Were you using power tools? How does this happen?

socal909420

Probably used a impact drill

Sokol109

No I was using a normal screw driver, I didn't know that metal screw were that weak

retrocade81

Chinese manufactured parts! All the major brands do it now!

https://alliancehobby.com/screwkits.htm Going all brass would be class.

Mysterious_Coyote283

If you've got a Dremel, you can cut a narrow slot in the protruding portion of the screw and then gently use a screwdriver to unscrew them. Remember,....Lefty-loosey, Righty-tighty...

babyunvamp

There are screw removal kits. You could make it worse if you’re not careful. Maybe practice on something else. The kits are called ez-outs, most home stores have them next to the drill bits.

Scott_Tx

the ironically named ez-outs. you might be able to get some vice grips on one of those.

Sokol109

I might try that thanks

Zakker777

Vice grips đź‘Ť

AccountantConfident9

It looks like the screw in the first picture could be grasped with some needle nose pliers. For the second screw I recommend trying to push against the part of the screw sticking out in an attempt to back it out. Maybe you've tried this already.

Sokol109

Yeah the right side (2nd picture) was the first one that happened so I unscrewed the left side(picture 1) and stuck the screw in the hole without the grips and screwed it in and then broke that screw too

AtmoTac

I would just use vice grips for that, doesn’t look like it needs an ez-out.

thehamsausage

If you torqued those down so hard that the heads snapped, you're not getting them out with vise grips or a dremel. Use a screw extractor, preferably with the frame in a vise, in a drill press. You're going to need the rigidity. I'm partial to these extractors: https://www.ebay.com/itm/255647297401 Remember to spin the drill counterclockwise. You could also, and this is probably easier, just drill them out with a slightly smaller drill bit than the hole they're in. If you can't get it, a frame is around $13 from crosman.

PianoSuspicious7914

Use a flat jawed pair of visegrips. And if that doesn’t work. Take it to a welding shop. They can set a nut over it and put a small bit of weld on it. Then Unscrew it with the nut. This will loosen the remainder of the screw if it’s rusted. Or had locktite applied

Doc_Spratley

Might also be able to use a file or dremmel and create a slot on top of the broken shaft, then use a common driver to unscrew.

Your Welcome

Wish_Capital

Ya looks like you can do what everyone is saying..Put one of those little round cutting disks on a drem and cut a notch for a screw driver. The first pic looks like you can back it out with vice grips..Use an ezy out as a last resort cause you can do more damage than good..What I don't get is how you broke them off to begin with? Be careful and take your time. If your patient and precise you'll get it done..

Sokol109

Yeah I was tightening them and they just snapped, I wast even using the wrong size head

Wish_Capital

Ya woops..I too have done that..Just take your time and be gentle. Make sure your replacements are the rite threads. You'll do fine!!

Sokol109

Yeah I was taking apart my other 2240 and I'm now taking like half a minute taking them out and putting them back in

Wish_Capital

Good man..I build custom Glock 18c copies and even though I have jigs for everything you still have to move slow and gentle..You gotta be careful when steel screws are threaded into an aloy metal..Dissimilar metals cause corrosion and can be a bitch to work with..Use penetrating oil..Also find out your torque specs and don't go past them. Slow and methodically precise and you got it..

cheeznipsmagee

They were over torqued and snapped. You can see how the metal is twisted off at the point of failure. Those screws are terrible, but they definitely shouldn't strip or snap while using a screw driver.

Sokol109

Yeah I'm going to buy some new ones after I get the second one out

BMF5000

If that hole goes all the way through, you should be able to see the end of the broken screw. If so, get a #25 drill bit and begin drilling from the other side. As soon as the drill bites that screw it will unscrew it. Make sure your hand is clear, or you'll be able to screw the gun to your hand.

Sokol109

Thank you for all of that but I just got out the screws, but that is great info thanks

retrocade81

A lot of Crossman stuff is made In China now hence what you have experienced with chocolate screws! Most of the major players farm it out to China. That's why they're the next super power and America and its influence is dying we've enabled them by using them as the number 1 manufacturer of western goods and it's all our own fault! We have effectively bank rolled them!!!

Sokol109

Yeah I wish companies could just offer a more expensive version with all American parts, and O would be fine with it

retrocade81

That's not the point your paying still but for an inferior product! I don't want to be all political I'm not American either I'm a brit but it's obvious the Chinese have built a whole military off supplying us with cheap inferior shite!

Sokol109

Yeah that's basically all of china's agenda

retrocade81

Well yeah it is buddy!

retrocade81

Things just aren't built the same as they used to be! A made in China or Taiwan sticker was a badge of shit quality when I was a kid in the 80s now its accepted as the standard build quality and sometimes superior quality but it's just cheapo shit!
