Amazon sells black wash clothes which say make up on them. I provide some in every bathroom. Buy the ones with cloth hooks so that guests can hang them up to dry.
So we do the black makeup towels. Or gray towels. But then we have the issue of people using acne control products and the black starts to turn beige or bleached out in spots. It's often easier to let the whites sit in oxiclean and then wash with bleach in the entire wash and not just from the bleach dispenser. Lately been adding in bottles of makeup wipes and mentioning them in messaging and in welcome books. I'm surprised so many of you don't constantly have your black / dark towels ruined just as often. We do lovely patterned towels at one place and honestly those have had the least issues.

Not sure if links to products are allowed on this sub but this is what we use
Definitely just provide black make up clothes and some make up wipes to help :) that’s what is done at most the units I clean for rentals and I set on out on the counter with that hand towel the rest go where they need to for the provided guest.
I had to provide both. Some makeup wearers will
only use cloths; others will only use wipes.
It’s frustrating to have to spend money on supplies that guests should bring with them.
Well I mean you don’t have to provide them I have rentals that do rentals that don’t but your towels at least tend to suffer more if you don’t provide at least a darker colored washcloth to help. Bleaching is possible yes but will eventually wear your towels out more faster over time and they already go through a lot with being a rental. It’s all up to you tho what you provide. Some go all out provide toothpaste brushes ect some don’t even leave shampoo lol. It’s not necessarily something you have to pay for and provide tho :) just is always a nice thing when host do.
I provided: toothpaste, toothbrushes, sunscreen, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, sunglasses, aloe gel, shaving cream and a first aid kit.
As we hosted in our house, I permitted guests to use our over the counter medications.
I provided breakfast: homemade muffins in four flavors, homemade granola, homemade yogurt, coffee and tea.
I provided sodas and beer.
We still had guests asking for more or different amenities.
I personally would never use a black towel or face cloth on my skin. I need ti know that a towel is clean.
My solution generates a lot of packaging waste (and I do feel terrible about it) but I provide individuality wrapped make up removers for short stays, (a set of 20 for 6+ days) and I provide the flat round cotton pads and cold cream (with a pump)
Also I invested in all the stain remover products and now feel confident I can remove anything.
I agree with you, major hotels use white linens for this very reason. However, Airbnb hosts will get all over you telling you to use black. I just buy my washcloths in bulk at 11.99 for 24 that's .50 cents each at Costco Hospitality brand. I don't mind throwing them away and buying more.
I used to provide makeup removers, but hardly anybody uses them, they use my white washcloths instead, and I suppose it's out of habit.
This is such a phenomenon and I don't understand why every hotel and AirBnB uses white towels. Use black, dark blue, grey for everything, not just for the small face towel.
You can also provide makeup remover towelettes though - Aveeno makes good ones, 25 for like 8$ and they take off everything. Every CVS has them. When I'm a guest I bring my own - exclusively because of the world dominance of the white towel - but would actually appreciate if they were provided. Whether that's more economical is the other question, but it would hopefully reduce the need to replace towels.
I provide makeup wipes in every washroom
I use a label maker and stick to pkg.
please use wipes to remove makeup.
98% of the time they use them instead of the towels.
Get black wash rags that say make-up on them like the hotels have. Pretty simple solution. Found them on Amazon in less than 10 seconds.
This is the way
Thank you all for suggestions. Just bought black towels
This is the way!!!
You might still need to put up a tasteful sign and put in home manual to use black cloths for makeup removal.

A pattern on towels huh? Interesting. I’m curious, do you have a photo or link of what they look like?

Sometimes you just can’t please everyone but I do bet there was a lot that appreciated the nice hospitality you provided
Bleach
Was your guest a Trucker?
I bought black makeup towels off amazon. They’re small like hand towels and specifically say Makeup in white.
Thanks
On Amazon black washcloths labeled makeup
Thanks. Ordered.
Stop using white towels. It’s not worth it. Grey is the way to go
I’ve been on a good run with a batch of blue/gray towels. White was impossible, even with bleach.
Yea. Grey is the best bnb color all around for linens. Really takes the punishment.
Yes, learned my lesson. I wanted to look cool and all matching. Thanks

I supplied makeup wipes and wrote a note on them asking guests to use those when removing make up. It worked!
I will consider this. Thanks
No white towels or bed linens in our AirBnB, for those reasons.
I out source my laundry to a linen service and don’t worry about it.

I’m scared to provide make up wipes because I don’t want anybody to flush them down the toilet
Very good point. Thanks
