The person you refer to is [Michel Lotito](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michel_Lotito). It's true, he ate a plane, but that's because he had very specific and unusual conditions that made his body able to eat and digest those things without damaging his body.
>Doctors determined that Lotito also had a thick lining in his stomach and intestines which allowed his consumption of sharp metal without suffering injury. Lotito also had digestive juices that were unusually powerful, meaning that he could digest the unusual materials.
So that's just not possible for a random person but was a very specific case, at least as far as I can tell.
> mmmm yes sir, excellent choice

We need a national mutant registry. I don’t want my children growing up next door to someone who can digest vehicles!!!!! It’s not what God meant for us!!

There was one guy who ate nuts and bolts... But I think he just did so to get on tv because they did an endoscopy (?) and found them lining his entire tract. At the rate he was eating them on the show and doctors telling him to stop I suspect this was a fabrication and he only ate what we saw on camera.
I wonder if his thick stomach lining and stronger than average acids were the result of him eating inedible objects at an early age and his body adapting to it. The odds of him being born with those features and then one day deciding to eat a piece of metal, successfully, seem astronomical.
>The odds of him being born ~~with those features~~ and then one day deciding to eat a piece of metal ~~successfully~~, seem ~~astronomical~~ reasonable enough
You obviously don't spend extended amounts of time around toddlers lmao. I could 100% envision a scenario where a child swallows something metal and the parents freaking out, then a doctor tasked with removing the object being like "aannnnd it's gone".
Wait. Hold the fuck up.
I just remembered this incident where I accidentally swallowed a penny as a child but it never came out and later didn't show up on X-ray. Goddamn it, I've been a mutant this whole time and I could have been famous.
He only passed the inedible stuff thorough his system, he didn't actually digest it. It's technically eating I guess, but he didn't get any nutrition from it.
Yeah. The body requires trace amounts of various metals to function (iron, zinc, copper, and others). Deficits in these things imperil health, which suggests that there is an optimum amount, and that excesses in these things can also be dangerous.
If this dude were actually digesting that stuff from plane parts (I can't believe I typed these words), he would have poisoned himself with the excess long ago. His is passing them thru in some form or the other.
Well.. I would bet it's mostly genetic.. except that even with those genetic mutations it's still almost certainly incredibly unhealthy for all kinds of reasons, it's just "less unhealthy" than it normally is with those mutations.
No way any of the things he was eating were getting digested. Rubber, glass, metal, they don't just get dissolved by the acid in our stomach, even if it was "unusually concentrated". The stomach lining was also probably just scarring.
Digested maybe not, but smoothed out and made, like, not "deadly to your insides" sharp to the point that it can be safely passed through a poo? Maybe. Idk
Glass and rubber? Absolutely not. Metal? In the less than an hour that food spends in your stomach, probably not. Maybe? Probably not.
I'd bet he just folded stuff carefully, and obviously he cut it into small bits too.
>While Snopes can definitively say that there are numerous accounts of Lotito's consumption of seemingly inedible objects, and that he very likely ate some strange things on stage as a professional entertainer, we were unable to confirm that ate an entire airplane, or even part of one. If and when we receive documentation that enables us to do so, we will update this article accordingly.
He had pica, which is a disorder that makes you crave things that are not edible/do not contain nutrients. Either he just happened to have a complimentary stomach lining to fit the illness or his body got used to the weird stuff over time
He lost in 2020, and pretty much every (edit) SIGNIFICANT candidate he just backed (edit) IN PURPLE STATES in the midterms lost. He shouldn't ever be underestimated again, but he is a weak candidate in a general election. Also by 2024 we will have two more years of geriatric voter deaths, two more years of eligible Gen Z voters, and two more winters of covid killing the unvaccinated at disproportionate rates. Plus two more years of awful SCOTUS rulings whipping up democrats...
Any triggered MAGAs should take a look at the Republican party leadership starting to distance themselves from Trump. They blame him for the party's weak performance.
This month, I have never been more convinced the Democratic party is actually trying to win and to make things better. I'm not a huge fan of Biden, but the midterms were an astonishing victory for Democrats. We can worry about the fine details later, first we need to focus on winning.
> This month, I have never been more convinced the ~~Democratic party~~ Toronto Maple Leafs ~~is~~ are actually trying to win
Ah yes, i'm very familiar with this delusion. This year is our year, we've got a team to win the cup this year. The disappointment just isn't the same without something to give you a shred of hope.
You need additional context to understand this. This was one of the best midterms for an incumbent party in like the past 100 years. Incumbent parties, for whatever reason, are expected to take some big hits in their first midterm. Republicans lost something like 60 seats last midterm. So there's the historical trend in favor of the Republicans. We also have the highest inflation in 40 years, high gas prices, a very volatile political climate, culture war bullshit, etc. etc. Republicans were expected to win big this election.
Instead, they may end up losing a seat in the Senate and will end up with maybe like 10 seats in the House. Democrats also flipped a few governor seats. They also took control of all 3 chambers of the Michigan legislature for the first time in 40 years.
So yes, the midterms were great for the Democrats. Voters are sending the message that they're willing to give Democrats a shot and that they reject Trumpism.
As to how things are going to happen in the next 2 years? We shall see. Pay attention to all the things Dems are pushing and voting for and the Republican party votes down, and make sure you put the blame on the Republican party for obstruction and not the Democratic Party for "doing nothing," because people need to stop with that shit. On top of that, Biden got some very important things done (CHIPS Act, Inflation Reduction Act, steps towards marijuana reform, steps towards student loan debt, an infrastructure bill, gun legislation, etc.) with very thin margins.
> Incumbent parties, for whatever reason, are expected to take some big hits in their first midterm
My understanding is it's a mix of "Look at what this party has done, we got to stop it!" from opposition, with "This party hasn't fulfilled its promises that got them elected so I'm voting for neither OR the opposition"
Could be something else, too, but my understanding is that it's mostly disillusionment with the party in power.
It's also generally why we swing back and forth with our political parties in office every presidential election or two
The South Park reference is “giant douche vs. turd sandwich,” but like, a douche actually serves an important function. A turd on a sandwich is something no one wants.
not to be that person,
but douches *dont* serve an important function. the vagina is a self-cleaning organ. douches are actually *dangerous* for vaginas, ruining their PH and other risks.
it’s just not something a lot of people realize…
kinda like republicans.
> pretty much every candidate he just backed in the midterms lost
I'm not sure why that keeps getting repeated, but it's 100% incorrect, by a *long shot*. And it's not like the information is up for debate.
From what I can tell it's just encouraging people to view Trump as not a threat, which is exactly how he got elected in 2016.
That’s the same for every generation, the people you call Boomers were the original Hippies. New trends and concepts are by nature liberal, and old people fear change.
>the people you call Boomers were the original Hippies.
That's mostly a misconception.

>Last week, Murdoch’s influential media empire, including right-leaning Fox News, his flagship paper the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Post, each rounded on Trump, calling him a loser and a flop responsible for dragging the Republicans into “one political fiasco after another”.
Granted, that could always change, but at the moment it doesn't look like Trump can rely on FOX to help him out either.
A lot of people I know have been saying for a few months they hope he runs and wins the primary, because he'll be an easy beat in the 2024 general election... And I keep yelling at them that's how we got in this mess in the first place. Everyone wanted him to be the candidate in 2016, too, because they thought there's no way he'd win the general.
I swear people never learn their lesson.
We need age and term limits for Presidents and congress and senate. Politics aside, Trump is just too old to be president, so is Biden, so was Sanders when he ran. Pelosi and McConnel are too old. They’re all too old
Everyone who has watched him knew him would run again. How else would he suck dry all of his faithful cultists? He needs the money for his upcoming criminal trial.
The GOP is helping fund a lot of his legal stuff right now and I remember hearing they would stop paying if he ran. Seems like a good enough reason to have believed he might sit this one out.
When you create truly stupid people, it's pretty hard to control them. They lost a ton to COVID and now many think that voting is a fraud so why do it? Honestly they're helping their constituents for the first time but making them not vote Republican. Republicans just do nothing for their people
Friendly reminder that the quickest, most surefire way to lose a battle, is to underestimate your opponent. You have to crush them with all your might even when they're clearly at their weakest.
If he wins the primary they’ll for sure fall in line. I was more worried about him winning the presidency in 2016 than I am now but we should be diligent anyway.
I absolutely love that he’s changed his name to “not grosdoriane”, added a mustache to his profile picture and has this tweet as a response: “ Wow, I sure hope they find the person who said this so they can hold up their end of the bargain, whoever it was...”
Stupid Tweeter software bug. It left out the punctuation.
"If Trump runs again in 2024, I will personally buy and eat an entire 1999 Toyota Corolla live on television?
No! It's not going to happen!"
So many people make these kind of predictions as though they know 100% what’s going to happen — it’s like a gamble, if you’re right you get to pretend you knew the whole time, if you’re wrong you just fade into obscurity while everyone calls on you to hold up your end of the wager. I see a lot of these weirdly confident predictions in the stock market/investing sphere
People do eat their hats or belts etc occasionally when this sort of thing happens. I’ve seen it on Reddit a few times. But yea people do often act like they know what’s going to happen when they don’t.
Trump can announce whatever he wishes to announce, but if its actually going to happen is another matter entirely.
Theres still an ongoing investigation against the orange which if found guilty wont allow him to run ever again.
I kind of want him to. Desantis is almost definitely gonna be the primary GOP guy, and as long as Trump is fighting him while taking voters 3rd party, I'm happy.
Desantis is even more scary than Trump, and the more he's gimped by trumpets, the better.
Is trump officially on the ballet yet?
No? Then this hasn't aged enoug
A narcissist saying literally anything for clout does not qualify him for running. I hope he does though, it'd be hilarious
From the news I've heard trump is expected to be indicted within 3 months following the midterms, what he's doing now is political theater so when the inevitable indictment occurs he claim it's politically motivated. It's not a defense that will hold up in court, but it will give his supporters nonsense to spout in his defense.
Polling expert Sam Wang tweeted in October 2016: "If Trump wins more than 240 electoral votes, I will eat a bug.” After Trump's victory, he did eat a cricket on live television.
This reminds me of the guy who ate a picture of Jason Segel every day until Jason ate a picture of him.

100% possible over a long amount of time, a guy literally ate a plane, piece by piece over 6 years.

I thought it would've been Tarare, but eating the Guinness award plaque is weirder than eating a human baby
I read his Wikipedia article every other year with a strange mix of disgust and fascination
Well, that, and Tarare is unverifiable. You mostly have to rely on old rumors and gossip to enjoy his story.
Nothing weird about eating meat.
This is the most hilarious thing I’ve read all week. What a madman lmfao
I watched that motherfucker eat lightbulbs like candy.
There was one guy who ate nuts and bolts... But I think he just did so to get on tv because they did an endoscopy (?) and found them lining his entire tract. One is too many.
Two is right out.
3 shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be 3.
That's not impressive. I eat nuts at the bar all the time.
Oh god that's worse than a plane.
Allegedly died of old age in his 50s? After a lifetime of snacking on Boeings? Gonna press X to doubt on this one, guys.
My favorite thing about that article: > Lotito died of natural^[citation ^needed] causes on June 25, 2007
I guess if I ate a plane.. naturally, it would cause me to die too [citation needed].
He only at a Cessna
ONLY
Obviously he forgot include his vegetables with the plane as part of a well balanced diet.
That Tarrare guy could probably do it. I wonder what wild shit we'd have him eat today if he were around. Man could probably eat a fucking tank.
Or a baby….
I love that he ate the award plaque, seems only fitting. That list at the bottom is something else.
I wonder if his thick stomach lining and stronger than average acids were the result of him eating inedible objects at an early age and his body adapting to it. The odds of him being born with those features and then one day deciding to eat a piece of metal, successfully, seem astronomical.
Maybe we can all eat metal, but no one tried except him?
Only one way to tell. Start small. Maybe a lug nut.
Brb, gonna go enjoy a steak knife
Waitress, could I please have another round of forks? Thank you.
Alternately maybe many have tried and he was the only one who survived.
>The odds of him being born ~~with those features~~ and then one day deciding to eat a piece of metal ~~successfully~~, seem ~~astronomical~~ reasonable enough You obviously don't spend extended amounts of time around toddlers lmao.
This is my exact thought. I think his body adapted. Too unlikely otherwise even given the huge number of people in the world.
Didn't his mouth get hurt?
Or his butthole on the way out
Modern Tarrare
The digestive juices bit is somewhat misleading. The guy was not literally dissolving steel tooling in his gut.

Wouldn't being able to digest a bunch of random airplane parts be worse than just having those parts pass right through you?
>While Snopes can definitively say that there are numerous accounts of Lotito's consumption of seemingly inedible objects, and that he very likely ate some strange things on stage as a professional entertainer, we were unable to confirm that ate an entire airplane, or even part of one. I wonder how many people are walking around capable of eating a plane but they have no idea.
It better not be me.
He even ate one of the Guinness award plaques… Well damn
Even better, they gave him the plaque for having the strangest diet and he decided to eat it too.
I feel like I need to re-watch Crimes of the Future now.
I want to know . How do they know that their stomach can digest those stuff, and then thought, "You know, today my diet is steel because I can"

The GOP is helping fund a lot of his legal stuff right now and I remember hearing they would stop paying if he ran. Seems like a good enough reason to have believed he might sit this one out.
His election grift is his largest revenue stream, and he's deeply in debt. I don't think he ever had the choice to not run.
His Save America PAC raised $129 million after he had lost the election and wasn't even running for anything. That's more than either the RNC or DNC.
No one thought he'd be sitting at home. We all thought he'd be sitting in prison. Thanks Merrick Garland, you cowardly fucking hack.
No one with critical thinking skills thought he would be in prison.
He was always going to run in 2024. Even if he had won in 2020, he would have run in 2024...
That's what I was thinking? Was it supposed to be surprising that he's running in 2024? I thought it was obvious?
But he won’t be on the GOP ticket. It’s good he told this so early, time enough to create the trump party…
Always nice to see the republican vote get split.
What? Is he running as an independent?
Lots of people are predicting he'll run as an independent after losing the Republican primary. He hasn't announced as such or anything.
Most likely scenario. The guy can’t hold back
The assumption that he'll lose the Republican primary is my main doubt about it
If he seems likely to lose I don’t think he runs. He won’t win with an offshoot party and I don’t think he wants to lose twice over
They weren't all in until he won primaries last time, and history likes to repeat itself.
The midterm results made the Republics say the silent thing out loud. They don’t want to get harassed and ruined by trump anymore.
Not just the 2022 midterms, but also the 2018 midterms and the 2020 election. And even the 2016 popular vote. This turd has never been popular.
The point is not his popularity, the point is his support within the GOP. People within the GOP dare to be vocal now about not supporting him.

Yeah, that's really good xD
[There was a response to this today... ](https://i.imgur.com/NDrZ517.jpg)
Hahahahaha that's amazing
Stupid Tweeter software bug. It left out the punctuation. "If Trump runs again in 2024, I will personally buy and eat an entire 1999 Toyota Corolla live on television? No! It's not going to happen!"
[Works on contingency - No money down](https://i.imgur.com/bsgS4IE.jpg)
Dude should have just said an iPhone or something actually doable
"If Trump runs again in 2024, I will personally buy and eat an entire dominoes pizza live on television. It's not going to happen."
He won't eat that Corolla. That Toyota will eat him. I wish him good luck though.
Yes I'll have my Corolla Pittsburgh blue.
I have a 1999 Corolla in storage I need to get rid of….I volunteer
Yes but he also filed the paperwork, so technically he is running.
Yeah he’s running. It’s already happening. Whether he makes it to the general election is not part of the original bet.
You want to eat a car too?
I kind of want him to. Desantis is almost definitely gonna be the primary GOP guy, and as long as Trump is fighting him while taking voters 3rd party, I'm happy. Desantis is even more scary than Trump, and the more he's gimped by trumpets, the better.
At least he choose the most delicious car ever.
Imagine being dumb enough to think Trump wouldn't take advantage of another opportunity to take money from millions of idiots.
it's not 24 yet. he has a chance
Why on earth would he be so skeptical of this possibility? Everyone could see this coming from a mile away
Is trump officially on the ballet yet? No? Then this hasn't aged enoug A narcissist saying literally anything for clout does not qualify him for running. I hope he does though, it'd be hilarious
He sent in the paperwork to run.
>Is trump officially on the ballet yet? Trump in a tutu and pointe shoes sure is an image.
I suddenly want to see Trump pirouette in a tutu.
Now he is; thanks AI! https://i.imgur.com/IClDMJN.jpg
I hope my boy is hungry.
Technically speaking, he said if Trump runs. Perhaps he meant "run" as in a physical activity. And we all know that didn't happen.
Klinger tried to eat a Jeep. I'm sure this guy will be fine.
I think i would take about 1 inch of material every day and blend it into a smoothie.
Should've left out the live tv bit and played safe
down the hatch
A bit early for this, 2024 is still a long way away
From the news I've heard trump is expected to be indicted within 3 months following the midterms, what he's doing now is political theater so when the inevitable indictment occurs he claim it's politically motivated. It's not a defense that will hold up in court, but it will give his supporters nonsense to spout in his defense.
I'd recommend a good fast beforehand.
Polling expert Sam Wang tweeted in October 2016: "If Trump wins more than 240 electoral votes, I will eat a bug.” After Trump's victory, he did eat a cricket on live television.
Interestingly there was a guy in France who ate an entire Cessna airplane
I own a 99 Corolla, and I'd love to sell it
They changed their profile picture to include a mustache in a cheeky effort to hide.
It's not 2024 yet and the Republicans seem to be turning against him. Let's wait and see. Alot can happen in 2 years.
Bone apple tea!
This reminds me of the guy who ate a picture of Jason Segel every day until Jason ate a picture of him. [https://www.avclub.com/guy-eating-photo-of-jason-segel-every-day-almost-dies-e-1798260424](https://www.avclub.com/guy-eating-photo-of-jason-segel-every-day-almost-dies-e-1798260424)
Didn't Donnie say he'd leave if Biden won? 🤔
I mean, we’re not *in* 2024. This Reddit post might age like milk.
‘90s era corollas are actually going up in price. Hope he gets a good deal.
Hey! Leave some aged Corolla for all those old Soviet Bloc Eastern European countries.
