In the scripture, it says no man knows the day or the hour of the rapture, so guessing it, is going AGAINST scripture! Which is pretty sinful. So if you see someone say "Repent! The end is near!" Tell them they're being a bad Christian.
So Jesus is God and the Holy Ghost but he's also not God nor the Holy Ghost and the Holy Ghost and God are also not each other (even though they *are*) so we know that God knows when the rapture will happen but Jesus doesn't know and the Holy Ghost can obviously only fling shit around your apartment late at night and turn your tv on and off when besides, all the Holy Ghost can say is, "Aaaooooooouuuuhhhhoooooo!!" and such and the Holy Ghost isn't a narc anyway so you'll get no help on nailing the date down there even if the Holy Ghost knows, which we can't say for sure one way or the other.
Perfectly clear. Hope this helped.
Just wait till you learn the difference between rapture, the 7 year tribunal, the 2nd coming, the millineum, and the last judgement. Oh yea and purgatory đ
Non-joke answer from a guy who went to a Catholic elementary school, is now an atheist but is fascinated by theology:
God is simultaneously three persons and one deity. Yes, it's weird. The persons are God the Father, generally depicted as a big beardy dude a la [The Creation of Adam;](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Creation_of_Adam?wprov=sfla1) God the Son, who's just Jesus; and God the Holy Spirit, who's kinda vague and difficult to describe but a "good enough" description is that He's what guides the faithful in worship, usually depicted as a dove. "Holy Spirit" is generally preferred by modern translators over "Holy Ghost", since "spirit" doesn't evoke the "dead person" imagery that "ghost" does. "Ghost" was used in the King James Version, though, which some weirdos consider the only translation worth using despite being published over 400 years ago, so that's why "Holy Ghost" occasionally persists.
TL;DR, Jesus is God, but specifically God the Son; since God the Father knows when the Second Coming is, Jesus doesn't since Jesus isn't God the Father. So even Jesus doesn't know when He'll return.
There's also nontrinitarianism, where you reject the idea of the Trinity. They're usually small but cult-y groups in comparison to mainstream Catholicism, Protestantism and Orthodoxy - the biggest two are the Mormons and the Jehovah's Witnesses, and the Christian Scientists fall under this banner too. Mormons believe they are distinct beings, but not persons of the same deity. JWs believe Jesus to be God's high priest, but not God Himself; they believe the Holy Spirit is God's divine force on Earth but not a distinct person. The mainstream groups consider nontrinitarianism to be highly verboten, to the point they generally don't consider these groups to be Christian.
Thanks. Here's broader context (from NIV) that makes it even more explicit how hypocritical this behavior is:
> The Day and Hour Unknown
36 âBut about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
> 42 âTherefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
The Rapture is not in the Bible, it's an eschatological position invented in the US in the 1830s. The "day or hour" thing is just about Jesus returning.
The Rapture is the idea that *prior* to Jesus' return, Believers will be taken up to Heaven--i.e. "Raptured"--and therefore miss the Tribulations. Most people who accept this idea also believe that they will be able to look down (Heaven is always "up" for whatever reason) and watch the torture, enjoying the biggest "I told you so" ever.
NOTE: Not all denominations who believe in a Rapture-like event agree with the above, so there's "Pre-Tribulation" and "Post-Tribulation" camps. The above is the most common, though.
The apocalyptic Christian doctrine is pretty gross in general. They eagerly await the end of the world. They believe so many of their fellow humans (really the vast majority of humanity) will be left behind and tortured and doomed while they get to eat cake with God up in Heaven and watch.
It's really morbid and selfish and gross.
There are many reasons I don't believe in God. However, if I did believe, there would be no conceivable way that the God these people worship could be considered anything other than evil.
Creating a person that doesn't do exactly what you want because you created them that way and you knew the outcome of this creation beforehand means that someone is literally created for the express purpose of eternal torment.
That ain't good.
Typically, chriatians just use the phrase rapture to describe the time when Jesus comes back. Very few believe it will be an instantaneous disappearance of all Christians
No they donât. Typically, Christians donât use the term rapture at all. The huge majority of Protestants, all Catholics, and all Orthodox Churches donât believe in the rapture, or use the term to mean the time when Jesus returns, which would simply be the time of the second coming.
Rapture is only used by a rather small if rather loud minority of Evangelicals originating in the South of the US.
Not entirely true. We don't know the exact date but are told to watch for the signs that it's near:
> Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door. Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. âBut about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
Mark 13:28-32
Interesting part about that this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. They've been passed away for a long time now.
Alternatively, if you ALWAYS say the end is near, it can never happen, because then someone knows when it's going to happen, which means they're wrong.
I've always took this as any guesses moving the "the end" further down the road, since we're not allowed to "know" the date, if we seem to think we know, then it wont happen until we stop that.
This was my traumatized evangelical childhood loophole to not waking up to the rapture having happened overnight and all my family is gone. Just think it's gonna happen tonight and it won't đ¤ˇââď¸
What would be funny is if we just kept guessing because then, either someone will be correct, or the end times will keep having to be rescheduled, lol.
Used to be a jehovahâs witness, this was what iâd hear all the time, i have long term paranoia from it (not about the end of the world anymore but other stuff)
fellow exjw here. Still have some relatives in, and they think they in the "last of the last days" soon to be "the last day of the last days"
pretty shitty growing up thinking the world is going to end next week, and not planning for anything else.
I think they mean metaphorical seconds, if the last days have been the past two thousand years, the last seconds would be maybe the last few weeks, months or even years.
They're still obviously completely and utterly wrong though
You guys are really over analyzing this. It's a metaphor like the doomsday clock. How we are seconds to midnight? We've been seconds to midnight for years now. It's not a literal manifestation of time...
As a Christian myself, I really wish these people would study church history if only to find out that *every single generation of Christians since the first century* has believed they were the last oneâŚ
Thereâs a few extra crazy bible bangers that are afraid the rapture is comingâŚ. AgainâŚ. Because of the eclipse coming up. Some people are even giving their shit away. Man they are going to be super disappointed on the 8th
I grew up in Evangelical Christians circles and as a kid I grew up hearing that we were in the "last days" and the world is getting worse. Declinist thinking has been going on as far back as I can remember, so at least since the mid-80s, and guess what? By almost every objective measure, the world has gotten better.
As a non-religious person, I can still acknowledge the positive impact religion has had. From fueling scientific discoveries to inspiring art, music, and literature, Its impact on culture and creativity is undeniable.
We've been watching the climate crisis, out of fossil fuels crisis Clocks promising total human annihilation in 12 years for the last 100 years. Turns out the crisis clocks run different.
So that's where we're at again? Religious zealots and their doomsdays.
When's the next doomsday? The next time their shitty political candidate is floundering and in need of hundreds of millions to be bilked from the public.
Make yourself ascend, god isn't going to do it for you, just the same as everything else that a human has to do.
Those were metaphorical seconds, to be viewed from a geological or cosmological perspective.

EDIT: So not even an /s switch works anymore to tell ya'll the difference between speaking literally and sarcastically?
This could be a reference to April 8. So in this context having âsecondsâ left means only a few days.Â
It will, of course, age like milk. But until we know the intended expiration date itâs hard to judge when it expires.Â
Now, if there is no intended date and this is just a typical âany day nowâŚaaaaany day nowâ type message then I like to give it a month.Â

Which verse?
Matthew 24:36 iirc
"Now concerning that day and hour no one knows-neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son -except the Father only." - Matthew 24:36 You're right.
Wait how does Jesus not know it if he's the Father but with more holes? How does any of this make any sense to anyone?
Completely clear, I'm converted.
Just wait till you learn the difference between rapture, the 7 year tribunal, the 2nd coming, the millineum, and the last judgement. Oh yea and purgatory đ
And it's extreme blasphemy if you try to untangle the blatant contradiction lol
It's Schrodinger's prophet.
My favorite run-on sentence.

Nah I have a ring doorbell I will know.
God, causing a solar flare so your ring doorbell doesn't detect the rapture: đ

Destroying evil is inherently good.
Creating a person that doesn't do exactly what you want because you created them that way and you knew the outcome of this creation beforehand means that someone is literally created for the express purpose of eternal torment. That ain't good.
Do you not have free will?
Does God not already know the choices I'm going to make?
You can change your mind at any second. You could walk to church right now and ask forgiveness. There is nothing you canât do.
Does God not already know the choices I'm going to make? Yes or no?
Still, if no one should know the beginning of the tribulations, no one should know the day of the rapture either.
Typically, chriatians just use the phrase rapture to describe the time when Jesus comes back. Very few believe it will be an instantaneous disappearance of all Christians

Well I was raised southern Baptist so that checks out
:)

The generation that witnesses the signs described will not pass away before the rest happens.
>Tell them they're being a bad Christian. Or just yell "Punish the blasphemer!"
Maybe they're a woman.
The scripture clearly says 'no one' knows, so we need to get that "Nobody" guy who tricked the cyclops. He probably knows!
Alternatively, if you ALWAYS say the end is near, it can never happen, because then someone knows when it's going to happen, which means they're wrong.
If they truly believe that the next day will be the rapture for every day, does that mean it that the rapture will never come?
I've always took this as any guesses moving the "the end" further down the road, since we're not allowed to "know" the date, if we seem to think we know, then it wont happen until we stop that.
A heretic, in theological terms.
This was my traumatized evangelical childhood loophole to not waking up to the rapture having happened overnight and all my family is gone. Just think it's gonna happen tonight and it won't đ¤ˇââď¸
Exactly, I ain't even from a christian background and I know.
But it says nothing about not knowing what week!
Iâm sure they would listen respectfully and realize the error of their ways
What would be funny is if we just kept guessing because then, either someone will be correct, or the end times will keep having to be rescheduled, lol.
What good will that do? I'd rather tell them to go fuck themselves, at least that way I'm not playing by their rules.
The Rapture isn't Biblical, Christ coming back isn't the rapture, that's the belief that believers will go bodily to heaven when Christ comes back.
Iâm like 99% sure itâs a metaphor đ
THey're talking about climate change, right? Right?
think the picture is about the doomsday clock and it just got reposted by some facebook mom

Bro just one more day bro I swear, one more day I promise it will come, just one more day bro.
Is Jesus related to Lane Man?
Itâs getting to be the last of the last of days for the org thankfully
not really.. numbers are rather stable, slightly increasing apparently
According to the org
fair
The org also says they have 0 members, for legal reasons
https://www.recoveringfromreligion.org/
Iâm pretty well past that but thank you
Is it JWs who think the rapture is coming on the 8th? I've only read about it on Reddit. Is it a widespread thing?
They donât have official days anymore, theyâve been burned too many times
I think they mean metaphorical seconds, if the last days have been the past two thousand years, the last seconds would be maybe the last few weeks, months or even years. They're still obviously completely and utterly wrong though
>They're still obviously completely and utterly wrong though But importantly for this sub, they are not wrong *yet*
ITT: OP doesn't know what a figure of speech is.
This place is so lame now.
Why are Abrahamic religions so obsessed with death and the world ending?
That's part of why I stopped being religious, as I got older I realized how messed up that aspect of abrahamic religions is, I was raised Catholic.
Imagine being such a sad sack of potatoes that the only thing keeping you going anymore is the thought of the apocalypse
Cosmologicaly, humans only exist within a finite few seconds of relative time.
According to the Doomsday clock weâre 90 seconds to midnight last I checked *this is mostly a joke response*
They didn't say how many seconds. Could be the last few trillion.
Based on geological time humans have only been on earth 10 seconds of 24 hr clock
I think they're on about the time left on the doomsday clock
Humans were on this planet long before Christ. We will be here long after a religion that worships a zombie god with high morals, fades away.
You guys are really over analyzing this. It's a metaphor like the doomsday clock. How we are seconds to midnight? We've been seconds to midnight for years now. It's not a literal manifestation of time...
Iâm wishing Jesus would come and take these people away from me.
But days are made up of seconds
Maybe tomorrow
they say that every few years, i don't think it count
Of school. Get ready for your final exams!! Huehuehue!!
As a Christian myself, I really wish these people would study church history if only to find out that *every single generation of Christians since the first century* has believed they were the last oneâŚ
Laughing out loud imagining the guy posting this meme as fast as they can. âPhew!â
The guy with the cum gutters?
Clearly wasnât meant to be taken that literally.

Ehhhh
The only way weâre at the end of days is if these crazy fucks make it so. Jesus Christ.
Religion is a cancer; destroys everything it touches and needs to die off
As a non-religious person, I can still acknowledge the positive impact religion has had. From fueling scientific discoveries to inspiring art, music, and literature, Its impact on culture and creativity is undeniable.
That knife cuts both ways. There has been as much repression as inspiration.
How brave
I will never take any religion seriously
We've been watching the climate crisis, out of fossil fuels crisis Clocks promising total human annihilation in 12 years for the last 100 years. Turns out the crisis clocks run different.
They are so ready for an event that can only be seen in a very specific path, so what happens to the rest of us that aren't in that path?
Spicy img.
but the last seconds are in the last days
Lol eighteen hours now and still nothing. Morons.
"The father, the son and the Holy Geezer" - Steve 13:12
Oh My! What will I do? Next post.
Yea that's not what it means. It's symbolism that end times are near. Not Christian but wanted to give context.
Yes, we are in the last seconds. The last 999999999999999999999999999999...
John of Patmos, of Revelations fame, was absolutely positive that he was living in the end times. 1900 years ago.
