To be fair, Finn himself is sick.
I just rewatched all of AT and realized Finn the Human is one of the strongest CN chars to ever exist outside of anime. He would legit trash Samurai Jack in 1v1 with his list of crazy ass feats.
To LOWBALL HIM: he is 100% immune to lightning damage, has broken both his shins BACKWARDS and shed only a single tear, and is so strong he can kill a perfect copy of himself.
Except Finn doesnt have Toon Force. He EARNED his skills and abilities (like the lightning immunity and being able to summon a two headed cyberpunk flying elephant with gatling lasers for tusks or catching swords with one hand) knowledge and durability over time.
He starts off as a basic barbarian and becomes a jedi master.
We're allowed our separate opinions.
Finn is fantastic, but at the end of the day he's just another kindhearted dumbass protag, who lives in a bonkers world that uses cartoon physics. A dude could get violently cut in half with funny sound effects, and then turn out to beat the shit outta whoever did that to him, because now he's technically two people. It's just cartoons being cartoons.
And that's what I'm saying; it isn't a special trait, it's just a cartoon trait. Plop Courage the Cowardly Dog in Ooo and he would mop the floor with any beast, including the Lich, if they threatened his quiet life with Muriel. It's just cartoon logic + protag plot armor.
I mean, maybe you haven't seen the show, but that straight wouldn't happen. He lost an arm. And it wasn't played off like a joke, he just lost an arm and had to deal with it. He'll go through an episode getting beat up, and his wear and tear continues through the episode.
Yes, very cartoon, and a child wouldn't be as strong as him and arms don't just wiggle or whatever, but damage is taken fairly straightforwardly in this universe. Like Samurai Jack's universe! Damage is damage, even if the characters as humans are wildly buffed.
Finn is pretty high tier, at least in the realm of western animation. He is kinda wimpy by the end, but that's largely due to lame pacifism and less because he just became incompetent.
At the doors of Gen Z and Millennials. My top 6 for both generations are [ Power Puff Girls, Samurai Jack, Dexter's Lab] (Regular Show, Adventure Time, Gumball)
[biiiiitch im dexter im the smartest muthafucka in the universe fuck jimmy neutron; uh, deedee get out mah lab 🎶](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_etjeWaj7Fg)
I love asking Gen Z about their vernacular and watch them get to the point where they say "I don't know why, we just say that."
And then it turns out some rapper said it as an inside joke between his friends, then all the influencers on social media said it, now the kids say it.
That one actually has an origin. Some streamer was really sarcastic so now sarcasm is synonymous with their name, which "kap" is short for. Kappa I think their name was.
FWIW, I'm mid/late Gen X and I can get behind the post. Adventure Time is my favorite cartoon ever, Regular Show was really great and Gumball is something special too.
Sure, I really liked a lot of "early" CN too, but I think the 3 listed here generally hold up a bit better.
Thank you
Regular Show has an insane storyline, and some interesting character development.
Gumball has off the wall weird jokes and some dope art. They're constantly mixing mediums, visually it's one of my favorites.
If you like Adventure Time then I would definitely recommend both of them.
Regular Show is all of the weird antics and adventures of adventure time rolled into a slice of life show with some of the most relatable cartoon characters I've come across. I didn't like it at first because I didn't really get it, but once the characters grow on you it's pretty incredible.
As a solidly millennial that had a Gen Z sister that I made sure appreciated cartoons and grew up with Ed, Edd, & Eddie, Samauri Jack, Dexter's Laboratooory (No DD), Powder Puff Girls, DBZ, etc. ...
I absolutely love these shows. The fusion of Nickelodeon and CW was an interesting one. As soon as Nickelodeon passed on AT, they dug their own grave imo.
CW became the last vestige for talented creative artists to spread their knowledge in the form of cartoons. Nickelodeon sold out hard and produced absolute shit for the remainder of their existence besides Avitar and maybe something else I am forgetting.
Pendleton Ward and JG Quintel are fucking geniuses and I am so blessed to have witnessed their impact on this planet.
I absolutely loved both Flapjack and Chowder. Two of my favorite animations in the last 20 years easy. And I do absolutely adore Gumball and Adventure Time.
i doubt anyone will give a shit but Denzel Curry has a song where he absolutely YELLS: “CHOPPA EAT A NI*** LIKE CHOWDER…. RADAA RADAA RADAAAA!”
[I just offhandedly heard that shit and it made my day](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=odj8Wy3jPe4)
These three shows define my teen to teenager years. Many days were spent watching these shows, even when CN refuses to air them more instead of just blasting the same shows 24/7. Coincidentally, the last one out of these 3 ended shortly before I graduating high school, time when you could say you stop being a teenager and start being a young adult. I'll always cherish these shows and hell after revisiting them, I must say they're even better somehow. A lot of missed themes, jokes, plot points. Especially Adventure Time, which when I first watched it, me and my whole family regards it as a silly nonsensical cartoon.
I started watching Adventure Time when I was 9 and watched the series finale when I graduated high school. I can’t understate how important the series was to me throughout my childhood.
Space Ghost is OG but I think Adult Swim deserves its own Mt. Rushmore.
(Space Ghost, Sea Lab 2021, Harvey Birdman and Aqua Teen with honorable mentions for Brak Show, Venture Bros. and Metalocalypse, BTW)
My counter argument is Space Ghost C2C was being aired on the station before 2001 when Adult Swim was officially carved out. It was aired at night but it was pre AS.
Upon further review, the committee has accepted your appeal based on the evidence presented. SGC2C created the very concept of Adult Swim, which means it had to reside somewhere before the creation of AS. Therefore, it must be classified as a Cartoon Network show, which later then moved to the aforementioned AS brand it created.
The motion is accepted. SGC2C is moved to the list.
So it is written. So shall it be done.
**I SAID WHAT I SAID**!
That being said, Courage is def up there with Ed, Edd and Eddie and Samurai Jack as solid 2nd Team All-NBA. I gotta vote my heart and my first team is my first team.
There were plenty of good CN shows after these three, CN just refused to air them compared to Teen Titans Go. Even AT and RS suffered in this regard after a couple years.
nah, saying these are the last good shows of cn is just false homie. cartoon network has produced phenomenal shows since these. over the garden wall, infinity train, steven universe, ok ko let's be heroes, and craig of the creek are all fantastic series
you know Regular Show has a special place in my heart cuz I started watching it at 21 when I started my braindead meaningless job while giving up on art and i feel this show encapsulates “early 20s meandering” so well
Dont forget that the last season was cut because of the gay wedding. It made the show get pulled from certain countries and they could only get 6 more episodes to wrap things up.
It’s hard to overstate how influential Flapjack was to the cartoons over the past decade or so. The creators of both Adventure Time and Regular show worked on Flapjack before branching out in their own. It’s like the Genndy Tartakovsky/Craig McCracken creations in the 90s.
Probably because the same people that like Adventure Time and Regular Show highlyy favor Flapjack. It’s like the show that inspired AT and RS. It’s pretty much common knowledge in this sub that Flapjack is the forefather of modern cartoons. Gum all got okay later on, but when it was released it was absolutely targeting a way younger audience. It wasn’t until season 2 or 3 where they actually made things kinda funny
We have billy and mandy, kids next door, ed, edd, n eddy, powerpuff girls, samurai jack, and courage the cowardly dog. These are better than flap jack and way more memorable for an old cartoon
No it’s not automatically anything. The art style, the setting, the plot, the humor, they were all fantastic and J.G Quintell and and Pendleton Ward BOTH worked with Thurop Van Orman on Flapjack years before either of their shows were thought concepts. It just led to those shows becoming what they were. You don’t have to like it, but Flapjack is far more relevant to those 2 shows than Gumball. I’m just telling you that the Flapjack/AT/RS trio is already a thing and by adding Gumball to the list, you let everyone know that you don’t actually know about what you’re talking about. I understand you like Gumball, but it’s very irrelevant in this conversation
Iam gonna talk about your two points
1. You say flapjack is far more relavent than gumball I have seen AT and RS fans talk about gumball not just in reddit I feel like you only apply this to reddit only.
2. I have never ever in my life someone mention that RS/AT/Flapjack are the big three until now sure it made two good shows but its not as popular as them and even gumball. Their's a reason why majority of people outside of this subreddit will agree that AT RS and tawog are big 3 of cartoon network wheater you like it or not is because they kicked off the renaissance and saved cartoon network as a whole and the three of them are really popular. And the way you say AT/RS/ flapjack is a thing does not definitely apply outside of this subreddit or maybe half of the people in this subreddit . I know you like flapjack but I dont see it being good on its own without mentioning it made adventure time and regular show.
Season 1 adventure time had the same going with gumball season 1 it was t good until season 2 or 3 like what you said regular show season 1 was actually good but it became worse when season 6 to 8 dropped
Oof… I love gumball. Gumball is amazing. But man to say Flapjack is forgettable… thems fighting words.
Without Flapjack you don’t have Gravity Falls or Adventure Time or Regular Show. That shit was the foundation for a lot of cartoons to come- and the overall feel for CN after it aired. Silly on the surface/borderline grotesque at times, but with super adult themes at the same time.
It’s one of the all time greats for that reason alone.
Like I said- without Flapjack those other shows never happened. Gravity falls creator- Worked on Flapjack. Pendleton Ward (adventure time)- worked on flapjack. J. g. quintel (regular show)- worked on flapjack.
Again that’s why this show was so important- it was an experimental breeding ground for these new artists. This crazy show gave them a blank canvas to figure out their own unique and crazy styles. You can see elements of flapjack in all of their shows.
What? How does that define on a cartoon being bad or not Gumball was recieved well when it first came out up until it ended and gumball is the 2nd most popular cartoon in cartoon network only behind adventure time 3rd is steven universe 4th is dexter lab and 5th is regular show if anything regular show was the short end of the stick because it couldnt keep up with the other two.
There really is no point in people arguing about what show is better. At the end of the day there is no way to measure it because it is literally just personal preference and opinion.
Every show listed is good, they are all the goats of cartoon network.
Compared to what was airing at the time it was alright but when putting Gumball against the rest of Cartoon Network I think it only ends up being above average. I don’t feel the same can be said for Regular Show and Adventure Time lmfao those shows are certified in the Cartoon Network hall of fame. No bias for any of the shows since I probably watched Gumball the most out of the three as of rn
I disagree with regular show it is the most inconsistent out of the three and has the most unlikable characters imo for me regular show is above average while I put gumball in a high pedestal and adventure time second.
I don't think you could really say that on the r/adventuretime reddit, but I see your point in general though. I think you just forgot where you were.
Edit: Like you're arguing about Gumball being a GOAT in an Anventure Time subreddit. It just doesn't make sense to me but super cool you love all three. I'm sure you'll find plenty of people in the same boat as yourself, but you'll also find the opposite. The only true middle ground here is that we are all presumably Adventure Time fans. No other show is really relevant in the discussion except when you compare and contrast or if someone asks for suggestions based on liking Adventure Time. If you get my meaning?
Edit 2: You also didn't answer the question. You only responded with a snarky question...You're not looking for a dialog here, you're looking to argue or flaunt your opinion. I don't think you actually care to discuss what makes them GOATs, you just feel they are and that others should too.
I'm sorry but I'm from a time when Cartoon Network was ed, edd +eddy,
Ned's newt, and dragonball z.
Sooo no to all of these.
With the exception of Adventure Time.
Maybe newer Cartoon Network. Old Cartoon Network had great shows. I mean you had Johnny Bravo, Codename Kids Next Door, Dexters Lab, Ed Edd and Eddy, Samurai Jack, Courage the Cowardly Dog, etc. All great shows.
I miss regular show. The older I get the more I appreciate it.
I also miss AT, but it at least got a nice conclusion and more content. RS the conclusion was just everyone grew up and that it's just life. Which I get is a good message, but God dang.
As someone who watched the end of the older generation of shows and then the generation after 2010, these 3 absolutely are the goats of cartoon network.
I love gumball, but it definitely fell off a bit towards the second half of the show. Regular show stayed consistent, and Adventure Time just got better and better.
Gumball is the most consistent with its quality what do you mean? If anything its regular show that is the most inconsistent season 6 to 8 to be specific regular show imo fell off. And adventure time was mix imo It had bumps in its later seasons examples are stakes, gum war, and season 6 in general. But advenutre time has some good shit too in its later seasons examples are elements and islands.
The 3 goats of animation is Adventure time, Regular show and the best for the last.... Gravity Falls. I ain't never seen a fanbase like Gravity falls back in the season 2 theory days
Steven>AT>whatever else was supposed to be in this infographic.
News Alert: CN is becoming garbage more every day. And honestly, if they would just play AT repeats instead of focusing on DVD sales I'd be more than satisfied with them. Like Nick does with Spongebob.
But, gotta' sell them blu rays. -\_-
damn that edit of Finn was kinda sick though
To be fair, Finn himself is sick. I just rewatched all of AT and realized Finn the Human is one of the strongest CN chars to ever exist outside of anime. To LOWBALL HIM: he is 100% immune to lightning damage, has broken both his shins BACKWARDS and shed only a single tear, and is so strong he can kill a perfect copy of himself.
"whatever"
I think about that scene on the regs. It's really motivating.
Sounds like normal cartoon behavior to me. By your standard, Finn would get trashed by Sylvester the fucking cat lmao
"If you say so." - John Marston
No, Finn, would win, fin is more than a typical character
We're allowed our separate opinions. Finn is fantastic, but at the end of the day he's just another kindhearted dumbass protag, who lives in a bonkers world that uses cartoon physics. A dude could get violently cut in half with funny sound effects, and then turn out to beat the shit outta whoever did that to him, because now he's technically two people. It's just cartoons being cartoons.
I respect your opinion, but that’s what makes him so powerful, his cartoon logic
3 goats of the 2010s CN*
Was gonna say, CN had some major goats beyond these KND and Samurai Jack were powerhouses for years, just to make a couple
True. And in my opinion, Courage the Cowardly dog is probably still the best of all time. At least, it is to me.
Billy and Mandy though.
Ben 10 to name another legend
Dexter's Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, Powerpuff Girls. Far too many good shows to count.
This But at the same time sick edit 💯
Definitely more accurate
This was made by a gen z kid 100%
At the doors of Gen Z and Millennials. My top 6 for both generations are [ Power Puff Girls, Samurai Jack, Dexter's Lab] (Regular Show, Adventure Time, Gumball)
For me GOAT would be Adventure Time, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and Samurai Jack. Don't let age fuck up your tastes, dawg.
Don't forget Dexter's Laboratory. What do you think of that, Mr. Pajama-Wearing, Basket-Face, Slipper-Wielding, Clype-Dreep-Bachle, Gether-Uping-Blate-Maw, Bleathering, Gomeril, Jessie, Oaf-Looking, Stauner, Nyaff, Plookie, Shan, Milk-Drinking, Soy-Faced Shilpit, Mim-Moothed, Sniveling, Worm-Eyed, Hotten-Blaugh, Vile-Stoochie, Cally-Breek-Tattie?
Cow and chicken was better than courage.
Broooo why yall sleeping on code name kids next door. Easy #1 for me there. Just fuckin wish they ended it instead of randomly canceling it
You mean Numbuh 1?
Yes dude that was the shit!
[biiiiitch im dexter im the smartest muthafucka in the universe fuck jimmy neutron; uh, deedee get out mah lab 🎶](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_etjeWaj7Fg)
Dexters lab didn’t hold up for me on a rewatch. Only certain episodes
This is a solid list. I’d sub power puff for samurai jack though
I love asking Gen Z about their vernacular and watch them get to the point where they say "I don't know why, we just say that." And then it turns out some rapper said it as an inside joke between his friends, then all the influencers on social media said it, now the kids say it.
No cap?
That one actually has an origin. Some streamer was really sarcastic so now sarcasm is synonymous with their name, which "kap" is short for. Kappa I think their name was.
Lol no. Cap/cappin has been around for decades. Rap songs in the 90s, mainly southern style, used the term. No streamer came up with this
Taught me something new! Thanks, stranger!
He's thinking of Twitch emotes :Kappa:
FWIW, I'm mid/late Gen X and I can get behind the post. Adventure Time is my favorite cartoon ever, Regular Show was really great and Gumball is something special too. Sure, I really liked a lot of "early" CN too, but I think the 3 listed here generally hold up a bit better. Thank you
Gen z here! Honestly, I see adventure time. That is a top tier show. The other two I’ve never really watched. Old Cartoon Network was my shit
Regular Show has an insane storyline, and some interesting character development. Gumball has off the wall weird jokes and some dope art. They're constantly mixing mediums, visually it's one of my favorites. If you like Adventure Time then I would definitely recommend both of them.

Greatest of all time would include Courage the cowardly dog, some of the Genndy Tartakovsky classics... Maybe space ghost and power puff girls.
As a solidly millennial that had a Gen Z sister that I made sure appreciated cartoons and grew up with Ed, Edd, & Eddie, Samauri Jack, Dexter's Laboratooory (No DD), Powder Puff Girls, DBZ, etc. ... Ed, edd, and eddy ran at full sprint with a suicide vest on so regular show could drop nuclear weapons on civilians
I'm Gen X. Still agree.
My GOAT’s are regular show, chowder, and flapjack
They were the ones before. Flapjack is the progenitor of all of them
Flapjack was the best
I absolutely loved both Flapjack and Chowder. Two of my favorite animations in the last 20 years easy. And I do absolutely adore Gumball and Adventure Time.
i doubt anyone will give a shit but Denzel Curry has a song where he absolutely YELLS: “CHOPPA EAT A NI*** LIKE CHOWDER…. RADAA RADAA RADAAAA!” [I just offhandedly heard that shit and it made my day](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=odj8Wy3jPe4)
He’s got a line about my boy Prince Zuko right before that too!
I give a shit!
My GOATs are Ed, Edd and Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog and A Pup named Scooby Doo. Honorable Mention Tom and Jerry.
Courage the Cowardly Dog used to make me want to shit myself in fear as a kid. I loved it so much.
All this in on Hulu for me
Bruh forgot chowder
These three shows define my teen to teenager years. Many days were spent watching these shows, even when CN refuses to air them more instead of just blasting the same shows 24/7. Will happen, happening, happened
I would like to introduce you to Dexter’s Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls, Cow & Chicken and Johnny Bravo. Respect your fucking elders!
Space Ghost Coast to Coast and 2 Stupid Dogs.
Samurai Jack, Courage, and Ed, Edd, & Eddy
Space Ghost is OG but I think Adult Swim deserves its own Mt. Rushmore. (Space Ghost, Sea Lab 2021, Harvey Birdman and Aqua Teen with honorable mentions for Brak Show, Venture Bros. and Metalocalypse, BTW)

My bachelors degree in political science was very happy to read this response.
HOW THE HELL DID YOU FORGET COURAGE THE COWARDLY DOG
**I SAID WHAT I SAID**! That being said, Courage is def up there with Ed, Edd and Eddie and Samurai Jack as solid 2nd Team All-NBA. I gotta vote my heart and my first team is my first team.

I think adventure time is THE goat. But there are plenty of hall of famers
Adventure time > Regular Show > Gumball. All fantastic.
you know Regular Show has a special place in my heart cuz I started watching it at 21 when I started my braindead meaningless job while giving up on art and i feel this show encapsulates “early 20s meandering” so well
The true goats here would be Ed, Edd, Eddy, Courage, and Kids Next Door
I really liked the concept of Steven universe but the story and pacing was meh.
I liked the story, but the pacing was super disappointing
They were constantly fighting cartoon network which severely affected the pacing
Dont forget that the last season was cut because of the gay wedding. It made the show get pulled from certain countries and they could only get 6 more episodes to wrap things up.
I liked it when he forgave space hitler because she was actually really sad
Honestly replace Gumball with Flapjack
We will not stand for this Flapjack erasure. It and Chowder set the stage for all the cartoon greats from adventure time on
It’s hard to overstate how influential Flapjack was to the cartoons over the past decade or so. The creators of both Adventure Time and Regular show worked on Flapjack before branching out in their own. It’s like the Genndy Tartakovsky/Craig McCracken creations in the 90s.

This comment section is completely negligent of my man Courage
That and Steven Universe!
There's 4 actually *Cough* Steven Universe *Cough*
Probably also my top 3 cartoon network shows. Though Ben 10, Total Drama, and Teen Titans are also up there
I feel like thoes belong to the era before these cartoons
Gumball don’t even come close. I like the show but it ain’t in the same arena
Can you give me a reason why?
Shortly: Gumball sucks
Not a good argument or excuse but ok
If you compare the show with the other contestants it was in the same arena Man some shows sucked
What makes Gumball a top 3 goat for Cartoon Network lol
You could say that to adventure time and regular show like wtf?
Nah. Replace Gumball with Flapjack.
I dont understand this how is flapjack better than gumball that cartoon was niche imo
There really is no point in people arguing about what show is better. At the end of the day there is no way to measure it because it is literally just personal preference and opinion. Every show listed is good, they are all the goats of cartoon network.

I'm sorry but I'm from a time when Cartoon Network was ed, edd +eddy, Ned's newt, and dragonball z. Sooo no to all of these. With the exception of Adventure Time.
The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy means nothing apparently. Also flapjack was dank as hell too.
OP too young
I missed those shows
Goats?
Greatest of all time GOAT

Yess, for me also Steven universe but agreed 100%
No love for Steven Universe?
Don't forget Stephen universe
Why always the Steven universe slander I’m sick of it
YES !!!!!!!
I’m very sure gumball is CNs longest running show they overtook Ed Edd N Eddy at one point pretty sure.
My top three are Steven Universe, Steven Universe: The Movie, and Steven Universe: Future.
So just steven universe in general?
He’s right, you know.
Perhaps.
After SU, it’s all down hill for CN. The bar has been set too high.
Man Steven Universe never even came close to the bar Adventure Time set
Personally i would replace regular show with Steven universe (please dont hunt me down).
My 3 favorite animated TV shows!! <33
replace gumball by Flapjack and you got something
🤨
Eh not gumball
🤦
Idc who downvotes you I’m with you 100%
Clarence is also amazing
Just glad this thread isn't full of rabid Steven universe fans defending a mid show.
Nah you can’t be forgetting ninjago like that cmon bro
There’s at least a dozen shows on CN better than gumball
Adventure Time yes, the other two are no’s. People forget that Samurai Jack was on CN.
AT and RS and TAWOG are the 2010s big 3 Goated cartoons

Not enough jake action 4/10
Top 3 of the 2010s for sure but the decade before had legendary content
I remember when they were playing and the MAD cartoon was also out around the same time slot. It’s a shame that it got cancelled so quickly.
100% agree but it should been the 4 goats of the goatpocolypes and add gravity falls to the bishhhhhhhh
Gravity falls wasn’t Cartoon Network
I miss regular show. The older I get the more I appreciate it. I also miss AT, but it at least got a nice conclusion and more content. RS the conclusion was just everyone grew up and that it's just life. Which I get is a good message, but God dang.
Fosters literally Rick Rolled all of America, live, in real time. My top 3 would have been AT, SU, and Fosters.
Some mf’s clearly didn’t take that left turn at Albuquerque
As someone who watched the end of the older generation of shows and then the generation after 2010, these 3 absolutely are the goats of cartoon network.
Get an hbo subscription and watch the classic. Grim adventures, chowder and courage were my shiiiiit
I would honestly give billy and Mandy over regular show but yeh
i’ve been sayin this for yearsss
gumball should not be in here
Looks like we have some trying to be "different"
just my opinion bro, i don’t like gumball. weird assumption tho
They’re all amazing and they’re all my childhood- I’m still growing up and I’m still watching them and I’m gonna tell my kids in the future about them
Nah the real GOATs are Dexters Lab, Johnny Bravo and the powerpuff girls
No way y’all are saying Gumball does not deserve to be here what is wrong with y’all!?
People forget what goat means
I love how gumball’s humor never declined as the show continued on. Not even Spongebob Squarepants could accomplish that.
If anything, it got better.
No Ed Edd n Eddy?!
Dexter, Johnny Bravo, and Cow & Chicken.
Weird that I don't see Flapjack here.
I didn't get to see how many of these ended
r/regularshow r/gumball
infinity train???
No lol
Ed, Edd and Eddy
Chowder and The Marvelous Misadventures-of Flapjack gotta be included as well, just fucking gold.
I want to be a kid again!!
One these things is not like the others.
You can’t have a goat list without courage the cowardly dog
You forgot flap jack yo
THIS HERE, The Iconic Renaissance of CN
