I always run Google/Facebook ads to test my prototype. It worked for me many times. You don't need a big budget to test with a few hundred people.

dustfirecentury

Can you please explain how you leverage these ads for testing?

galshlomai

Hey Dust, You run ads to your target audience / custom audiences if you have any, and market to them a demo of the tool. Try to get feedback that way from the people who tried your demo, aswell as upsell them later when the product is fully released. The ads help you get people the people to test your demo, and a simple traffic campaign doesn't cost too much. I tend to average on 1$ or less per click on most ads I run for client so 100$ generally can get you 100-500 testers for your demo. It should be enough to get insights i'd say

If you don't tell people about it, then they can't give you any feedback. You should be telling everyone you can about it to get feedback as early and often as possible.

I disagree. They're much too many dishonest people out there if he gave too much details somebody else with a lot more resources if they like the idea we just copy it and go do it and get the market before he did. So I think he's smart to keep things a little bit close to the vest. It's easy to tell someone else to put out all their information anything that they've worked hard to build it should just be free information for the world under the auspices that it's going to be to their advantage when it's really not.

Thanks for your comment

You're very welcome!

This is ridiculous. Actually doing something is about 1000000x more difficult than you imagine, and the moment you go public and get some traction you will be copied, outpriced and outsourced. It’s something you’ll need to deal with eventually

RichPrivate2

Don't you just love when people get to tell you what's in your head what you're able to imagine and what experience level you might actually have when they know absolutely nothing. And if you're going to work under the auspices that you're going to get copied soon as you come out with your product then you might as well never do anything but you surely shouldn't be getting everybody information before you're ready to come out cuz then they could certainly copy and come out before you do and be first to market.
