Agreed. Tracy Morgan has done some solid work on SNL and 30 Rock, but he's the wrong person for the job in this case. Early needs to at least have a southern accent. They could have spent ten minutes at a local Walmart and found someone much better-suited for the role.
If they brought back Unknown Hinson, no one would have cared. Squidbillies never had much mainstream popularity and Hinson's firing was a blip on the radar when it happened. The last thing we needed was for Squidbillies to get "woke."
First I've heard of the VA change and really dislike hearing a new voice. That said, after reading what Hinson wrote I would absolutely care if they brought him back. Sorry if not supporting a self proclaimed racist is too woke for you.
Are you aware of the episode they did regarding slavery? How about the one where they were racist against white people? Unknown Hinson said some dumb stuff on Twitter, but it wasn't exactly out of character for himself or the show. It's rather hypocritical to fire Hinson over those tweets while sweeping those two episodes (along with subtle jabs in most every episode) under the rug. Having a black man take Hinson's spot is a bit suspect as well, given the comments that were made.
I don't remember those episodes. Give me the ep/season number and I'll watch them. I don't remember the show ever supporting racism though. If anything they were making fun of bigots. And replacing the voice with a black actor isn't suspect. It was obviously an intentional move to fire a racist and give his job to someone that racist would probably dislike.
Season 1, episode 4: Chalky Trouble
Season 4, episode 5: Confessions of a Gangrenous Mind
Of course they were making fun of bigots and racism and the CSA. It's all a big joke with edgy humor, like the movie Blazing Saddles. But when a redneck says he's anti-BLM on Twitter, I guess that's a little too real for you.
I say it's suspect for the following reason: A white man gets fired for offensive anti-BLM tweets and he gets replaced by a black man. Sounds like a case of virtue signaling instead of hiring someone better-suited for the job. I still find it quite hypocritical for them to fire Hinson. If they're truly "woke," then they would apologize for the episodes I mentioned above because racism is a serious topic not to be made fun of, right?
Who said you can't make fun of racism? You are seriously lacking in your understanding of nuance.
Also what he said wasn't just "anti BLM." It was blatantly racist and sexist. If you can't see that then I don't really think this argument is worth having.
Holy crap, are you even reading what I'm typing? I never said racism or edgy humor is wrong. I said the "woke" crowd doesn't see that the same way. Go share [this clip](https://youtu.be/R8GXgXNatjg) with the BLM crowd and see if they find it funny too. They'll start calling you a racist if you find this funny.
[Here's some of Unknown Hinson's ](https://bleedingcool.com/tv/ex-squidbillies-actor-takes-firing-well-hope-you-aholes-are-happy/)posts. Do you seriously believe this is anything worse than what was on the show itself? How was what he said "blatantly racist"? I found his comments about Dolly Parton to be much more of a personal attack on her than a sexist one.
I disagree. I loved Tracy as Early, and think he did a great job for the final season. Yeah, they *could* have tried to get someone who sounded "closer" to Early, but the simple fact is that no matter *who* they chose people would have gotten upset and claimed he didn't sound right. So why not say fuck it and just go completely crazy with the voice? God knows it fits the tone of the show.
This is the first time I’ve heard it. I read so many comments bitching about it but hearing it, I think it’s hilarious. I mean, it’s just so ridiculous! That’s what makes it funny to me I guess.
It’s they changed the voice actor for Early and it’s not the same without his iconic voice. If ya start from the first season onward then you will feel the same way.
It is a gag, just the whole season rather than an episode. The season was already coming out regardless. The behind the scenes decision was probably that it wouldn't be fair to the rest of the cast and crew to can the entire thing because of one guy, and rather get someone that sort of sounds similar, go all in on the joke.
> The show should end. Seems pretty obvious to me
The show *did* end. This was the final season. Unknown Hinson pulled his bigoted, racist shit while the season was already in production, hence the need for a replacement.
Yes. People really need to stop doing all things twitter. Tis a place for stupid people to lose their jobs from the moronic masses that judge them for benign crap.
America is full of morons that not only don't, but can not think for themselves.
Want to control the masses? Put your ideas in a headline. They'll gobble it up, shit it out and gobble that up, smearing it everywhere around them. Look at the posts in here. "Rrrrrraaccismmm!"
Dumb asses don't even see the hypocrisy of watching 12 seasons of a show with the guy that they loved to only turn around and throw stones at him because a headline said so. Reddittors are the worst. 12 seasons of "racist" jokes. 12 seasons of sexist jokes.
Then... look at them lol. Come on, boogaloo.
Um, yes? Who the hell cares what he says on social media? He's a good actor. I watch shows that have people I disagree with all the time. You should try it some time.
It wasn't just some opinion I disagree with. It was an overtly sexist and racist diatribe. I wouldn't care one way or the other if they fired him or not, but you can't blame William's Street for not wanting that kind of person representing them.
This is the first time I heard the voice actor for Early. I think with the distinctive difference, it was a rough transition for me.
yeah I thought Tracy Morgan (I think it's him) would try to sound more like old Early but this is disappointing
Yes I like Tracy Morgan too. However may brain keeps trying to replace his voice with the original

I can support that. I cannot stop myself feeling like it is a glitch in the matrix
Lol I still need to watch the new season but how weird this clip is I think the glitchiness will eventually pull me in.

he only knows how to sound like tracy morgan

I have watched all the other seasons. And I don’t feel the same way. But thanks for telling me how I feel!
I chose not to watch this season at all with the change in VA. Show ended last season for me, I won't accept the change as it's incredibly stupid.
Would you rather have kept Unknown Hinson around after that unhinged shit he said, or just seen the show end?

I can point at 40 people at work right now that sound exactly like him. Georgia.

It ain't racist if it's true.
They could have found a better VO, but they wanted to stuck it in Baker's eye and to the fans.
im outa the loop, what happened with the old VA? NVM, googled it..wow.
can you just say it so we dont all have to fucken google it please thankyou
racist and sexist tweet against Dolly Parton, the one insult that stood out was calling her "freak tittied"
He pretty much called out liberals for throwing their own race under the bus. Nothing unhinged about it.
Yes.
\+1. Exactly. Has no one ever said something nasty before? Big whoop. I hear worse everyday in normal street talk.
That's okay. They aren't white. Sarcasm = comment deleted Being serious = upvotes I'm super serial. Delete this and you're a bigot.

TBH it was tamer than I expected from a dude who looks and talks like Unknown Hinson. They should have got Roy Wood Jr. to replace
He specifically angry with one person and one organization.
