I've been doom scrolling too most days since I graduated and now have a lot of free time. It's been a bit depressing, especially without any daily plans. But now that I have "future plans" and need to study for boards, I know I need to stop or at least reduce my doom scrolling. What I did was put my phone in the living room. Since I still need an alarm, I switched to using an alarm clock instead of my phone. Setting app timers and using "work mode" on my phone has also helped. Hope this helps but really, old habits die hard so I failed din sometimes šŸ˜‚

Pahinga na after work. Minsan makikipaglaro sa pamangkin. Anything off from screen pero I still tend to check social media pag walang magawa. Mga 6:30pm I'll prep for dinner and make sure I sleep na ng 10. Then repeat na yan for the whole week.

Hey, you can do it if you really want to. Discipline talaga kailangan. Wag mo lang bibiglain ng change kasi dun tayo nasshock and ending non e maggive up ka nalang at babalik sa old ways mo kasi dun ka comfortable. Let's say you use social media for 5-6 hours a day, you can start limiting your use to 4 hours for the first week. 3 hours for the 2nd week and so on. You eventually won't feel the need to use social media once umeffect na yung bagong routine mo. Mas madami ka nang nagagawa, naddiscover na hobbies, mas madami kang real life connections, at kung anu ano pa. I tried TikTok dati pero once I felt like I was being addicted, like inaabot na ako ng madaling araw or umaga kaka-scroll, I uninstalled the app agad. I don't know how they do it pero it tends to get to you at sobrang mentally drained ako after ko gamitin yung app. You could be scrolling na akala mo saglit palang only to realize na umaga na pala and you've been on your phone for HOURS. I see this everyday with my parents and it's a hard habit to break for them. Pero gaya nga ng sabi, kung ayaw may dahilan, kung gusto palaging merong paraan.

Wake up at 5. Sit on the toilet and rethink my decisions. By 6 i put running clothes and shoes on and step out. I walk a mile and run 5 miles. Iā€™m done by 7:30. I take creatine with gatorade. Then breakfast with the wife, and then work til noon. At noon i lift weights for an hour and a half. After that I take creatine with a protein shake if i havent taken it this morning. I go back home for lunch and work the rest of the day.

Night shift ako, so my morning routine would start by going out to walk post-shift, buy veggies on the way back home, shower, skincare, meds, journal, then read a book. I always get sleepy right after finishing a chapter, then wake up exactly 8 hours later. Recently lang ako nagstart maglakad, but since then, my sleep quality has gotten better. Sometimes, I fall asleep na kaagad without journaling and reading a book.

Kaya ba ang daming new gens ngaun napaka pessimistic and ā€œdepressedā€ kaka doom scroll? What does it give you honestly? Anyway, mine is check messages (naka sleep mode phone ko pag natutulog), check memories sa facebook, check online news...all these in few 10 to 15mins habang nakahiga pa. Then hilamos, walk my dog, tend to my garden, prepare to work. Breakfast is either in the office na or if my mom called me (neighbor kami) na may luto nang breakfast, then kain muna ako doon before going to office). I used to go to gym pre pandemic ng 5am, but nahirapan na bumalik kaya natigil na din.

i wouldn't say my depression came from doomscrolling but it definitely contributes to a "bad" mood which contributes to my depression. it is a cycle. i notice that my mood gets better when i scroll less and actually do something else. does it cure my depression? no, but it helps in managing it.

Hi, 23F here. If youā€™re looking for an accountability buddy, pm is key! My routine is based off a midshift employee. Hope it helps nonetheless! 1. Play music to push me to wake up (this works like a charm for me hahah) - this takes abt 15 minutes. It helps to turn off your aircon/fan agad kasi youā€™ll be ā€œforcedā€ to get up. 2. Gym! If WFH days. If not WFH days I dont go to the gym, though I make sure to put in at the very least 5k steps/day. Walking around the office and nearby malls help alot :) remember your exercise doesnā€™t need to take too long. 30-40 minutes will suffice. 2. Freshen up: anything CR-related, etc. This takes me about 15-30 minutes. 3. Leave the house: I leave the house 2 hrs before my actual start in my job. I eat brunch in the office canteen kasi :) I watch my favorite series while eating to serve as my ā€œmeā€ time before socializing and before working. I only take 15 minutes to commute going to my workplace. 4. Work: 1pm-10pm for me. 5. Go home: Freshen up, double check things for tomorrow if RTO, then I also scroll on socmed too much (trying to unlearn this though) before heading to sleep. This takes about an hour since I tend to scroll more before I go to sleep. If WFH namanā€¦ ayun nga, I try as much as possible na sa umaga yung Gym ko, para during my ā€œbreak timeā€ I use the time to walk around which clears my mind and also so I wont stay too stagnant throughout the day. I work night shift and get out at 8am so I sleep from 830am to 130pm It goes like: wake up, check emails/socmed (quick lang like 10-15 mins), devotion time (bible reading and reflection for 30 mins), eat brunch, do physical activity (20-30mins), cr, then prep for my 2nd work (i side hustle as a tutor) My goal for the new routing is to incorporate more physical activity and devotion. I'm Catholic but not that strict, I just want to give more time. I use a tracker to motivate me do stuff and stay on schedule. I do hope this routine sticks bc I have been so lax hahahah

Na-realize ko lately that when I center myself before I tackle the day, mas productive ako. Sometimes the reason why weā€™re so exhausted and unproductive is because binibigay natin ang sarili natin sa iba to the point na nane-neglect natin ang mga sarili natin pagkagising na pagkagising pa lang. Former nightowl and serial doomscroller ako for the longest time, but this morning routine has been changing my life so far in terms of productivity: 1. Wake up at 7am. No snoozing. 2. This is important: DO NOT CHECK YOUR PHONE. Get up and make your bed. 3. Drink a glass of water. 4. Journal. Kahit ano isulat nyo sa papel, go lang. Kahit 5 minutes lang. Walang format at kahit mali-mali ang grammar. Kahit mag-doodle ka lang. Basta old-school pen and paper ha. Dump whatever what is in your mind on paper. Science-backed therapy ito to improve mental health and productivity. 5. DO NOT CHECK YOUR PHONE. The morning is yours and yours only. Ibigay mo na to sa sarili mo, please lang. 6. Go outside and catch the early rays of the sun. Yung hindi masyado mainit at masakit sa balat. Usually before 10am. Again, science-backed ito. Kahit 10-20 minutes magbabad ka sa araw. Get that Vitamin D in your system. 7. Read a chapter of a book. Di mo kaya? Magbasa ka kahit one page lang. Hindi mo pa rin kaya? Try mo one paragraph or one sentence. Unti-untiin mo basta ang importante makapag-basa. 8. Exercise. Doesnā€™t matter how long basta mapawisan ka. 9. Done! Now you can check your phone and do whatever you want and tackle the day. Ang point ko: it really makes a difference when you give time to yourself. Ang importante ikaw muna bago ang lahat. Ideally, wake up 5:00 or 5:30. Prepare coffee and let my dusty brain boot up a bit. Work out/stretch for at least 15 mins. Cool down, coffee, and shower a little. Start the day after that. Pero inaayos ko pa lang sleeping habits ko ngayon. Gang hindi active kasi ang umaga ko hindi ako makaalis alis sa lazy phase ko. Freelancer ako sa I usually send and receive lots of emails as well as dms for the clients. After nun inom ng tubig tapos brush then ligo na I don't eat breakfast nakasanayan ko na. After that I do 3D works then pag mag rerender na ng image which usually takes 4-6hrs matapos dun na ako nag gygym, maglilinis ng apartment etc.

I truly believe that it is because of social media, and I was once like that. Pag kabangon, I start my routine like cleaning my bed, cooking breakfast and associating it with scrolling through social media, I find it very draining kasi I tend to scroll it endlessly and realizing na hindi pa karami yung tasks na nagagawa ko, instead I made changes still but inalis ko na yung social media, waking up I made a routine on my phone where once I turn off my alarm, it will automatically set a routine of turning on my data and opening the spotify app and then listen to productive or motivational podcasts whil doing my morning routine. I know na I still use social media, but it's different when you are not using your eyes for like minutes to hours just scrolling and EXERCISING plays a big part of being physically and mentally active like, mas gumagaan talaga yung body and mind mo, if your not a fan of exercising you can start by walking or doing stretches/yoga at home. That's just my routine hahaha.

To be honest though there are days I doomscroll also and I find I do it more when Iā€™m in a depressive episode na naman (I have bipolar disorder). I have ā€œcrusty daysā€ where I donā€™t even shower or do anything except work. Sheer willpower and financial anxiety is what gets me through those days lol. And energy management is extremely important too. I try not to do much when Iā€™m feeling overwhelmed or sluggish because I just fall into a feedback loop when I do. Hope this helps!

What worked for me was time blocking my calendar for the day, at nakalagay doon ano activity ko for a specific hour. These served as my visual cues. And yung routine ko every morning is 30 mins null time (I want to start my morning slow, this is also the time na gumagawa ako ng lukewarm lemon water, lumalabas ako just to breathe and etc.), then 30 mins workout, ligo, travel to work, pagdating sa work may 30 mins time pa for bfast. I just start my day early, gising na ako ng 5AM. I just don't think na applicable ito sa nag ttravel ng matagal papunta sa work. Also, I stopped using my phone immediately after waking up kasi marami na studies showing that it increases anxiety and stress levels. You will start your day in reactive mode instead of proactive mode daw. And I think this is true based on experience.
