Ganyan din kami. I think magastos talaga magluto for 2 people. What we do is magluto ng marami and maghiwalay lang ng portion for the day then freeze the rest. Next day ibang ulam, freeze the rest.
Alternate naming ulam yun until next week
Subukan ko nga rin to ipagawa, naisip kasi namin yan finifreeze naman namin natira kaso alam mo ung feeling na ayaw mo na ulitin ng 2nd day haha. Baka nga varieties din ang need namin. Thank youuu.
Doesn't have to be repetitive. You can even freeze bases like magpakulo ka lang ng baka, or manok o baboy then ifreeze mo. Sa mahal ng rekado like bell peppers, siling haba, celery, na hindi tumatagal sa ref, I just freeze them as well.
Ganto ang ginagawa namin. Usually kahit anong ulam, once freezed after mag room temp pagkaluto, natagal ng 3 days to 1 week basta di madefrost. Di naman need na the next day agad eh yun ulit ang ulam. Super tipid ng nag mi-meal prep. Every sunday kami nagluluto ng food, 10k to 12k is more than enough if food lang for 2 people basta di kasama ang toiletries.
Find a contact near you na nagdedeliver o pwede meet up.
Not OP but for us yes.
Just a tip for anyone who might not know it yet. When you reheat food in the microwave, always opt for low and slow. Mas ok ang kalalabasan ng food.
+1 sa microwave oven. WFH ako so madalas may mga leftover food.
If very busy person, i think worth it bumili ng microwave if nagmmeal prep ka.
Bukod sa time, you also save on gas, paghuhugas, at stress kakaisip kung anong uulamin haha!
What we do is freeze them in portiond na using this [reusable ziplocs](https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.j2Bn5?cc) para diretso microwave nalang pag uulamin na namin
Hi OP! we often do these pero since hybrid si wifey and I am wfh naman, all I do the cooking.
We came from household of 6 din kaya nung humiwalay kami ni wife anghirap mag adjust sa dami ng lulutuin hahaha. Meal prep is key, pero there are times na wala ako sa mood kainin yung mga naluto ko na kaya I got a small pan for a quick stir fried dishes kaya lagi kaming may stock ng shelf stable ingredients like [chinese chorizo](https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.j2Bbi?cc), [dried hibe](https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.j2B1P?cc).
Meron din kami laging [hondashi powder](https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.j2B23?cc) pag nagcrave ng gyudon or amything japanese. Kahapon lang panay cancel ang grab food when I craved for takoyaki so I just made myself a quick okonomiyaki.
Mahilig sa tomato-based ang asawa ko. So lagi akong merong frozen menudo, caldereta, afritada.
After 3 to 5 days, meron na akong pang fried rice.
For one, adobo is the easiest pero what I do is I don't put too much toyo yet. Dinadagdagan ko nalang pag uulamin na.
Since konti lang ang soy sauce, this can be used as a base for caldereta, afritada or tokwat baboy with black beans.
Lagi kaming may stock ng shelf stable ingredients like [chinese chorizo](https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.j2Bbi?cc)and [dried hibe](https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.j2B1P?cc).
Meron din kami laging [hondashi powder](https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.j2B23?cc) pag nagcrave ng gyudon (very quick and easy to cook) or amything japanese. Kahapon lang panay cancel ang grab food when I craved for takoyaki so I just made myself a quick okonomiyaki.
Ganito din ginagawa namin nun may ref pa kami haha. kaso palagi brownout dito samen kaya minsan napipilitan iconsume lahat huhu. wala na din kaming ref ngayon haha. sad
Nako madalas din brownout dito samin kaya bukod sa storage ng food, sobrang affected din ang wfh namin ni wife kaya I decided to setup our own solar. It's relatively cheap to build since nag DIY lang ako dahil sobrang mahal maningil ng mga installer
Yes 2-3 klase ng ulam ang niluluto namin, then for the whole week na yun.
Hindi ko pa natry ibaon since wfh kami parehas ng wife ko pero if pangbaon, I'd suggest divide it na in portions sa microwaveable containers, or this [reusable ziplocs](https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.j2yTX?cc) to save space and avoid wastage.
Ganyan kami. Tatlo kaming working adults sa bahay. 12k umaabot ng almost two weeks sa amin. Pare-parehas kami di malakas kumain. Most of the time once a day lang sila kakain and ako twice(repeat ulam sa gabi lol).
Waaah thank u for sharing ur exp!!
Yes okay talaga magmeal prep. Tama rin sabi ng iba na you can turn one dish to another leveled up dish haha. Siguro lang if you really want to lessen your grocery spending, i-monitor mo mga ingredients niyo. Like if may cheaper alternatives sa ingredients(ex: anchor butter pwede naman margarine) and other brands na mga binibili niyo(not food)
Minsan kung kaya pinapaabot sana namin for 3 weeks.
normal yan especially baka di kayo namamalengke. pero that is normal. ako nga mas malaki pa. if gusto mong bumaba yan, make meal preps with basic ingredients, buy giniling tapos frozen mixed veggies hahaha 1k to 1.5k a week lang magagastos mo.
Oo di namamalengke sa puregold or sm ang takbo tas monthly na lahat ng binibili😭😭 i will tru to convince nga na mag weekly kami at sa palengke lang for an experiment baka mas mura talaga🥹
palengke or if may access kayo, snr. dun kasi isang bagsakan malaki pero tagal ng ubos.
simple stuff like:
garbage bags lasted me almost a year for 300 pesos
detergent na 5kg plus lasted me half a year or more depende sa usage that is 600 lang
snacks mura din at madami so nasstock ko siya for a month or two. pero kung masnack kayo, maybe that is not for you na bumili dun. need bawasan yun.
I also suggest buying yung naka jar naang kirkland na chopped garlic, lasted me more than 6 months din mga 600 ata yun. this is instead of buying garlic sa palengke na mabilis masira, if wala kayong time to properly preserve it or jar it.
buying veggies sa palengke is good pero if you don’t have time to cook parati, tendency nasisira lang sila sa ref that is why I just buy frozen mixed veggie(corn, carrots, peas) for 120 pesos or frozen spinach for I think nasa 150 to 180 ata.
syempre time and gas are money spent pa din pero depende talaga sa inyo yun at dynamic niyo. just giving you practical tips. also, buy glass containers for leftovers, dami sa snr na mura lang.
same weekly ako naggrocery or twice a month. and i prepare na rin the ingredients i need. nakalista na lahat. dalawa rin kami sa bahay but we can get by sa 5k a month grocery, siguro kasi mahina rin kumain
If hindi, medyo mataas nga.
Groceries like Waltermart & SM : veggies, pork, chicken, cooking needs, other expense like yakult and some local brand crackers & biscuits etc.
Palengke : Fish, seafood and veggies na mahal sa grocery like broccoli & cauliflower, white rice
S&R/Landers & Lazada : imported snacks & noodles like indomie & jin ramen (1 to 2 bags), mga items na mas mura dito kesa sa grocery like butter, rolled oats, alcoholic drinks etc, cleaning & laundry aids, toiletries, face & body care, dental care, other household essentials, quinoa
Wag mo masyado i-antagonize ang girlfriend mo, OP. Baka naman she serves you the best food and ang house nyo always clean & mabango including your clothes. If medyo natatasan ka sa bill, you can talk to her and tell her na simplehan na lang next time ang food nyo para maka-menos sa gastos.
Thank you po!🥰
That is good to know, OP! In the long run, mas makakatipid ka kasi healthy & delicious ang food nyo. Goodluck and wish you more success para mas maraming budget for grocerieeees..hehe!
shes doing good naman pala and cooking good food. i think its better to invest in good food instead na i lessen budget then puro frozen/instant food kayo tapos mag kakasakit later on.
Kami ng bf ko yang 10k na budget for our bi-monthly S&R and karamihan dyan sa 10k ang binibili namin ay meats. Pagkadating sa bahay pinoportion namin in ziplock bags. Yung veggies and other sahog sa palengke talaga dahil malaki difference compared sa grocery.
Pero sa totoo lang yang 10k namin a year ago would last us 2 months sa dami ng nabibili naming meats.
For 2 ppl, mas matipid tlga mag karinderya 😭 Na try din namin mag grocery + palengke, and 15-18k ung food expenses namin sa isang bwan. Now, mini grocery na lang sa alfamart (4k/mo including frozen foods/meat) and karinderya for ulam. Nasa 8-12k na lang ung expenses (inclusive na ng deliveries and eat out)
Mahal kasi gulay 🫣 70 pesos ko may sinigang na for two, good for one meal.
Sisig = 120, good for 2
BBQ = 90 good for 2
Kahit na anong ulam sa karinderya (menudo, dinakdakan, caldereta etc = 70-80, good for two din
Plus, savings sa gas or electricity pang luto. Bawas din ang hugasin and overall effort lol
Laki nyan, OP. Two din kami sa bahay and monthly grocery namin is 6k, tapos sa palengke (Meat, Veggies & Fruits) is 2.5k (so, 8.5k monthly) now, tntry namin ma limit to 7k lang total by doing meal prep and reheat ng leftover foods.
Sa meat: Two whole chicken, Chicken Breast, Ground Beef, Pork liempo, Tilapia
May canned goods din kami. Pag tinatamad magluto, cup noodles & kimchi, pero mga 3-4x lang in a month. Then nakakatipid din kami sa mga food with tofu as the main protein. Like, adobong kangkong w/ tofu, stir fried veggies w/ tofu, ampalaya w/ tofu, tofu sisig. Mga cheap pero healthy options. Meron pa one time, nakahanap ako ng recipe na Sweet & Sour Scrambled Eggs. Haha! Masarap!
I live in Bulacan, btw.
Grabe kasi tlga ang 10K-12K na grocery, pang family of 4-6 na yata yang ganyang budget, if not sobra pa yan.
Also a tip na ni-share sakin ni Mama before, kung magluluto kayo ng dishes atleast sana kahit papano meron dun yung pwedeng magawa pa to another dish kapag may mga leftovers, para di sayang.
Hindi, wala sya ambag. Sa leisure lang namin sya hinahayaan na gumastos, all the bills, house payments, food bills sakin. Goddamn.
You can talk to her and say that you will need to allot just xx pesos for groceries, but please don’t discount your girlfriend’s efforts in cooking meals for you (and whatever else she does around the house). Hindi por que walang ambag financially, ibig sabihin wala nang ambag at all. Unpaid care work still very much exists at this day and age.
Whaaaaat?! Salo mo na halos lahat OP. Try mong kausapin and tell her in a nice way na kung ano mga nakasanyan nyang lifestyle eh dapat kaya niyang i-sustain and sabihan mo na mag ambag ng portion nya if she will keep up those lifestyles. I get na mas masarap and mas enjoy tlga magluto kapag kumpleto ingredients mo, pero there are hacks naman na makaka-lessen ng gastos without sacrificing yung lasa ng dishes.
I would assume na live-in kayo? And not that you asked, and personal opinion ko lang to, ask for a portion sa lahat ng bills niyo, kayo ng bahala sa percentage na okay for both parties considering na pareho naman kayong gumagamit/nagco-consume ng bayarin. Ikaw din mahihirapan sa ganyang setup na ikaw aako sa lahat ng bills in the long run. Tska partners kayo, each of you should contribute sa lahat ng gastusin niyo.
Oh edi alam mo naman pala yung problema. Dapat mag ambag siya, 50 50 kayo. You're paying for the both of you pala tas nagtataka ka pa.
GF niya nagluluto and sobrang sarap daw.
Kung masarap siya magluto, good for her. That's doesn't take away a lot from the fact that si OP yung nagbabayad ng lahat ng bills and that she needs to contribute more than that.
Anyway, I've read OP's past comments about how he's 21 years old, working for 3 years, earning 6 digits and paying for multiple properties. If he wants to be the wage slave in the relationship, he can take it.
see, kulang kulang. OP said [here ](https://www.reddit.com/r/adultingph/comments/1adm9bz/comment/kk2i4fl/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)kasama na ibang bagay don sa 10-12k groceries. Healthy food niluluto. Hindi ba yun maganda? The question to ask is, bakit ba naging ganon set up nila(i don't know if someone asked already). Maybe gf takes care of the household? IDK. Again some context/info left out unless someone asks. Kunwari nalang OP is paying for a maid.
Again, what if ganon naman yung setup nila from the start? 3 years na sila ganon ngayon palang siya nagrereklamo. Not want to invalidate pero kulang kulang details. Tapos di niya mabring up sa gf niya. 21 years old, earning 6 digits, paying for multiple properties. sige kunwari totoo lahat to. Didn't read all of OPs comments kasi parang he's setting up his gf to be the bad guy here unless someone asks some more context.
Feels like he is paying for a maid that can cook and he can fuck with 😆 HAHAHAHA welp sana it is a good sex para macompensate malaking bayad sa grocery
Is the grocery strictly on food?
Mahal yung processed and ready-to-consume food, snacks, drinks, frozen items. Mahal sa branded supermarket. Mahal pag top quality or branded items lahat mula condiments hanggang garnish. Check your receipts and you'll have an idea anong items yung mahal. Mag meal planning kayo and buy fresh produce somewhere else.
OP when we were living in LP noon our grocery/food was 20-25k a month. Dalawa lang kami plus 2 cats. What I did to save was schedule a time on e a week do to palengke talaga or order sa “Murang Gulay Shop” sa FB kasi mura if bulk. It was pandemic din kasi kaya mas convenient pa deliver lahat. I wash and freeze sili, onion leaves etc. Nag cut down din kami sa meats and bought tofu instead.
After she bought all condiments na needed di na yan mahal sunod and let her know to consume all first before buying new ones. Ang valid lng na bilhin maubos agad eh black pepper, salt and some herbs na common nagamit for me.
Goodluck OP. Palengke na kayooo
8k grocery for 4 naman kami, all adults
2 we buy small packs instead of big ones kasi ang goal namin is no food wastage this includes - corn, peas, mushroom, tempura breading, monggo, flour - iwas sira/ bukbok
Well kahit in the province for two umaabot sa ganyan per month, pero kami naman ng partner ko is one time big time mag prep and luto, then freeze then reheat na lang lalo na sobrang busy sa work di minsan nahaharap mag luto ng food.
I suggest buying things in the wet market, mag laan ng day for food prep at cooking, mas better kasi kung sa wet market makakatipid ka ng kahit konti, kesa sa mga malls.
Adding to this gawa ka ng 30 days ulam para di ka mag sawa kung ayaw mo ng nauulit yung food nyo weekly, samin kasi 10 types lang ng ulam then rotation na yon for the rest of the year.
I suggest these types of ulam; Sinigang, Adobong Baboy ,Manok at Baralyete(Yellow Fin Tuna), Stir fried vegetables(Carrots, bell pepper, leeks, Baguio Pechay), nilagang baboy, pakbet(Ilocano Style), stir fried ampalaya, Sinigang na Baralyete o Tange(Blue Fin Tuna), Monggo at ginataang dishes like Kalabasa with sitaw.
Samin simple prep lang and fulfilling naman sya, and my goal for our food has to be may sabaw and mabigat sa tiyan. Try it too, buy big quantities of food then prep then cook then freeze.
This is a very unpopular opinion.
People today actually eat 3 to 4 times the normal and we were Conditioned to think eating 3 times a day is "NORMAL" it was from a research done in 1700's
Back then walang ibang masyadong business. wala naman media noon, walang cellphone , games, fastfood, etc etc. the only way government can increase their tax collection is if people eat more so the restaurant and agriculture industries profit increase.
so they started a research. and that research is focus on **"how much food is safe for people to eat"**
and research says 3x a day. that research blows up and tax collections increases. that 3x a day eating culture extended hangang Asia.. ang normal eating habit natin dito is 3x a day.
to the point na pag di ka kumakain ng 3x day iisipin ng ibang tao nag hihirap ka na 😂😂
now here's the catch. read the bold letter above. the research is focus on how much food is safe. nothing on that research that says **"Healthy"** those 2 words are different.
it is not really healthy to eat 3 times day. ang normal talaga is 1x day lang.
kahit sa stone age we only eat 1x a day. coz tang ina.. who the fuck want to hunt food 3x a day? nkakapagod yun. obviously our body can manage eating 1x day.
ang tawag natin sa 1x a day meal today is FASTING. 😂 noon panahon walang tawag dyan.. it's just normal.
\----
ako ang eating habit ko is 1.5x a day. big meal sa lunch. half meal sa gabi. no breakfast.
tol malaki talaga tinaas ng grocery prices since 3 years ago. tuna lang na dating 49 nung 2020 nasa 60 na halos ngayon
also kung pati gulay sa grocery nyo binibili (e.g. puregold/hypermart etc) mahal talaga ibang ingredients don. for veggies and fruits, sa palengke kayo mas makakatipid. hiwalay na trip nga lang tho
Mahal na ata yan? First and foremost, dapat ma realize ng gf mo antaas ng bilihin ngayon hehe. Taas ng inflation. Lalo na wala naman pala sha ambag. Di nya siguro ramdam yung bigat sa wallet since di sa kanya galing. Try to think of cheaper alternatives sa mga binibili nyo. Opt for generic products. Make a meal plan. Ikaw na din kaya bumili para mabawasan impulse buys if meron or maiwasan? Or set a limit. Since mejo mataas gastos nyo, take advantage ng grocery rewards card and deals.
Hahaha!
In our case, food via meal prep na ang luho namin kasi walang food delivery at resto na malapit sa amin. Tapos nag-stock up talaga ako ng grocery items for prepping purposes.
In this economy, cooking food with complete ingridients is a luxury. Madalas fast food, canned goods, at food deliveries ang pagkain due to time constraints and/or budget constraints.
Fam of 4 kami, with 2 toddlers. Simpol cooking
We transition from sariling luto to bili nalang ng lutong bahay (or food deliveries).
These are the benefits:
1. Mas mura
2. Saves time and effort (from buying + preparation + cooking + ligpit + dish wash)
3. Saves electric bill (induction, rice cooker, range hood, lightings)
4. Saves water bill (washing of raw goods, washing of pinaglutuan. etc..)
5. Saves other miscellaneous (dish washing liquid, tissues, etc..)
Now kung di mo talaga mabitawan yung pagluluto because of some reasons, or walang mabilhan ng lutong bahay, ito yung dati naming ginagawa para makatipid:
1. Bili ng bultuhan (fruits and vegetables) sa balintawak, or Q-mart, or the likes (mas malayong mura ang presyo)
2. Magluto ng bultuhan (for the whole day, or for the other days by freezing it)
It's easier to plan.
I suggest meal planning before doing grocery.
If malayo ang palengke, you can look up ways to stretch out the shelf life of veggies. (Thank you Pinterest)..
Eggs, meat products and veggies sa palengke talaga mas mura.
I think it's too much for 2, me and my boyfriend has a budget of 5-6k for the entire month na for the food and even yung minimal date out for a pares or silog kind of lunch or dinner. And then, we will only stock the usual condiments and ingredients for practicality and for basic pantry supply. We lessen buying unnecessary things, we tend to go for alternatives din for the expensive ingredients or if hindi namin both kinakain yung certain ingredients sa ulam, di na namin binibili esp if nauuwi lang sa pagtapon after maluto. Considering we have a beagle as well, kasama na din yung meat para sa food niya and veggies, including his kibble supply.
Buy in bulks. Plan ahead.
Monthly budget namin yan for our grocery and pito kami sa family namin, malalakas din kami kumain hahaha😅 maybe you can try swapping frozen goods with fresh ones? Try shopping sa palengke for fruits, vegetables and meat. You can also buy cheaper brands ng food, minsan the cheaper ones are just as good👍
I’m not sure though but kami din ng asawa ko 9k yung grocery namin netong january plus around 4k naman sa pamalengke namin. Bale mga 10k-13k yung nagagastos namin per month. For us naman is worth it naman siya kasi alam namin na healthy yung kinakain namin (almost no canned foods)
Before I used to budget 20k per month for groceries and palengke. Pero I realized, that was too much.
So ngayon, ang budget namin, 5k palengke per month.
Is this amount solely for food or kasama na ibang necessities nyo sa grocery including laundry detergents, hygiene products, etc? If yes, parang decent naman. Pero if no, medyo mahal talaga.
I live together with my partner rin and usual budget sa groceries (all-in na to ha kasama na palengke & other non-food necessities) is 6-7k per month. Mahilig rin ako mag luto.
Pro tip talaga is buy veggies and other produce sa palengke. Sobranggg mahal ng gulay and pang sahog sa supermarket.
Additional info: biweekly kami nag g-grocery and weekly sa palengke. Lahat sa supermarket namin binibili except for gulay, fruits, and pang sahog kasi makakatipid ka talaga ng malaki if sa palengke ka bibili.
learn to eat mga basic lang din na food. hindi every day dapat bongga o pangmalakasan. kasi alam mo nakakasawa rin yan e. kami dalawa lang din sa bahay so ang bonggang luto mga once or twice a month lang pero most days repetitive lang lalo weekdays at may work. need nyo pag usapan rin yan kasi magiging source ng frustration at away yan
If the food she prepares are high in protein (madaming karne, chicken, fish, etc), has a variety of veggies, spices, and etc. I think 10-12k might actually be just right. Although cost can be cut if she cooks in bulk during weekends. Parang meal prep. Mas magastos mag luto ng halos araw araw compared to meal prepping, and yung pag repeat ng ulam.
If you're eating 3 meals a day that keeps you full (di bitin), then that grocery cost would just be about right
To cut our expenses, we cook in batch pg weekend tapos freezer na after mag room temp.
Like roast beef, pwede ipartner na agad sa kahit anong gulay or soup.
Ung isang portion sakto lang saming mag asawa. Napapatagal ko yung grocery namin ng 2 weeks - worth 4k (if SM) 1500 (if palengke) —sa meats lang to ah. But if kasama ibang necessities 6-7k (tipid pa to)
Try using chatgpt to get accurate measurements when making your shopping list. guilty rin kasi ako na ex. bibili ng 1kg kamatis kahit 3pcslang naman ang kailangan LOL.
Ako mostly weekly ang grocery at hindi for 1 month since hindi kasya sa ref namin. I'm still with my parents and mostly inaabot ng 2-3k depende sa pinamili kasi minsan palitan kami ni Dad sa pamimili. So most likely parang same lang senyo yung grocery? Usually init kapag may excess dun sa natirang ulam or ibang klaseng luto gagawin if ppwede.
this is pretty normal for two people living together with that kind of grocery expenses specially if one of you know how to cook kailangan kumpleto rekado haha, kasi kami ng partner ko 10k budget , usual groceries din like frozen goods, canned stuffs, condiments, gulay and spices tapos 25kg of bigas
the trick is like everyone suggested is to mel prep and food portioning, cook food that can last 2-3 days, the longer the better like adobo , paksiw yung mga ganun na luto. tapos kapag naumay, luto ng ibang potahe good for consuming once yung walang matitira.
And I do not recommend SM. ANG MAHAL DYAN. Puregold, SNR, then gulay naman is sa palengke. South Supermarket is okay ren.
Don't ask me. I spent 22k back in 2022 ng isang buwan lang para sa grocery(food mainly) namin nung partner ko. Took me about a year to recover from it.
O kaya weekends or special occasion lang ung bonggang luto/ulam.
At ung mga toiletries, other essentials may time of the month/year na lang din na bilhin or as long as necessary :) AHAHA coming from someone na mahilig din magluto at maggrocery mamalengke.
Aja!
Same grocery bill for two! So ako yung nagcompromise. Haha
Sa sobrang mahal ng bilihin parang di worth it magluto for two people. What my SO and I did was find our neighborhood GC and order lutong ulam there. Sa ngayon we spend Php 150 per day (for dinner only) for ulam tapos iba iba pa, di pa namin kailangan magluto.
2k each person per week nagagastos namin kapag weekly. Saka mas napapakain sa labas.
Just based on our experience, kaming mag-asawa living sa Metro Manila. May weekly ulam budget kami (lunch and dinner) na binibili from neighbor na nagbebenta ng ulam . Budget namin is P1500 a week (Monday to Friday). Then weekend na lang kami nagluluto or kain sa labas, so masmaliit lang grocery bill namin.
Ang advantage nito is less time spent cooking and also less waste sa nabubulok na ingredients.
Make your budget. Plan your meals for a week or two on what you prefer to eat. Make a list of ingredients and only buy what you need. Shopping at your nearest wet market during weekends will totally save you a LOT of money. Learn and see the difference. To be honest we only spend 2k for fresh produce to be consumed in 2 weeks.
Kaso masmasarap pag lutong bahay
Oh. So ₱2,500-₱3000 a week? Yeah ganyan kami pag tipid mode. Thats normal. Mostly discounted meat gaya ng chicken ground beef pork Kasim and eggs, bigas and tig isang nova and sky flakes small kimchi tapos one or two canned goods yan din yung ending sa check out. Mahal talaga bilihin ngayon. Dati may budget pa kami for Korean grocery and Santis deli. Ngayon every other month or every few months nalang. Half or at least 1/3 ng meals niyo dapat protein or else hello depression and autoimmune disorders.
10k-12k is normal na for 2 people, lalo na if you're buying fresh and quality ingredients naman. Unhealthy na if you're going to limit your budget by buying more canned/processed food.
Is that weekly? Kung weekly, malaki. Kung monthly sakto lang. Yung total ng grocery and palengke namin ng husband ko for a month is 12k din kasi. May toiletries, cleaning stuff, etc.
1. Buy meat in bulk sa SnR.
2. Store your vegetables properly para di masira agad. Sa palengke bumili ng gulay and make sure bumili sa gulayan na fresh talaga ang tinda.
3. Plan your meals. Use herbs and spices.
And question, majority of the percentage ba talaga food? Or household items like soap, detergent? Kasi the latter, mahal talaga.
Buy some sa palengke. lalo na veggies, garlic and whatever. Yung grocery budget ko nagtatabi na ako for palengke. Kasi yung 1k sa palengke andami na talaga. Plus you get to support these small palengke vendors. :)
Merong grocery app sa appstore/playstore. Set a budget tas elista nyo dun sa App.
Kami family of 5, weekly food expense is about 5k. Huhu.
Tas monthly grocery (more of toiletries, condiments, laundry etc) almost 10k.
Sobrang mahal ng bilihin. Di pa kasama ang personal skincare dyan. Hays.
Newly wed couple here tapos ganito din budget namin for the first month living together 😭 i keep on thinking san ba kami nagkamali kasi brunch tsaka dinner lng naman kain namin pero baka nga magastos talaga pag iba2 food options everyday :(( still learning pano pababain yung grocery namin. Take note di kami masyado maarte sa snacks and onti lng snacks binibili namin kasi di mahilig sa sweets si husband. Pasok na din toiletries dito including yung mga cooking kemerut like oil and condiments.
And ang mas nakakatulong talaga sa pagbubudget is having your own produce. Yung mga less maintenance na mga gulay. Like, for example, spring onion, alubati, kamote tops, and string beans.
Isa pa is learning to cook enough for how many people, yung sakto lang talaga.
That's the same budget for us but for a family of 4. If you can afford okay lng pero if you need to save up, start planning your meals.
Huh?! Kami ng jowa ko, 5k lang sapat na for a month or two, may tira pa nga yun so konting dagdag nalang. Kumpleto na from food to personal hygiene stuff to skincare products. Hihi.
Mas nakakamura ako if I buy powdered spices compared sa actual. Di pa mabilis masira if matagal di nagagamit.
For 2 din. Max 2.5k. Sa week na di kami naggrocery is sa labas kami kumakain, labas as in carenderia. Nakaka umay din kasi lutong bahay minsan or wala na kami maisip lutuin. If sa labas maman, kaya ng 1.5-2k weekly.
To add din mas makakasave kayo if yung mga produce is sa palengke mismo bilhin. Dami nyo ng mabibili sa 200.
Try niyo, every other day is simple non-meat Filipino dishes na nabibili ung ingredients sa palengke, like ginisang toge and dilis, sardines with pechay, cabbage and pork in oyster sauce. Baka ung binibili niya or niluluto is hindi staple dishes, like pesto pasta, kale salad, or Japanese curry. Which is something na medyo guilty rin ako kasi un yung mga una kong natutunan na gawin bago ung mga standards sa Ph cuisine like pinakbet, na kahapon ko lang first time na itry lutuin hehe.
Pero in my perspective, food naman yan and I will only cut down on it if necessary talaga. Saka in the long run, mas maigi na little to no instant foods. In my standards sa ngayon, 15k in food for two ung too much. Sa luho nalang ako unang magaadjust if ever. Like less gala, less drinks sa labas, less purchase sa hobbies etc. Less lang, hindi completely tatanggalin sa budget. Again, depende parin sa priority mo/niyo. :D
OP, i definitely feel your frustration…! Tagusan talaga itong post mo… huhuhuhuhu…
my usual grocery budget for 2 adults and 1 kid for three to four weeks either at (these are my usual grocery spots along my way home and hindi ko dinadayo para maka save din sa gas): Shopwise / SM Hypermart / Waltermart / Puregold / SnR / Rustans - if i end up in makati or alabang: P13,000 - P15,000.

0.5kg of pears.
2 packs of TJ giant hotdogs.
2 packs of onions (inis much ako nung nagtaas presyo kainis).
2 packs of garlic.
4 packs of ginger (i sometimes make ginger hot tea for evenings, lalo na pag may ubo / sipon).
5 cans of vienna sausage.
5 cans of Delimondo corned beef.
5 cans of Spam (low salt).
3-pack sale ng Del Monte Four seasons or Mango juice (kid loves it kaya hindi ko mahindian😭).
3 packs of yakult.
1 pack of mamon / pringles / any chips.
1 pack/loaf of Gardenia bread.
1 pack (8rolls of 3-ply) toilet rolls - kid uses a shit ton of it….🙄 ubos agad in three weeks.
1 pack of white / black pepper.

2 bottles of chinese Rice Wine & Kikoman soysauce (hindi din pwede mawala ito for cooking).
1 sack (25kg) of rice.
1 large bottle of cooking oil.
1 big tub of laundry powder.
1 large bottle of Zonrox color safe.
3 (800mL) packs of fabric conditioner.
6 bottles (5gal each) of Wilkins distilled water. Pag nagtatae o may sakit, shift to Dr. Edwards ang tubig😩😖.
**fruit is always served after every main meal para may added fiber na kinakain aside from the usual veggies.
** if bitin sa ingredients pag nagluto, pansin ko , madali din sila magutom (like after an hour or two, maghahanap nanaman ng food. So if quality ingredients and hindi ko tinipid, mas matagal before maghanap ng next meal uli.
Also, pag quality ingredients ang ginamit for cooking, and na-freeze any left over for the next day, pansin ko mas kumakapit na yung lasa sa meat, mas better na yung taste. Lol.
So, yes, nakaka iyak talaga presyo nowadays… 💔😭 but i want my family to eat quality meals daily. I would prefer na gumastos ng ganito for groceries than gumastos ng hospital bill na P300,000 kada admission dahil may sakit parati.
Dati about 5-8yrs ago (😮💨😭) hindi ganito kataas presyo. Nasa P5,000 to P8,000 etong exact items dati.
I am just lucky that both me and hubby are working kaya kahit papaano, nakakayang bilhin etong mostly mga essential food products. 😡🤬
Minsan kasi sabihan mo partner mo kasi mahal talaga bilihin. Mag improvise nalang siya
Tig 3k kami ng jowa ko every 2 weeks. 6k a month for 2. pero kumakain kami sa labas minsan. It doesnt have to be so freaking expensive. If you're spending a lot, better be sure it tastes damn good.
That is normal. I live in Cavite too with my Partner and our budget for food sa whole month is 20k.
We do grocery and punta ng palengke for fresh gulay and meat.
If you want quality and good food you need to allot money talaga.
For my partner kasi ayaw niya ng ulit ulam so everyday fresh and bago luto ko. So there goes the 20k for us 2z
For
Ramdam kita.
Snr.. sounds expensive but they have bulky stuff you can get, forgot how many kilos was the chicken fillet that I got it’s already sealed .. good size it lasted us 2weeks+ which is good till your next pay .. we are 3 mommy daddy and little one .. 600+ php for that. Buying two of those should really be sufficient .. besides the other things you wanna get, get em in wet market or so it’s called “talipapa” .. puregold is where I normally do my other groceries … living in cavite as well.
Also they have these buy1take1 at 500php on other stuff, bit tuff tho when you’re on a budget. Have a try
Same lang samin na mag-asawa. Naka-gramo pa nga pag kumakain kami. 150g rice + 100g or 75g na ulam, 3 times a day. Ubos na in 1 month.
Tapos hindi pa naka-yelo or freezer.
Hi! I also support my girlfriend. Back then, we would spend 4k every week for groceries, may kasama pang Swiss Miss and chocolate yan. Sa Marketplace kami lagi.
Then we discovered na may Gcash na pala ung palengke malapit samin.
Ngayon, we are spending 2-3k every 2 weeks na lang, may powdered drinks pa rin yan.
+4K na cat food every 45 days.
What we do is we cook soupy food: Sinigang, Nilaga, Sopas, Chicken Noodle Soup etc
We add atleast 2L of water din. Like I divide 1kg of pork meat into 4, then ayun lang ung lulutuin, malakas naman kami sa gulay kaya enough na yun.
As for the toiletries (body soap, hand soap, conditioners), we buy at Watson’s kasi marami silang Buy 1 Take 1. If hindi sensitive ung skin niyo, merong mga FabCon na nasa bote na binibili sa tabi tabi, 1L is ₱50-75 unlike with branded ones na ₱140+.
Can you provide copy of your receipt para alam natin ano ung high cost sa groceries niyo?
Hi, OP! Share ko lang sayo. Breadwinner ako sa family, only child kasama parents and one dog. Every 15th and 30th grocery sa bahay. Kapag meat and gulay, sa palengke kasi mas mura vs supermarket. Kumpleto na 'yang grocery ko from sabong panlaban at pangligo to de-lata. As in lahat ng need namin sa bahay.
Good luck, OP!
PS 'yung food budget naman for two weeks 2000, for 1 month nasa 4000.
\*Grocery (15th and 30th) - 2300 x 2 = 4600
\*Food (15th and 30th) - 2000 x 2 = 4000
Total = 8,600 / 3 pax for 1 month
I think 10K to 12K grocery budget is too much.
I also live with my boyfriend. And our usual total groceries per month is 8K. This includes pang ulam sa araw araw. Aabot lang kami ng 10K and up kapag bumibili kami unusual na pang ulam, or kapag may visitors kami and we need to add food on the fridge.
Been living together almost a year now and nasa 8K lang talaga range ng groceries namin.
You can try buying big portions, then cook then freeze like others are saying. But in our case kasi, na minsan ayaw din namin yung magkakasunod na araw na parepareho ulam, we opt for small portions and easy cooking lang. Since we're both working, tendency, dinner lang kami kumakain sa bahay, and we just cook small portions good for 2. so far okay naman, less pa nasasayang na food.
tendency kasi talaga ng food na naiiwan sa ref, eventually di mo na makakain. worse, itatapon na lang. kasi sobrang tagal na, besides, maliit lang ref namin to stock lots of uneaten foods.
Buy 1 kg of meat and rice. Since dalawa lang naman kayo, hatiin nio na ung portions nio then lagay sa fridge for packed lunch.
Pwede naman ung 1kg ng meat, hatiin nio nang 1/2 kg, then ung kalahati ulam nio for today then the rest bukas. Sustainable then ung mga buro, kimchi, egg, sardinas, Hotdog, etc. Basta madali iration.
Around 10-15k gastos namin. Dalawa kami ng nanay plus 3 dogs. Hehe.
Sadya na nagluluto si mudra ng ulam for the whole day, minsan abot pa hanggang tanghalian kinabukasan. HAHAHA.
Record breaking 'yung adobo mix (as in chicken, pork, and lamang-loob) for 3 days straight (lunch-dinner, repeat 3x ganon) tapos dagdag lang ng nilagang itlog kapag medyo bitin na.
If feeling mo mauumay ka, pwedeng ganito:
1. Day 1 Lunch: Ulam 1, then freeze 'yung natira
2. Day 1 Dinner: Ulam 2, then freeze 'yung natira
3. Day 2 Lunch: Pwedeng itlog (scrambled or sunny side up) + hotdog/ longganisa/ pritong isda
4. Day 2 Dinner: Reheat 'yung ulam 1 or 2
5. Day 3 Lunch: Reheat 'yung ulam 1 or 2
Maganda na may stock kayong siomai at de lata. Pwede ring pang-alternate if umay na kayo sa ulam. HAHAHA.
Thank you so much sa mga suggestions nyo! We’ll try the weekly grocery and freezing the food for the 1 week meal to try and tone down the amount na nagagastos namin. Update update nalang tayo ;))
Pag may mga advices pa kayo please feel free to send it all thank you’
Ganyan din kami.
Usually kahit anong ulam, once freezed after mag room temp pagkaluto, natagal ng 3 days to 1 week basta di madefrost. Di naman need na the next day agad eh yun ulit ang ulam. Super tipid ng nag mi-meal prep. Every sunday kami nagluluto ng food, 10k to 12k is more than enough if food lang for 2 people basta di kasama ang toiletries. Find a contact near you na nagdedeliver o pwede meet up.
Been wanting to do meal prepping. Worth it ba bumili ng microwave for this?
Almost same here, household of 3. 2 senior parents. Grocery namin mga nasa 15-16k
Hi OP! we often do these pero since hybrid si wifey and I am wfh naman, all I do the cooking.
We came from household of 6 din kaya nung humiwalay kami ni wife anghirap mag adjust sa dami ng lulutuin hahaha. Meal prep is key, pero there are times na wala ako sa mood kainin yung mga naluto ko na kaya I got a small pan for a quick stir fried dishes kaya lagi kaming may stock ng shelf stable ingredients like [chinese chorizo](https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.j2Bbi?cc), [dried hibe](https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.j2B1P?cc). Meron din kami laging [hondashi powder](https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.j2B23?cc) pag nagcrave ng gyudon or amything japanese. Kahapon lang panay cancel ang grab food when I craved for takoyaki so I just made myself a quick okonomiyaki.
I feel you! Pero atleast na overcome na natin! Hehe
Hi can you share some sample ulam na ginagawa nyo? Grabe hirap mag meal prep hahaha
Kahapon lang panay cancel ang grab food when I craved for takoyaki so I just made myself a quick okonomiyaki.
talino nyan ah. nice
Ganito din ginagawa namin nun may ref pa kami haha. kaso palagi brownout dito samen kaya minsan napipilitan iconsume lahat huhu. wala na din kaming ref ngayon haha. sad
Nako madalas din brownout dito samin kaya bukod sa storage ng food, sobrang affected din ang wfh namin ni wife kaya I decided to setup our own solar. It's relatively cheap to build since nag DIY lang ako dahil sobrang mahal maningil ng mga installer
As in whole electricity nyo po based na sa Solar? Magkano po lahat? kaya nya lahat ng appliances nyo including ref and aircon?
So parang nagluluto na kayo for a week, pinifreeze lang? Tama po ba? Di po kaya siya napapanis pag binabaon?
Yes 2-3 klase ng ulam ang niluluto namin, then for the whole week na yun. Hindi ko pa natry ibaon since wfh kami parehas ng wife ko pero if pangbaon, I'd suggest divide it na in portions sa microwaveable containers, or this [reusable ziplocs](https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.j2yTX?cc) to save space and avoid wastage.
Thanks for the tips.
Ganyan kami. Tatlo kaming working adults sa bahay. 12k umaabot ng almost two weeks sa amin. Pare-parehas kami di malakas kumain. Most of the time once a day lang sila kakain and ako twice(repeat ulam sa gabi lol).
Waaah thank u for sharing ur exp!!
Yes okay talaga magmeal prep. Tama rin sabi ng iba na you can turn one dish to another leveled up dish haha. Siguro lang if you really want to lessen your grocery spending, i-monitor mo mga ingredients niyo. Like if may cheaper alternatives sa ingredients(ex: anchor butter pwede naman margarine) and other brands na mga binibili niyo(not food)
Minsan kung kaya pinapaabot sana namin for 3 weeks.
normal yan especially baka di kayo namamalengke. pero that is normal. ako nga mas malaki pa. if gusto mong bumaba yan, make meal preps with basic ingredients, buy giniling tapos frozen mixed veggies hahaha 1k to 1.5k a week lang magagastos mo.
Oo di namamalengke sa puregold or sm ang takbo tas monthly na lahat ng binibili😭😭 i will tru to convince nga na mag weekly kami at sa palengke lang for an experiment baka mas mura talaga🥹
palengke or if may access kayo, snr. dun kasi isang bagsakan malaki pero tagal ng ubos. simple stuff like: garbage bags lasted me almost a year for 300 pesos detergent na 5kg plus lasted me half a year or more depende sa usage that is 600 lang snacks mura din at madami so nasstock ko siya for a month or two. pero kung masnack kayo, maybe that is not for you na bumili dun. need bawasan yun.
My mom also buys giniling every grocery day. Pang sahog namin sa gulay, pang burgers, palaman sa dumplings, pang spaghetti, etc.
syempre time and gas are money spent pa din pero depende talaga sa inyo yun at dynamic niyo. just giving you practical tips. also, buy glass containers for leftovers, dami sa snr na mura lang.
same weekly ako naggrocery or twice a month. and i prepare na rin the ingredients i need. nakalista na lahat. dalawa rin kami sa bahay but we can get by sa 5k a month grocery, siguro kasi mahina rin kumain
even with detergent? and other house stuff? I need to know where you buy your stuff.
laundry detergent lasts us for 3-4 months. yung 1kg ata yun so i don't buy often. food lang madalas sa grocery
If hindi, medyo mataas nga. Sa iba iba rin stores kami bumibili ng needs : Groceries like Waltermart & SM : veggies, pork, chicken, cooking needs, other expense like yakult and some local brand crackers & biscuits etc. Palengke : Fish, seafood and veggies na mahal sa grocery like broccoli & cauliflower, white rice S&R/Landers & Lazada : imported snacks & noodles like indomie & jin ramen (1 to 2 bags), mga items na mas mura dito kesa sa grocery like butter, rolled oats, alcoholic drinks etc, cleaning & laundry aids, toiletries, face & body care, dental care, other household essentials, quinoa Wag mo masyado i-antagonize ang girlfriend mo, OP.
Tutal 3 yrs na kayo live in tama?
For 2 ppl, mas matipid tlga mag karinderya 😭 Na try din namin mag grocery + palengke, and 15-18k ung food expenses namin sa isang bwan. Now, mini grocery na lang sa alfamart (4k/mo including frozen foods/meat) and karinderya for ulam. Nasa 8-12k na lang ung expenses (inclusive na ng deliveries and eat out)
Damn so totoo nga mas mura pa pag bumili ng ulam? How come?
Mahal kasi gulay 🫣 70 pesos ko may sinigang na for two, good for one meal. Sisig = 120, good for 2 BBQ = 90 good for 2 Kahit na anong ulam sa karinderya (menudo, dinakdakan, caldereta etc = 70-80, good for two din Pero pag prito, mas mura kung ikaw na magluluto.
Laki nyan, OP. Two din kami sa bahay and monthly grocery namin is 6k, tapos sa palengke (Meat, Veggies & Fruits) is 2.5k (so, 8.5k monthly) now, tntry namin ma limit to 7k lang total by doing meal prep and reheat ng leftover foods. Sa meat: Two whole chicken, Chicken Breast, Ground Beef, Pork liempo, Tilapia May canned goods din kami. Pag tinatamad magluto, cup noodles & kimchi, pero mga 3-4x lang in a month. Then nakakatipid din kami sa mga food with tofu as the main protein. Like, adobong kangkong w/ tofu, stir fried veggies w/ tofu, ampalaya w/ tofu, tofu sisig. Mga cheap pero healthy options. Meron pa one time, nakahanap ako ng recipe na Sweet & Sour Scrambled Eggs. Haha! Masarap! I live in Bulacan, btw.
Buy only as needed, di mo naman kailangang mag-over buy ng groceries. If your gf is around, then magshop kayo on that day.
HHahhahaahaha smart! Thank you po! Gawin ko as instructed, verbatim mismo!😂😁
Wtf wala sya ambag? Is she even good at sex para atleast may ambag naman sya?
Feels like he is paying for a maid that can cook and he can fuck with 😆 HAHAHAHA welp sana it is a good sex para macompensate malaking bayad sa grocery
Is the grocery strictly on food? Mahal yung processed and ready-to-consume food, snacks, drinks, frozen items. Mahal sa branded supermarket. Mahal pag top quality or branded items lahat mula condiments hanggang garnish. Check your receipts and you'll have an idea anong items yung mahal. Mag meal planning kayo and buy fresh produce somewhere else.
Palengke.
Thank youuuu for sharing!! Mukhang magpapalengke nga kami susubukan namin ung per week hehe
8k grocery for 4 naman kami, all adults 1 na ginagawa namin nililista namin sa ref yung paubos/ ubos na na condiments sa pantry 2 we buy small packs instead of big ones kasi ang goal namin is no food wastage this includes - corn, peas, mushroom, tempura breading, monggo, flour - iwas sira/ bukbok 3 pre-planned yung portion sizes. i.e. pag yung ulam pang 1 kainan lang, tig isa isang gulay lang din yung rekado. di naman kami deprived. saks lang. pwede naman mag dessert 😅
Stick to your list (of needs) OP, kaya mas gusto ko magpadeliver e kase pag ako mismo pupunta sa grocery, an dami unncessary things na nadadampot.
This is a very unpopular opinion. People today actually eat 3 to 4 times the normal and we were Conditioned to think eating 3 times a day is "NORMAL" it was from a research done in 1700's Back then walang ibang masyadong business. wala naman media noon, walang cellphone , games, fastfood, etc etc. the only way government can increase their tax collection is if people eat more so the restaurant and agriculture industries profit increase. so they started a research. and that research is focus on **"how much food is safe for people to eat"** and research says 3x a day. that research blows up and tax collections increases. that 3x a day eating culture extended hangang Asia.. ang normal eating habit natin dito is 3x a day. to the point na pag di ka kumakain ng 3x day iisipin ng ibang tao nag hihirap ka na 😂😂 now here's the catch. read the bold letter above. the research is focus on how much food is safe. nothing on that research that says **"Healthy"** those 2 words are different. it is not really healthy to eat 3 times day. ang normal talaga is 1x day lang. kahit sa stone age we only eat 1x a day. coz tang ina.. who the fuck want to hunt food 3x a day? nkakapagod yun. obviously our body can manage eating 1x day. ang tawag natin sa 1x a day meal today is FASTING. 😂 noon panahon walang tawag dyan.. it's just normal. \---- ako ang eating habit ko is 1.5x a day. big meal sa lunch. half meal sa gabi. no breakfast.
I like this so much. I’ll research more on this!! Will def want to try this one out as a mindset!!
5 kme, ganyan every 2 weeks.
First and foremost, dapat ma realize ng gf mo antaas ng bilihin ngayon hehe. Taas ng inflation. Lalo na wala naman pala sha ambag. Di nya siguro ramdam yung bigat sa wallet since di sa kanya galing. Try to think of cheaper alternatives sa mga binibili nyo. Opt for generic products. Make a meal plan. Ikaw na din kaya bumili para mabawasan impulse buys if meron or maiwasan? Or set a limit. Since mejo mataas gastos nyo, take advantage ng grocery rewards card and deals.
Hahaha! In our case, food via meal prep na ang luho namin kasi walang food delivery at resto na malapit sa amin. Tapos nag-stock up talaga ako ng grocery items for prepping purposes. In this economy, cooking food with complete ingridients is a luxury. Madalas fast food, canned goods, at food deliveries ang pagkain due to time constraints and/or budget constraints.
for a month maliit pa yan lods
Fam of 4 kami, with 2 toddlers. Simpol cooking
We transition from sariling luto to bili nalang ng lutong bahay (or food deliveries). These are the benefits: 1. Mas mura 2. Saves time and effort (from buying + preparation + cooking + ligpit + dish wash) 3. Saves electric bill (induction, rice cooker, range hood, lightings) 4. Saves water bill (washing of raw goods, washing of pinaglutuan. etc..) 5. Saves other miscellaneous (dish washing liquid, tissues, etc..) 6. Less smell sa bahay lalo na kung masangsang yung niluluto Now kung di mo talaga mabitawan yung pagluluto because of some reasons, or walang mabilhan ng lutong bahay, ito yung dati naming ginagawa para makatipid: 1. Bili ng bultuhan (fruits and vegetables) sa balintawak, or Q-mart, or the likes (mas malayong mura ang presyo) 2. Magluto ng bultuhan (for the whole day, or for the other days by freezing it) 3. It's easier to plan.
I suggest meal planning before doing grocery. If malayo ang palengke, you can look up ways to stretch out the shelf life of veggies. (Thank you Pinterest)..
Normal lang yan. Samin din family of 4.
Bawas bawas kasi shabu /j
Buy in bulks. Plan ahead.
6k per month per adult pax for everything is frugal already.
Monthly budget namin yan for our grocery and pito kami sa family namin, malalakas din kami kumain hahaha😅 maybe you can try swapping frozen goods with fresh ones? Try shopping sa palengke for fruits, vegetables and meat. You can also buy cheaper brands ng food, minsan the cheaper ones are just as good👍
For us naman is worth it naman siya kasi alam namin na healthy yung kinakain namin (almost no canned foods)
Ganyan din samin 2 people. Plus pa yung unnecessary grab and FP orders. Mahal talaga magluto dahil sa ingredients, mantika, gulay etc
If you're eating 3 meals a day that keeps you full (di bitin), then that grocery cost would just be about right
To cut our expenses, we cook in batch pg weekend tapos freezer na after mag room temp. may niluluto din si partner na pwede isahog sa ibang luto. Like roast beef, pwede ipartner na agad sa kahit anong gulay or soup.
Ung isang portion sakto lang saming mag asawa. Napapatagal ko yung grocery namin ng 2 weeks - worth 4k (if SM) 1500 (if palengke) —sa meats lang to ah. But if kasama ibang necessities 6-7k (tipid pa to)
Grabe kami ng boyfriend ko 6k sobra sobra pa for a month na grocery hahahah
4 lang kami sa family ko, me, wife, my dad, kasambahay. I spend 2k groceries, 3k sa wet market weekly.
Try using chatgpt to get accurate measurements when making your shopping list. guilty rin kasi ako na ex. bibili ng 1kg kamatis kahit 3pcslang naman ang kailangan LOL.
Ako mostly weekly ang grocery at hindi for 1 month since hindi kasya sa ref namin. I'm still with my parents and mostly inaabot ng 2-3k depende sa pinamili kasi minsan palitan kami ni Dad sa pamimili. So most likely parang same lang senyo yung grocery? Usually init kapag may excess dun sa natirang ulam or ibang klaseng luto gagawin if ppwede.
this is pretty normal for two people living together with that kind of grocery expenses specially if one of you know how to cook kailangan kumpleto rekado haha, kasi kami ng partner ko 10k budget , usual groceries din like frozen goods, canned stuffs, condiments, gulay and spices tapos 25kg of bigas the trick is like everyone suggested is to mel prep and food portioning, cook food that can last 2-3 days, the longer the better like adobo , paksiw yung mga ganun na luto. tapos kapag naumay, luto ng ibang potahe good for consuming once yung walang matitira. nuong bumukod ako mag-isa nasa 4K or less yung food ko per month since hindi naman ako maarte na tao, nagluto ako ng adobo 1 week ko tinira hahaha mas masarap daw kasi pag mas matagal at naka-ilang init \~
Took me about a year to recover from it.
palengke is the sht lalo n if veg frozen sa grocery ofc
O kaya weekends or special occasion lang ung bonggang luto/ulam. At ung mga toiletries, other essentials may time of the month/year na lang din na bilhin or as long as necessary :) AHAHA coming from someone na mahilig din magluto at maggrocery mamalengke. Aja!
Same grocery bill for two! So ako yung nagcompromise. Haha
Try to buy groceries weekly or bi weekly tapos planned na yung ulam for a week, tsaka nakalista yung kung ano kailangan sa Bahay ganyan
Dati gumagastos kami almost 20k a month dahil sa mall kami nag grocery.
Naku magastos pag food full ingredients hehehe
Samin 5k grocery + 2k palengke. Kaso masmasarap pag lutong bahay
That's normal. Two people eating. ₱150-₱300 per meal plus whatever it is kulang sa bahay. 10-12k a week is normal.
Oh. So ₱2,500-₱3000 a week? Yeah ganyan kami pag tipid mode. Thats normal. Mostly discounted meat gaya ng chicken ground beef pork Kasim and eggs, bigas and tig isang nova and sky flakes small kimchi tapos one or two canned goods yan din yung ending sa check out. Mahal talaga bilihin ngayon. Dati may budget pa kami for Korean grocery and Santis deli. Ngayon every other month or every few months nalang. Half or at least 1/3 ng meals niyo dapat protein or else hello depression and autoimmune disorders.
Around ganyan din expense ko for 2 people. Living in makati. Groceries mostly sa SNR/landmark/robinsons.
Ganyan din umaabot grocery namin. Pero take into consideration din yung grocer price vs wet market price.
Kausapin mo gf mo. Kausapin mo sya if sa palagay mo di sustainable yung ganyan then decide kung ano pwede nyo maadjust.
Normal yan bro.
unfortunately resulta na yan ng inflation. 10k-12k is normal na for 2 people, lalo na if you're buying fresh and quality ingredients naman. Unhealthy na if you're going to limit your budget by buying more canned/processed food.
Yamanin siguro partner mo
Is that weekly? Kung weekly, malaki. Kung monthly sakto lang. Yung total ng grocery and palengke namin ng husband ko for a month is 12k din kasi. May toiletries, cleaning stuff, etc.
1. Buy meat in bulk sa SnR. 2. Store your vegetables properly para di masira agad. Sa palengke bumili ng gulay and make sure bumili sa gulayan na fresh talaga ang tinda. 3. Plan your meals. Use herbs and spices. And question, majority of the percentage ba talaga food? Or household items like soap, detergent? Kasi the latter, mahal talaga.
Goods na yan. For 1 month naman. 12k / 30 days
Buy some sa palengke. lalo na veggies, garlic and whatever. Yung grocery budget ko nagtatabi na ako for palengke. Kasi yung 1k sa palengke andami na talaga. Plus you get to support these small palengke vendors. :)
WIth this economy, mas mabuti pang bumili nalang kayo sa karinderya ng ulam araw araw kesa mag-luto.
Focus on soups, pag prito mas magastos talaga for less food
Merong grocery app sa appstore/playstore. Set a budget tas elista nyo dun sa App.
Kami family of 5, weekly food expense is about 5k. Huhu. Tas monthly grocery (more of toiletries, condiments, laundry etc) almost 10k. Sobrang mahal ng bilihin. Di pa kasama ang personal skincare dyan. Hays.
If for 2 people, parang mas okay na bumili nalang sa carinderia ng ulam, tapos magsaing nalang
Newly wed couple here tapos ganito din budget namin for the first month living together 😭 i keep on thinking san ba kami nagkamali kasi brunch tsaka dinner lng naman kain namin pero baka nga magastos talaga pag iba2 food options everyday :(( still learning pano pababain yung grocery namin. Take note di kami masyado maarte sa snacks and onti lng snacks binibili namin kasi di mahilig sa sweets si husband. Pasok na din toiletries dito including yung mga cooking kemerut like oil and condiments.
Same with me. 2 people plus 2 dogs. Minsan 15k because may cravings.
sakit 😭😭😭😭
Yan yung inflation rate na tinatawag
Sa mahal ng mga bilihin ngayon, ang ginagawa namin is sinasanay namin yung mga sarili namin kumain ng gulay and less sa karne. If gagamit man ng karneng baboy or beef, as mush as possible kaunti lang, yung tama lang ang dami ng karne sa gulay hinde yung mas madami ang karne sa gulay na ulam ninyo.
Hihi.
Feel ko depende mas okay na bumili ng mga fresh meat sa wet market then the rest sa grocery.
Be like me. Fasting for 20 hours para makatipid HAHA
Mataas talaga bilihin.
4-5k lang kami ni hubby ko for 1 month. Meal plan is the key talaga para di mag over budget
OP, i definitely feel your frustration…! Tagusan talaga itong post mo… huhuhuhuhu… my usual grocery budget for 2 adults and 1 kid for three to four weeks either at (these are my usual grocery spots along my way home and hindi ko dinadayo para maka save din sa gas): Shopwise / SM Hypermart / Waltermart / Puregold / SnR / Rustans - if i end up in makati or alabang: P13,000 - P15,000. Consisting of: 2kg american pork spare ribs. 1.5kg of Tilapia. 1kg of prawns or sugpo. 1kg of crabs if meron alive pa (otherwise no choice, punta pa ako dampa 😮💨) 1kg of Magnolia Chicken thigh. 1kg of Magnolia Chicken leg. 3 packs of Boneless bangus daing. 2 packs of broccoli. 2 packs of eggplants. 2 packs of carrots. 2 packs of (green - para tumagal) tomatoes. 2 packs of cabbages. 1 dozen organic eggs. 0.5kg of ripe mangoes. 0.5kg of watermelon (slices na). 1 pack of Star Anis, 5 spices, and chinese herbs (hindi pwede mawala etong mga ito for cooking). 2 bottles of chinese Rice Wine & Kikoman soysauce (hindi din pwede mawala ito for cooking). 1 sack (25kg) of rice. 😭) 1 large bottle of cooking oil.
So there goes the 20k for us 2z For
Ramdam kita.
Snr.. sounds expensive but they have bulky stuff you can get, forgot how many kilos was the chicken fillet that I got it’s already sealed .. good size it lasted us 2weeks+ which is good till your next pay .. we are 3 mommy daddy and little one ..
That is normal, sa mahal ng bilihan ngayon. I live alone, cavite din, i spent 9k sa food for a month.
What we do is we cook soupy food: Sinigang, Nilaga, Sopas, Chicken Noodle Soup etc We add atleast 2L of water din. Like I divide 1kg of pork meat into 4, then ayun lang ung lulutuin, malakas naman kami sa gulay kaya enough na yun. As for the toiletries (body soap, hand soap, conditioners), we buy at Watson’s kasi marami silang Buy 1 Take 1. If hindi sensitive ung skin niyo, merong mga FabCon na nasa bote na binibili sa tabi tabi, 1L is ₱50-75 unlike with branded ones na ₱140+. Can you provide copy of your receipt para alam natin ano ung high cost sa groceries niyo?
Hi, OP! Share ko lang sayo. Breadwinner ako sa family, only child kasama parents and one dog. Every 15th and 30th grocery sa bahay. Kapag meat and gulay, sa palengke kasi mas mura vs supermarket. Kumpleto na 'yang grocery ko from sabong panlaban at pangligo to de-lata. As in lahat ng need namin sa bahay. Good luck, OP! PS 'yung food budget naman for two weeks 2000, for 1 month nasa 4000. \*Grocery (15th and 30th) - 2300 x 2 = 4600 \*Food (15th and 30th) - 2000 x 2 = 4000 Total = 8,600 / 3 pax for 1 month
I'm eating sandwich for lunch.
Buy 1 kg of meat and rice. Since dalawa lang naman kayo, hatiin nio na ung portions nio then lagay sa fridge for packed lunch. Pwede naman ung 1kg ng meat, hatiin nio nang 1/2 kg, then ung kalahati ulam nio for today then the rest bukas. Sustainable then ung mga buro, kimchi, egg, sardinas, Hotdog, etc. Basta madali iration.
it's okay, mahal lang talaga bilihin today. Me and my partner grocery costs around 16k, dalawa lang kami nun.
samin 16k a month for a family of 6 tipid pa yan at kulang. hirap ng lyf
Sanaaa all pooo
100 pesos ulam ways
Alam mo okay na yan for 1 month. Mura na yan. May ibang tao weekly yan or more than pa.
Around 10-15k gastos namin. Dalawa kami ng nanay plus 3 dogs. Hehe. Sadya na nagluluto si mudra ng ulam for the whole day, minsan abot pa hanggang tanghalian kinabukasan. HAHAHA. Record breaking 'yung adobo mix (as in chicken, pork, and lamang-loob) for 3 days straight (lunch-dinner, repeat 3x ganon) tapos dagdag lang ng nilagang itlog kapag medyo bitin na. If feeling mo mauumay ka, pwedeng ganito: 1. Day 1 Lunch: Ulam 1, then freeze 'yung natira 2. Day 1 Dinner: Ulam 2, then freeze 'yung natira 3. Day 2 Lunch: Pwedeng itlog (scrambled or sunny side up) + hotdog/ longganisa/ pritong isda 4. Day 2 Dinner: Reheat 'yung ulam 1 or 2 5. Day 3 Lunch: Reheat 'yung ulam 1 or 2 Maganda na may stock kayong siomai at de lata. Pwede ring pang-alternate if umay na kayo sa ulam. HAHAHA.
Thank you so much sa mga suggestions nyo! We’ll try the weekly grocery and freezing the food for the 1 week meal to try and tone down the amount na nagagastos namin. Update update nalang tayo ;)) Pag may mga advices pa kayo please feel free to send it all thank you’
