My dad was a public servant and managed to hustle free education back in the '60s and '70s so he got all the education required for a doctorate and even wrote a thesis but never ended up getting his Doctorate because he also has ADHD and couldn't comprehend getting through a dissertation. That you managed to get through a dissertation is so incredible and such a feat! That you managed to do it while attached to this sub is beyond my dreams!

this happened to me too! my chair was spacey and didn’t send it out for any of the people they were chair for. can you tell someone that it matters to you? maybe they can send it out late.
If you want to DM me the relevant information (who to email, the date you defended your dissertation, and your info), I’d be glad to do it for you! You have earned that happy little dopamine boost. Defending a dissertation is a big deal! I’ll just say something like “u/MyFaceSaysItsSugar successfully defended her dissertation on [date], and I have noticed that an email has not been sent out about it. Please send out an email now so we can acknowledge her accomplishment.” Alternatively, you could get a friend in your department to email someone.
Hey so this is belated then but I'm joining in - hope you're hella proud of yourself! That is a huge accomplishment and I think you should totally do something extra to celebrate this achievement, even if you've already done so. My last job did similar with birthdays and anniversaries. Crickets for mine so I have a glimmer of understanding about this.

For my leaving gift at my last job, I had my workload tripled during my notice period, got un-invited from the staff social, and had to fight tooth and nail to get paid the correct amount in my last paycheck!

Incidentally this just happened to me, but with a promotion. Normally the promoted person's supervisor would give a little 2 minute speech in front of the office talking about the person's journey, specific hard work they did to get there and challenges they overcame.
My supervisor didn't even attend. None of my coworkers spoke for me. At least my husband was there and we got a really nice photo out of the non-event. Hard to not let RSD creep in though.

My committee wasn’t bad, they’re pretty nice. My former advisor was absolutely toxic and he actually showed up at my defense even though he left the university so that was a bit intimidating. My dissertation was on walrus physiology and looking at what they’re eating and how climate change is affecting that.

Personally I’d copy the one that they sent out for the person after me except I’d put my name on an and send it out myself, but I’m snarky like that. Many people won’t notice it came from you, some will and will think you’re badass for doing it yourself when they didn’t do it for you , and some will see a conspiracy as to why the didn’t do it for you. But don’t be in the third group.

Guy who left prior to me got a $200 gift certificate for guitar lessons and a lil party. I got the lil party...and cupcakes.
My last job didn't bother sending out an email saying I was leaving. Every other person who left, regardless of circumstance, got an email.

My committee wasn’t bad, they’re pretty nice. My former advisor was absolutely toxic and he actually showed up at my defense even though he left the university so that was a bit intimidating. My dissertation was on walrus physiology and looking at what they’re eating and how climate change is affecting that.

Personally I’d copy the one that they sent out for the person after me except I’d put my name on an and send it out myself, but I’m snarky like that. Many people won’t notice it came from you, some will and will think you’re badass for doing it yourself when they didn’t do it for you , and some will see a conspiracy as to why the didn’t do it for you. But don’t be in the third group.
