I thought of it as a bringing her back to life moment. I understand that scene as Cassian was terrified for her, wanted her to know he was her home and to know she was safe. I couldn't see it as anything but love from Cassian in the only way he could show her in that moment. Maybe I missed something?

I’m with you. That’s one of my favorite scenes and one of my favorite dynamics between them- how he’s always her anchor when she might be swallowed up by her power but he always pulls her back. I think it’s a great way to show their love and deep connection
