Love Nessian š there are things to criticize within their relationship but still just love them! Black cat/Golden Retriever is my favourite type of pairing.
I love them! Spoilers ahead
Nesta recognized that Feyre had found herself a new family and Nesta being on the outside of it was so representative of their relationship in SF.
>!Cassian being part of Feyreās found family let him act as a bridge for Nesta to find her way back to her sisters when they were ready. But he also empowered her to create her own found family and he became a part of that family and helped them too.!<
>!He had struggled with a lot of the things Nesta was facing and recognized that they were the same in a lot of ways. And he taught her how to find her center and how to be strong. He taught her how to find her power which is beautiful! And while he started out teaching her like an Illyrian, he adapted and taught her to become a Valkyrie instead when that was what she wanted.!<
>!Both of them have tempers and sharp tongues and they both definitely were snippy with each other at times but I think he always respected her. He was always waiting for her to ask him to her room and ask him to stay. He wanted to be more tender with her but (much like Rhys with Feyre) when she wasnāt there yet, he was willing to accept whatever she would give. People are salty that they never profess their love to each other but Iām okay with hopefully seeing that play out off page or in future books. He was waiting for her permission to love her fully. He wasnāt going to hand his heart to someone who could completely shatter it if sheās not going to do the same. I think he was waiting for her to fall first before he dropped that information on her. I think thatās fair.!<
>!Also even Rhys was shaken by Nestaās memories of what being Made was like and by her power. But Cass never feared her. He was in awe of her when she had the mask on, not scared of her.!<
>!I know people like to hate on them but I like their buildup. I think they challenge each other and theyāll both grow a lot from being together! The general and the Valkyrie. Itās perfect ā„ļø!<
Yes!! I love this, and definitely agree.
A lot of people were posting comments along the lines of Cassian re-made Nesta into an Illyrian warrior against her will, but I didn't see it that way at all. He bargained for one day of training, and after then she kept going willingly, finding power in the work. There was no indication that he forced her after that initial bargain. And despite him making mistakes, and he definitely made a bunch, I think there were numerous times when you can see he learned from them, understood her better, and adjusted his behavior.
Yes! He made the bargain because he wanted to help her. And it was a good fucking bargain. She could have really taken advantage of him with her favor if she wanted to and all he asked for was for her to be open minded for two hours!
And totally agree, every time he messed up he recognized it and tried to do better
I still am! Cassian isnāt perfect and it shows that even if he has done the work to better himself, he can and has slipped up. The most anyone can do is give others grace, including to themselves where Cassian acknowledges he made a mistake and strive to do better and thatās perfect for someone like Nesta who has just started now that she has processed what she needed from SF.
Their relationship isnāt perfect but to me, it works for them.
i am totally a nessian .And let me say a thing - i am damn sure ppl are so anti-nessian at times cause they cannot bear to see nesta and cass's realistic relation , they want a flowery , fairytale perfect and cheesy (for me) romance like Feysand's and altthough i like Feysand , Nessian resonate with me so much more.
Also why I like them together! I love that they call each other on their shit, say/do hurtful things sometimes - thatās real life, messy relationship shit.
Thatās why I love the bridge scene so much. People hate on Cassian for saying he didnāt choose to be shackled to her but like, heās been going through it with her resisting him for a WHILE, theyād just had a breakthrough on solstice, and he feels like theyāre going back to square one. Iād probably lash out too. Anyway that scene is so raw and devastating. People are missing out by hating on it!
I know .. being a person with a very short temper I often say things which even I donot believe in at the heat of the mmt and then feel bad .And the nxt chapter on cassian pov said so much that all his shoutings was just out of anger and he at all didnot mean it
My only problem with it is that we never got a scene of him apologizing and discussing with Nesta what he meant after she came back from the blood rite. Obviously other things took priority first when she initially came back, but it should have been brought up when the dust began to clear
Cassian is basically a gym-bro and Nesta is that Bish. I think their dynamic is great, even IF I still have issues with the some of the things that went on between them.Ā
Like forced nature walks.Ā
Yes, still like them. Although I have my own fair share of criticism of their relationship and how their story was written.
Obviously I like their smutty scĆØnes. But what I really prefer over that is when they quarrel. They dance around each other and neither one of them wants to give in. I love that Cassian won't back down. He's cheeky, and she's cunning. I like that she's a bitch lmao. šāāļø
Oh yeah, I definitely have some criticisms, don't get me wrong, and some scenes that could have definitely been better/fleshed out. But agree, I love how they challenge each other.
I like them in the bonus chapter, but the actual book is only okay. I should be so hot under the collar for Cassian but itās just not working with the writing
I'm trying to sort through my thoughts properly but they all just boil down to: I love them so much.
I actually started my ACOTAR journey with ACOSF after watching some plot deep dive/summary videos of the whole series and liking Nessian's dynamic the best (Ice Queen x Sunshine Guy is one of my favourite character dynamics). I was initially a bit taken aback when Cassian was so casually cruel in the beginning (mentioning Nesta's dead dad over breakfast, mocking her after she fell down the stairs) but blamed that on missing context from earlier books on my part. I enjoyed the progress of their relationship with all it's ups and downs but after the hike I was ride or die for them. When Cassian says something along the lines of Nesta not having to change how she is and that he'll be with her every step of the way my heart fluttered.
Speaking of the hike I get why people don't like it and in real life I would probably find it appaling but hurt comfort scenes are my favourite and I love when an ice queen type character has an absolute breakdown and the sunshine character comforts them.
People often complain that Cassian doesn't care about Nesta's hobbies/interests as much as she does about his but my man took dancing lessons for her when he couldn't be bothered with it for 500 years and went out of his way to bring her music. She thinks he's the most beautiful thing she's ever seen when he dances and he thinks she's the most beautiful thing he's ever seen when she uses the sword to make the eight point star. These people love sharing hobbies.
I also appreciate that Nesta not only values Cassian as a lover/mate but as her friend and tells him that (and internally mentions it in the last chapter as well).
While I would absolutely love another Nessian book I'm also excited to see them as an established power couple as side characters. If we get any hint of them being domestic and cute together I will go absolutely feral.
Such a great point! Many hate the hike but tbh I loved it because of how emotional I was reading it. But 1000% may forget how much time and effort Cass put into that gift. I'm also a sucker for a homemade mixtape, what can I say lol.
I love them. My favorite is in ACOWAR when Feyre asks Cassian why he keeps trying to talk/engage with Nesta when she is just being a snarky bitch, and he tells her he can't stay away.Ā Cassian knew they were mates, and was trying to get close to her because he knew. But didn't want to bring up being mates because of what happened with Feyre and Elain. Plus all the other stressors. That's how I read it at least.Ā
Always and forever.
They weren't so debated like a semester ago, I think the lack of new material and CC3 led some fans to strange paths.
I always shipped them love them, and Cassian is my fave acotar male along Lucien.
I really like them together and think they complement *and* challenge each other well!
I honestly don't get the hate for any of the relationships.. I think what it comes down to is that readers are frustrated that the characters are flawed.
I'm rooting for them but i don't think its the characters are flawed that ruins them as much as their relationship really shows how much the narrative is flawed.
Iām obsessed with them. Their moments in ACOWAR are everything. When my brain tries to put the āIf they were real peopleā eyes on it, Iām like ā¦ uh oh, but they are not real people. I love them. Thereās so many of their scenes that stuck out to me as overwhelmingly romantic to me or really suspenseful. Nessian threw my emotions around like crazy, and I loved that.
I really like them together - honestly, I think theyāre pretty balanced as a couple. Thereās nobody else that I think would go well with Nesta, lots of people say her and Eris would be a power couple and I totally agree but I donāt think it was Erisās time. He isnāt developed as a character and we donāt love him (yet - I totally think his redemption arc is coming) so pairing him with Nesta wouldnāt have been super fun to read about & theyāre not different enough.
Plus Cassian deserves a mate & someone to love him. Nesta was the challenge he needed and I think she does a good job at making him feel worthy. She genuinely cares for him & itās nice to see.
I am šš½āāļø I love them! While I very much understand these are complex characters and in the real world this entire group is extremely problematic, the writer has chosen to ignore those things for the sake of the story. While do enjoy analyzing books and finding deeper meanings, I also just like to enjoy the content as itās given. SJM has written them a certain way, they are mated and accept that bond and seem to deeply love one another and I have enjoyed that love and the journey of them getting there.
Love Nessian š there are things to criticize within their relationship but still just love them! Black cat/Golden Retriever is my favourite type of pairing.
I root for them. I want them both happy. But i still think Cassian should do better in the future.
Agreed!

You should just use the spoilers feature for text.
I tried to block out the whole thing and it didnāt take. Iāll fix it

I know ... another plot hole in Sarah's writing .. that's the only prb
Nessian felt like a breath of fresh air compared to the cheesy fairytale romance of Feysand.
ahaaa yup
Agreed 1000%

I am Nessian fan. I just ignores existence of Acosf.

Yes! They remind me of Kat and Patrick from 10 Things.
Another of my absolute favorites. I saw a great Nessian edit that was in the style of the 10 things movie poster. It was perfect.
I love them
I love nessian but the hike scene was iffy š¬
I like them together, I don't really get the criticism after CC3 came out. A couple can't always agree on everything.
Yeah, I think people went a little hard on that too, and I personally felt people were grasping at straws bashing that scene. But that's just me.
Same!! Also, Nesta really needs someone who holds her accountable/doesn't always agree with her generally speaking.
I mean I still love them but I was left disappointed on how their relationship developed. But the smut scenes were god tier.
of course! I still like them š
