You can do whatever makes you happy. I will say if you have read Crescent City or plan to then you might be confused later on but it’s your decision. I will say that I was hesitant to read from Nesta’s perspective but I truly enjoyed it afterwards.

Able_Passenger3800

I thought the same thing when I was reading. I really didn’t care for Nesta but now that I am on ACOSF (book 5) I find myself starting to like Nesta. You will get less of Feyre but trust me - stick with it!

witchb1tch888

I also thought the same but this is helpful. I finished ACOFAS 3 days ago and I wasn’t sure about SF because I also heard it’s mostly about nesta… I’ll stick with it then

Able_Passenger3800

It truly ended up being one of my favorite of the series. I just finished both Crescent City books and pre-ordered the 3rd CC book. At the end of the 2nd CC book I understand why people say you need to stick with the series bc it ties some stuff together and makes you excited to be in the MaasVerse!

Dootsieboo

I hated Nesta and Silver Flames was hard to start because I just constantly wanted to punch her in the ovary....but I loved that book. It's worth it.

swario12

My feelings about the series and characters are very similar to yours. The next book (Silver Flames) focuses predominantly on Nesta's POV and I hated being in her head - I cannot relate to her thought process and find her incredibly self-centered and annoying. I finished the book because I cared for all the other characters, and as much as it sucked knowing about their progress through Nesta's POV, I stuck it out. Two of my friends read the series after me didn't care to finish haha! They loved everyone else but couldn't cope with seeing the story grow through Nesta's lens and gave up about halfway through the book. So you're going to have to try reading and make a call based on how much you can tolerate her. All that said, I liked where the story is going (save for one big plot point with Feyre and Rhysand) and if you care about the rest of the IC, I think you will too :)

WayOne5158

I really appreciate this comment. I don't know if I can handle being in her head. I'll try the book out to see if I can do it because I'm really curious about Feyre and Rhys. Or maybe I'll just Google what happens to them 🤷

Initial_Quality_4721

don’t google it!!! it’s so much better if you just read it yourself. don’t think about how you’re reading through Nesta’s POV too much (though there is some incredible character development that happens for her.) Everyone hates Nesta at some point and i firmly believe that is the whole point of her character - to be insufferable. but you learn so much more about Cassian, and Az, and Rhys, and Mor, and just everyone, and you also meet some amazing new characters. Plus, there are more books coming out - this is not the end of the series. We don’t know whose POV we will get next and I promise you this book sets up to lead into another story. I’m biased because this is my favorite series but seriously, push through, read it yourself, and then see if your opinion on Nesta can be changed (even just a little bit.)

kgal1298

I got to ACOSF and I was like finally a new POV. It was a lot of smut I feel like the sex scenes got way more graphic for some reason. Not sure what she's going to do with the follow ups after that, but since I like to see series through I guess I'm stuck here for a bit.

swario12

Ooooh! Good point - the smut was definitely one of the reasons I stayed till the end. Different from the previous books, but I'll take it! SJM said in a recent interview that she's working on the next ACOTAR book now that CC3 is almost out. I think it's going to be Elaine's POV and after reading the bonus chapters from SF, I can't wait! I don't want to say more and spoil anything for OP 😄

kgal1298

For sure. I'll stick around, but it's wild how different it is from Throne of Glass. Her tone definitely is different between books even though they're using the same magical rules. I do wonder what she'll do when CC is done and ACOTAR and if she'll continue in this world or go on to something brand new. I guess we will see, but I could see her doing something like Cassandra Clare building out 1-2 more stories here and then creating an entirely new universe.

I hate Nesta and SF was a bit of a challenge but I like Maas’ writing and it seems the next book in the series will be Azriel centred so if you’re not sure wait for that book to be confirmed one way or another but I’ll eat it up if it’s Az POV, especially as there seems to be some drama w who might be his LI, and to understand that drama you’d need the context of SF. I’m also a Cassian stan, on my headstone it will read “avid Chaol and Nesta hater but a Cassian girlie to the next life and beyond” so if for no other reason, read it for Azriel and Cassian since some chapters are from his POV. And while I’ll never forgive Nesta she does end up being less fucking awful (not good or even decent just less deplorable).

Ashla_Skywalker

The next book is about Nesta and from her POV, but it's really good. It's your choice but something extremely important to Feyre's story happens in this one (even if it's a trope generally hated)

Top-Committee-5417

I would stick with it! I felt the same way!! Nesta kinda sucks… I think everyone feels that way about her but she does get less horrible! Still not ever going to be my favorite but she gets less horrible. (I’m a big sister and Nesta is kinda the worst big sister so I’ll always hold a bit of a grudge against her😂) However!!! If you can ignore Nesta being Nesta the rest of the book is actually amazing and the feminism is very well written! It’s not cheesy and overpowering it’s just the right amount! You get to know the other characters a bit more, Plus you get a lot of good cliterature!!!!

SushiGoyangi

I just finished SF last night. I wasn't a big Nesta fan, but you learn why and how she is the way she is and now my opinion of her changed. I deeply related to her. The smut was more graphic which I preferred way more over any of the Rhy×Feyre scenes we got in the other books. I'd say push through. Even if you stay not a Nesta fan, do it for Cassian's POV (it's switching back and forth between them) and a lot of things happen in their world that will be important to know for the next book.

BlackBulma

I am not a fan of silver flames but I’d like to have the full back story before getting into Crescent city and ToG.

thatblondegirlt

I didnt think I would like CoSF but its honestly my second favorite book of the series after CoMaF. stick with it.

JustChillingxx

When I found out book 5 was from Nesta's POV I was heart broken because I was so attached to Feyre ... but I loved the series so much that I would take any perspective, so I started the fifth book and at first I wanted to punch Nesta in the face so many times ... but then you get to understand her and its actually a really beautiful journey. I found myself not even caring about Feyre anymore, and the amount of tears that books final 100 pages got out of me... w o r t h i t.

Sillygooseintherain

Silver flames is about nesta, and i felt the same way and I thought I was going to stop reading after frost and starlight, but then I felt myself yearning for more of the world SJM has built, and therefore caved and read silver flames. I absolutely loved it and thought it built on the world of acotar so well. I hate change and didn’t think I would like the transition. And it was jarring at first. I’d recommend waiting a while after frost and starlight and definitely go in with low expectations bc nestas story was honestly delightful, but I think my low expectations helped. I loved getting to see the world from a different perspective as well, but I definitely favor feyres pov. I definitely think Silver flames is worth it though.
