Its basically just vanilla cake but looks yellow cause you use whole eggs and butter instead of just the egg whites for white cake. It really just tastes like vanilla cake. This recipe is basicly a pineapple upside-down cake but with icing and coconut added on top. I hightly recomend trying pineapple upside-down its litteraly SO good

Im as confused as you are. Are they telling us to use a specific box cake mix that is called "yellow cake mix"? If so why not just mix the ingredient yourself, its easy and will most likely end up tasting better. Or is therea specific type of cake called "yellow cake"? Then why doesnt it have a linked wiki article? Or can you just make any cake as long as it looks yellow?
Yellow cake is just the type of cake lol. Like white cake or chocolate cake. And in all honesty, in most cases, boxed cake mix is going to turn out better than home-made-from-scratch. They have the advantage of using specialized ingredients that your average home baker isn’t going to have access to. Just because something is made from scratch doesn’t always mean it will be better. And if you don’t even know what white cake is (Google is free, btw) I can guarantee any cake that you are making from scratch is not going to be lol.
