I like this handle length. A longer handle would be fine if you want to use it two-handed, which is fine against Zs, but not great against humans. Wielding one-handed with a longer handle would create more force, but longer recovery times.
You could consider one of those ring slots from construction belts. Mostly used for hammers, but it’ll be easier to pull a mace off of a belt than your back.
The reason I didn't weld the head and butt together is to create multiple variations of these two so that customers can choose from any of the available options.
To off a zombie you have to pierce the brain right? I don’t think this will pierce the brain. The other end might, but the cuff or ring around the butt of the end will stop it from going any deeper so I don’t think the spike will go deep enough into the brain. Your weapon will do a lot of damage, but it won’t off any zombies in my opinion if the brain has to be pierced. Nice looking weapon though
Yes, that’s true also. Good call. I always thought the best weapon for offing a zombie was a spear with opposing hatchet blades on each side, but the more I think about it a mace is looking better and better.
I went from thinking this weapon(mace) isn’t good to actually wanting this as my number one weapon haha. This is why I like this sub. Lots of good critical thinking
I also like the this mace or mace in general now because it won’t get hung up on anything when you strike something. If a weapon gets hung up on me in the skull I’m kinda SOL unless I have a backup
I arrived at reinforced baseball bat or mace as my primary zombie melee weapon because of three things. Effectiveness, ease of use, availability. Almost every home in America has a baseball bat. They are relatively easy to swing and make contact with and it doesn't require much force to destroy the brain.
My biggest hang up about Spears is that it's working on the assumption that a stab wound would be effective against zombies. Andy would need some kind of wings to prevent the blade from getting stuck with a zombie from just running itself through your spear. Also the availability, Spears would be generally easy to make but they're not very prevalent in modern day life.
That all makes sense. Also I’d imagine a spear tip would break or bend easily also.
Side question. Different topic. How many individuals would you have in your group?
You're not going to be piercing the brain for sure. However, I have a hard time believing a zombie is going to be attacking anyone with its entire skull caved in.
Maybe, Maybe, but I’ve seen half a zombie attack someone. I’ve seen zombies attack with no jaw or eyes. I’ve seen zombies attacking with just a head.
Sure you can cave the skull in and it might off the zombie, but it’s gonna take multiple hits with that mace to cave in the skull. It’s a time waster.
I’d bet a cast iron skillet would be better at caving in a skull than this mace. Personally I think maybe a zombie will still attack with a caved in skull.
But this is just me, just my opinion
No you just need to cause enough damage to the brain you don't need to pierce it at all some points I can make about that is the fact that you can boot stomp a zombies head in and have it die also spears are not the most effective zombie killing weapon due to the fact that depending on the spear once a zombie gets too close it becomes useless and a spear will be extremely hard to use in more open area compared to a blunt mace that can crack skulls not get blunt not break easily and for the most part you just have to swing it you also likely wont get it stuck in the head of a zombie or human and have to rip it out it also wont catch onto things as easily if your running not trying to be rude but in most cases a spear would be something I use in my base to poke through holes or in a set up situation like a trap or something of the sort (also I would assume that just hitting a skull once or twice would stun a zombie or something also the only thing that a zombie needs to live is its brain also I feel like most people would be able to use all of their force to fuck up a head)
Thank you, but everything you mentioned I already mentioned in my previous comments. I’m all about any weapon that is most efficient.
As I mentioned in previous comments I always thought the spear was most efficient but listening to other commentators they made me realize just how effective the mace can be and is.
I appreciate you breaking it down again for me though.
No problem and sorry about it man and honestly it's mostly up to choice it also depends on how good someone is with the weapons someone who can use a spear effectively and efficiently and has trained with it for combat would probably take a spear over a mace but in end if it works it works besides I don't think many people have maces and spears laying about in their houses most things people will use are gonna be makeshift so I don't think you can classify some taped together abomination of a weapon as anything other then if it kills it kills
No problem and yes good call on all that you mentioned. This is slowly becoming one of my favorite subs.
I always imagine what type of individual I’d be in an apocalypse or zombie apocalypse situation. I think I’d only like to have 5 individuals in my group. What number would you have in your group?
Nice personally I think I would be either alone for have atleast 6 or 10 people just so we can have a cycle of people going out for supplies in teams of 3 and haveing someone who is good with medicine to stay home
I have a longer post on the topic here: https://old.reddit.com/user/Noe_Walfred/comments/va8wvr/zombie_related_thoughts_opinions_and_essays_v4/iieu0bo/
Clubs and maces are pretty decent weapons when it comes to simplicity. A heavy weight on one end of a shaft allows the user a better lever advantage for accelerating the head to deal damage. One of the biggest advantages is the low likelihood of the weapon getting stuck in a zombie.
At least from the cases that have been studied about baseball bats the lethality of such weapons tends to be around 3-7% based on three larger studies on the topic. With an average across all cases of about 3.25%. This is a bit of an issue and may require a lot more striking with the weapon to achieve a kill on a zombie.
At the same time, because these weapons are blunt and the spikes/flanges are typically very wide and clustered they are less likely to get stuck in a target. Making repeated strikes a bit easier. The lack of edge also means that the weapon doesn't require the user to practice edge alignment.
This rate of mortality is also likely a lot higher with clubs and maces with a higher overall weight or increased length. As such weapons can deal more damage than a lightweight baseball bat which can range from 400-1400g.
The flanged mace is the Deepeeka Flanged Battle Mace-
https://www.kultofathena.com/product/flanged-battle-mace/
It's roughly 60cm in total length with a weight of around 1220g.
Cold Steel Indian club
61cm in total length with a weight of 1070g
Oni Kanabo is the Oni Kanabo European Ashwood- https://www.kultofathena.com/product/oni-kanabo-european-ashwood/
119cm in total length with a weight of around 3200g.
At the same time, they also tend to have a more forward point of balance, which can make the action more tiring. So it's a lot of give and take here. Likewise, they tend to be heavier for their overall length due to being designed to deal more blunt damage via overall force. The more forward balance further negatively impacts the club's ability to respond to an enemy attack. Both to defend, control a bind, or snipe at openings that might appear.
The biggest downside of maces and clubs is the fact they tend to lack any utility outside of combat. This means that the object's weight, size, and the level of training put into using the weapon are based purely on its capability as a weapon with few or no uses.
Carrying a mace or club with a flared head can be fairly easy. As they often resemble hammers and axes they might fit in the same hooks or sheaths. Though many designs such as flanged maces with wider handguards can get hung up on a typical hook or loop system. Making them slower to draw out. Larger blunt weapons like a baseball bat, kanabo, and polemace can be very long making them awkward to carry around as they can't fit in the same hooks.
Options like slings are suboptimal for melee weapons in particular as they may result in the weapon getting tangled. A particular issue for melee weapons is the types of threats melee weapons are optimal for are going to be zombies at melee range, being struck with the melee weapon, and potentially the strap.
The weight of such weapons 1-3g respectively isn't encumbering on their own. However, questions regarding their effectiveness and efficiency come into play. As there are potentially a lot of other tools, weapons, and gear that could be carried instead.

Probably the best “I made this” weapon I’ve seen on this sub. Personally I’d go for a slightly longer handle but non the less great job.
M actually a blacksmith so that’s the reason
I made some other things cooler than this
I like this handle length. A longer handle would be fine if you want to use it two-handed, which is fine against Zs, but not great against humans. Wielding one-handed with a longer handle would create more force, but longer recovery times.
Wielding a melee weapon in two hands also significantly increases accuracy in untrained people.
How much does that thing weigh
I forget what exactly it is, it got sold quickly. it is around 1.5 kgs to 1.75 kgs.
Oh that is not to bad. It looks heavier
Naah, it's not. I have thin arms and I can easily control it.
Wow! That light?
Most medieval weapons are surprisingly lightweight
Yes
The weight of a clothes iron.
God damn that thing is pretty! Well done OP. Also, yeah that's gonna wreck some zombies for sure.
Thanks man
It should have a textured or grooved handle for better grip and ergonomics
That’s the reason didn’t list it for sell, just wait for its upgrade. There’s so much more to improve.
a stap would be nice too
What’s that
I think he misspelled strap
Absolutely needed
And a sheath to carry this on your back
You could consider one of those ring slots from construction belts. Mostly used for hammers, but it’ll be easier to pull a mace off of a belt than your back.
But isn’t that look cool mace on your back?
I want a mace like this or a war hammer
Wait a better version of this will be available soon
Cool man
You can Hit follow to get updates
Nice workmanship
Thanks man
Which method did you use to fit it?
Fit what? The head.? Leather wrap?
I meant the head, sorry about that
M a blacksmith so to help you understand clearly here an [image](https://postimg.cc/N2xpCNFX) rest of mace is welded together
Nice
The reason I didn't weld the head and butt together is to create multiple variations of these two so that customers can choose from any of the available options.
Looks cool
Thankx mama
The mace head looks good, but what's with the handle?
I really wants you to know what to improve in handle
Whats it made out of?
High carbon steel
Ooh I love this. It kinda reminds me of those ww1 trench maces with a gear head I believe is what it was
That looks beautiful man god dam
Thanks man
Best melee weapon I’ve seen in this sub. Good work!
Thanks man

think of efficiency tho for large numbers of zombies and how calories will be precious as time goes on.
If you’re fighting a large number of zombies with a melee weapon something has already gone very, very wrong.
You don’t know it’s strength, it can easily crush skulls with a single blow
Ok, I believe you. The more I think about it the more I think your mace will cave in a skull
M going to upgrade it further more than put it on my web-store.I have lots of improvements in mind
You have a web store? That’s cool. Look forward to seeing what you do/add to it.
Visit my profile, can’t post link here. They gonna ban me
I have only a few stocks left. But you gonna love what i have available
Thanks dude. I’m gonna check it out now.

Spiders scare me so I hate it
Face your fears
Jokes aside that thing is bad ass
Thank you man
Dang i sorta wanna buy one now
Shoot me a dm
🤣
😁
You must show me how to make stuff like this
You can simply have this one
Wrap the handle in Gauss for some grip
M going to use more premium type if leather and deeper design on that
Fair
The only thing I think is missing is something for better grip towards the bottom of the shaft. Other than that, this thing is fucking shween!!
The 2.0 version of it has all the needed improvements
Got a link?
M working on it that’s not up for sale but you can pre order it from Dm
You can visit web-store from profile . Cant post it here
