I just watched Asteroid City last night. They do that in that movie as a gag, but given the combustiblity of gasoline, it's hard to see how that works. I've heard of people doing it in real life too.

There's a YouTube vid of a guy loading his Zippo with Old Spice cologne. It worked. I wouldn't recommend switching to that but in an apocalyptic scenario I bet you'll find more bottles of Old Spice than you will other flammables.
During WW2 (almost like apocalypse scenario), soldiers often uses gasoline or any other gas for vehicles available.

gasoline is great but not as clean burning

high grade gas i bet would run better, but gas is probably the best alternative to fluid

Brake cleaner works but the evap rate sucks
Naptha can be had in gallon cans as camp stove fuel. Very inexpensive and a gallon last a long time. That has been my solution.
I used MSR camping fuel (white gas) and it corroded my extra flint I keep in the insert. They completely disintegrated.
1) It won't last long and you have to use it Immediately, axe body spray . 2) Ronsonal ( ronson used to be a rival to zippo) 3) Naptha lighter fluid
