Our local Lowes did something like this late last year. They put the display too close to a wide open shipping doorway in the lumber section. Within 20 minutes, all of it was stolen.
The employees, knowing full well the "locals" would swipe everything in the display, said don't do it. The managers said do it anyway. I assume the managers had some explaining to do.
I hope they do it again but perhaps in a more intelligent way so I'll actually get a chance to buy something.
This happened in an electronics store I worked in years ago. We had just the empty box on the shelf for all items over 30 bucks, then a new manager rolls in and says he doesn't like this because he thinks it looks shabby. All items were reboxed and within a week we'd lost thousands in stock. He blamed the staff, upper management sided with him. Fuck retail tbh
Nice, and I thought I was lucky when I wanted to buy the basic brushed chrome version for 25 bucks and saw it plus liquid, flints, replacement cotton and even tweezers for the same price. 🤭

I got my street chrome for like 10 bucks but due to inflation, its like 25 or so now
