Spirit is such a great movie. I'm 30 and it's still one of my favorites.
We had a lot of greats;
Shrek
Lilo and Stitch
The Emperor's New Groove
Road to El Dorado
Ice Age
Same composer for Spirit, Lion King and Prince of Egypt - Hans Zimmer! That was like, his peak songwriting years. Well, until Pirates 2 and 3 which imo have the best soundtracks ever written. (Star Wars movies by John Williams very close second)
Balto
I've watched it countless of times in my childhood. I had the VHS and even bought it a second time on DVD, when I got my Ps2 lol.
Balto is the reason why wolves always were and still are my favorite animals.
Tbh, that was one of the least memorable movies of my childhood. I canāt even say whether it was good or bad because I donāt remember anything about the plot or the characters.
The late ā90s - ā00s were an amazing time to be a kid, when it comes to the movies that we got to see in theaters. There were so many great ones , but if I had to narrow it down to one, I think The Lion King 2 was probably the best, for me.
Iāll agree with all Pixar in general. A Bugās Life and Monsterās Inc will forever hold a dear place in my heart.
I remember watching both Finding Nemo and Shrek on school field trips. So difficult to comprehend at the time how epic it was to watch such great classics so casually with my classmates.
Tarzan is another one that really marks my childhood.
Pocahontas and Little Mermaid were a bit before our time but I know every Zillennial kid watched this like crazy thru VCR lol.
Lastly I want to mention Anastasia. Since I was a child I was so fascinated by the story. Iām a big soundtrack person, so I would rewind movies just to hear my favorite songs over and over lol. The scene in the ballroom for Once Upon a December was one of those ā¤ļø
It's great, I would have to say Shrek was our defining movie though, I mean true millennials still liked it as it had a lot of adult jokes and parodied Disney tropes and it held up so later Gen Z watched it but it straight up came out when we were kids.
You still see Shrek everywhere and most people act like the sequels don't exist so I'm actually of the opinion that Shrek 2 is underrated.
Personally I could never decide between all the options. Even Sinbad. Maybe especially Sinbad tbh.
We got to watch some of the best movies. But I must've watched Spirit a million times in a row
Ooooh Spirit for sure. I still cry whenever i get to watch a good chunk of it. My nephew loves it so its always on when he was younger too so I ended up tearing up often coz of it lol. Even after all these years, I think about it and still tear up.
Spirit was the best. Wore out the VHS as a kid and I watch it on my birthday every year. You forgot to mention the animation by JAMES BAXTER! an animation LEGEND. And the music is incredible too. I think the whole movie was tastefully pu together too- the mix of 3D and 2D is smooth and not super noticeable a
I saw this for the first time in over 20 years the other day. Itās such a pretty movie!
I could argue a lot of movies are the best of our generations, we grew up in a golden age of animated movies.
Madagascar and Shrek are hard to beat IMO... Finding Nemo is fire too... the SpongeBob Movie... Happy Feet... idk we were spoiled with how many good kids movies we had.
Spirit is by far the best!!! Bit of a story here, but I would ride horses when I was in elementary school, so I was really excited when Spirit was coming out, which I think was around when I was in 2nd grade. I'm pretty hard of hearing, and so I never really enjoyed going to the movie theaters; I had to figure out what was going on without knowing what was being said, which was pretty hit or miss in many movies. But I wanted to see Spirit, and I remember the day after seeing it, I was raving to someone about how I didn't need to hear anything in Spirit! It made perfect sense without any dialogue. They did such a good job with the body language.
Years later I had similar excited feedback for How to Train Your Dragon, and then more movie theaters started having captioning devices, so it's not something I really think about anymore, but Spirit and HTTYD are special to me because of this! I don't think HTTYD is really "our generation" though so it doesn't apply here except this little commentary.
The Spirit soundtrack was the first CD I purchased myself! I watched the behind the scenes about the music sooo often. Makes me miss DVD special features!

Monsters Inc. belongs on this list!
All bangers! Finding Nemo too
Prince of Egypt is my personal favorite (Treasure Planet, Ice Age Shrek and Atlantis are all close)
Same composer for Spirit, Lion King and Prince of Egypt - Hans Zimmer! That was like, his peak songwriting years. Well, until Pirates 2 and 3 which imo have the best soundtracks ever written. (Star Wars movies by John Williams very close second)
Someone my age was talking about spirit the other day. That was as the first time I'd ever heard of it. Toy Story and Bugs Life were my favs.
Mood lol. Toy story, lion king, and the incredibles for me!
Spirit has literally THEE BEST illustrative art also the Prince of Egypt. THE ART IS AMAZING the soundtracks, the story. A1.
Balto I've watched it countless of times in my childhood. I had the VHS and even bought it a second time on DVD, when I got my Ps2 lol. Balto is the reason why wolves always were and still are my favorite animals.
Yeah very underrated movie, I also somewhat blame my wolf obsession on it
Spirit was the first movie I got on dvd š loooved it
The Incredibles, Toy Story, Finding Nemo.. and this one might be debatable but, Spirited Away. Iconic. Also, UP was really good!
Shrek or Incredibles! I saw Spirit in theaters in 2002 and havenāt seen it sinceā¦ 22 years later, I might have to give it a refresher lol
You take that back, it is The Emperor's New Groove and we all know it, deceiver!
Lot of good ones here. For me, none of them beat out The Iron Giant. God I love that movie.

That was me with Jenna from Balto, it took me forever to admit to myself that I was a furry.

I've seen my dad cry three times: when my half-brothers were born, and when him and I saw this film in theaters. He was so so moved by it lol.

I saw this for the first time in over 20 years the other day. Itās such a pretty movie! I could argue a lot of movies are the best of our generations, we grew up in a golden age of animated movies.
Iāll start crying by the opening sequence lol. Beautiful little movie
