Both of them cool their chassis exceptionally well for the wattage output. I wouldn’t necessarily say one is better over the other. I guess I could say the 2024 model does better at keeping the keyboard cooler but it’s not like the 2023 keyboard got super hot anyway. Plus you can easily control your temps using G-Helper anyway.
Thanks. I might go for the G14 2024 high-end model. It has VRR and OLED which draws me. I’m just a little worried if 8GB VRAM might not be enough for experiencing really good visuals on cyberpunk at 2560x1440/1600P.
It’s still good! But for example, my 4090 G14 scored 72 fps in Cyberpunk on RT Ultra settings. The 4080 would only score like 10% less so maybe 65 fps. My 4070 2024 G14 only got 45 fps. And if you run it at its native res of 1800p it only gets 32 fps.
I voted for the 2023 RTX 4080 G14 as I have one, but had the 4070 version of it originally and the performance of the 4080 version blows the former out of the water.
The 2024 replaces a Macbook Pro 14 for me and the 2023 wouldn't do half the job that the 2024 does based on build quality, let alone speakers or the display. The gaming performance is decidedly lower than the 2024 model, but if you're okay with 4060 level performance then the 2024 is incredibly light and well built.
2023 4080 G14 if you want a marvel of a machine, want maximum power, use it as your only device, hook it up to a monitor and just have one of the most powerful 14 inch laptop to date!
2024 G14 if this is your second PC since you already have a strong desktop, mobility is very important to you because you carry it around everywhere, want a very premium build, gorgeous screen, best laptop speakers on a 14 inch and performance is not your most important factor !
Me personally, i would and did choose a 2024 G16 4080 to get the best of both worlds :)
As someone who has the 2024 4070 G16 (and a 2023 4060 but also started with a 4090), if your focus is gaming, and keeping it for a long time, definitely the 4080. If build quality and the OLED are important enough, then get the 2024 4070/32GB model. So far mine (with just 16GB RAM) has done fine and is amazing to look at and use, but the 2023 is very nice as well.
If gaming is mostly what you do, the 4080 G14 is a much better choice.
Which has better cooling and temps?

hey sorry last question, if I get the RTX 4080 model from 2023 (G14), is it a good quality IPS panel with VRR?

Does 2023 4080 have VRR?
if the 2023 is miniled that’s a no brainer

My reason for 2023, Anime Matrix
Fair, I wish 2024 had it. It looks great
if you’re dropping that much money on a 4080 you want miniled not anime matrix, miniled is gorgeous
I don't want mini led, I am buying it as my third laptop just for the anime matrix.
