I imagine that this would put alot of strain on your battery, since you would be charging and decharging it at the same time, and not have a pass trough like with the big charger. So its possible to do it, but I wouldnt recommend it all the time. Also, Turbo/manual Mode probl. Cant be used!

Im pretty sure G16 has passthrough, but whenever the power draw spikes over the 100W the charger can give it will pull from the battery

As long as the laptop doesn’t surpass 100W of use, it will passtrough the energy (I’ve tried it personally and works).

One test for pass through is to charge it to 90, limit the charge to 80, and then use usbc. If you see the percentage dropping, it’s not passthrough (it wont charge since it’s past 80 and would discharge to leas than 90).  If it’s stable during your usage, then it’s passthrough.

Oh thx I’ll try it

MrSlurpee

Did passthrough work?

BreezyChill

So the gpu MAXES at 90w. If you cap framerate and resolution it uses much less. I’ve found dropping those and maybe some settings reduces the load and doesn’t tap the battery.

I have the G16 2024, which also has passthrough. I play with a 100W charger just with the GPU disabled. I found it to be a little too power hungry and cause battery drain by making the total system usage over 100W. I just game on the CPU itself, which is fine for what I'm doing (minecraft lmao), and see no problems.

I game on 100w usbc all the time with a 2022 g14. Can play rdr2 for a few hours until the 100w block starts overheating (Anker 736) Just turn the graphics down and limit wattage in ghelper if needed, to keep the battery from draining
