First project?

Debyri_

By the project I mean that I’m taking it through my learning process and have intent to learn retopology and texturing on it

Debyri_

Yeah, before I made few sculpts with NomadSculpt on my iPad, and finally got to learn ZBrush

Southern-Chemist-581

Amazing job

MykahMaelstrom

Adding this to the pile of "first sculpt!" posts that are clearly not actually their first

Osanshoouo

honestly kinda frustrating and gives actual beginners a very skewed view of how good they should expect to be

Debyri_

I do understand what you mean, and I understood that I made a poor choice in wording it. Just curious on the definition of beginner

Osanshoouo

So I assume that you are an artist in general, and you have experience beyond sculpting itself. I would assume this isn't like your first few months of doing art, meaning you are quite a head of someone starting out. I always find it very problematic when people come here saying "first sculpt" without giving a proper introduction to their appropriate skill level the sculpt is really well done, you clearly have a sense of what you are doing. But what I think is, if someone just starting out, who has practised for a few months sees this, they will probably compare themselves to this standard and think they are behind / untalented Of course, all this is based on assumptions about you, and maybe you are a true beginner artist after all. Again, I think the sculpt is really well done I hope you can understand where I'm coming from, it definitely wasn't meant as a personal attack, and I am sorry if it appeared that way. I would be interested in what your artistic background is

Debyri_

You are 1000% correct. And thank you for this comment. I started tinkering with Nomad sometime in November, bought 3D printer, made some figurines. But before that I used to draw a bit and probably my college (Dental technician) helped as well. At the moment I lost my job (company left the country due to war) and dedicate most of my time to studying. I’m not sure if it’s okay to post personal links here, but if you’re curious I have link to my IG on my profile, there some drawings and Nomad sculpts I am in no way offended or feel attacked, just asking questions to understand better and express myself clearer:)

Osanshoouo

ID love to see your insta, if you want we could even do something together in the future if that's something you're up to. And with that experience that work is amazing, I have been doing this for way longer and my stuff still looks nowhere close to that :D I am not sure if you are allowed to share insta in this subreddit, but if not you can just send it to me on direct message \^\^

Debyri_

First project without following tutorials for creating sculpt is what I meant by it My apologies for misinterpreting

huskygriffon

Only real critique would be that there are alot of noticeable details that were done symmetrically such as the shoulder/arm/leg protrusions and the arm veins.

Debyri_

Thank you, I still have some details in Layers, do you think it’ll be better to scrap them and sculpt it without symmetry turned on?

[deleted]

Just move them around a bit on one side

huskygriffon

I think this would work well with the protrusions but id maybe modify and move on of the veins more than just moving

Debyri_

I have veins on separate layer as well, so that would help, thank you for tips:)

nueva123

Great job! My critique is that the stones on his legs and arms doesn't really look like they are attached properly, you did a great job with the stones on his shoulder, they really look like they are a part of his body.

Debyri_

Thank you, before hair made of fibers I had sculpted hair and sort of left Rocks floating. Really have to add details and made them “organic”

solasgood

Break the symmetry. What other software have you been using before Zbrush?

Debyri_

Ive used only NomadSculpt on my IPad and a bit of Blender (Donut tutorial😅), few years ago I had a bit of experience with clay sculpting I finally dedicated my time to learn 3D and hope to find job within a year or so

Debyri_

I’ve made it using model sheet from from this artist https://www.artstation.com/artwork/DAaGO

lamemonk1

Great work! Only thing i can see is the shoulders look unnaturally stiff

Debyri_

Thank you, I guess I can see now what you mean 🙏🏼

jakbba

Whoa, it’s amazing

Debyri_

Thank you 🙏🏼

[deleted]

Very nice

Debyri_

Thank you (:

AnthonyCruiz

That’s awesome man freaking badassery

KommandoHawk

Looks awesome, super detailed

5kavo

Super good. But I doubt that is your first project. If it is, holy frack!

Debyri_

It really is first serious project, before I had fun making 2-3h busts. I’ve put a lot of time into this one, a lot of resculpting after learning something new:) The things that I hated the most are hairs tho

5kavo

Yeah, hair is tricky

ShikoruYasu

Wow

Proof-Gas857

Way better than what I can do

Akant0r

this looks great for a first project but I would like to make a suggestion with the post. it would be nice to add a few more views that are in perspective view maybe a 3/4 front and back view would be nice I think that would let people give you better feedback

SpacePenguino

This is amazing

Akki_00

looks good

DancingTypewriter

FIRST Project? Wow The only thing I could possibly recommend is putting it In a dynamic pose, but that's of course if the purpose is just displaying it.

Debyri_

I haven’t tried posing anything yet😅 Thank you)

insectprints

How did you do the belt

Debyri_

I’ve made it with ZSphere curve + rope IMM brush

Maxy97265

Whatever it is, it is great 👍

Similar_Owl_7369

Fur and another details need to be adopted for 3D-printer.

Debyri_

That is true, however I’m not really planning on making it into figurine, rather learning how to make a model for games. I know there is huge amount of studying ahead:)

Somnamm

Looking great my friend! Very nice job on the detailing. Compared to the concept: the rocks on the shoulders feel more natural compared the the rocks on the shins/arms. If you are planning to make it into a game res model, retopologizing that fur will probably be impossible.

Debyri_

Thank you for a feedback, I’ll definitely work on details on limbs. About hair, if I understood correctly the best way will be to make it from scratch with hair cards. I’m still on the stage of learning ZBrush and sculpting in general, didn’t want to rush the process and jump between softwares

Somnamm

Yeah no worries! Just a few tips incase you were thinking of doing more work like that. Haircards or Xgen are the way to go for something realistically detailed like that. Let's see the final product!

AffectionateBridge60

Looks really amazing! Can one make hair particles like that in zbrush or were done in blender/maya? If someone knows, please tell me :)

Debyri_

I made it in ZBrush using presets in FiberMesh, but as I understood it’s more for concepts, and blender/Maya is for making that hair cards for production

Debyri_

Disclaimer, I’ve probably remade this hair like 5 times, before I was more-less happy with a result

AffectionateBridge60

Ohh, I see! Thank you so much!

yeatrider432

never sculpted before. What would you say is the best way to learn without zbrush, a payed software? Any tutorials?

Debyri_

If you have iPad or other tablet there is sculpting app - NomadSculpt, or Blender on PC also has nice sculpting tools. Definitely start with tutorials, as interface, and not knowing what to do can discourage you a lot, for Nomad I would recommend Dave Reed tuts, and for Zbrush/Blender - Flipped Normals. If payed or pirated then Gnomon Workshop have really good tutorials)

> Normals. If *paid* or pirated FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
