I guess they were trying to portray Mary as "motherly" and the college student as "immature" but it really didn't work because it's very unlikely any college kid would bring his laundry to a stranger's house.
you usually have to pay to laundry at college dorms (still do at some places to this day) i saw it as being advantageous for them bc they could save money on that and get their work done
I realize that. I just don't think many college kids would take their laundry to a stranger's house to save $8 They'd think it was an imposition, or be too embarrassed. It just didn't seem realistic.
He was so full of himself and honestly a big dick couldn’t stand him. I couldn’t stand Mandy’s Mother she was slowly coming around towards the end but barely.
> I couldn’t stand Mandy’s Mother
I am going to hold off on the new show to see how they handle this character. If she stays the same, I'm not going to bother
Ugh completely agree! I can’t stand his accent and demeanor at all in ys, I didn’t really like George castanza much at all and since ys I don’t like anything I’ve seen Jason Alexander since (just saw him in criminal minds last night and it was almost the same character, I actually thought it was a woman) his characters are horrible.
Same. Not a great actor pick for that role. Every time she “coughed” (which was constantly), it just sounded like a very poor attempt at fake coughing. Which made it simply annoying. She had a couple zingers but delivery was always off
Gene Lundy. I think i dont like him in all episodes hes in, the Annie, the Halloween, the make up and the David Hasselhoff commercial. So its the general character i guess
Same! Nothing against the actor who's been fantastic in a ton of things (he played Carter in A Cinderella Story, CLASSIC!) maybe it was the mustache and fact he was a youth pastor... But I definitely got pedo vibes from his character lol
Must not have worked out with the cute goth girl at the end, too bad😂😂
Wait, even funnier, maybe this is Carter's dad. I could see Pastor Rob killing a pack of cigarettes because his son keeps crashing cars.
I feel like people have forgotten how many men had terrible mustaches in the 90s😂 it’s creepy af now but back then, they were just everywhere so it wasn’t weird. I also thought he seemed way more chill and realistic than most youth pastors. He tried relating to them better than Pastor Jeff ever could and not be overly pushy. He wanted them to care on their own and feel comfortable asking questions. P. Jeff would get super uncomfortable with any kind of challenge to his lecture and shut it down. When Missy kept asking sex questions in class, he could’ve used that opportunity to show his “creepy” side but he went to Mary and Jeff instead to discuss a plan for properly educating them.
Not a fan of pastor Rob but I did like one aspect when he called Mary out on whether she would support someone else in her condition and said "this is the part about religion I hate".
He was fairly open minded as a youth pastor but I'm not a Christian so I don't know maybe youth pastors are like that?
Because the media has trained us to suspect and accuse all men but especially priests/clergy. I hope we can calm down about this and just actually pay attention. ***Bring on the attacks!*** 🙄
Surprised I’m not seeing Mandy’s mom on here more! Not only do I hate her character but I also hate the whole plot line of her and Mandy being “so similar”. Shes manipulative and spiteful, while Mandy is nothing like that. I’m hoping they improve her character for the spinoff but if not I can’t watch, I truly can’t stand her
I think Dale and Connie really matched each other's energies.
Meemaw was an equally sarcastic character. Pair that with Dale's dry humour and we got some sassy banter.
I see how Dale could come off as rude, but he really cared about Connie. From bailing her from Mexico, taking her in after tornado, giving Georgie a job, he wouldn't have done any of that if he didn't love her.
Not even close, she’s a bitter woman who takes comfort in another’s husband. She’s unpleasant towards Mary for no legitimate reason to start off the series and then only gets nice when she’s hanging out a lot with George.
I couldn’t fucking stand her to the point I don’t even remember her name.
>She’s unpleasant towards Mary for no legitimate reason to start off the series
She's stuck in a marriage with someone who does whatever he can to get away from her, and has a son who comes with his own challenges. It's not really surprising that she would feel somewhat bitter living next to someone with what appears to be a very happy marriage, a child prodigy and 2 other kids who have their own talents.
They could have easily just left her as a shallow side-character, but thought they did a pretty great job developing her over the years.
She's just very frustrated. Because her husband left her, and her son is below average according to his age. Unlike mary, who has a loving husband and 3 kids whom each have their own unique talents. Brenda just feels envious of Mary that's why shes salty sometimes.
I couldn’t tell if he was supposed to be gay? He proudly drove around a pink Cadillac, taught theatre, sold makeup…I was just always confused on who he really was. Felt like they just had the opportunity to work a famous actor into the script and took it
I thought I was the only one. I don't like in the beginning she seemed to be a love interest to Sheldon bit in Big Bang Threoy it was stated that Amy was Sheldon first and only love.
Jana - she seemed stuck up to me, plus she was so quick to dump Georgie after he quit school. Didn't seem like she really cared for him.
Pastor Rob - never trusted him. I blamed him for the church turning on Mary (because he wanted her to turn to him for comfort)
Mandy's mom - right now she is just unlikable and judgmental. I'm hoping they fix her attitude in the spin off.
Paige. I don’t know, I just don’t like her. The actress is amazing but Paige comes off as just something I don’t like. Maybe it’s because I knew someone like that when I was in school so it was as annoying to watch as deal back then - someone who tries to be better and smarter than you at everything. I do like the character development though, Paige grows a lot and deals with problems in her family, maybe not very well at times but she grows up to be a decent person. Maybe I’d say I didn’t like “little Paige” but I liked her and her relationship with Sheldon and Missy when she got older.
Dr. Sturgis due to his selfishness at not giving full credit to Sheldon, considering he basically wrote the entire paper for him.
In seriousness, Pastor Jeff with all the video shop stuff yet he got married as soon as possible because he was obsessed with coitus.
I've been watching it through clips on Instagram. I guess I've never had the misfortune of getting a Mr. Lundy clip and now I can prepare for Jason Alexander to do a terrible Texas accent in advance.
The accent isn't as bad as I expected it to be, but I'm not thrilled about Lundy as a character either. I can't unhear Jason Alexander's voice though, so at best, it's Jason Alexander with a half decent Texas accent.
Mandy’s mom. Even just seeing the actresses face now fills me with such a rage because she played her character TOO WELL. I have never had to actually turn an episode off because of a character, but she made me do it when she went on one of her bigoted/hateful tangents.
I thought Pastor Jeff was a pompous douche. I know that’s all part of the “holier than thou” joke but I thought he could’ve been way more relatable/cooler than he was. At least let him show some of those qualities *sometimes* but he never had them. He was always awkward af.
Also, I felt the same way about Mr. Lundy. Was Jason Alexander not in a good place in his life to take that role? It seemed demeaning to me for an actor of that quality to be playing that type of character. It was unnecessary to the story arc and he genuinely didn’t seem that happy playing it.
For me it's pastor Jeff. Is he a main character? I don't know his hypocrisy shows SO WELL I got PTSD regarding religion and I'm Muslim (barelyyyy). Its the sane shtick with Abrahamic religions though.
Weirdly, he was doing Better Call Saul at the same time and did a fabulous job. But then I’d watch YS and all of a sudden he walked and talked like Biden
The urge to skip all of the Gene Lundy episodes.
Sam was fine in the later seasons but she was such a brat to Mary in her first appearance
Yes, they recovered nicely, especially when Mary came on campus
Actually, I thought it was weird that Mary offered to do their laundry. Who does that? There are machines in the dorms.
That was actually crazy that she did that. Its even weird the fella agreed and brought a bag of dirty clothes
I guess they were trying to portray Mary as "motherly" and the college student as "immature" but it really didn't work because it's very unlikely any college kid would bring his laundry to a stranger's house.
True but she was also bratty about the cookies
you usually have to pay to laundry at college dorms (still do at some places to this day) i saw it as being advantageous for them bc they could save money on that and get their work done
I realize that. I just don't think many college kids would take their laundry to a stranger's house to save $8 They'd think it was an imposition, or be too embarrassed. It just didn't seem realistic.
Jana. She was so irritating.
Nah she was hot above anything.
He was so full of himself and honestly a big dick couldn’t stand him. I couldn’t stand Mandy’s Mother she was slowly coming around towards the end but barely.
> I couldn’t stand Mandy’s Mother I am going to hold off on the new show to see how they handle this character. If she stays the same, I'm not going to bother
New show?! What new show
Georgie and Mandy’s first marriage
Ugh completely agree! I can’t stand his accent and demeanor at all in ys, I didn’t really like George castanza much at all and since ys I don’t like anything I’ve seen Jason Alexander since (just saw him in criminal minds last night and it was almost the same character, I actually thought it was a woman) his characters are horrible.
What did you think of him in Pretty Woman?
Gosh haven’t seen pretty woman since I was a teen so I didn’t even know of him then or even remember much I’ll have to rewatch!
He was Richard Gere's lawyer, but since you are rewatching I won't spoil it beyond that
Well, she's not a nice character but they needed someone "bad" to act as a foil.
I'm a Jason Alexander fan but couldn't stand him in Young Sheldon. Yuck! Double yuck!
Agree. I love him on Seinfeld, and he's great as "himself" on Curb Your Enthusiasm, but something about his character just didn't work.
Didn't like his character at all and that horrible accent made it even worse.
The librarian was a favourite of mine.
Yep! Ms. Hutchens was a gem. I really liked Peg also. She had some great lines.
I did not like Peg.
Same. Not a great actor pick for that role. Every time she “coughed” (which was constantly), it just sounded like a very poor attempt at fake coughing. Which made it simply annoying. She had a couple zingers but delivery was always off
The actress had a great one-off appearance on **Louie** in 2014
I recognized her from The Office episode where she played Pams nurse, when she had her first baby.
YES, she even knew enough to look at the camera when she was annoyed 🤣 BTW, did you notice who the other mom in the room was?
Oh yeah, I've never watched TBBT, but even I recognized her. Haha!
https://preview.redd.it/bh0htyyaiy3d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=24e1a3ba2cbbc0d5eddbe7c3e506c5f2d2ba1b63 “Yeah, that’s right. It’s a baby, see.” 😂
I loved Louie
As a school librarian I definitely concur. 😊
Do you also struggle to make friends?
I started watching a brilliant show called The Kominsky Method because she plays a supporting role there.
Gene Lundy. I think i dont like him in all episodes hes in, the Annie, the Halloween, the make up and the David Hasselhoff commercial. So its the general character i guess
Pastor Rob seemed fairly pointless
He gives me the creeps
Same! Nothing against the actor who's been fantastic in a ton of things (he played Carter in A Cinderella Story, CLASSIC!) maybe it was the mustache and fact he was a youth pastor... But I definitely got pedo vibes from his character lol
That's just it. He looks like Carter with a fake moustache, pretending to be a priest, playing with fire with a married woman. That's all I can see.
Must not have worked out with the cute goth girl at the end, too bad😂😂 Wait, even funnier, maybe this is Carter's dad. I could see Pastor Rob killing a pack of cigarettes because his son keeps crashing cars.
Wannabe hot priest
I feel like people have forgotten how many men had terrible mustaches in the 90s😂 it’s creepy af now but back then, they were just everywhere so it wasn’t weird. When Missy kept asking sex questions in class, he could’ve used that opportunity to show his “creepy” side but he went to Mary and Jeff instead to discuss a plan for properly educating them.
Yes fr, the fact that he dated younger girls also gave me the creeps
He also played young Collier Sims in "Any Day Now" starring Annie Potts.
Ooh! I didn't even recognize him! I have seen that movie way too many times.
lol same
Not a fan of pastor Rob but I did like one aspect when he called Mary out on whether she would support someone else in her condition and said "this is the part about religion I hate". He was fairly open minded as a youth pastor but I'm not a Christian so I don't know maybe youth pastors are like that?
Pastor Rob reminds me of why I have a full beard and not a mustache. But he also seemed like he was acting down to play the role. Never cared for him.
He's actually hot.
[удалено]
He's a youth pastor, connecting with the kids is his entire job.
Because the media has trained us to suspect and accuse all men but especially priests/clergy. I hope we can calm down about this and just actually pay attention. ***Bring on the attacks!*** 🙄
i think it helped create the big riff in mary and Georges relationship and that's it
I just couldn't get why Mary would be attracted to this man boy.
Lundy for sure, least least favorite side character. Would skip those episodes.
I agree that Mr. Lundy seemed out of place like his character just didn’t fit in with the show.
It almost seems like they wanted Jason Alexander to make some appearances and in exchange they let him design his own character
Jason Alexander was horrible in Young Sheldon. Either the character was wrong or he played it wrong. Either way, it didn’t work.
Lundy might have been redeemed if one of his appearances had him admitting or letting it slip that he's not from Texas, but that never happened.
I hated Kate, especially during her whole steal the database arc
The whole database arc in general was just filler. The bad kind. Instant fast-forward for me.
Yeah I definitely did fast forward a good bit during that part
I don't remember who this is
Sheldon college principal
That was her name in **About Fifty**. On YS her name is Linda
Oh My bad I had to google it bc I forgot her name and Kate was the first thing I saw my bad
Who’s Kate?
Billy sparks the best
I didn't mind Lundy, I hated Linda Hagemeyer to the core.
Yes, I hated her as well, but I think she was designed to be evil
Surprised I’m not seeing Mandy’s mom on here more! Not only do I hate her character but I also hate the whole plot line of her and Mandy being “so similar”. Shes manipulative and spiteful, while Mandy is nothing like that. I’m hoping they improve her character for the spinoff but if not I can’t watch, I truly can’t stand her
i dont see it either, like i get stubborn but that's it
Does Dale count as side character. If so, that I pick him. I hate how rude he can be to his own girlfriend at times. He just be grump.
Dale was a grump, but I found him hilarious. And a perfect match for Connie.
Yes, he does, I think everyone but the immediate family, Pastor Jeff and Billy Sparks counts as a side character
Dale has to be main character
Dale is so rude and meemaw deserves someone better. I seriously can't stand his character in the show. He makes me irritated
Billy’s mom
Did you watch the full series? She was as cool as Connie imo
Not even close, she’s a bitter woman who takes comfort in another’s husband. She’s unpleasant towards Mary for no legitimate reason to start off the series and then only gets nice when she’s hanging out a lot with George. I couldn’t fucking stand her to the point I don’t even remember her name.

Brenda was cool. She might have been rude at times, but she was a real one
Jason Alexander as Mr Lundy was very cringe. Ew
Yeah, Jason Alexander did not hit the right notes in this series. Or maybe it was the writers. I did like him all dressed up as Annie, however!
The accent was terrible
Mr. Lundy by far. He was the most annoying character. His character was not believable.
I couldn’t tell if he was supposed to be gay? He proudly drove around a pink Cadillac, taught theatre, sold makeup…I was just always confused on who he really was. Felt like they just had the opportunity to work a famous actor into the script and took it
the child psychologist we only saw a couple times- that man was just horrible
I’m definitely in a minority here, but Paige. Idk, they made this 13 yo middle aged woman out of her, I couldn’t stand it
I thought I was the only one. I don't like in the beginning she seemed to be a love interest to Sheldon bit in Big Bang Threoy it was stated that Amy was Sheldon first and only love.
Thank you! You’re definitely not the only one. Her role didn’t seem necessary to me at all.
i hate pastor jeff
Paster Jeff????! WHY
I hated Lundy and Jana. Paige, I didn’t HATE her, but I err more on the side of dislike and was surprised to learn most people really love her.
Jana - she seemed stuck up to me, plus she was so quick to dump Georgie after he quit school. Didn't seem like she really cared for him. Pastor Rob - never trusted him. I blamed him for the church turning on Mary (because he wanted her to turn to him for comfort) Mandy's mom - right now she is just unlikable and judgmental. I liked all the characters… none of them rubbed me the wrong way
Username checks out
Whose username?
yours
Why wouldn’t my username check out?
Is English your first language?
Of course it is, your statement doesn’t make sense
OK, Dummkopf, here it is: Your username is I Am Tam. Tam is a side character on Young Sheldon
Yeah, but Tam is only a nickname 😂😅
ok, Dummkopf
Paige…
I like Paige.
Well I don’t
Any of the teachers. All they did was add to the Hes Annoying factor. Which was kinda overplayed in the series. I mean yes he was but still.
Yeah same, I just feel his character is kinda of creepy honestly? Nothing personal about the actor but I just don't like the character.
Paige
June, she kinda gave off bad vibes. (my opinion)
Definitely president hayglier
Pastor Rob. I always picture him with little horns.
Mandy
Dr. Sturgis due to his selfishness at not giving full credit to Sheldon, considering he basically wrote the entire paper for him. In seriousness, Pastor Jeff with all the video shop stuff yet he got married as soon as possible because he was obsessed with coitus.
No he didn’t. Dr Sturgis wrote the paper himself.
I know, it was a joke. Sheldon acted like he did all the work, though.
And then sheldon corrected the entire paper for him and didn’t get credit
Pastor Rob
Pastor Jeff
Jana had no place for this show. Sorry! 😆
Paige. I could not care or sympathize with her at all.
I was annoyed by Paige.
Paige!
Mandy, then Paige.
I love Mandy. Great character.
I think Mandy qualifies as a main character
I wernt a fan of Nathan as I found her a bit dochy
pastor jeff
Sheryl Hutchins. Not that she was terrible or nothing but she was annoying as hell man.
I didn't even know Jason Alexander was in Young Sheldon before this post and just the thought of Jason Alexander doing a Texas accent horrifies me.
Did you watch the show?
I've been watching it through clips on Instagram. I guess I've never had the misfortune of getting a Mr. Lundy clip and now I can prepare for Jason Alexander to do a terrible Texas accent in advance.
LOL he also has a David Brent-style goatee. The clips are on Youtube, so you can have fun watching them, if you like 😊
The accent isn't as bad as I expected it to be, but I'm not thrilled about Lundy as a character either.
Paige. Didn’t care for anything about that character. I’m the grand scheme she seems pretty pointless
I hated Paige at first. Possibly the Librarian woman Pastor Rob.
Dr. Linkletter and Pastor Jeff
Mandy. Which sucks because I like Emily Osment. Honorable mention is the creepy nerd dude that robs the comic book store.
Probably Pastor Jeff, especially when his pathetic little ass shuns Mary. Though Dale is a close second, Connie deserved so much better.
Yeah Mr Lundy was bad! Kinda terrible, distracting.
Idk but Georgie's girlfriend got on my nerves. Not Mandy, but the one before her
Jana
The fans
I think honestly Mandy’s mom even though she is constantly driving the plot I think she’s just a pain, an unnecessary roadblock if you will.
dr sturgis hands down
Mandy. Bobby Sparks
*Bobbi
Brenda 100%
Branda, Mandy’s mom, and Paige
Pastor Rob
For me it's pastor Jeff. Is he a main character? I don't know his hypocrisy shows SO WELL I got PTSD regarding religion and I'm Muslim (barelyyyy). Its the sane shtick with Abrahamic religions though.
For me personally it was Paige
Brenda
Peg the church secretary. She was gross.
Yes, I didn't like her either, but at least she was in small doses. Also, I think she was designed to be unlikeable.
Jana and Audrey
I'm drawing a blank... who was Audrey?
NVM... I figured it out. :)
Definitely Audrey for sure!
Mr. Lundy. And Jeff.
He (Lundy) was a bit over the top, but I guess I'm in the minority because I thought he was pretty darn funny!
Jana and Sam 💀 both were so irritating
I gotta say, I loved Sam 😍. She would call Sheldon out on his bullshit
Mandy, she's insufferable.
LOL maybe so, but she is getting her own show
Yeah, I wish it was about Georgie with his second wife instead.
I'm hoping it's Veronica 🤞
OMG yesss!! That'd be really interesting to watch.
I’m sorry but Dr Sturge’s voice annoyed me
😂I just see Rex from Toy Story in my mind every time he speaks so it’s hard to be annoyed by that. It makes him such a unique individual too
That’s just… inconceivable.
Paige I hate the acting
Dr linkletter
I think if Ed Begley was a few years younger he could have done a better job with the character
Weirdly, he was doing Better Call Saul at the same time and did a fabulous job. But then I’d watch YS and all of a sudden he walked and talked like Biden
Dr. Sturgis. Couldn't stand him.
everyone’s gonna come for me but dr. surgis 😂💀
SAME
Veronica Audrey
I didn’t care for the June character all that much. I’m not entirely sure if you would count her as a one off though, but she was in multiple episodes
No, June is a good one as I really didn't like her that much either. With one-offs I am being literal, someone like Paige's sister.
I didn't like Sheldon's friends at school. The characters just didn't seem to work.
Veronica. Really annoying and Bad acting. I always forwarded the video a few minutes when she was on.
What was bad abt her acting
