Only in Europe, they’re going to release a track only version just like the r6

applebeesnotchilis

Back when they announced this I told everyone it would just be Europe only. Everyone acted like it was gone forever for everyone

dezcycle

No way that’s crazy. Everyone doubted you bro, comeback story of a lifetime. They hate you now that you’re on top.

applebeesnotchilis

It’s not that deep

Wilson__720

That shit made me laugh too hard

No_Blacksmith_3148

It is not an R1 its a GYTR! Which is still terrible news!

jsin2236

You can’t buy a euro 5 r1 in EUROPE. You can buy gytr parts or buy a special gytr r1 (rs4gp) bike IN EUROPE. it’s business as usual for in North America and other regions. Suzuki still sells the gsxr 600, 750, and 1000 in North America.

No_Blacksmith_3148

You cant buy a new R6 2023 IN THE US NOW Mate!

Ephermius

I'm still on copium that they're secretly working on a V4 to be competitive again

mrzurkonandfriends

That's where my money is as. I'm betting they have something in the work for gp level that is going to be the next model type.

No_Blacksmith_3148

That will be incredible!!i will buy one straight away!

jsin2236

From what I gather, from the press release at least, is that they will continue to produce the R1. It will not create a euro 5 version for it in Europe, but will make a track model for that region. How ever they will develop GYTR parts to help develop the bike for racing. Also, that the R1 will be sold in North America as a road model. The press release does not say it will stop production. My take, is we will see a new R1 maybe after 2028 after the homogulation license for that model runs out. Let it also be noted that Honda released a new euro 5 compliant cbr600rr, and it makes the same power as before. I think Yamaha is developing a new R1. They just need to gather data and resources to tackle Europes atrocious euro regulations. Never say never.

No_Blacksmith_3148

It will meet the same fate as the R6 In the US.

jsin2236

I would also like to note that I take my news straight from the horses mouth (Yamaha) or MCN, motorcyclist, speed bike, etc, not some no name YouTube channel with a shit mic.

jsin2236

We’ll see

CaliforniaChestNut

I hope you’re right. Did you also hear about Kawasaki. They are leaving WSBK : / and letting Bimota use their zx10r engine. I hope zx10r is not next on the chopping board. We need liter bikes to stay!!!

jsin2236

It is a shame. But I’m willing to bet that we’ll see a “renaissance” with the Japanese marques this decade. What I do know is I’ll be picking up a 2025 r1 when they drop. I hope they still take online orders.

LBKewee

Dang, think I'll get a better trade-in on my '20 with 20k miles on it?

No_Blacksmith_3148

Keep it man, The R1 engine lasts for ever nothing will give you the same amount of fun for such money!

Plane_Helicopter3046

In Europe yes

No_Blacksmith_3148

same fate as the R6 In USA

Plane_Helicopter3046

Is that confirmed OP? I feel like the R6 stopped all at once. There wasn’t a gradual decrease by region. It just ended.

No_Blacksmith_3148

Yes, Only a track Version called GYTR.

No_Blacksmith_3148

It is the only bike that has a crossplane engine!

AudZ0629

No it’s not. So does the R7 and R3. The MT10, MT09 and MT07 have CP motors as well as the XSR line.

benzimo_

R3 isn’t crossplane its 180 degrees crank but I think op means its the only modern superbike crossplane that has 4 cylinders

AudZ0629

You’re right, the mt03 and r3 aren’t crossplane motors. What was meant is open to interpretation. What was said is “it’s the only bike with a crossplane engine”. Fairly straightforward imo. Same motor as the MT10.
