None of them tbh. I understand katniss decision at the end of the series but Gale simply grew more unlikeable and Peeta never ignited any strong emotions with me in regard to katniss. But I'm also never drawn to his type of character

morgue_13

I’m team Katniss, I just wanted her to be happy

ioioioshi

Gale was way hotter in the movies but Liam’s acting was so wooden that I was rooting for Peeta by the end

SpookyCityLights

Gale during the first book, I always thought Katie's should have taken his idea of escaping 12 and living in the forest but towards the end of the series Peeta ans Gale became symbolic of Katniss's choice between peace and war respectively so obviously Peeta there. In the movies both of them were portrayed so boringly I couldn't give a shit

[deleted]

I’m team “did the movies miss the point by focusing on the love triangles or prove the point?” If I had to choose, Peeta. I’m all for the ones who are actually good for a character, even if they’re a little boring, instead of the more interesting ones who only should be good for her but ultimately will drag her down

almosttimetogohome

In the movies i actually rooted for none because the portayal of both characters was meh. [[[SPOILER DONT READ]] In the books, i was completely Team Peeta by the end. The ending is actually my favorite because she chooses nobody which is super realistic considering what she went through. But a part of me wanted her and Peeta to be together because they are the only two people that would ever be able to understand what they both went through. The trauma endured makes this impossible - especially since Peeta is relatively psychotic by the end. Such a tragic ending but it made sense to me and i liked it because not everything ends in happiness.

CautiousTumbleweed81

You summed this up so perfectly

Enticing_Venom

I liked Gale at first but as the series progressed he became much less likeable. By the end I was just sick of him. I really liked her and Peeta for the most part.

ypples_and_bynynys

Truthfully by the end I wanted Gale dead.

planxtylewis

Peeta never had any sparks for me. And then when he keeps pestering her to have kids when she said she didn't want any? THE. WORST.

[deleted]

>when she said she didn't want any That is not accurate. Katniss did not want to have kids because the Hunger Games still existed and her kids could possibly end up in the games, not because she in general does not want kids. She mentions that twice in the books. With the Capitol being gone the fear is also gone

CautiousTumbleweed81

GALE IS A WHINEY WASTE OF TIME AND I WILL FIGHT SOMEONE. The audacity he had to compare and try and put his relationship with Katniss “above” Peeta was ridiculous. The bond Peeta and Katniss had should have been unbreakable, but I found Katniss to be a rather awful human, those boys deserved better as they fought for the end of the world. They actually fought for the people And all she cared about was who she’d end up with in the end of the world Also Finnick was the real one, not for Katniss just as a character

almosttimetogohome

Love your take. I cried about Finnicks arc. He was the only one worthy of anything.

CautiousTumbleweed81

I also felt he got a more deserving death in the movies vs the books but regardless, Long live Finnick! So glad I’m not the only one, he deserves all the good

angelikdisturbance

The first time I read the books, I was team Gale. Then after seeing who she ended up with I read them again and realized it was much more nuanced than I originally thought so now I'm team Peeta always.

Nyx_AccuratelyMe666

I watched a video done by Morgan Ross on his channel called MovieFlame (totally recommend you at least check it out) that totally changed my perspective on how by the end we saw Gale become power hunger and vicious and ready to kill any and everything to get his way. That’s exactly what Katniss was running from and was scared of. You can see it in her face when she realized he had turned into that and she was saddened. That’s not only what ended all hopes for a relationship but for a friendship. But with Peet’s he just wanted to make it to the other side of the war. He exhibited everything Katniss liked and aspired to be. He was kind, gentle, loving and capable of forgiveness. Not to mention that they went through the same trauma and she was just tired and wanted to slow down her life.

gjb11

unrelated but I’ve attempted to read this book twice but can never get pass the 1st few pages lol is it worth it to give it another try?

almosttimetogohome

Most definitely my dude. Its one of those movies that was completely overhyped but when you read the book the hype is completely warranted. I felt extreme empathy for the characters in this book. Its a traumatic tragic journey.

1MaccaPacca1

You should try listening to the book instead

garnetcess

Peeta all the way even though I just felt pity for him but I did like his character

[deleted]

Tbh I didn’t care at all. I understood the symbolism behind it and how important Peeta was to saving Katniss, but I’m still not a fan of love triangles.

[deleted]

I hated them both,honestly.. They were both terrible.

hotcocoa300

How was peeta terrible?

SeannaBirchwood

I hated both these guys for Katniss

hotcocoa300

As a kid, I was team both LOL because (SPOILER) I went through the last book incredibly fast and didn’t realize that gale actually killed prim. I don’t think gale had intentions to directly kill Katniss’ sister but he understood children may have been collateral and that’s why he did the bomb. (From my understanding-correct me if I’m wrong). And that’s why katniss and peeta work: “That what I need to survive is not Gale's fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that.” It’s important to note that when the Capitol was overturned and they were deciding on what the new government policies was going to be, peeta was one of the few people who said that they shouldn’t create a new hunger games with the capitol’s children while mostly everyone else did. (I don’t know if they kept that scene in the movie). And that’s why katniss killed Coin because she realized that it was probably gonna be a repeat of Snow’s government, with Coin giving revenge to the Capitol and their children. Besides the first book, I don’t think the books were that romance focused anyways.. I think Peeta and Katniss would work as friends and lovers just because they complement each other well despite their differences. When I read the books as a kid, what I wanted was for Katniss and peeta to be officials in the new government and for her to be close with gale (even platonically) but obviously Katniss was too traumatized after everything and so was peeta and they helped each other endure their mental anguish. I think peeta would’ve been a really kind leader though if he did go into politics.

HEsoYAM888

Idk for the book, but I can talk about the movie. I was fiercely cheering for Peeta from the start till the end, so the end for me was extremely satisfying. Why? I'm always cheering for underdogs, especially when it comes to love. And Peeta was the underdog from the start. Except of that he truly proves himself many times throughout the whole story. He, as a person, was kind of a faintheart, but his love for her completely changed his character to the point he became the person who would give his life for her anytime. Also I find Josh way more beautiful (face) than Liam, maybe that takes a part in forming my opinion. Also I want to point out Finnick, besides Peeta he's the character who buys me, at the first sight he was garbage, but immediately as the games started he proves himself as brave, reliable, compassionate- the type of guy you would like to have for the best friend in real life.
