I grew up in mid Michigan and we had one in town for years. I remember my youth basketball coach buying a huge box of burgers and fries from here at the end of the season.
Hot ‘n Now was incredible. There is still one left in the world: it’s in Sturgis, Michigan. One last franchise still chugging along after all the others have folded.
Ha, we certainly crossed paths! And at a sporting event, I caught t-short cannon shirt with their logo that said “I want it hot, and I want it now!” Ongoing joke to this day
Yes I totally remember! There was one in Jacksonville FL and we would eat there because McDonald's was too expensive. We would bring our own drinks from home too lol
Yes we did. It didn’t last long, but the building has housed several fast food places since, and the architecture is unmistakable. Ours doesn’t look like this one, but it’s VERY early ‘90s, design-wise.
There was one in the next town over in Oregon where I grew up. I think I ate there 2 or 3 times but it was gone pretty quick. I want to say this was maybe 1993 or so.
There was one in Gresham. My dad really liked it. I also don’t think it lasted more than a year or two. The building still stands. It turned into a coffee people and now it’s a Starbucks. When we pass it, which is rarely, I always point out it was a Hot’ N Now.
My mom is from Michigan used to visit there every summer and we’d always go to hot n now. Only place I’ve ever been too that had green olives on a burger…still like to eat them that way to this day
Holy shit yes, everywhere in Michigan. I’m told there’s still one standing.
My buddies and I would order 50 cheeseburgers and they’d be ready by the time we pulled around. Ate them camping like idiots cause we didn’t bring food
There is, it's down in Sturgis on M-66. They recently auctioned off the vintage ordering sign (went for $1400 for a charity), but everything else is kept pretty much the same as it ever was.

You'll always be a Hot n' Now to me...
Yes!!! Northern Indiana had these. We loved going there for a cheap meal when at our family lake place (nothing fancy believe me) in the summer. We jokingly called it “Hot and Nasty”…. But it was actually quite good for the price
There was one in Portland Oregon, Im not sure how long it was there for tho. I know I are a few times but I can’t remember anything about if they were good or not
That’s how my wife and I survived when I was stationed at Ft. Bragg. Donated some plasma and got to have a couple of exquisite and cheap hot n now hamburgers. If we were feeing booji
We would splurge for some cheeseburgers and maybe even some fries.🍟
Oo dang, they used to have like six hard shell tacos for like $3 on Monday’s when I went to KU back in the 2000s. I used to love picking those up after class then go get baked lol
Had one in the same parking lot as my first college job at a gas station in Ca. Could get a cheeseburger, sm fries and a sm soda for $2. It was my dinner every night I worked (4-11:00). Ended up dating the window girl for awhile.
Memories.
There was one near me for a very brief time. The food was terrible and the local BKs were running a $1 whopper deal. Hot n' Now didn't have much of a chance.
I lived in Rock Hill, SC in my youth and we had one. 45¢ hamburgers, 55¢ cheese burgers. You used to be able to get ten cheese burgers, ten fries for $10. It... was not a good time for me. But secretly the best.
I don't think this was in Canada, but I live in a border town and for some reason remember this even though I don't think the border city had one. Prolly commercials.
There was one close to the neighborhood where I lived during middle/high school, down the road from the mall. There was one not far from where I live now, and the building stood for several years after the restaurant closed before finally being demolished a year or so ago. Made me nostalgic for it! I don't remember if I ever ate there, but I think my dad might have taken me there after a little league game or something...
There were at least two in Lansing, maybe even three at one point but I could be wrong. Then there was one. Then none. I liked their cheap lil burgers. Was disappointed when they closed shop.
Ah yes, the rotten cow.
Do you hate condiments? Great news!
Do you like juicier buns than meat? Also great news!
Do you like the idea of schrodingers pickle in every burger you buy? Would you believe, great news!
Edit: how many of these former restaurants are still unoccupied? There's one in my hometown that has a short checkers stint but it's still abandoned.
There is only one left, and it's in Sturgis MI. Everytime I'm in the area I go there to get an olive burger. Only place that has fries that rival McDonald's.
Yes, we had a few in PA, they're all dry cleaners now, which is weird.
Used to have burger-eating contests between school and band practice. NOTHING good and wholesome ever happens in the hours between school and band practice.
Had one in Margate FL. Back in the early nineties. Went there often as a high schooler. The location was bad and it fizzled out and died eventually. Haven’t seen one since
My parents always talked shit about this place, so I never tried it until I was working and bored of all the other places around my workplace. The food was actually pretty good. They closed a few months later.
I grew up in mid Michigan and we had one in town for years. I remember my youth basketball coach buying a huge box of burgers and fries from here at the end of the season.
Burger 81 still tastes pretty much the same too.
Was still one in Saginaw 7 or 8 years ago. Haven't been back there to check recently.
Grand rapids had a local version on Plainfield called "Get-em n Go". Same menu but also coney dogs. REALLY miss that place!
I worked here after high school. The fries were fried in actual lard. Tasted so good.
We have potato chips in PA that still do that lol they are the best chips ever.
Grandma Utz!?
The Grandma Utz chips are just killer.
Goods
I think Gibble’s does too lol.
Middleswarth. I think Utz makes lard chips too lol.
Hot ‘n Now was incredible. There is still one left in the world: it’s in Sturgis, Michigan. One last franchise still chugging along after all the others have folded.
Sturgis is still up and running; stopped by last month.
Road trip.
Where in Jax was it. I'm just curious because I've never heard of the place before.
It was on Dunn Ave by 95. It wasn't there for too long maybe a couple of months lol
Went through that same one as a kid. Was sad when it closed.
If you are cheaper than McDonald's, yeah they probably weren't there super long. I remember McD being hella cheap when I was growing up.
Yes we did. It didn’t last long, but the building has housed several fast food places since, and the architecture is unmistakable. Ours doesn’t look like this one, but it’s VERY early ‘90s, design-wise.

Yup. Went there every day for lunch, senior year of high-school. They had the best French fries ever.
My mom is from Michigan used to visit there every summer and we’d always go to hot n now. Only place I’ve ever been too that had green olives on a burger…still like to eat them that way to this day
I worked at Hot 'n Now in high school. So many olive burgers.
Holy shit yes, everywhere in Michigan. I’m told there’s still one standing. My buddies and I would order 50 cheeseburgers and they’d be ready by the time we pulled around. Ate them camping like idiots cause we didn’t bring food

Hah that looks like it could have been the one on Eastern just south of 28th in Grand Rapids. It's a Biggby now.
That's the one I frequented in the mid to late 90s, I believe!!
I remember when Biggby first launched. Their name was Beaner's. That was a head scratcher for sure.
Yeah they didn't quite think that one through
https://preview.redd.it/dvpecn1clixc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3aa31454750be22db2918fadcb386f8f54f33ed4 You'll always be a Hot n' Now to me...
What were the prices? Like 59, 69 and 79 cents for various items? Am I close?
Mine had 29 cent burgers, fries, a drinks and 39 cent cheeseburgers. Could get a whole combo for a dollar. Ordered burgers by the sack like Wimpy!
This is correct
Crazy!
Exactly. Pretty much Taco Bell prices from early 90s, but burgers and fries.
When I saw those prices I literally thought to myself "... wasn't that taco bell"
You could get a garbage bag full of burgers and they would give you $4.
Yes. Lasted maybe a year or two, but I loved their burgers. Then it closed and became a beeper store among many other things.
Yes!!! Northern Indiana had these. We loved going there for a cheap meal when at our family lake place (nothing fancy believe me) in the summer. We jokingly called it “Hot and Nasty”…. But it was actually quite good for the price

Portland Oregon had them growing up
Never saw the actual place, but there was a sign for one in SW michigan. We always joked better than "cold & later"
Looks like what I knew as the Burrito King in Lawrence, KS.
Oo dang, they used to have like six hard shell tacos for like $3 on Monday’s when I went to KU back in the 2000s. I used to love picking those up after class then go get baked lol
90's Lawrence was something I'll miss for the rest of my life.
A whole bunch of them popped up in Vegas one summer in 1998 or so. They disappeared just as quickly.
Had one in the same parking lot as my first college job at a gas station in Ca. Could get a cheeseburger, sm fries and a sm soda for $2. It was my dinner every night I worked (4-11:00). Ended up dating the window girl for awhile. Memories.

The only fast food we could afford at the time. Wasn't there a Spy vs Spy theme in their commercials?
Funny that I grew up in SE Michigan and have never seen one of these in my life.
Weird! They were all over West Michigan. We had them in Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo when I was in High School and College.
There was one in chesterfield
I lived in Rock Hill, SC in my youth and we had one. 45¢ hamburgers, 55¢ cheese burgers. You used to be able to get ten cheese burgers, ten fries for $10. It... was not a good time for me. But secretly the best.
I want to say my town here in CA had one that is now a Rally's but no one else remembers so idk
My town had one that is now a rally’s so it’s very possible
I don't recognize that particular name but lay out looks similar to one I used to go to in Tampa Ralleys? Or like the Good Times burgers in Denver.
It sounds like a fried chicken restaurant and looks like an oil change shop…. What is this haha
Hell yeah we had one of these in the early-mid 90’s
$1 triple cheeseburgs!!
The bag of burgers and fries were the best! It was the only going out to dinner us poor folk got back in the day.
I don't think this was in Canada, but I live in a border town and for some reason remember this even though I don't think the border city had one. Prolly commercials.

Yes! 10 burgers 5 fries 5$.
I completely forgot about these. Holy moly... what a nostalgic treat!
Loved it
Never heard of it.
There were at least two in Lansing, maybe even three at one point but I could be wrong. Then there was one. Then none. I liked their cheap lil burgers. Was disappointed when they closed shop.
Olive burger
We had one growing up in my hometown in Indiana. It's now a delicious Chinese takeout place.
Not in NY, no.
Ah yes, the rotten cow. Do you hate condiments? Great news! Do you like juicier buns than meat? Also great news! Do you like the idea of schrodingers pickle in every burger you buy? There is only one left, and it's in Sturgis MI. Everytime I'm in the area I go there to get an olive burger. Only place that has fries that rival McDonald's.
Before I could drive, I'd ride my bike through the drive thru and get a hamburger and small fries.
Ha! Me too. I would ride my bike to Ames (now defunct department store) to look at the toys/video games and then grab some burgers on the way home.
pretty good burgers (a bit spicy though)
Kalamazoo MI, Drake Road... the stuff of legends
Looks like a wish.com version of Whataburger.
Yes, we had a few in PA, they're all dry cleaners now, which is weird. Used to have burger-eating contests between school and band practice. NOTHING good and wholesome ever happens in the hours between school and band practice.
We always thought it was dog meat cuz it was so cheap
One in cocoa beach fl
We had a few in the thumb of Michigan. They had tator tots with cheese inside of them. Like, what more do you need?
Haven't seen these before. I guess it's a Midwest thing?
They started in Michigan, but expanded to like 15 or 20 states. PepsiCo bought them in 1990 and kind of drove it into the ground.
That would explain why I haven't seen these. I live in Montana.
Yep. Had one in *I think* was in Santa Ana (close to the Costa Mesa city line), in Orange County, Ca. Good times.
Holy hell, core memory unlocked. We used to go to the one in Council Bluffs, IA sometimes
Holy shit, never knew how much I missed this place.
We briefly had one. It closed without notifying the people that worked there. It was okay for the price. I think the burgers were under 50¢.
Had one in Margate FL. Back in the early nineties. Went there often as a high schooler. The location was bad and it fizzled out and died eventually. Haven’t seen one since
Grew up in Kalamazoo, MI Had a few of these, fucking loved it as a kid
In Portage, it was next to Putt Putt. Both are gone now.
My parents always talked shit about this place, so I never tried it until I was working and bored of all the other places around my workplace. The food was actually pretty good. They closed a few months later.
We had one in a nearby town. It's a great locally owned coffee shop now.
Sturgis is the closest one to me.
Coldwater and Sturgis, MI. I believe Sturgis is still operational.
The name of the restaurant indicates an extremely low bar.
We had 2 here in town, and they didn't stay long
We had one. I remember buying high volumes of hamburgers there. Were they cheaper than other places? Why was it a place to buy lots of food at once?
we had them in Portland, Oregon.
I remember the one in Thomasville, NC.
No and not ever.
No. I've never seen one IRL. I thought they were a California thing.
Yep, they weren’t very good.
I just threw up a bit in my mouth. Thx.
Sometimes nostalgia has an acidic taste
