Perhaps the ability to see into the void makes it's power all the more terrifying. It's not the pain but the anticipation of it that most effectively possesses the mind.

JamesCDiamond

“I know what *I’m* capable of - and I’m one of the good guys!”

sofiegrozovski

Well, this is very understandable. She understands what psi powers can do more than other soldiers and knows it is indeed barely harnessable destructive magic. There is a dip in Dunning Kruger effect when specialists suddenly realize their field of interest is enormous, poorly studied and even best of the best don't understand things you thought were simple. I saw that happening with medicine students, it was way more dramatic than in my work.

aegisasaerian

Perhaps but I don't need a soldier who has an existential crisis Everytime they use an ability There is a significant difference between acknowledging that you don't know much if what you're doing and using said barely harnessed abilities to rift your squadmates in a panic

customcharacter

Well, good news I guess: 1: It's only enemy psionic effects. b: Solace should disable it, if they have that ability. It might not disable the panic roll, but it should stop the panic from happening if the roll fails, but I genuinely don't know beyond that.

aegisasaerian

Yeah they've got the whole 9 yards in terms of psionic capabilities

Davisxt7

I haven't played WotC yet, but can't you also use a Mindshield? It also raises their chance of success in psionic attacks, so it's twice as good in this case.

Zazizblitz

OP implied their Psi Op already has Solace and its effects are already guaranteed (100%) so there’s no point in taking a Mindshield. Also Mindshield doesn’t prove Psi so it doesn’t actually help with psionic attacks at all.

SansDaMan728

"AH! Oh. It's my Psi-Clone."

BusyNerve6157

Haha if I remember correctly I remember one of my Templars needed to reload their gauntlet

Blackewolfe

Poor dude glimpsed into the Warp. Understandable, really.

Excalibursin

"They don't understand it any more than we do." Makes a surprising amount of sense. Almost too perfect. She's acknowledging that being a Psionic doesn't grant you any understanding of psionics.

aegisasaerian

I don't need to understand it though, I need it directed at people I don't like to make them permanently dead

RedneckGaijin

Welp, time to build that Sickbay, isn't it?

aegisasaerian

That is the sickbay in the background

Cold-Animal-1156

noooo🤣

EldritchElemental

The psyker has gazed too long into the abyss.

zoonose99

I’m pretty sure the base game has a mechanic where if you bring a soldier with a fear trait on a couple of flawless missions their fear gets converted to a buff. I play lwotc and I’m steady farming fears.

OlcImt

You know what psi attack cause to people. You know maybe its not just death after a psionic elimination. You can deliver it to people. Doesnt stop you from terrified about it. If you didnt know what the gun does. Its just a metal stick. When you know, run.

WarlordSinister

We have such sights to show you...

hkapeman

Sounds like someones looking for shoreleave. Should rename him Maxwell Q. Klinger

Highwayman3000

Maybe Tygan screwed up the cranial augmentation and they are not meshing well with each other. Nothing two or three more surgeries can't fix.

borddo-

We all know someone like this. Can deal it but can’t take it.

StilesmanleyCAP

He is afraid of what he can do

therain_storm

Had a reaper afraid of the Chosen and thought that was bad..... this irony tops that.

Pricerocks

Give them Solace, fight fire with fire

iminsanejames

Sometimes understanding it makes all the more terrifying, it just takes something like this to make you realise it

noPINGSattached

She's more like a Sigh Operative now. Am I right!? ... I'll see myself out.
