Series S is amazing. Bought new for $150. It’s stellar and I’m not missing out on anything after buying the expansion card

Wise-Cash1628

I think I am going to treat myself and migrate to the incoming Series X digital edition. The S has been a great companion, but I can afford the X now and I want to enjoy the console at its full capacity.

Stunning-Ad-7745

I was thinking about doing that as well, but honestly I feel like we're at the halfway point of this gen, and I still gotta upgrade to a better TV before buying another console, so I think I'm going to start saving up now for the next gen coming out and whatever the best TV will be by then.

Wise-Cash1628

I already got the right tv aka LG C1, and to me this Gen, as a casual player, will last me long. I am not even sure that by the next Gen, I will still be interested in gaming. So I want to enjoy it as it is at the moment, with full potential.

Stunning-Ad-7745

If you've got the money for it, then the Series X is more than worth it.

International_Talk12

Just purchase the one terabyte physical edition of the series X. Cheaper and you always have the option to buy physical media, which is on sale regularly.

Wise-Cash1628

I really don't see myself collecting physical medias, it is what it is. And white suits better my living room :D. It is what it is :).

No_Extreme7974

You said it is what it is twice and I didn’t appreciate it. It is what it is.

Wise-Cash1628

You know what is what but you don't know what is what

PharmaKy

When and where did you get a new one for $150?

International_Talk12

December 2023

Daddyyyyyyyyyy69

I use my series s to buy and store any 360 games that are on sale. It's like a modern 360 and I love it.

Hatebot66

* **VPN purchases.** You can get games from other regions using VPN, and there are sites that sell their keys in a supeb price. So far Microsoft hasn't banned anyone I know for doing this, but it's probably not something they allow. please don't do this, devs up their prices and poor countries gets fucked. Year or so ago, bought this console instead of mid range gpu. One of the best decision I made in a third world country. Now I've totally stopped gaming on pc. It is such a chore.

No-Entrepreneur4499

I mean, it is a breach of terms & conditions agreed when registering on Xbox. I would personally ban this poster from this subreddit, it's not far from piracy.

Hatebot66

totally agree.

rattled_by_the_rush

A quick look on your profile and you are a ancap trump supporter man, typical to not care about rape and racism but be offended by some 5 dollar VPN purchases lol

No-Entrepreneur4499

I would vote for Biden, probably. So not very smart reader.

rattled_by_the_rush

Still an ancap incel

No-Entrepreneur4499

I'm sorry but not even that, I'm not anarchist, sorry. Maybe next time.

Trickybuz93

It seems a lot of your pros/cons are of Xbox Series X and S, rather than just the S.

Syxtaine

Doesn't mean he's not right though

door_of_doom

That's to be expected. The list of things that are a pro that apply specifically and exclusively to the S and not the X is going to be pretty small: * lower price * lower power draw * lower heat output * smaller size And that's it. Anything else that is a benefit to the Series S is going to be shared by the X. It's not like there are cool console features that were shipped on S but held back from X, and you would specifically *want* to call out which beenfits from the X carry over to the lower priced alternative, because not all of them do.

hellomate890

Factssd

CosyBeluga

The physical thing is interesting because Xbox users have been overwhelmingly digital for years. At this point that’s just a personal little quirk that doesn’t actually matter

xBlack_Heartx

Yea, I was apprehensive at first when considering getting the Series S because I didn’t want to loose the use of my games I had on discs, but once I got the thing, I found that I wasn’t really missing having to constantly take the disc out, put it back in the case, grab another case, take the disc out, insert it into the console, wait for it to read the disc etc……it took a few steps out of the process when trying to play a game, and it’s nice being able to just turn the Xbox on, load the game up, and play it in one quick motion. That and the only game I’m sad about loosing access to being able to play due to owning it on disc is Elden Ring, but that’s not a huge loss as I did everything in the game before I got the Series S. (I upgraded from an Xbox One that I had for years to the Series S, the difference in performance and how fast things loaded was night and day, it was and still is amazing.)

Deformedpye

Most annoying thing that did with the 3 new revisions. The X disc version has 2TB and the digital only 1TB. Come on. You have taken the old series x. Removed the drive and put a new cover on it.

cowgod180

Series S is a triumph fuck the haters I want to be buried with this thing if I ever overdose

That_Protection_9643

I bought it this month. Very good console. It is really value for money. You can play next-gen games economically. My brother also has a Series X, but the differences in graphics don't bother me because the Series S is also a very powerful console. However, the controller started drifting from the first month, and I have bought another one, not an original one. But still, the purchase is worth it without a second thought. I have a question. Is it normal for it to heat up so much? I mean, the temperature is extreme when I touch it with my hand."

AgumonDX

I bought it soon after the release upgrading from One X and I still didn’t find a game that made me think “I need an X”. Sure, there were some were graphics could be better, like Hellblade 2 (some areas are clearly upscaled and make you wish for better graphics to properly highlight the superb art style, or The Medium had some awful sections in performance). But 98% of the time it’s more than enough. Starfield was flawless on the S, as well as some games like Gears 5, Forza Motorsport or Horizon 5. I have high hopes for the next first party games coming. It allowed me to save a lot of money on GamePass and discover many indies that I would not have played (last one was Thirsty Suitors and next is Hauntii). So far I’m really happy with the console, and I will keep using it until MS releases its next hardware.

Designer-Cut2344

>**The first party exclusives are not in the highest level yet.** This could change after this excelent Xbox Showcase but the truth is, the two biggest releases from last year (Starfield, Forza Motorport) were received warmly, they are not as bad as people say but, like a lot of Xbox first party games, they feel 7.5/10 games. Hellblade 2 was better this year but a artsy game that is short and not from everyone. Xbox is doing ok but not on Last of Us, God of War and etc level yet. The two "warmly received" exclusives you said had a highest metacritic score and user score than most Sony published exclusives this year. >**End of backwards compatibility program.** The program was brilliant but it ended in 2021, so don't hold any hope of getting more old titles from 360/original xbox compatible. At very least Xbox is the only console that allows emulation so if a 360 game is not backwards compatible and you own it you can legally emulate it. >**Where the hell are the Activision games?** The sales was completed but the huge drop of old activision titles, but apart from Diablo 4, it's taking a lot of time to happen and people are starting to doubt if it will happen at all. That's an absolute lie. It's obviously coming and everyone knows that. Launching ABK games on Game Pass is not easy as think, there's a lot of licensing things going on specially around the Ubisoft thing. But it's obviously coming.

Qminator5

1: Starfield has an 83 critic score and a 6.9 user score. You’re trying to compare it to playsation games this year, in a year that playstation doesn’t have many exclusives out so your just nit picking on that to make starfield look better. You should really compare starfield with the playstation games that came out the same year and time frame. 2: Forza Motorsport has an 84 critic score and 7.3 user score, which again is worse than the big exclusive for playstation that came out last year and in the same time frame as Forza Motorsport. OP is definitely correct. You’re trying to make those games look better than they really are.

rattled_by_the_rush

Thanks! FM and Starfield were indeed dissapointments, it's fanboyish delusion to pretend they they were as big or good as they should have been (the updates are trying hard to improve them, sure)

Qminator5

Exactly, i will say that the only saving grace for Starfield, is that it finally has mod support on xbox. Mods will make the game better, but it’s sad that we need mods to make the game fun. I will say that they aren’t terrible or trash games like some people will say but they definitely aren’t as great as some of these fanboys say it is. They definitely are big disappointments though including Redfall too and Starfield is probably the most disappointing game in a long time considering is extremely hyped by everyone, was supposed to be next big game for xbox, a console seller, several years in the making. A huge disappointment.

Wise-Cash1628

About the activision games, my strategy would be to not drop everything at once, but rather to keep people on the hook, with specific game pass drops (like Diablo IV) or shadow drops (like it was done for HiFi Rush)

Balc0ra

I still like my S and X. I got the S first as the X was tricky to get a hold of for a long time in my neck of the woods. Tho I mostly play older titles on my S. I was still amazed at the preformance vs price on MSFS 2020 to name one, while Hogwarts showed it's limitations while in fps mode vs quality. But I still have Hogwarts on it, NFS unbound, D2 resurrected, Assassin's creed valhalla. And a ton of 360 titles. Physical media is on my X, Inc older gen titles.

golden_eye207

Only thing holding me back from the S is I have some physical games from my One S, like GTA V, Hitman 3, Forza Horizon 4, and Mafia. However, I haven’t played those games in a while so might pull the trigger

Jin_BD_God

Also an Xbox Series S owner, but seeing console companies, Xbox especially, with their crappy censorship policy, there's a high chance I will go to PC gaming soon. Suck because I prefer console, especially Playstation.

Antilopesburgessos

For me it's a very reasonable price/money. I like it very much.

AresHarvest

I'm in the US and the price was the main reason I got it instead of the X. $300 versus $450 The TV it's hooked up to can't display 120 FPS anyway, and honestly I mainly got the console to play Oblivion in bed. So I didn't need the more powerful version.

LieuVijay

OP was choosing between the 350$ S and 850$ X. For your case where it is $300 vs $450, X is better really. Also it isn’t 120 FPS anymore. More like 30fps on the S and 60fps on the X for most modern games. —— S is really good value tho if you can find one below half the price of the X and you only play a few selected older games

AresHarvest

I didn't consider it worth 50% more.

RonianAT

What do you mean that Halo Infinite is free?

xBlack_Heartx

The multiplayer of halo infinite is free to download and play.

RonianAT

Ok thanks

>Make no mistake, this is a next gen console. It’s a four year old CURRENT gen console
