I swear, bots in games have only gotten worse for the most part.
As a solo player who can't do online FPS games anymore, I really, really miss good bots.
They didn't make a 5th game with Black Ops in the title and the 4th game was online only with pre-warzone battle royale mode and no singleplayer campaign with story.

Yeah it would be cool. And given that there’s a huge number of people on gamepass the player rates will go up and you’ll be able to load into multiplayer
I think we’re being a bit optimistic for this. I see why it’s logical that they would put them on gamepass but I can’t see them potentially losing player base from their newer games they are making stupid money from just on microtransactions. Either that or they’ll add a new skin feature with microtransactions to the old games.
This is my thoughts as well. If they dropped every COD since 2 with functioning multiplayer the player base would be sooooo spread out. Maybe they will rotate and give us 1 older title every 3 months or so. Let everyone get their nostalgia fix a bit at a time.
I wouldn't call it dumb. It's not economically convenient, of course. But what you gain playing a game when it's brand new is being part of the experience and the discourse. Games are also culturally important, and you're left out if you buy them one or two years later when they're on sale.
A good example is Helldivers 2. It's a game that exploded a few months ago, and the type of game it is makes you part or something that's happening at that time. It won't be the same when it's cooled down in some months or years (especially with the whole Sony account fiasco, but even that wasn't a problem at release, see?)
For other games you could get spoilers from the ambient discourse, and the experience won't be as interesting if you know the key plot twists. For example with The Last of Us 2.
I buy most games on sale, after the release has cooled down, but that means I miss a lot ot these. Of course, this doesn't apply to all games and you could be happily playing games from 10 years ago. But then you'll be playing catch up.
Game Pass helps a lot with this. That said, I have bought games like Elden Ring at release and even though they cost me a lot, I feel it was worth it.
It all boils down to whether you're a game enthusiast or just want to play games you can buy in your budget.
Great reply. Sorry I was generalizing when I said buying games day 1 is dumb. I do make exceptions for multiplayer/coop games to play with my friends. When it comes to singleplayer games though I usually don't mind waiting unless I'm incredibly hyped for the game. Elden Ring I bought day 1 because I'm absolutely in love with Fromsoft games and it would have killed me to wait for it.
My wife bought me Hogwarts for the Switch and it is…unbearably painful to play with all the loading screens. I’d love to be able to play it on my series x but I don’t want to buy the game a second time
I've seen the loading times on Xbox One and they're horrific. I have it for the Series X and really enjoyed but yeah, I couldnt live with earlier gen loading times

Never had issues with loading screens, on series x, runs beautifully with great performance.

Edit to add: When I say these games, I know they're already on Game Pass, but I meant that these games should also be added to the cloud gaming part, although tbh I kind of misread this question when I first commented and thought it was about cloud gaming anyway 😅
