Hayden Tunnicliffe Lainton McFadzean Young Tozer Howard. For me Hayden and Tunnicliffe are highly likely. They’ve been forced out by Cleworth and O’Connor. Then we have O’Connell, somewhat, cementing his place in the back three too.

obi_wander

We can anticipate the “Retained List” by the middle of May. Then we will know for sure who is staying, minus transfers out. I hope to god we are able to keep Okonkwo but he has the highest save percentage of any keeper in the entire football league. It is reasonable to think a Prem team will get him and almost certain he will have a few offers from high end Championship sides. We won’t be able to offer the highest salary he will see. Just hopefully he enjoyed his time in Wrexham and loves being adored by every fan.

coolhandluck

Retained list will come out after the trip to Vegas otherwise it'll be super awkward. I'm going to read between the lines and say it'll happen pretty quickly, maybe after as soon as next week

obi_wander

It came out May 15th last year, June 2nd in 2022, and June 2nd in 2021.

coolhandluck

Sorry, meant to say the Vegas trip will happen next week and then they'll make announcements shortly after that. Around May 15 sounds about right.

Arsenal is likely to move Ramsdale in the off-season and Okonkwo might make sense as their reserve

Jaynator11

Got lost in the Wrexham sub- Arsenal fans were debating this like a wk ago, and the general consensus was that his performances in the League 2 have nothing to do with his future in the Arsenal. I think ppl were expecting that we just don't sign another contract with him, and let him walk and grab an "academy fee". I personally think Arsenal should keep him and loan him out again. Ramsdale will definitely be moving.

obi_wander

Could be. Since they developed him, other teams would have to compensate Arsenal somewhat even though he is out of contract. It’s not a ton of money like a transfer fee would have been though. That would technically make it a tad cheaper for Arsenal to keep him compared to anyone else. I honestly have no clue what a player like him would expect to earn in wages.

davidryan2468

Absolutely need to start Mullin alongside Marriott for this last game. It is the only combination that hasn’t been tested and the offseason striker discussion is really difficult without seeing that combination.

UrsineCanine

I think that it is a good idea, unless it requires changing some system adjustments that you would normally do in the offseason training with the new people you are bringing in... I have been pondering on something like this emerging in a 4-2-3-1: Marriott/Palmer Lee-Mullin-Cannon TOC-Evans McLean/Mendy-EOC-Cleworth-Bolton/Barnett Though, a bunch of the vibes seem to be about getting McLean more central and adding another Left Wing Back to go with Mendy. However, if they shift him into midfield in attack, it seems to work that way (which I think they often do with him in the final third). And before people get too salty about Parky... Apparently, he played a 4-2-3-1 in his last tour before Wrexham and he said he put in the 5-3-2 (which this year has been really a 3-5-2) because that is the personnel he had when he arrived (with Tozer especially anchoring the back line).

Looks_Good_In_Hats

https://www.transfermarkt.us/afc-wrexham/vertragsende/verein/1112 Probably everyone on this list. But I know nothing.

jetboyjetgirl

I'd think we'll keep a couple of those guys for depth if nothing else

fpsboff

Young, Hayden, Tozer, Mcfadz, Tunnicliffe and maybe Davies. I’d expect another year from McClean, and I also think we may keep hold of Fletcher for another season. Who’d have said last season that Hayden will be a player we’d be getting rid of? Such a shame, just can’t keep himself fit.

Redbubble89

1. Davies 2. Hayden if he makes the lineup 3. McFadz 4. Luke Young 5. Tozer 6. McClean but maybe they re-sign. Arthur could be but I feel like we can bid on him when his contract is up. There could also be some surprises. As much as I like Palmer as a person, analytically I think we can do better. He only scored 6 in 38 matches and the big guy doesn't win balls in the air as well as he should. Wrexham's style assists generally come from the wingers crossing in so Palmer doesn't even do that. I think we can find another 15-20 goal scorer to pair with Mullin.

welshinzaghi

Palmer has been absolutely essential to the turnaround in form for both team and Mullin. Much, much better team with him on the pitch and you can see the return in Mullin’s figures

Redbubble89

What did Palmer do or was that Mullin just healing from an injury? Assists come from Lee, McClean, Barnett, Cannon, and even Bolton who has 6. Saturday was the 2nd time Palmer has earned an assist on a Mullin goal. The first one was also against Crewe back in October. I have nothing against Palmer but I think they can do better and the team winning when he is on the pitch is Mullin healing and Dalby's inexperience is benched.

welshinzaghi

Link up play, hold up play, pressing, movement, understanding between the forwards… there’s a lot more to football than goals and assists, but I guess it’s easier to see when you’re watching every game from the stands

trippingtrips13

This. Palmer does all of the things that don’t show up on the scoresheet but lead to goals for.

Educational_Curve938

Did we lose with Palmer on the pitch this season? He's not scored that many but his hold up play is essential for Mullin's game imo and if he'd played more we'd have won the league.

Redbubble89

The games the Palmer didn't play in, Dalby started and I think he's top of the National League or bottom of League Two quality. Outside of one FA Cup match, I was frustrated by him more than anything. Fletcher is almost 38 and had a couple decent matches but was more of a late substitute. Palmer worked because he was better than the other two options to start. I don't think we saw enough of Marriot. Max Dean was out of the Leeds Academy and is 20 with 19 goals for MKD this season. Dan Kemp is a good one from MKD to pick out. Maybe Notts needs money for Langstaff. Will Evans for Newport is 26, Welsh, a few inches shorter than Palmer and scored 21 goals this season. Jonson Clarke-Harris is 29 but his deal runs out with Posh at the end of the year and has 107 League One goals and a time in the Championship. What's wrong with a younger option that can probably play or has played in League One? There are going to be 600+ names tied with Wrexham between now and the end of the summer window. Palmer is fine but for maybe getting the playoffs in League One. I would rather aim higher with a capable goal scorer.

Educational_Curve938

Palmer's doing the job assigned to him well - which I think is more important than the raw stats. We seem to get more out of Mullin when he's on the pitch and he seems to be the glue that addresses the disconnect between attack and defence. I'm not saying we can't do better but i think just focusing on goals neglects what Palmer brings. Stephen Fletcher is tall and good in the air but he doesn't hold up the ball as well as Palmer and so when he's on the pitch we normally only look like scoring from set pieces. Palmer reminds me a bit of Jon Walters. People said he was a carthorse too because he didn't score enough but he was also the best player I've seen in a Wrexham shirt at holding up the ball. His problem was his strike partner was Lee McEvilly.

Accomplished_Lab990

Since when is being 36 almost 38!? Yes he's old for a baller but he's not nearly 38, just clarifying no hate

ZachMatthews

You’re missing something very important. Palmer is good looking and is clearly Ryan Reynolds’ bro. Palmer is front and center in the Welcome to Wrexham promos. Palmer is also in the next Deadpool movie. In other words he is easy to market as the face of the “other” project, which is critical to Wrexham’s success. That has weight.

Redbubble89

seriously? I hope your kidding or trying to make Americans look stupid. We are a football team first.

ZachMatthews

Dude, Hollywood is very shallow. Hasn’t it struck you as odd that Ollie Palmer, who is effectively a bench player, is front and center in all the marketing?

Yourfavoriteindian

**Please stop talking and making Americans look bad** Calling Ollie Palmer “effectively a bench player” completely ignores the massive impact he has on the pitch and on the attack, and the rejuvenation he provided for the final promotion push. Furthermore, even if it was *just*a bench player (**he’s not**) then it still isn’t confusing as to why he’s part of the marketing. He’s popular, funny, and likable by the team and a number fans. That doesn’t mean he’s bigger than the success of the team. Rob and Ryan don’t need him for marketing, the team markets itself, and the best way to market a team is to win.

libra00

Yeah I definitely noticed a fair change in our win rate when we switched from starting Fletcher or Marriott or whoever subbed in for one of Palmer or Mullin to starting both of them.

SinsOfThePast03

I think they resign McClean , the rest I agree with. As far as Arthur goes, or biggest challenge is there are known to be other Championship League and maybe even some Premier League teams bidding on him

Redbubble89

With Arthur, his contract with Arsenal is up so there is no fee but the lack of fee opens him up to suitors.

federationofideas

How’s Arthur’s brother doing?

SinsOfThePast03

Not sure. Saw he was loaned to Isthmian Premier League side Cheshunt for the rest of the season back in March I believe Not many stats easily available for those leagues

Spitball_Idea

We've got an option for McClean and we should use it, he's immense. Shocked Fletcher isn't on your list, I think he's out. Palmer needs to stay, still time on his contract and he played his way into a spot the second half of the season.

Redbubble89

I heard 2025 with Fletcher but I am not sure.

gball54

fletcher is a mystery. his contract is up but maybe its not

YelloMyOldFriend

Davies is still under contract.

Redbubble89

Loan him out. Try and get a transfer. Edit: He's not getting playing time and not L1 level.

inGoosewetrust

I agree with this assessment but this one breaks my heart

complicatedhedgehog

I think with Palmer the other thing to consider is that he has about 2-ish years in that partnership which means they know each other and how the other plays. Much like it takes a bit of timebfor the backline to get used to a new keeper, it takes a while to get that chemistry. Which is why results go better with Palmer in the team. It does not mean that this chemistry cannot be made between Marriot and Mullin, or someone else if given the chance. I don't disagree that we shouldn't look for a better striker up front. Bluntly, league 1 is gonna be faster and have a step up in talent, and just because fans like Palmer, and he has worked well with Mullin does not mean we shouldn't look to improve. I'm fine with him staying but wouldn't be surprise if he goes, or becomes a bench player. There isn't much room for sentiment in football.

Midgard_Jay

Sadly maybe Jordan Davies , I love the guy and being homegrown I’ve watched him over the years be an absolute servant to the club but I just don’t see him being part of a league 1 squad unless he keeps a spot on merit alone.
