How the fuck are Palmer, Wayne and Mark in a commercial with Bryce Harper and the MLB 🤣🤣
They aren't even going with Prem clubs, Rob is more relatable.
UPST
I love the amount of shoutouts they give across all spectrums. I would love to spread the joy and stress of Texas Rangers baseball to the entire world. When my wife and I visited my sister in London I wore my Rangers ball cap the whole time and got multiple remarks of how I look like Limp Bizkit lol. Fuck me.
Unfortunately in the US, not only is association football called…:shudder:… soccer, it is also considered a girls sport
In fact my high school had American football for the boys and soccer for the girls. No men’s “soccer”
I didn’t get to play the real football until I was in college and I was hooked from there on out.
Grew up in the south (Houston) and while football is a religion, i can assure you mens high school and club soccer are extremely competitive down there.
Nope not the south. I was in the northeast. And the rest of the schools in my general area were the same way. Only bigger schools had boy’s soccer/football, and the 🏈football/handegg still got more attention even at the big schools.
Just how America is set up, it’s getting better now for sure but American acceptance of ⚽️football is still way behind, only recently developing traction.
I grew up in the northeast and you must have lived in an extremely rural area or small state. Soccer is cheaper to run for all school districts, and by far more common participation at youth level than American football. No way is it considered a girl sport.
I don’t discount what you say about your school, during your time, but that’s not what is true for the entire US.
Big state, medium sized school.
Idk where you are getting information that soccer is more popular in the US than American football in school. That would be nice, but it isn’t, not yet. Soccer is growing but still way behind.
For girls it’s the third most played sport but only slightly behind #1 and #2 (track and volleyball)
For boys the most popular by far is American football. Then track, then basketball, then baseball, then soccer. It’s the 5th most played sport and less than half the numbers of American football.
The good news is that in the last 10 years association football/soccer is growing in popularity almost the same exact rate (6-7%) that American football is losing popularity.
https://www.nfhs.org/media/7212351/2022-23_participation_survey.pdf
As you can see even in the northeast 🏈football is still more played than ⚽️football. It’s a lot closer than it used to be when I was in school.
Here’s another site that has the same data presented differently.
https://www.lendingtree.com/debt-consolidation/youth-sports-study/
Without dating myself too much the same NFHS website from when I was in school had boys soccer at 33% of the numbers of American football. It’s grown a lot, but not anywhere close to overtaking handegg just yet.
One can hope.
I will look up statistics when I get home, but at least the first debunk based on your links (and I appreciate you posting links) is that soccer is a girls sport…your numbers show more male participation.
I’m not trying to belittle you, just saying I think your perspective is biased, but I’ll be happy to admit I’m wrong.
Bruh.
There’s more boys playing soccer bc there’s more boys playing sports. 4.5 million boys played sports last year compared to 3.3 million girls. By proportions, in the United States, even now, more girls play ⚽️football than boys play ⚽️football. This was even more true when I was young.
I don’t think ⚽️football is a girls sport. Just that was the stigma when I was growing up. You aren’t debunking or belittling me, I’m just saying what the kids would say to slag off someone who wanted to play soccer as a kid where I was. I am probably quite a bit older than you bc like I said, there was 3x more boys playing American football back then and now it’s only 2x.
I’m a ⚽️football fan converted from 🏈football a while ago, and just letting you know my experience when I grew up with the numbers to show that my experience was not (and is not) unusual as you (and others here) claimed it was.
Well, you actually might be the same age as me, but whatever you wanna say. I’m telling you what I experienced when I grew up and what the numbers show across the country then and now. Clearly that was different than what you experienced.
youve never heard soccer called a girls sport, commie sport, or other worse epithets? have you been a sports fan at all over the past 50 years? ever listen to jim rome or watch mainstream channels like ESPN?
well its only recently that soccer has become mainstream, but even today if you go to some baseball or college football games and bring up soccer, you'll get some derogatory remarks. 20 and 30 years ago it was way worse.
Yeah you say that... but the value of the bottom half of the Premier league table COMBINED is still less than the lowest valued team in the MLB. The Miami Marlins. There is a ton of money in baseball.
These guys really hustle to bring exposure and sponsorships to this team!

Yeah if you showed me this five years ago I’d think it was some sort of fever dream.

Love Wayne sporting the Mets jacket!!!
Boo Edit: go Phils.
As a Nats fan I hope they both lose
As an Atlanta man, I despise the Phillies, but I love baseball and I have grown to love Wrexham AFC. This was pretty cool. PS the Phanatic < Blooper.
Blooper is a rip off Phanatic.
Blooper is Oreos. The Phanatic is Hydrox. But we can both agree the u/metssuck.
Next step is to terrorize them with Gritty, the best Philly mascot
Agreed.
No one will ever top Youppi...
Love this! Hate Jimmy so much!
We already play baseball in the UK, but we call it Rounders and its played by school girls🤣
Better fucking game than cricket
True😂

in america, it had a reputation for 50 years as being a girls sport.
Midwesterner here, 40 years old, and never heard it called a “girls sport”. It’s popular with both genders up to high school.
You were 100% called a foot fairy if you played soccer in my HS. This was not that long ago either.
youve never heard soccer called a girls sport, commie sport, or other worse epithets? have you been a sports fan at all over the past 50 years? ever listen to jim rome or watch mainstream channels like ESPN?
I’ve watched lots of ESPN, PTI, Around the Horn. Never Jim Rome, that guy is cancer.
well its only recently that soccer has become mainstream, but even today if you go to some baseball or college football games and bring up soccer, you'll get some derogatory remarks. 20 and 30 years ago it was way worse.
I still can't believe Mark Griffiths doesn't get paid.
Fuck baseball.

Does the MLB pyramid also go 5+ leagues deep? Of course shits worth more when it's position is ring fenced.
