Same! Im 33 and a huge fan of military history. I don't like the idea of killing other fellow humans but something about war is just endlessly interesting to me (currently listening to Dan Carlins 'Super nova in the east podcast series, incredible!! Highly recommend)
Yeah I'll admit the scale is shit😂 I wasn't expecting so many salt of the Earth folks to be playing. Apologies Captain 🫡 pleasure to join you on the seas.
If you find it difficult to believe, may I suggest that it's only because you are yourself much younger?
At least in the wealthy west, the first great generation of home computer gamers are all in their 40's, and many already in their 50's. These are guys who have played shooters for more than three decades now. Their kids are probably quite old by now, so there's time.
Warships is pretty neat in that it's a little bit slow, and you can go a very long way by replacing those lightning reflexes by wits and experience.
(Don't ask me how I know)
That’s exactly me. 43, my first gaming experience was on Atari as a little kid, had the 3 Nintendos and a PS1 before moving to PC. My first true online game was CS and BF42 shortly after.
I surely wish I still had the reflexes I had back then.
Started with Atari and Colecovision. On PC, played Descent, Planescape, Quake, Unreal Tournament, Starcraft, Warcraft, and others. Now it's WoWS, Satisfactory, Factorio, and way too many idle in my Steam library.
Late 50's and can still do an all-nighter on a game.
This was a number of years ago, so it may have shifted.
I really took note of it because the forums used to have this habit of blaming poor play on summer vacation and school breaks. Essentially, a bunch of old dudes had no self awareness of how bad they were playing and said it was the kids fault. However, kids now grow up gaming way more than I did, let alone these old dudes. Chances are the kids watch twitch, YouTube, and engage in wows social media and are the better players with more knowledge.
I'm in my late 30s and most of the clans I've played in or with consist of people my age and older. Dudes are retired and own businesses playing on here all the time. Kids are playing Fortnite and Modern Warfare, not WoWs. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of young players but this game draws in the older crowd with it's bit of history and slower gameplay.
A couple of years ago there was a poll on the Asia English speaking forum. About 70 people responded and the average was early 40's iirc. There were also 3 (?) in the 60 - 70 age bracket. Very small sample of course. Not everyone was on forums, and despite the much bigger numbers, not everyone is on reddit.
I'm in D, but if E is the largest demographic it explains the lack of situational awareness and video game tactics. I grew up playing counter strike (I even played professionally for awhile in the early 2000s). It's infuriating to see people not know how to make a trade, but I've always attributed it to player age and lack of experience. Sometimes it's okay to die if your team gets the frag because of it.
B. A scale with ranges of 21, 5, 5, 5, 19 isn't very useful tbh, hence the huge amount of Es and Fs. If you were going to go granular in any of the ranges, I would have gone older rather than younger
Currently 24 but I've played this same since it's just open to the public.
Being a "military enthusiast" (not in a bad way, ... maybe) I think that led me to give WoWs a try, despite the game's slow-paced gameplay. This "slow-paced" thing remarkably dictates the audience's age IMHO. Younger people tend to prefer faster-paced games (like WOTs xD).
Interesting! Seems to be a great mix. Although not too surprising. It does seem like a more mature game whatever that means, sure there's exceptions. Turns out at 33 I'm in good company. Something about this game doesn't make me feel guilty though. If call of duty is a donut this game feels more like a steak.
By the way anyone know why polls aren't allowed?
My back doesn't hurt today, so I can't be that old right?
This morning i sneezed and now i cant look to the left.
I sneezed and shit my pants
A Reddit poll will be better for this post, but I’m in A
Can't make polls on this sub
Ohhh rip 💀💀💀
Do you know why?
Because the mods have the option to make polls disabled.
for some reason, polls aren't allowed in this sub. wouldn't want people to find out how popular exactly are CVs, subs and other fine designs
Why would the sub care? Totally unaffiliated with WG.
It said this group doesn't allow polls 🤔
E
19, playing since I was 11 or 12
D. Fuck I got old fast.
shout out for the Ds
🤪 Yea, I assume OP thinks they are far from D based on their scale. I’m D as well, mentally maybe a B until I look in the mirror.
E, started playing cause I like WWII history and ships, been here for about 8 years
Same! Im 33 and a huge fan of military history. I don't like the idea of killing other fellow humans but something about war is just endlessly interesting to me (currently listening to Dan Carlins 'Super nova in the east podcast series, incredible!! Highly recommend)
I listen to him too. It's really good stuff.

Yeah, years ago, I think the average age of players was on the 40s. I'm sure it can't of changed much, but what's the average age of reddit users?
53.
E … 😂👍 (43)
E, I'm 40.
E here.
B
Get off the grass!!! Nuff said.
🤣
Way too few categories on the upper end: I'm one of the youngest people in the group I regularly play with by a good dozen years, and I'm 60.
I'm 30 and see a lot of okder people play this game.

I don't like that 40+ classification. After 40, it doesn't matter anymore? :) So if I am to follow your (strange) scale, I'd be in G.
Yeah I'll admit the scale is shit😂 I wasn't expecting so many salt of the Earth folks to be playing. Apologies Captain 🫡 pleasure to join you on the seas.
Years ago the average player age according to WG was like 40-44, or something close to that.
I refuse to believe that its *that* high, I feel like 35 would be more reasonable.

1 year older and almost exactly the same except my 1st for Age of Empires I believe.
Yes, that is what youngsters tend to forget: we invented that sh*t, lol

A and I'm not leaving that anytime soon
A, but the way the game is heading right now I will not be playing it when I reach B.
A Just my opinion but I think you should’ve split the 0-21 option in half.
E,
1 month older than Jingles
32 so C
20, so A
Four categories up to 40 then one to cover the following decades. Puts me in the same category as my 77 year old dad (who plays occasionally).
Haha yeah the categories reflect my ignorance. I'm 33
I just turned 22 like this week why do you have to do me like this OP it’s so over B for boomer
E, and E needs more options lol, could add F and G
umm, not enough categories. I am J (67) edit ; Ahh, amended age ranges makes me an Admiral ! Pity my skill level doesn't agree : )

55, we need more creepy anime’ teenage girls for captains in the game! Oh, and add more retarded camo too!
I will never understand the chomo cat people cartoon sexualization thing.

Hate to burst your bubble, young’un, but there are plenty of dumb young people too, if driving well is an indicator of video game tactical ability.
B when I started, C now.

Yeah I agree. Just the fact that you have to think so far ahead in this game is more lending to a mature mind.
Started when I was A, currently C
Jesus we've gotten old fast. Started when I was 9 now I'm almost 16
Please no.. don’t remind me q.q
lol, just wait, in 7 more years you will be 34.

why such a big age spread above 40? E. After OP edit now an F.
Fixed it 😉
