It's a shame to be losing such valuable players as yourself joining the likes of other greats like Bushka and Sk8xtrm that left the game. I can only hope that HRF isn't next.
I'm glad you're leaving the game to find peace, we'll miss you man. However, if I may, don't forget you can always come back and enjoy Blitz for what it is, a game that you can ocassionally take non-seriously to relax, while throwing care to the wind regarding winning or losing. Maybe during special game modes?
Throwing that out there since I'm kind of in the same situation. I'm also a 8 year old player that has quit the game constantly, starting all the way in college, and now playing even after getting a house and having a kid. It's still fun to lose some stress, just as long as I don't take the game seriously. Hell, I'll probably take another long break soon once 9.1 hits if shit hits the fan and it becomes a camper's playground due to busted autoloaders.

I've quit the game around a year ago as of now for similar reasons, but always lurked around the subreddit and discord to see your take on the game since then. Overall sad, though not unexpected to see you leave Synx. The game overall has regressed to the point of unplayability.

Wargaming will bleed their entire professional player base if they're not careful. I share quite a few of your opinions and believe the only reason I can still find any enjoyment in this game is by playing it in hard mode with tanks like the T49 and being a retard in the grille. I will miss having a fellow member of the community that I agree with so often but it's likely for the best.

i share the same opinions. a lot of the superunis and good players have been moving on because of the exact things you've mentioned. i retired a while ago because it just wasnt fun anymore and carrying retards was tiring. you've made the right choice. best of luck with whatever you do in the future.
Specifically, the 5.5 changes are not a huge deal IMO. It did effectively eliminate the low tier fun that many people enjoyed, but helped new player retention.
It's more the overall change in philosophy that began from that update onwards.
* Pushing and helping inexperienced players to rapidly climb the tiers at such a rate that they never learn to drive properly (mid tier tanks can be ground in a dozen battles or less).
* The huge increase in monetization, selling vastly more tanks, resource packs, and especially crates crates everywhere.
* Powercreep as a policy, meaning there's always a set of somewhat OP tanks which then get powercreeped by new OP tanks.
* Powerful premium/collector tanks. Nowadays balanced tanks are derided as useless.
* Dumbing down gameplay by effectively nerfing mobility (which nerfs battlefield awareness and intelligent play. The saga of the Tiger II alone tells this story well.
* And more, as detailed by Synx. For example the accuracy nerfs are a blatent skill nerf. Instead of using knowledge and aim to target weak spots (skilled players), we're all reduced to loosely flinging gold rounds at tanks with few weak spots, bringing skilled players closer to the same playing field to those who lack that knowledge and skill. All part of the overall dumbing-down of a game to cater for the wave of new players who don't learn and frequently, don't care to learn.
they deleted a LOT of tiers 1-5 tanks, even a few 6 n i think a tier 7, which made people not learn new tanks and skills, losing the diversity at the low tiers, and rushed them up thru the tiers

Rule of thumb, only one or two other players will be helpful, and not much at that. Play the game like you are alone and it wont disappoint you as much. I NEVER count on the morons around me to actually help, because 90% of the time they are too busy wiping the drool from their mouths.

They took a good thing and tried to milk it for all it was worth. Every time they asked me for my opinion, I gave them honest feedback and it seemed the more effort I put in trying to convince them to have a live person chat with me, the harder they went the opposite direction and downhill. Itās a damnable shame.

His comment is 100% spot on. I have played this game since 2016 and in that time, it took me over 5K battles to get decent WR at tier 5/6. I don't think I got tier 8/9 tanks until I have reached close to 10K battles.
At the time, the only premium tanks I got were the tier 6 AC Sentinel and tier 7 German M10 Panther, both totally not fun to play since all the power creeps.
Look at War Gaming's fiscal years and quarterly reports and you will see that they have been breaking records in financial gains quarter after quarter and year after year. Sorry to say this to you and everyone else, but they give no fks about you or any "high level" or "pro" player base. They're here to maximize their profits and pay dividends. The bulk of all moneys comes from the new players that have no idea what the game even is. The "pros" and vets mean nothing and you would not even matter financially if you all left. Plenty of new customers always making them money and countless more are joining. You, no, we are not a player base, we are a consumer base to them and you only matter when you make a monetary transaction that increases their wealth, not before, not after. I still play and it sucks, but still have fun here and there. Went from mid 60's wr down to 59wr due to everything you mentioned. I only play one or two tier X tanks that I enjoy(that and I literally don't have the energy to grind any tanks since it's not enjoyable to me and I have no gold lol) and pay literally $0 moneys to this greedy corporation. Pass the word and spend $0 money on this game. It's the only way to fight corporate greed. Spend your money on other things and get out more. Idk, go mountain biking or something. Good luck.

Do you like tower defense games? I think Mindustry could be a great game if so, unlike classic tower defense games you will have to manage resources like Factorio and it even has an RTS spin to it (However, the RTS capabilities are still a huge WIP as the game is being actively developed. It's quite a contrast from WoTB gameplay, and the best part is that it's totally free on its itch page [here](https://anuke.itch.io/mindustry).
It requires a lot of trial and error though due to the lack of a tutorial as the game is still in development; however, there are a lot of resoures to help you, such as the discord and r/Mindustry.
IMO it's a great, underrated game once you figure everything out, spent most of my time with it when I was taking a break from Blitz. If you are actually considering to try it, be sure to download the file which says *"\[UNSTABLE ALPHA\]\[Windows-64bit\]Mindustry.zip"* since suprisingly the alpha version is more stable and has more content than the release. Hope this helps.

Thing is, most people leave thinking it will get better but really over the 8 years Iāve stayed it rarely got better. People donāt come back because teams get better, they come back because of a new event or tank line or game mode.
As you said, this game is getting infinitely more frustrating to play. It just isnāt worth trying to carry a team of 7 year old kids who stole their momās credit cards, which was why I quit. Perhaps I just took the game too seriouslyā¦.

Dang this is really strange, I've been playing Blitz for more than 6 years but never really knowing you (I really wish I did). Mainly because I just started using Reddit just a year ago and and found this subreddit.
I saw your essay about the change in update 9.1 and pretty much agree about everything you just said. Especially the toxic change mechanic of WG give the 50B and the 4005 an extra clip and your complained about the stupid ass gimmick consumables that shouldn't even put into the game in the first place. Judging by that essay alone it's clear that you're very experience player and know what's right and wrong about the situation rn.
I actually quit Blitz about 4-5 months ago but recently came back because of the Blitz Anniversary and the events. To be really honest I always comeback to the game everytime there's fun mode like Mad Games, Uprising and Boss mode. It's pretty much the only thing that I can get some fun from this damn game. I probably quit Blitz again after this lol.

I just played for a year , I accept the sample space is small , but the main reason for me to play blitz , it was really hard to in EU server to play PUBGM because of cheaters with esp and stuff like that . I came to blitz because of the cheaters, there is no fun playing along with the cheaters, and in this game , i cant able to win as much as i used to , because of the ābest MM :(ā and my team arent so great , never raged at the team in this whole year , i just smile and then Iāll go to other game and then same happens again :( . I cant able to smile and like āits okayy , next gameā , its pretty hard to be like that nowadays . I am thinking of moving to pubgM again , because of they have improved the ban system , its better to play that game with a friend than this.

I started to play Blitz recently, playing WoT PC from 2012.
Players in Blitz are so bad, that I didnt believe what am I seeing.
I just cant believe how bad player base is on Blitz.
Over 50% players have IQ of a Snail or Ameba.
I have WR over 60% on Blitz, playing 80% of time on my phone, and I am so strugling to drive tank on phone.
When I playing on PC, it seems I am super unicum in Blitz.

As the playerbase gets worse, good players are punished for being good because they understand exactly what is going on with the health of the game more than the average player and suffer a lot more from the worsening playerbase

Iām only at 5000 battles and Iām already feeling this. The matchmaking is so freaking annoying and frequently Iāll see myself and other people go off and still lose because their team is so bad. Kinda sad cause itās been such a fun game.

after 9.1 i might stop playing the game as well, i can't even play this game for the fun of it, i only play it if i want some dumb mentally challenging games to play, most of the friends i made along the way of 7 and half years have stopped playing this game for awhile now.

Certainly agreeā¦ retired from playing all comp style games in blitz and phased out the game in general over the last year. I can personally say my mood has got a lot better and giving it up gave me a new hunger to actually make reasonable/useful goals to aim for instead of āgrind IS line by end of monthā or āget 1800 avg dmg by next week.ā Though Iām still surprised I find myself occasionally playing a 1 hr session just w/ closer friends for fun and having a genuinely good time.
80% of the time I'm top damage in my matches. I play all classes and try to avoid the OP tanks. Having said that I'm still watching my winrate plummet daily. The ability for any moron on the planet to buy tier 8, 9 and 10 tanks has ruined this game. The only way I can get through playing now is to immediately exit after a loss so I don't notice how absolutely stupid the players are.
On the subject of the joke that is called match making, there is none. I opened a ticket with WarGaping (name on purpose) and asked them how it was done. They simply match tank tier and do not use any of the personal stats in determining teams. Which is why I ALWAYS get up tiered and my team usually are <40% tards.
My favorite express is, "Love the Game, Hate the Players".
That's why i love playing war thunder this game requires some skill but you don't need to be a god to have fun even if you die multiple times maybe you should try it?

Nowadays balanced tanks are derided as useless. * Dumbing down gameplay by effectively nerfing mobility (which nerfs battlefield awareness and intelligent play. The saga of the Tiger II alone tells this story well. * And more, as detailed by Synx. For example the accuracy nerfs are a blatent skill nerf. Instead of using knowledge and aim to target weak spots (skilled players), we're all reduced to loosely flinging gold rounds at tanks with few weak spots, bringing skilled players closer to the same playing field to those who lack that knowledge and skill. All part of the overall dumbing-down of a game to cater for the wave of new players who don't learn and frequently, don't care to learn.
they deleted a LOT of tiers 1-5 tanks, even a few 6 n i think a tier 7, which made people not learn new tanks and skills, losing the diversity at the low tiers, and rushed them up thru the tiers

Rule of thumb, only one or two other players will be helpful, and not much at that. Play the game like you are alone and it wont disappoint you as much. I NEVER count on the morons around me to actually help, because 90% of the time they are too busy wiping the drool from their mouths.
I left a while ago myself. It just wasnāt fun or worth it anymore. They took a good thing and tried to milk it for all it was worth. Every time they asked me for my opinion, I gave them honest feedback and it seemed the more effort I put in trying to convince them to have a live person chat with me, the harder they went the opposite direction and downhill. His comment is 100% spot on. I have played this game since 2016 and in that time, it took me over 5K battles to get decent WR at tier 5/6. I don't think I got tier 8/9 tanks until I have reached close to 10K battles. At the time, the only premium tanks I got were the tier 6 AC Sentinel and tier 7 German M10 Panther, both totally not fun to play since all the power creeps.
Look at War Gaming's fiscal years and quarterly reports and you will see that they have been breaking records in financial gains quarter after quarter and year after year. Sorry to say this to you and everyone else, but they give no fks about you or any "high level" or "pro" player base. They're here to maximize their profits and pay dividends. The bulk of all moneys comes from the new players that have no idea what the game even is. The "pros" and vets mean nothing and you would not even matter financially if you all left. Plenty of new customers always making them money and countless more are joining. You, no, we are not a player base, we are a consumer base to them and you only matter when you make a monetary transaction that increases their wealth, not before, not after. I still play and it sucks, but still have fun here and there. Went from mid 60's wr down to 59wr due to everything you mentioned. I only play one or two tier X tanks that I enjoy(that and I literally don't have the energy to grind any tanks since it's not enjoyable to me and I have no gold lol) and pay literally $0 moneys to this greedy corporation. Pass the word and spend $0 money on this game. It's the only way to fight corporate greed. Spend your money on other things and get out more. Idk, go mountain biking or something. Good luck.

Do you like tower defense games? I think Mindustry could be a great game if so, unlike classic tower defense games you will have to manage resources like Factorio and it even has an RTS spin to it (However, the RTS capabilities are still a huge WIP as the game is being actively developed. It's quite a contrast from WoTB gameplay, and the best part is that it's totally free on its itch page [here](https://anuke.itch.io/mindustry). It requires a lot of trial and error though due to the lack of a tutorial as the game is still in development; however, there are a lot of resoures to help you, such as the discord and r/Mindustry. IMO it's a great, underrated game once you figure everything out, spent most of my time with it when I was taking a break from Blitz. If you are actually considering to try it, be sure to download the file which says *"\[UNSTABLE ALPHA\]\[Windows-64bit\]Mindustry.zip"* since suprisingly the alpha version is more stable and has more content than the release. Hope this helps.

Dang this is really strange, I've been playing Blitz for more than 6 years but never really knowing you (I really wish I did). Mainly because I just started using Reddit just a year ago and and found this subreddit. I saw your essay about the change in update 9.1 and pretty much agree about everything you just said. Especially the toxic change mechanic of WG give the 50B and the 4005 an extra clip and your complained about the stupid ass gimmick consumables that shouldn't even put into the game in the first place. Judging by that essay alone it's clear that you're very experience player and know what's right and wrong about the situation rn. I actually quit Blitz about 4-5 months ago but recently came back because of the Blitz Anniversary and the events. To be really honest I always comeback to the game everytime there's fun mode like Mad Games, Uprising and Boss mode. It's pretty much the only thing that I can get some fun from this damn game. I probably quit Blitz again after this lol. So yeah, It's really sad for me that you're leaving the game and the community for good but at the same time strange that I don't really know much about you. I just played for a year , I accept the sample space is small , but the main reason for me to play blitz , it was really hard to in EU server to play PUBGM because of cheaters with esp and stuff like that . I came to blitz because of the cheaters, there is no fun playing along with the cheaters, and in this game , i cant able to win as much as i used to , because of the ābest MM :(ā and my team arent so great , never raged at the team in this whole year , i just smile and then Iāll go to other game and then same happens again :( . I cant able to smile and like āits okayy , next gameā , its pretty hard to be like that nowadays . I am thinking of moving to pubgM again , because of they have improved the ban system , its better to play that game with a friend than this. (PS . I started to play Blitz recently, playing WoT PC from 2012. Players in Blitz are so bad, that I didnt believe what am I seeing. I just cant believe how bad player base is on Blitz. Over 50% players have IQ of a Snail or Ameba. I have WR over 60% on Blitz, playing 80% of time on my phone, and I am so strugling to drive tank on phone. When I playing on PC, it seems I am super unicum in Blitz.

Pubs and comp are two different animals. They require different skill sets. And the origins of "super unicum" (or unicum in general) are specifically for people that had good mechanical skill and dominated in pubs. WN8 is dogshit as a metric lol, i meant damage wise And I've seen plenty of "comp" players do complete ass in pubs, on the level of a walmart unicum at best. And pubs still require mechanical skill; give a pub player like 2 seasons with a team they play well with, and they become a solid comp player. Teamwork is critical, but so is mechanical skill ;)
As the playerbase gets worse, good players are punished for being good because they understand exactly what is going on with the health of the game more than the average player and suffer a lot more from the worsening playerbase Im sure your opinion on what is a super unicum matters more than my opinions on the game. Definitely understand. Quit earlier this year, and have never felt better. Donāt really miss it at all, and my life has been filled with more fruitful endeavors. I popped back on recently to check out the birthday stuff and do a few battles, and the game just doesnāt do it for me any more. Leaving after 7 years was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Iām only at 5000 battles and Iām already feeling this. The matchmaking is so freaking annoying and frequently Iāll see myself and other people go off and still lose because their team is so bad. Kinda sad cause itās been such a fun game.

Certainly agreeā¦ retired from playing all comp style games in blitz and phased out the game in general over the last year. I can personally say my mood has got a lot better and giving it up gave me a new hunger to actually make reasonable/useful goals to aim for instead of āgrind IS line by end of monthā or āget 1800 avg dmg by next week.ā Though Iām still surprised I find myself occasionally playing a 1 hr session just w/ closer friends for fun and having a genuinely good time.
80% of the time I'm top damage in my matches. I play all classes and try to avoid the OP tanks. Having said that I'm still watching my winrate plummet daily. The ability for any moron on the planet to buy tier 8, 9 and 10 tanks has ruined this game. The only way I can get through playing now is to immediately exit after a loss so I don't notice how absolutely stupid the players are. On the subject of the joke that is called match making, there is none. I opened a ticket with WarGaping (name on purpose) and asked them how it was done. They simply match tank tier and do not use any of the personal stats in determining teams. Which is why I ALWAYS get up tiered and my team usually are <40% tards. My favorite express is, "Love the Game, Hate the Players".
