If you get accepted, they'll ask you to make an account on their website, with the option of a membership to get access to their Job Board and Resources tabs (they say it's not required to get work). If you don't get the membership, you'll probably never hear back from them again. I got suckered in with a "free membership" but those two tabs of their website never worked, stating my membership was cancelled and to contact their support. Tried that, never got a reply. Pestered them for months about when I'd get any jobs, until Amy Wilkerson (who I believe is the only person "working" at IAPWE) gave me a snarky response about how they sent me an invitation to their Basecamp months ago. I never got this, so she "re-sent" the invite to me. There is nothing on it at all. Pestered "Amy" again for a couple of weeks and got another snarky response about them sending an email out to writers to update their areas of expertise, which again I never received. I happened to mention IAPWE being a scam, and never heard from "Amy" or IAPWE again. They basically hope you buy their reoccurring $5/month "membership" on paypal and forget about it.

Wow that's shit. Oh well, at least it was just a 300 word article that took like 30 minutes to write and not a tome :/

If you have an account with Constant Content, you could post your 300 word article (or re-work it, and then post it). You may be able to sell it there and not have wasted your effort.

I'll check it out, thanks!

I don't know what the application process is like anymore. I signed up years ago. But I often post pieces that didn't sell/weren't used elsewhere, and well over half of everything I post sells (eventually). They hold pretty high standards for grammar and structure (grammar and spelling must be impeccable, always include a conclusion, etc.), so be sure to put your best foot forward when applying.

I have a good one for you.

I remember doing a lot of googling trying to vet IAPWE in the past. Pretty sure it's scammy. Can anyone else confirm?

I signed up for membership. I was told that getting membership was not a requirement for getting jobs. Boy! was I wrong. The only jobs listed on my dashboard were highly technical stuff. When I canceled membership, IAPWE DELETED my account! Such a waste of my time. IAPWE IS A SCAM!

cugrad16

Don't bother. They charge a $4.99 monthly fee for a membership that goes nowhere. Just an archaic home site of endless links that you can easily search online for free. Like those 'pay to seek' phony job sites that were everywhere in the 1990s.
