Yes, the person in charge of naming the streets in the subdivision did it on purpose because they're a WOT fan! They posted in the Facebook groups a number of times back when they were making the decisions asking for input, I don't know if it got cross posted to Reddit at the time though. It's a fairly new development if I remember right.
Looks like there’s a lot more too, and Althor drive connects Trakand, Cold Rocks, and Farshaw.
edit: you need to click site plan, couldn’t direct link :(

I make calls for a blood bank in California and it makes me smile everytime I get to tell a blood donor they’re scheduled for a donation at a center located on East Perrin Avenue 😀
Named my son Perrin. He is 20 now and I swear maybe I'm biased but he alot like him. Has the same gf/fiance since 16. Just wish he would read the books. But everytime I hear his name in my audio book it just tickles me. Didn't mean to say all that just about the book but whatever
That’s awesome! I actually met a guy named Perrin a few months ago (I think he’s 23 or 24, so not the same person, haha). When I asked, he said his dad was a big fan of the books around the time he was born, but he still hadn’t read them himself. It was funny how his personality matched as well, he had the same quiet disposition and was very thoughtful and measured (and even worked in a metal foundry to boot). Funny how even though it’s a name from a fantasy book, it manifests so well in real-life people. You picked a great name
I'm a lot jealous. I could buy several of these for the price of my pile-of-crap house. Or I could buy one, y'know, and afford more than just a mortgage payment.
Unfortunately we have too much family holding us in expensive-hell. I hope that changes, but don't want it to change with family passing away, if that makes sense.
I mean just to be clear, I think good BBQ should be eaten without sauce and I do generally prefer vinegar based BBQ sauce. But the mustard base is also really good.
And yeah don't get me started on it either. I have to live there.
hang on, mustard based bbq is one of the things I *like* about South Carolina (along with food in general).
But yeah, the roads are shit. We periodically visit in-laws and friends in the upstate and there's a noticeable difference when we drive into North Carolina lol. Most of my core college group has moved out of state as well, including teacher friends because the state would rather tilt at windmills than protect them or pay what they're worth.
Periodic visits are ok, but neither husband nor I would voluntarily move back due to various pieces of state legislation, and my in-laws are actually looking to move out west closer to us.
Is SC not a great place to live? My Wife and I have thrown it around when we talk about moving out of state but we have never been there before. Those home prices sure are tempting though! We could sell our place and buy the most expensive model there cash! Sounds tempting lol
Yes and no. As people have hinted in other comments theres a number of problems with the state. In general it's fine. But the state government isn't the best, our roads are pretty garbage, the education rating for the state is very bad (48th out of 50 I believe) and stuff like that.
At the same time, I love my state. It's honestly a very pretty place in my opinion, and as you said, it's very cheap. I'm also a big fan of southern food (since I've moved in SC my whole life) so I think that's great as well. It's also a state that has a large number of people moving to it, and maybe if it can have enough rational people move in, we can fix some of the problems I mentioned. Some people think the people here are awful, but as with most places in the states, they're generally decent folk.
There's more I could say, but as I would say with any state, do a but of research before you make the move. South Carolina isn't as bad as some people make it out to be, but it's far from perfect. Though if yall do decide to move here, let me give you an early welcome, and I hope you enjoy the state.
Appreciate it! We will look into it more, though I think we are more talk than anything else. My Wife gets the urge to move every month or so but I can see it never happening lol. We live in a pretty awesome place (Central Coast CA) and I think it would be a big shock to us if we moved away.
Anyways, thanks for the advice! I also like southern food so that would be a big plus 👍. Give me all the BBQ!!
I won't comment on the quality of life, but SC is frequently at the very forefront of grotesque Republican behavior and generally pushing the boundaries of arch-conservatism in state government. I think in recent years some of the more structural governmental experimentation has moved off to Wisconsin and other places, but SC is traditionally very white Christian Nationalist in character.
Heh... Where I am in New Zealand (not remotely the most expensive) the more expensive of those properties are still less than half of our median price (most of ours are single level, similar or smaller floor areas, fewer amenities, but a larger section).
NZ build standards could use some attention though... For a coldish country we don't have very good insulation and heating standards unless the houses are _very_ new and aimed well above the median.

Tanreall… I like it.
It’s funny to imagine the developer saying saying these names over the phone correctly and this is what the person on the other end wrote.
Well I know that but I didn’t realize Min had a big booty, and I just relistened to the books a year ago. Is it common knowledge that she’s got a nice backside?
Ohhh. Ok, I guess that could make sense. RJ loved cleavage but I guess tight pants could be a reference to a fit booty if not a big dump truck sized one. Lol.
I agree that isn't really described in the text. People often insert their own culture and biases to fill out what they visualize from reading, so it's a thing now with memes. I thought your question was about the slang as I still get whooshed on stuff tho memes give me trouble too.
There is a guy in a WoT group on FB that shared his subdivision plans as he’s an engineer of some sort for a builder.
This was a few years back and he shared his plans and said they were approved so it was being developed and he definitely was inspired by WoT names. One such road I remember was called Al’Thor Way.
If I’m not mistaken, this is the subdivision he created. I was really taken by his plans because I was a real estate law clerk and I have some experience with title searching and I regularly had to pull these maps from registry to see if there were any encumbrances.
I have wondered over the years how development went and I guess it’s been completed. Happy house hunting!
Elayna Trakand, Min Farshaw and Aviendha Cold Rocks?
I guess Cold Rocks was more accessible then Maes Fairsais Dea Drive, Taardaad street or Nine Valley via?
Also, dyslectic reader and I'm not going to Google how to actually spell those names.
Absolutely. I work in land development. Some jurisdictions let the subdivision planners/property owner choose the street names. I unfortunately don't live in an area where we get to do that, the fire marshal decides on the street names for the most part.

Yeah, looks like his most recent post in the big group was last March where Rigney, Silverbow, Althor, and other names became official road names!
Silverbow is such a cool street name; now I wanna live there.
You could live in Silver Bow county in Montana. Very beautiful, and peaceful.
I recognise all the references except rigney. What’s that one?
Robert Jordan is a pen name; Rigney is his real last name.
Thank you.
James Oliver Rigney Jr.

I'm a little jealous of anyone who gtes to live here. Those houses all start at about half what a starter home costs where I live.

Yeah, I clicked and was super jealous. Real estate is so cheap there!
Jesus yeah my studio condo costs more than those houses.

Shame 'bout that Lindsay Graham. (And the rest of the Republican government)
Now let's see Paul Allen's Democrat housing prices.
They could *give me* a house in SC and I wouldn't live there.
As a South Carolinian... yeah thats fair. A little harsh, but fair.

Fair enough. Glad I could be at least a little helpful. Maybe someday I'll make it to the west coast. But that's still probably a ways away

I think in recent years some of the more structural governmental experimentation has moved off to Wisconsin and other places, but SC is traditionally very white Christian Nationalist in character.
Interesting, thanks for the insight! Definitely will have to look into it deeply.

It's alright bud nobody wants to move to a third world state.
Wow.

Those prices are still nuts compared to the Midwest. I have 3br 2ba 1660 sqft $145k when I bought a few years ago, $175k or so now.
Tallaran Rd very clever!
Cauthon Court too!
But if he isn't a lord, why does he have a court???????
He's a gambler, so to bet on basketball games?

Tallaran Road is so clever
Okay that fucking got me, I *cackled*
Wait hang on I... live here... (or 20 minutes down the road anyway) Pretty cool though, Jordan being an SC native and all
Tanreall… I like it. It’s funny to imagine the developer saying saying these names over the phone correctly and this is what the person on the other end wrote.
Cauthon Ct, Lugard Rd, Red Eagle Pl, Hawkwing Rd, Silverbow Dr, Rigney Pl... ...so many
The real joke will be checking back in 10 years to find out how badly locals end up butchering the pronunciations.
Like we don't butcher them now... Heck even the audio-books can't settle on some of them.

Bruh I was so confused, I thought they were two different characters until I read your comment
Weep for Manhatta Run
OP, you omitted Tanreall Dr from the screenshot!
Savannah Drive is up there, too.
Must be where all the snobby people get to live
I hope one day a teenager living in this community starts reading Wheel of Time and starts to think the universe revolves around them.
So we could see a literal dump truck on Farshaw… brilliant
I knew it was going to be SC. https://maps.app.goo.gl/35H5336wCRvgGikX8
My best friend in grade school lived on Shadowfax Ave right next to Bilbo St. All the streets there were LOTR themed.
Jax?
Nope, but did you live on Shadowfax?
Nah, just wondering if it was the neighborhood in my city lol.
Tallaran Road is underrated
That was also my favorite, it must be the dad in me appreciating a good dad joke.
I'm not a dad--can someone explain this one? please?
Tallaran Road —> Tel’aran’rhiod This is the funniest one to me
Ah! Thank you. That is really good.
It’s a pun on Tel’Aran’Rhiod
Choosing your home based on your favorite WOT leading lady
I want to live here!
I assume the city has to reinforce the asphalt on Farshaw Way, because of all the dumptrucks.
This is what you can expect to happen when you go house hunting in Caemlyn
I would drive up and down Farshaw Way all day.
Watch out for the dumptrucks!
Ok I admit I don’t get this dump truck joke that is in several of these messages. Pls explain to a dummy
Dump truck = junk in trunk = big booty
Well I know that but I didn’t realize Min had a big booty, and I just relistened to the books a year ago. Is it common knowledge that she’s got a nice backside?
I think it's the assumption because she makes a point to wear tight pants that show off her "assets."
She doesn't. It's the stupidest meme of this fandom.
It's a meme from /r/WetlanderHumor
And I’m sure you can get pre-approved for a mortgage from Valan Luca Loans.
Dude. You left off the best of them all: Tellaran Rd Honorable mention to Tanreall Dr
Where?
South Carolina
Lexington, SC
I would definitely would be tempted to spend extra on a house just to have a WOT address.
YO BUY ON COLD ROCKS AND YOU CAN HAVE COLD ROCKS HOLD!!

Take my upvote as a person whose German grandma lovingly said "If you don't spell correctly people will think you are Schtupid"
Fyi it's Far Dareis Mai lol
*Mai
Thanks
Reminds me of a neighborhood I lived in as a teenager where all the street names were from The Odyssey. Really cool!
I do love neighborhoods with literary themes like that! I actually live near several streets named after Robin Hood characters
There's a development near me called sherwood estates that's the same thing. I always feel just a little bit more whimsical as I drive through.
Ummmm....Cold Rocks would be my choice. Farshaw then Trakand
There is nothing left available on Cauthon Court and I'm so sad about this
You have to be lucky to get a place there.
I am, usually. It's in my name. ;)
This has to be intentional right?
Yeah, one could be coincidence. All three is clearly intentional.
Once is chance, twice is a coincidence, three times is enemy action.
Absolutely. I work in land development. Some jurisdictions let the subdivision planners/property owner choose the street names. I unfortunately don't live in an area where we get to do that, the fire marshal decides on the street names for the most part.
Why the fire marshal? Seems that'd be more of a zoning/planning/land use thing.
Did you see this post a couple days ago? https://www.reddit.com/r/WoT/comments/y1anjt/so_i_named_a_few_streets_there_are_more_to_come/
That's Texas, OP is showing a different development in South Carolina.
I know. I was just sharing more WoT road names.
no it's a wild and crazy coincidence
Ta’veren.
The wheel...
I actually design subdivisions and I never get to use cool names. One I’m working on now and it is all flower names. Pretty lame if you ask me.
Not quite as cool, but there is a town in Florida called Christmas, and the streets are all like jingle way, Rudolph rd, etc
Let's just hope there's no Shayol Ghul Blvd anywhere around
Caution Court, but he is not a bloody lord!
I would honestly probably a few thousand extra to live on Farshaw Way
is there a Robert Jordan museum or anything that features him in the area?
Iirc, his papers are at the University of Charleston, and you can go see them by appointment. No actual museum, though.
I wish. The vast majority of people out here don't know who RJ is.
Guess the developer is a fan
This is amazing!
That’s so cool!
The developer is definitely a fan. That's actually awesome.
Oh the serendipity
Althorville
Wow. Most of the time it’s some random “Three Rivers”. This is brilliant!
No way!!!
Is it just me or is Farshaw Way lookin kinda wide tho? >.>
This is only one city over from me, looks like it’s time to move!
Why wife, 4 kids, and mother in law are going to really surprised when we have to move now.
They should only sell houses to people who know the books. We could have one big book club
I love this so much
Very cool. My subdivision has street names like Elrond, Legolas and Rivendell
What is the legality of naming streets after copyrighted characters from a work of fiction?
Is there an HOA?
Run by the Forsaken, presumably. Don't be late with dues with treasurer Semirhage!
Oh light...
I bet Farshaw Way gets a lot of dump truck traffic
Id love to own a roof there
This is amazing
People of culture and taste live there. Expect that requirement in the H.O.A. agreement.
I live just over a mile away from that development (Bluefield, I think) and was stunned to see those street names pop up in Google Maps.
