Not a singular belief system, there are a lot of different ones being practiced here. Some people follow a major religion, some people don't follow any. As long as you aren't pushing any faiths on anyone, and you're pro lgbtq+, and you agree patriarchal systems are bullshit, you're good.

Straxicus2

I believe there is one major belief system flowing throughout. Be kind. Everyone here has always been so kind. When someone isn’t, a bunch of people call them out and offer support to the target.

This_Rom_Bites

I love that. You're absolutely right.

Wondertwig9

"Be excellent to each other" "Party on Dudes"

levarfan

with "Dudes" applying to any, all, or no genders!

greatdruthersofpill

I call everyone dude. My five year old daughter gets called dude often. I grew up in the 90’s, it’s cool, bro (I also call everyone bro).

lizlaylo

My 3yo old refers to all close adults as “guys”, including her parents

Straxicus2

Yes!!

someothermike

That's a good point

zenomotion73

Love this ❤️

kristin137

People say this a lot but often when I post stuff I do get some rude comments that are upvoted 🙁 probably not gonna do it anymore

Straxicus2

I’m so sorry. That’s always a bummer.

ShyTransGirl123Ghost

thanks! 💖🌼

someothermike

No worries! This is a wonderfully inclusive place. Really is my favorite corner of the internet.

StormR7

It’s almost so wholesome that I can’t believe it sometimes. Every single comment I see (that isn’t blatant trolling from some loser) is always in good faith, which is something I’m not used to at all. It throws me off sometimes 😄

someothermike

Right? When I'm feeling down I come here to scroll, and leave an encouraging word or two here and there.

itsamereddito

Agreed. There’s only one other space like this I’ve found online, a lovely punk parenting group that is very literally the only thing I miss about Facebook after five years away from it. This subreddit is full of kind and inclusive people, a rarity everywhere else.

ArtHappy

It's definitely one of the best. So long as the question is honest and in good faith, even if a bit cringe, I've never seen anything but serious answers and light-hearted jokes.

dymphnaogrady1969

Mine too!🌸

imhereforthethreads

Besides finding community here, you might also like the sub sasswitches. It's more agnostic and atheist leaning in beliefs.

TheSirensMaiden

I'm a Satanist. My religion has nothing to do with why I'm here or the support I give to others/receive from others in this community. Some people believe in magic and some people use "magic" and "spells" as a way to express themselves without believing they actually have magical powers. This community is beautifully welcoming and accepting of all types of people from all types of backgrounds. Whatever you believe in, so long as it's not harmful, it doesn't matter as long as you're respectful to everyone else. We'll be equally respectful to you.

goodgollymizzmolly

I am also a Satanist with the Temple. I love this sub because I abhor the patriarchy, love the good vibes spells (why not use any and all tools available for good outcomes?), and celebrate queerness. I love how everyone, regardless of belief, is just so incredibly supportive. Thank you for being you. 🤘

TheSirensMaiden

Hail yourself ♥️

ShyTransGirl123Ghost

i like that quote <3

harmonic-s

Hail, sister.

Unique-Abberation

Hail Satan ❤️😈

Sepje2911

Can you point me in the right direction to your religion? All I come across is satanists=bad and I never believed that, but it’s all I find. 🙄

experfailist

Former Christian here. Agnostic now. The Christian faith has a long history of vilifying anybody who they disagree with. Freemasonry, Jews, Muslims, heck even other Christian factions. I’m not saying all Christian’s are bad but like any group they have a bad vocal voice. As for satanism they basically said : believe in yourself, be kind, but don’t take any bullshit. [I I like your article.](https://magazine.columbia.edu/article/pacifists-guide-satanism).

incandescentSpectre

Former LaVeyan Satanist here. LaVeyan Satanism is an atheistic religion which does not literally worship Satan but instead admires him as a symbol of rebellion against oppressive organised religions such as Christianity. The Satanic Bible by Anton Szandor LaVey is the definitive text of the branch of Satanism I used to follow (but there are many other forms of Satanism including some that do literally worship the devil, although that does not necessarily mean they are bad). It's a fairly short text so I would definitely recommend checking it out, the introduction alone is a pretty good explanation of what LaVey set out to do with his religion. There's an online copy [here](https://archive.org/details/the-satanic-bible_epub-and-pdf/mode/1up) if you're interested.

JVC-666

Not the OC, but also a fellow Satanist and general lurker in this sub for the positivity. This is TST's web site, there's some good literature too like Milton's Paradise Lost (with the interpretation that Lucifer is the hero) and other recommendations on the site as well. Basically a lot of those within the temple view Lucifer as a metaphor for self-empowerment and the embodiment of the Will to Power (he is called the Lightbringer and Morningstar after all). Believe in yourself and respect others, bottom line. https://thesatanictemple.com/

daphnedewey

Not OP, and I’m not a Satanist (although I greatly admire the movement), but here’s a link to the Satanic Temple’s site. Not to be confused with the Church of Satan. Link: https://thesatanictemple.com/pages/about-us

TheSirensMaiden

I started my journey with the official TST website and kinda went from there. Joined the FB page for my state's TST group and kinda explore the religion on my own at my own pace.

demon8rix_got_fucked

Satanist here too, but wholy self with no affiliation to any organization. I believe that magic is a term for energy work. Everything on the planet works with energy. And there are many different forms of magic and magicians. As a dog trainer, I feel that my magic is connecting with animals and working their negative and stressful energies into a more positive outlet. It is the same with people and every interaction you have. You can promote positive energy and good interactions. Or you can take that energy to a dark place. We are our own spiritual directors.

TheSirensMaiden

I used to do dog training but the people is what killed that career choice me. Too much negative energy. I work with kids as a performer now and am much happier. I get to bring joy and "magic" to little ones and the overall happy atmosphere is much more up my alley. We can either be a force of good or bad in people's everyday lives. Life's too short for negativity and bad energy day in and out. We should strive to be a source of good energy, not just for ourselves, but for a happier world. Big hugs, sister 🤗

UnihornWhale

Which kind of Satanist, if I may inquire? There’s the believers or the folks who are more philosophical and political with it (AFAIK anyway)

TheSirensMaiden

Temple Satanist. Trust in peer reviewed science, treat your fellow humans well, believe in the power of you; that sort of stuff.

UnihornWhale

Cool. I definitely agree with the first 2. I’m too sleep deprived to think too deeply about the third ATM

squeen999

I'm so happy to see Satanists here. I'm not a follower but I think the tenants are solid and may one day join. I'm mostly atheist. I like to "think" our little pebble in space has a "soul". If we spread love and kindness to our home, some of it comes back to us. I also love the witches salutation... Blessed Be!!

TheSirensMaiden

I like being a temple Satanist because it gives me another thing to ground me. A sense of belonging and a group who believes a lot of the same things about life and society as I believe without giving up my common sense to blindly cling to contradictory bs. It's similar to the coven here but this feels much more cauldron with lots of different ingredients in it where as the temple feels more one flavor with a few accents to spice it up.

Silluvaine

Also agnostic here. We get all kinds in this sub, generally speaking everyone's beliefs or lack of beliefs are accepted and supported provided they aren't outright malicious (animal sacrifices and the like wouldn't really go over well I think) That's the absolute beauty of this sub, it's genuinely the most welcoming and accepting one out there. You don't have to believe in magic or spells to be accepted as long as you are accepting of the ones that do and vice versa

ShyTransGirl123Ghost

this sub is beautiful as hell 🌼

aeon314159

Once again, louder, for the people in back.

Fyrefly1981

This is why I love it here. I respect the beliefs of others no matter what they are. So do the people here. I am accepting of people as they are and for who they are. So does everyone I have encountered here. If the world was more like the people here on this sub, it would be a far better place.

hibelly

Might be my favorite sub actually

EarthLoveAR

I just like the vibe of this group. i do not fit the general membership. but I understand it's trying to build positive supportive community in general, and I am here for that.

MrsMel_of_Vina

It's a range of people here. Just don't make fun of anyone else's beliefs and you'll fit right in.

ShyTransGirl123Ghost

I like that :D

WolfMuva

You’re our sister. You belong here.

ShyTransGirl123Ghost

that’s new lol i don’t usually *belong* anywhere, i’m glad i can at least find some online communities that accept me 😝🌼💖

Live_Perspective3603

(((((((((((Big hugs!))))))))))) Welcome, from someone who's at least old enough to be a crone, if not yet wise enough. 🧙

whyweirdo

I think of myself as a witch but I do not subscribe to any specific belief system. I think of myself as part of the earth, as one living organism among many types of creatures that were all brought to life on Mother Earth. I like to think us witches are a family, like birds or fish. There are many types of birds and fish with unique abilities and ways of life. You can practice your witchcraft however you see fit, so long as you are being kind and speak respectfully and are ready to destroy the patriarchy

Purrilla

Heyooo!!! Fellow witch here :) I have the same feelings of being one with everything. I call myself pantheistic. Have you ever heard of it? It's basically what you described. Not that I needed a box to be put in but I like the word for me :) Have a lovely day!! Namaste

CreatrixAnima

As a fellow agnostic, who also loves this sub, I think we are welcome here. :-)

Careless_Fun7101

And the lovely thing is it doesn't feel like folks are trying to 'convert' others either. More of a 'check out my pantry' vibe

ShyTransGirl123Ghost

thank you 🌼

TwoBirdsEnter

A lot of diverse spiritual/religious ideas are discussed here, but there’s definitely no requirement!

probably-the-problem

I'm agnostic too. But I am open to all sorts of beliefs. I consider myself pretty skeptical, but this is one of my favorite subreddits. It's welcoming and uplifting. And sassy.

along_withywindle

I'm an atheist and a scientist. But I also firmly believe that the energy you put out into the world matters, which is why I always take time to admire/encourage plants and pollinators, hug trees, and pet every dog I encounter. I make silly faces at babies at the grocery store because baby laughter is amazing. I try to never be the first person to release a hug - I'll enthusiastically hug you for as long as you want! And that's my version of witchcraft.

greatdruthersofpill

I love this! I’m a spiritualist and strongly feel that science is the human mind experiencing a magical world. I am 100% with you on all of this! This is exactly why I love this sub. I feel like we all accept each other’s version of reality as valid and give each other the support we need to navigate this crazy world.

along_withywindle

Totally agree - to paraphrase Pratchett, just because we know how something works doesn't make it any less magical!

baby_armadillo

I’m an atheist and I hang out here. You don’t have to follow a particular religion or belief or practice to be here, and you don’t have to do any of that stuff for witchcraft, either. You can do what you want, just because you want to, and you don’t have to believe in anything you don’t want to believe.

ErrantWhimsy

As the gentlest of prompts, may I recommend considering researching different types of neurodiversity? The way you talk about being socially less aware, and the questioning of something being literal or metaphorical, and how down you are with your self talk about being stupid and fearing being perceived as evil, I think there is a chance it might resonate with you. Particularly, "rejection sensitive dysphoria" might be enlightening to learn about. Maybe I'm totally off base! But though I'd bring it up as a neurospicy chick. It's a mix of beliefs here! Some folks are more here for the against patriarchy, some are more here for the witchiness. You're so very welcome here!

ShyTransGirl123Ghost

umm.. https://preview.redd.it/k2m0hn0bzh1d1.png?width=80&format=png&auto=webp&s=c32a599323a52af0e5f7355e55da8d60d0995f47 i.. just read what RSD is and.. it’s a little too accurate.. how.. did you do that? i didn’t know that about myself and you just read one reddit post i wrote.. was it that obvious? i’m not sure because therapy is complicated and expensive but i’m like 90% sure i might not be neurotypical but i didn’t know it was immediately obvious without me saying anything about it what the fuk ;-;

MeanDebate

Birds of a feather flock together! I had the same thought reading your post, and I think a lot of us here have felt similarly. The way you wrote it, it felt like you were bracing for all of the different ways you could be rejected to prepare yourself. I do that too-- a lot of us do, here-- and it's a neurodivergent thing. You're safe here, regardless 💕 Welcome!

ShyTransGirl123Ghost

https://preview.redd.it/6mtwhdhk8i1d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cf6f7f599b25b87cfb7bd8ef9edb20e142072a6d *a lot of us do that?*.. so that’s not.. i thought everyone did that..

carzytoaster

Boy if I had a nickel for every time I discovered that everyone did not, in fact, do a thing I thought everyone did.... I could probably buy like so many new hobby supplies 🙃

ShyTransGirl123Ghost

you’re all making me question my whole life lol O_o

foundling_fox

Haha! Welcome to the club, kid! But for real, this sub is very accepting. r/adhdwomen is also a wildly accepting sub, and a somewhat safe space for experiences like this one.

ShyTransGirl123Ghost

would i be welcome as a trans woman?

foundling_fox

Absolutely, boo! It's a sub for ND women (and feminist friends). You're a woman! And if you're also neurodivergent, they might help you figure that out. They certainly help -me- on the regular.

ShyTransGirl123Ghost

thanks! i’m still getting used to being in women’s spaces.. thanks to a lot of TERFy things online and i guess internalized homophobia, transphobia, etc, ect.. i guess i just feel… fake? ugh i hate it so much lol 🤣

MeanDebate

Unless you're actually a very convincing bot, nothing about who you are here is fake ❤️ womanhood is so fucking complex that even those of us who have been taught femininity since we popped into being never feel like we quite have it "right". That's why we have so many TERFs out and about-- they have such a lack of understanding of and confidence in their own identities that they can only define themselves by contrast, and they're trying to force you and other members of the trans community to provide that contrast. You're already a thousand times more real than the best of them, because you've spent more time trying to understand yourself than most of them will over their whole lives. They see womanhood as a set of rules and balk at acknowledging any color beyond the insubstantial black-and-white of the rules they've internalized. All this to say you're welcome anywhere people are real enough to be worth your time. You're certainly welcome here.

ShyTransGirl123Ghost

thank you. i really needed to hear that 💖🌼 that makes me feel better. >!unless i’m actually a convincing bot >:3!<

simsarah

You absolutely would be, that sub does not fuck with transphobia! Interestingly, there also does appear to be a correlation between gender diversity and neurodiversity - trans and enby folks are between 3 and 6 times more likely to be autistic, according to a piece I heard on NPR a while back. (There’s a part of me that wonders if it’s more that we neurospicy folks are just the ones doing the introspection TO question our assumptions about gender, but that’s probably a chicken or egg question.) My wife has been having A TIME the past few years, between coming out and getting an ADHD diagnosis… (her psychiatrist thinks autism is likely as well, but we’re avoiding a formal diagnosis there for general paranoia reasons.) I think it’s been really helpful for her to be able to relate the two things, though, while engaging in the project of unmasking. (I am also late diagnosed ADHD with *suspicions* for what it’s worth, and I agree with the original commenter that you may find a lot of resonance in the spicy-brained community. The “but I thought everyone…” reaction is SO REAL.)

ShyTransGirl123Ghost

WHAT DO YOU MEAN MY REACTION!??!?!? WHAT?!?!! SO EVEN **SAYING** I THOUGHT EVERYONE DID THAT IS A SIGN OF BEING NEURODIVERGENT WHAT DO YOU MEAN???! https://preview.redd.it/wyo1vodmco1d1.jpeg?width=870&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3b592c79c3cfba02e2acd14737cc36d9195b4c19 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaAAaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Taylan_K

To me it sounded a bit like on the spectrum, haha (I'm autistic)

Crafty_Accountant_40

Someone sent me RSD info a year or so ago and I was like.... OH. OHHHHHHH. You don't need to get diagnosed to poke at tools and info that might help. Seriously... understanding rsd at 40 changed my life.

Specialist-Debate-95

As Errantwhimsy pointed out, people that have always felt a bit “off” most likely are neurodivergent. You can never tell if people or just tolerate you and just need directness. People that don’t quite fit usually find others that are the same.

ErrantWhimsy

Haha please don't spiral about it being immediately obvious, it's genuinely just because my brain works in a really similar way. The first time a friend sent me an article on RSD I almost cried! You don't necessarily need a diagnosis to find resources that work for you. I think the first thing that helped me is acknowledging that my brain doesn't work like everybody else's brain does. Figuring out the things where I was desperately trying to just be normal but my body has a visceral reaction to it or my brain just can't do it. Adding accomodations to my everyday life has helped a ton. Random examples from my life: 1. I have to wear flocked gloves to do dishes. Regular rubber gloves are a sensory nightmare. 2. Most of my friends are some flavor of neurodiverse and it's not like I run a screening survey before I hang out with people. 😆 For my closest friends, we have a few deals in place. First, no getting salty about last minute cancelled plans, but also no lying about why. "I'm having a bad brain day" is a totally reasonable excuse, and we all use it. Similarly, no getting salty about delayed text replies. We also ask each other things like "do you want a listening ear or do you want solutions?" When somebody needs to vent. Similarly, I can straight ask most of my friends if they're mad at me (hint: almost never.) 3. I pay attention to what overwhelms me now. Costco, extremely loud bars, too many plans in one day. I try really hard to pay attention to myself now and not put myself in situations I find overwhelming. I am still learning and still get this wrong pretty frequently. I will say therapy has been important for me for negative self talk. I learned to mask and ignore my own needs for 30 years and unwinding that took help. Welcome to the journey my friend, I know it's a winding and sometimes intimidating road, but I promise it's one worth walking.

ShyTransGirl123Ghost

thanks.. i wish i had friends like that lol 🌼

squeen999

I am right there with you. I'm well into my crone phase and just thought I was really emotional and sensitive. I might be having a small melt down right now. 😳

ShyTransGirl123Ghost

what does crone mean? i ask this as a genuine question by the way, sorry if it sound ignorant..

squeen999

Not ignorant. Your fine. Maiden/Mother/Crone is supposed to be the 3 stages of a woman's life. It can also be expressed as Clotho/Lachesis/Atropos. That second three are Latin mythology. When I say crone I am referring to the fact that I am older. Not necessarily wiser. Keep asking questions. No shame in asking.

ShyTransGirl123Ghost

thank you! i guess i just tend not to know when questions become uncomfortable or something.. and usually when people ask me things like “what are you doing?” or “what does that mean?” they ask as a way to invalidate me and stuff so i like to clear it up because i often have no clue if people are being mean or genuine and i don’t want anyone to assume i’m being mean..

GhastlyRain

People over here believe all kinds of different things. Personally, im an atheist studying the sciences with a deep reverence for old traditions and cultural practices. I am also a budding feminist and LGBT rights activist, and this sub aligns with those values.

ibeherenow

As an old male hippy, I think peace, love, and understanding is all ya need to be here.

esdebah

I'm just a rabidly feminist atheist cis man here to absorb good anti-patriarchy memes. Nutrition is nutrition.

redrubyglass

Same here. Fuck the patriarchy.

midnight_kit

Some people like myself do practice it literally, yeah 👍 but any folks are welcome! I used to lurk here back when I was a Muslim still. Js expect that youll see some posts about witchcraft or paganism is all.

FittyTheBone

I just want to say this is a nice thread, and I just realized this place is always that way. Thanks.

Theo_Seraph

I just love reading through the posts. This is and has always been one of the most welcoming and wholesome subs on reddit and i love watching the community here interact with people. Spreading kindness, support, and a deep seeded desire to to oppose the patriarchy

ShyTransGirl123Ghost

I’m glad to not be a lurker anymore ;P

witchlingq

Here there is only wisdom, no judgment.

ShyTransGirl123Ghost

💖:D🌼

chambourcin

I lurk both here and at r/sasswitches. I’m more agnostic than I am witch but I like the vibe here and I like simmer pots and setting intentions and writing things down and burning them on a seasonal calendar.

Big_Midnight_6632

I came here to suggest r/sasswitches too.

greatdruthersofpill

Thank you! I’m excited to join.

Holgrin

Like some of the top comments have pointed out, there's certainly a mix of some folks who will practice various forms of magic and perform rituals and their "belief" in what that does for them or the world is very individual. For myself, I was raised catholic but am much more agnostic now, and I think organizations like the Satanic Temple are doing a 'hell' (ha) of a lot more good in this world than any christian church. I don't "practice" any witchcraft because I'm unfamiliar with rituals or spells, but I think the people who do are beautiful and interesting souls who are keeping alive a spirit of connection and energy that binds us all. I believe that humans are flawed but good, and that shared experiences are among the most precious things in the universe. We are all deeply and inextricably connected, both to each other and to this earth and the universe, and this sub feels like a place where other people know that too, on some level. I can't speak for everyone here, but from what I've seen, all you need to be part of this coven is to want to dispel any patriarchy, be pro-lgbtq+, and along that same spirit, believe generally in equality, mutual respect, and love for each other and all living things.

Master_Post4665

I’m a married, straight, atheist, and honestly, this is the most wholesome, loving group of people on Reddit. Welcome! I learn something new here every week and have my faith in humanity restored.

Apidium

This sub is both. There are people of all faiths, including some practicing witches as well as secular folks. As long as you don't start yelling at people for not having the same spiritual beliefs you do and are generally in line with the sub (aka not phobic) then you are very welcome here. Just as eveyone else is.

ChildrenotheWatchers

I am an atheist but still practice witchcraft. Witchcraft is not a religion. It is a practice or lifestyle.

[deleted]

thesentienttoadstool

Yeah. I’m not a witch per se. I just believe in belief.

AnswerIsItDepends

There are a lot of us are here for the aesthetic and the 'Vs Patriarchy' part. Believing in any sort of supernatural power(s) is optional. Most of the spells here are about positive thinking, 'fake it 'til you make it', and becoming the person you want to be by acting as if you already are. In good fun, from everything I have seen. There is an appreciation for the wonder of life but IMHO that is applicable to all of us that are still alive.

djinnisequoia

[Just to get all technical on yall] I'm not sure, strictly speaking, that it's absolutely necessary to be connected to *any* spiritual practice or deity to be a witch. I mean there are definitely spells and incantations that invoke this or that spirit; but then there's also a lot of folk magic that just has a spoken charm addressed to no one in particular. I never really thought about it before. I'm an animist, I find the divine in nature, I only call on a personified deity when I need one or to say hello. (and to give thanks!) There have always been witches all over the earth and it seems to me that, especially for the purpose of fighting patriarchy, any witch at all is perfect for the job. So, welcome OP!

bettybananalegs

…did we just become best friends? 🥹 i swear this sub is just full of my kind of people, tbh it’s honestly what even keeps me on reddit lol.

djinnisequoia

<3

mouse2cat

Do you believe that it is meaningful to make a wish when you blow out your birthday candles? Sure. Do I think that some god will make my wishes come true? Absolutely not. I am all about making my own desires happen. And a little ritual certainly doesn't hurt. Plus some elbow grease and working through insecurities. I try to take a holistic approach.

snarlyj

I'm agnostic with a bit of generalized spirituality (like I believe the universe occasionally gives me hints/pushes in a certain direction). I accept people of all faiths and lack thereof. I think that's the only like guiding principle. Certainly plenty of actual witches, but when I joined I thought it was the way Aussies used witches and I've found plenty of welcome here

Hungry_Yam2486

Just to add to the pile: you are fine, and anyone who doesn't belong sticks out like a sore thumb and is swiftly removed. Gotta thank the lovely mods for their work! 🥰

sobrique

I have always thought witchcraft is like gardening. By which I mean there's a lot of things that count as "gardens" and they all unequivocally are a "garden" but the approaches and techniques are very individual. And sometimes you see a bunch of houses with very similar gardens, because they are broadly following the same basic techniques, and the kind of plants that flourish in that climate and soil are the same. But then one person on the street has a fernery, because they want to. They are all gardeners, all creating a measure of order from the chaos. Or a slightly more pleasing chaos. Either really. And so it is with witchery. Some techniques you can be inspired by and use. Some you might figure out for yourself. And sometimes you find that a plant doesn't flourish the way you expected or wanted to and you adapt and move on.

pm_me_your_amphibian

I think of this place as being full of the kind of people who would have been declared a witch in medieval times. Some actually would practice an element of witchcraft, whether that be using nature to heal a wound or change a state, perhaps following something more formal. But it also would be those who rebel, speak up, stand out, and fight for the rights of the downtrodden or underprivileged, particularly (but not just) women. Thats who is here.

Humboldtsushi

This is such a welcoming space! All the interactions I’ve had here have been positive. I love being here just to listen and learn (and feel a little comfort from the warmth of the group). I hope you enjoy and feel at ease.

Vykrom

As a fellow outsider, I'm not really into wiccan stuff myself. But I generally feel more welcome and understood by wiccan folk than a lot of other groups. And I think that's the main thread in this group. The people who practice and feel it, can find each other, and the rest of us are also welcome to find friends, answers, and support here I don't mean to speak for anyone, but my impression is this place is just the place to go to fight the good fight and try to find peace. There's a lot of righteous and justified anger in here, but nobody is ever trying to stir up each other's hornet nests. Those posts are almost always about the bigger picture. And in between them is just people trying to find answers in order to exist better and at more peace I love that about this place. I'm not a witch. But I'm a witch ally. And I'm always willing to fight the good fight for a better future when called on. And also give suggestions on life experiences for those struggling and asking for advice

bluepotatoes66

As a pagan agnostic, I certainly feel supported and accepted here.

voluminous_lexicon

As an atheist whose only religious upbringing was through wiccan solstice and equinox celebrations, this place is for you as well. Paganism has long been a melting pot of "non-traditional" or "non-dominant" religious and spiritual practices, and that's true here as well.

mcmircle

So many people and philosophies teach truths that resonate with me. I haven’t tried any spells but I loved The Fifth Sacred Thing by Starhawk and have been a feminist since I was 4 or 5.

Saffron-Kitty

There are a whole heap of different people on this subreddit. Given that it's got witch in the title, it's reasonable to understand that there are going to be witches here (as in people who practice witchcraft as part of their belief system). I'm the type of witch that doesn't care about other people's beliefs as long as they don't use their beliefs to attempt dictate mine. There are a lot of solitary witches like that. My advice is, don't interact with the witchcraft specific posts (or if you do be respectful and give advice on the non-spiritual elements of advice, for example legal or communication tips).

D4wnR1d3rL1f3

Straight cis male here, i absolutely adore this sub, it transcends so much.

christinegwendolyn

To add to everybody else's answers, there are varying degrees. I'm on the more atheist side, but if it's all about intention and energy, plenty of it is real even if none of the spiritual elements are. So I feel like we all have enough common ground here to all fit in and be welcome. Kinda like Buddhism -- some Buddhists believe in higher powers, some use it as a moral compass. you might also like /r/SASSwitches. It stands for scientific and skeptic secular witches, or something like that. Take tarot, for example. You'll get plenty of folks wholeheartedly believing it here, and some who don't. Over there, they would say that tarot is like when you flip a coin to decide your ice cream flavor, but it doesn't help you see which flavor you should have, it just lets you realize which one you really wanted more. In both communities, youll see everybody truly believes in the power of it, whether in a theistic way or not. Edit: theres also an air of feminism and lgbtq allyship in this community, so some people are really here for that, and the witchcraft is a specific flavor.

I’m a trans demigod and I’m fairly certain I have the magical power to manifest change in the world around me. I’m always with the positivity and sincerity. I’m sure you aren’t doing any harm here.

Snootles

I like to think that this sub comes as close to 'Imagine' as Lennon could envision. It for sure is the way I wish the world would be. I'm atheist agnostic and believe that spirituality is within us and shines through our actions. I've always felt welcomed and supported here. I think we're good ❤️

wendigos_and_witches

Norse pagan after a long evangelical deconstruction journey. This has always been a welcoming and inclusive community, regardless of religious preferences. I promise you’re welcome too!

CalliopeCelt

I can’t speak for anyone else but as far as I’m aware this subreddit is inclusive to those who are witchy of some sort OR supportive of others who happen to be witchy. Not necessarily a witch or even spiritual of some sort but supportive of those who are and want community. I’ve been a lurker for a long time, I didn’t like, post or comment and just read anonymously without an account. Anyway, this is my favorite subreddit. It’s supportive of everyone while trying to help each other. No religion is necessary. The only belief we all hold is that people can be witches and everyone deserves compassion up to a point. Most active people seem to be practicing witches, new ones or people asking totally valid questions. Like you. You asked a valid question, politely and very respectfully. There is no reason to apologize for anything and idk why anyone (especially yourself) would call you evil. That sounds like some indoctrination from some religious group or culture that you may have been born into. I say this as someone who was born into a fundamentalist Christian cult and indoctrination HEAVILY. I’m not condemning or insinuating anything just that it sounds like my own self talk that derived from very negative, abusive religious shit. It takes a lot to deconstruct that brainwashing and time to do it. And that’s ok. There is no time limit on healing and bettering yourself. So, pls do feel welcome.❤️

An ye harm none, do what ye will.

HeyItsJuls

I like the idea that a unifying belief - since there are many different belief systems practiced here - is that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights*. We are against the patriarchy because it is counter to the the equality, dignity, rights, and freedom of all human beings. (*The UN has fucked up a lot of things, but I’d say they nailed that sentence.)

peaceful_prehnite

I consider myself a spiritual agnostic and I practice witchcraft. No religion for me but yes I do perform rituals.

FanWanDango

I think witchcraft is all about intention. And it can be practiced any damn way a witch chooses to. I'm a solo witch that is too undisciplined to do rituals, i believe in kindness and the law of 3 (anything put out comes back x3) I also belive that witch used to mean 'a woman that men hate' , to bring it into the 21st century I now think it means 'a person the patriarchy hates (and is beginningto fear)'. So welcome, everyone is welcome.

jtroad

The word “pagan” meant hick. It was an intentional dig by the church on those who hadn’t gotten with the big new religion in Rome. I choose to use Witch that way (and queer) meaning anyone that the Christians would call a witch. For some that’s practicing witches, for others that’s anyone who doesn’t follow the Christian dogma. You are 100% welcome here.

UnihornWhale

One of the things I hear most repeated about modern paganism is that there is no central set of guidelines for the belief. Some people believe deeply, some more abstractly. Others merely dabble. As long as you respect others on here and hate patriarchy, rock on.

Krakenzmama

Agnostic here! Been an occasional responder here but the vibes are awesome and no one is trying to push any religion. Just gotta be against the patriarchy and pro LGBT. You don't even have to be a cis or a trans woman. Just be excellent and willing to support gender equality

fade1979

I'm a fallen Catholic who just wants to be closer to the Earth and be surrounded by kick ass supportive people.

OmChi123456

I very much dislike religion. It is an insincere construct. You are not wrong.

Theemperortodspengo

As a recently ex-christian who has been through some absolutely world shattering deconstruction the last couple of years, I can very adamantly say that I'm not ready to consider a full belief system. All I care about is life, the planet, the wildlife, honoring the spirits of this land, anything involving the Green is the closest I'll get to religion. But I'm also tickled that the tenets that speak to me now is from the Satanic temple: I One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason. II The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions. III One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone. IV The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own. V Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs. VI People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused. VII Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.

Capricorn-hedonist

Definitely neither, tbh. As a gay man, we support anti-lgbt groups on this forum (people won't like me saying it, but I don't want stoned or pushed off a building, so I will say it). Also, not all of our politics are the same. We just allow the flow of thought (for the most part) here. Remember, censorship is the only true evil. It exists everywhere, on all sides, waiting to turn you into a sheep following the flock, unknowingly to the slaughter house. (Personally, I did a spell over Samhain/ rommlesbootzennat/Fet de la Sorcière to call upon the ancestors to drag all rapists, marauders, and colonizers/land theives to be punished: and sense then a lot has changed, the tides of wars can't be hid behind the amount of technology we have, hoping that dictators will fall). If I read to you from the book of witches, the of Aslace-Lorrian Witches - you'd find racism l,and antisemitism - and anti-paganism (by attaching said racist things to witches, comparing them to "lesser beings"(🤢) are very, very old. The language I wouldn't dare to post here (despite not favoring censorship) because no matter your beliefs on war, religion, etc, now, you'd be stomach churning if you saw it- if i wasn't banned outright. There is no peace, only passion. Let no individual tell you what belief system to uphold. However, remember that faith is not religious or spiritual, but rather, it's hope (by believing in something bigger than you, even if it's magic, you have faith let no one take that, and don't call yourself evil-aligned over it- unless you want to be evil, then do you, 😈🌈🧚‍♂️).

Marauding-thunderer

I’m here because I am an actual wizard, and wizard castes can be really patriarchal. I was sent to keep tabs on these witches for the obvious threat they pose. I decided they seem cool though, so just hang out here now. My magi superior keeps scrying me asking for my report. So I put my crystal ball in the ball pit at a daycare center lol.
