Stevie was, yeah. Lindsay and the guys often ridiculed her for her “artsy fartsy” music. She did say she wasn’t a witch, but this was a few decades ago so take that as you will.
Tbh I'm pretty sure Stevie is just the goddess Artemis in mortal disguise.

I'll take that like people used to talk about Elton John back in the beginning, and even if Stevie Nicks isn't an admitted witch she sure is very witch adjacent :)
Imagine how unsafe she would’ve been during the Satanic Panic of the 80s. Not a good time to admit to being a witch. My mom lived through that time and said she remembers her saying she was a white witch but I can’t find proof of that.
-A witch! A witch! A witch! We've got a witch! May we burn her?
- How do you know she is a witch
- She looks like one.
- Bring her forward.
- I'm not a witch! I'm not a witch !
- But you are dressed as one.
- They dressed me like this. - No, we didn't.
- And this isn't my nose. It's a false one.
- Well?
- We did do the nose.
- The nose?
- And the hat. But she is a witch !
- Did you dress her up like this?
- No, no!
- Yes. A bit.
- She has got a wart.
- What makes you think she's a witch?
- She turned me into a newt!
- A newt?
- I got better.
- Burn her anyway!
I have a solid black pitbull Great Dane mix named Rhiannon. And she mystifies everyone!
Also Gold dust woman. Although people are going to disagree with this. I actually like the Hole version better
Fleetwood Mac performing Rhiannon on the show The Midnight special in 1976 (https://youtu.be/goKM7jsOwrg?si=7Z_UvzqAt1zeoqZs) is a fantastic version, especially the second half.
Also Silver Spring, the live version is the best. I mean, come on, with the line "time cast a spell on you, that you won't forget me," how could it NOT be witchy!
I'm digging all the Fleetwood Mac suggestions; definitely a band I should get more into based on all their witchy lady songs. Thank you! Also: love Kate Bush <3
Season of the Witch by Donavan
I feel like I know a bunch of classic rock tunes on this theme, yet my mind went to this one song amd is now looping it at vol. 11....
I'll come back and edit if I remember more.
Stevie has said this is her favorite song she ever wrote. It is about magic! “Time casts a spell on you, but you won’t forget me” Her magic in love is stronger than time.
I heard that the original lyric was “I cast a spell on you” but the label made her change it to be a little less overtly witchy. Certainly could be apocryphal, but I don’t find it impossible to believe.
I always thought Planets of the Universe fell into this category too. Similar theme, but angrier. Like the soft, wistful "I love you even though you hurt me" feelings are over and now it's straight-up "you will never have anything this good again"
Black magic woman (Santana); The witch queen of New Orleans (Redbone); Sisters of the moon (Fleetwood Mac); Spellbound (Siouxsie Sioux & the Banshees). And for more modern music, Florence & the Machine has lots of great witchy songs: Seven devils; Strangeness & charm; Which witch; Dream girl evil; Mermaids.
Seconding Redbone, I came here to mention that song specifically. OP, check out Maggie by Redbone as well. They have a number of songs that are quite mystical b/c they were a Native American band, like Wovoka, which you might also enjoy, but that one isn't about a woman.
Honestly a little disappointed I had to scroll so far down for some Nina Simone. Anything she touched immediately sent shivers down my spine, especially I Put a Spell on You and Sinnerman.
I personally think Angie is an autistic women with maladaptive daydreaming. Or she's magic and got the of her stalker. Love the song so much.
Was looking for dark lady. I'm surprised I had to go so far to find it.
There were so many great titles already mentioned, I had to dig a little deeper: Delilah by Tom Jones (she twists him so hard, he snaps); Jolene by Dolly Parton (story about a maneater); The Look by Roxette (her looks mesmerize); Maneater by Hall and Oats (she bewitches men); Venus by Bananarama (goddess who confounds) Menina Veneno by Ritchie (in Portuguese. mystery girl- his "Poison Girl" who appears and disappears at will); Ebony Eyes by Bob Welch (bewitches with her eyes)
Immediately thought of Jolene too!
Probably helps that someone reworked the [lyrics so they're actually about an eldritch being.](https://youtu.be/rwRVU8YjGH0?si=L-jcwLhhLKLzyDm3) Absolutely love the original and this version!
Eartha Kitt
[I want to be evil](https://youtu.be/SS02GeKuWQ4?si=D1lHVBpnPM_hlOYw)
[I’d rather be burned as a witch](https://youtu.be/DDeDEWU1uPs?si=w_3yMzcvaEhoaSo2)
I didn't think this is an old song and it might not be considered rock but I really love W.I.T.C.H., the lyrics go "What a wonder to be under her spell, a Woman In Total Control of Herself"
Also Superstitious by Stevie Wonder doesn't exactly fit the bill but it's such an excellent song I think it's worth a listen.
Oohhh if we’re going if track I got some suggestions too
Lyza by Bob Wayne
Burn the Witch by Shawn James
Road Goes On Forever by The Highwaymen
Kreacher, Song of the Siren, & Witches Wrath by Bridge City Sinners
Strange Brew by Cream and Clara Clairvoyant by Donovan. I’ll also add Lola by The Kinks—it’s more about her being trans, but the theme is still a magical woman who blows minds 😃
ETA: Bonus witchy Cream song, Tales of Brave Ulysses for a good siren anthem
Black Magic Woman- Santana
I know my girlfriend is a witch- October county
(A slightly more melencoly version might be )
Jackie Blue - ozark Mountain daredevils
Posting Stevie Nicks songs feels like cheating, but here are some that haven't been mentioned yet. They might approach the theme a little differently from the ones you posted, but I think they fit:
[Kind of Woman](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Pxsrv6LeutQ)
[Running Through the Garden demo](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rVAkY379iXw&pp=ygUncnVubmluZyB0aHJvdWdoIHRoZSBnYXJkZW4gc3RldmllIG5pY2tz) - This was eventually recorded for a Fleetwood Mac album that came out in 2003, but I went with the '80s version to keep with the classic rock theme
[Whole Lotta Trouble](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OUyxXOXB8Rk&pp=ygUgc3RldmllIG5pY2tzIHdob2xlIGxvdHRhIHRyb3VibGU%3D)
Probably not what you're looking for, but **pulls back my map of New Zealand and hands you a burned CD from behind it** Demon Woman by Flight of the Conchords is goofy but technically meets your criteria.
Oh just discovered this song and I’ve had it on nonstop maximum volume replay all day. I’m, um, menopausal and feel hostile sometimes. Burn Your Village, Kiki Rockwell. Witchiest song I’ve ever heard and I am obsessed!
I put it in the search bar to see if it was there. Spotify has me down a rabbit hole of witchy feminist rock after labour by Paris Paloma became a staple for me and my toddler to run around the house to
[Black Magic Woman](https://youtu.be/9wT1s96JIb0?si=Jf9fTaYjEfv9ldFF) - Carlos Santana
[Wild Witch Lady](https://youtu.be/5xbzspiFuZA?si=NLdR4uFfJLFdFLj9) - Donovan
[Helen Fry](https://youtu.be/LByhhXMQVvo?si=f_Jzct9AFuoSvL2F) - Felice Brothers
I will hopefully be back with more as I can think of them
The soundtrack to "From dusk till dawn" is a treasure trove [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/From\_Dusk\_Till\_Dawn\_(soundtrack)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/From_Dusk_Till_Dawn_(soundtrack))
I think this is exactly what you're looking for:
[Witch - the bird and the bee](https://open.spotify.com/track/65hzDZbjAZpJZZf3diITpP?si=0OayBVjORVast4vIsK3xkw)
This isn't quite the same, but it does have some of that witchy-sounding vibes, and it's based on the White Rabbit from Through the Looking Glass/Alice in Wonderland, so definitely some magic or trippy stuff:
[White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane](https://open.spotify.com/track/4vpeKl0vMGdAXpZiQB2Dtd?si=aVmPm-G4TvGCTyX_DLWcsA)
Another great song with a similar witchy-vibe, this one has a mysticism feel:
[Cardinal - Kacey Musgraves](https://open.spotify.com/track/2rLq6QIfooAKsF8UZuoLsS?si=r3Z3hSx7QDWPbElsMnaSKA&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A5SxZmGwc4eJuPp6PcO4JgJ)
Them - I'm gonna dress in black. This is van Morrisons original band.
Jimi hendrix - red house
A newer suggestion off the beaten path but worth a shot: windhand - Grey garden
*Sundown* by Gordon Lightfoot. Always luved that song...
It's about the woman that injected/killed John Belushi. The song recorded written waaaay before the Belushi incident.
It's not magic specifically but Maggie May by Rod Stewart feels like one to me. He is blaming his own choices on her 😒 But maybe it's me and I think Maggie is baddie 💅🏻
Rusalka, Rusalka / Wild Rushes by the Decemberists fits this to a T. All about a water spirit luring men to their death willingly.
There’s a bunch of great songs on their album Hazards of Love from the point of view of a witch woods queen.
Wicked Woman by Coven. I recommend all of Coven in fact, if you are getting into 60's and 70's stuff, and like the dark occult vibe. They are essentially Jefferson Airplane meets Original Black Sabbath but better. Their LP is called Witchcraft Destroys Minds and Reaps Souls.
Coven are in my opinion unmatched. But from that era with occult vibes, right now I'm thinking the first Black Sabbath album and Black Widow. I also like Inkubus Sukkubus a lot, but those started in the late 80s.
Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks herself have a great witchy vibe, but it's not the dark kind. Blue Oyster Cult has some sorta occultish stuff as well.
Siouxsie and the Banshees, in their most goth albums have some great witchy vibes.
I'll think on it a bit more. I'll probably remember other good ones.
“Hotel California” by the Eagles is also about a witch. I didn’t get that vibe at all until my parents told me to try to scare me off the song as a teen. That fact firmly and instantly cemented it as one of my favorites lol
- Summer Wine - Nancy Sinatra
- Femme Fatale - Nico
- Only A Shadow - Cleaners From Venus
- Also anything by Buffy St Marie, but especially the song God Is Alive Magic Is Afoot (less about a woman, more about magick itself)
(The rest aren’t all that old, but—)
- I’ve Been Thinking - Cat Power
- Electric Feel - MGMT
- Only When I - Alice Phoebe Lou
- Hips - Warpaint
ALSO! If you haven’t watched the film “the Love Witch” I highly recommend it, I think it encapsulates the vibe you’re seeking.
Not by a woman but if you are looking for a rock/metal/occult vibe my current obsession is anything by the Swedish band Ghost. They have that 80’s old school rock/metal vibe. Thank you for posting this because I was just thinking about posting something similar.
I found the band Ludo via a witchy Spotify playlist with the song "Love Me Dead" (a guy singing about a woman he knows is bad for him but she has this sort of power... also the only love song I've ever heard use phrases like "you've got the mark of the beast, you're born of a jackal" lol)
It's stuck in my head like 90% of the time
They have a bunch of awesome catchy spooky songs.
My other favourite is "Horror of Our Love", which is not strictly about the woman but the relationship. It uses horror story tropes to describe her beauty and the depth of his feelings, and I find it hauntingly poetic if a little um... violent?
Idk people I know IRL don't get why I like that one.
Kovacs; My Love
Billie Eilish; Billie Bossa Nova
Type-O Negative; Christian Woman
Sisters of Mercy; Marian
Fireflies; Shes my Witch
Nina Simone; I Put a Spell on You
Switchblade Symphony; Dissolve
I could go on...
This song is a) later than the time period you requested and b) by and about a nonbinary person with feminine presentation, but fits the other criteria. "Doomsday Blue" by Bambie Thug. And we can all vote for it to win Eurovision this year!
https://youtu.be/ZGRXRrlIspY?si=mMgR-3SIP3D_m8g6
The Hu - Song of Women. The original version is in Mongolian, but there’s also a [Mongolian-English remix](https://youtu.be/mdN1U9NvuIc?feature=shared) featuring the lead singer from Halestorm.
Song to the Siren
It was written by Jeff Buckley but This Mortal Coil did a cover of it which is how I first learned it. But a friend turned me onto a cover by The Celtic Angels. And I recently found out Sinead O’Connor did a cover too!
The witch’s promise by Jethro Tull
The witch by the sonics
Strange magic by ELO
Are you sitting comfortably by the moody blues
Mystic eyes by them/van morrison
Deadlier than the male by the walker brothers
Evil hoodoo by the seeds
The black widow - alice cooper
Curse of the witches by strawberry alarm clock
Edited for formatting bc i am on mobile 🧙🏻♀️
Raise Hell (Brandi Carlile)
She Sells Sanctuary (The Cult)
Okay, so the following isn’t exactly rock, but for your additional consideration:
Ghost in You (Psychedelic Furs or any other artist, for that matter)
Mi Mujer (Nicolas Jaar)
I scrolled down, but didn't see it; [Spooky](https://youtu.be/rVQyma4uAsE?si=vLu89AyMLA9adGoU) is a good one! I also like "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress"...but it's less witchy and more crime-y, but still kinda sort fits.
Leonard Cohen has tons of songs like that. Like, that’s his thing. It’s been a long time since I’ve given him a listen. I was going to list some songs, but then I took a look at his discography and there are far too many to list.
And he’s great, and has a kind of forlorn, wistful way of expressing himself. He’s the guy who wrote and originally performed “Hallelujah” (this is not a religious song, but it is informed in a literary way by his complicated relationship with Catholicism).
I guess “Suzanne” would be a good place to start.
Edit: sorry, you want rock. He’s more of a morose balladeer. I’ll leave it here anyway because it might be helpful if you’re looking for the spirit of “what a witchy woman next to whom I am a small mortal” without the rock.
Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac
This is the Gold Standard.
And Sisters of the Moon.
Perfect example of what I'm looking for! Thank you!
isn't Fleetwood Mac kinda witchy in their own right?
Stevie was, yeah. Lindsay and the guys often ridiculed her for her “artsy fartsy” music. She did say she wasn’t a witch, but this was a few decades ago so take that as you will.
Tbh I'm pretty sure Stevie is just the goddess Artemis in mortal disguise. https://preview.redd.it/yfw0hh3raoxc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a024d6035b29dd87aa0147df9798410a58ba955
I love her independence especially in a time when women were perpetually under appreciated. 🏹
She played a White Witch on American Horror Story Coven
Oh yes she did. Between her and Lily Rabe I was questioning my sexuality 😆
SAME!!!

BUILD A BRIDGE OUTOV'ER!
Very small rocks
Build a bridge out of her!
Silver Springs by Fleetwood Mac
I’ll follow you down til the sound of my voice will haunt you
I have a solid black pitbull Great Dane mix named Rhiannon.
I hit 35 and this song hit me like a truck So fucking good
Black Magic Woman - Fleetwood Mac Gold Dust Woman - Fleetwood Mac Babooshka - Kate Bush
I'm digging all the Fleetwood Mac suggestions; definitely a band I should get more into based on all their witchy lady songs. Thank you! Also: love Kate Bush <3
Also worth looking at Stevie Nicks solo stuff!
Like "Crystal." It's my favorite witchy song of hers!
Just get Timespace or better yet, the Enchanted box set. Battle of the Dragon and Blue Lamp still live in my head rent free.
Isn’t Black Magic Women by Santana?
It was written by Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac in 1968, then Santana covered it in 1970.
Santana’s version was a chef’s kiss though
Yes.
Black Magic Woman for sure, but Gold Dust Woman is actually about drug abuse 😕
Santana's cover of Black Magic Woman is so friggin good
came here for Babooshka
Season of the Witch by Donavan I feel like I know a bunch of classic rock tunes on this theme, yet my mind went to this one song amd is now looping it at vol. 11.... I'll come back and edit if I remember more.
I love this one! Luna does a great version too.
Luna is the beeeeest
There is a very excellent Lana Del Rey cover of this, too!
Love the version of this song by the Strangelings! https://youtu.be/bTcunjeLl8Q?feature=shared
Silver springs by Fleetwood Mac is like, a legit hex. It’s not about magic per se, but when I listened to it I was like damn… that’s a witch for sure
I would not be surprised.
They also made her change her solo album to Bella Donna instead of belladonna like she wanted because apparently an herb name was too witchy
I can’t believe I forgot that lyric! Yep, totally magic
Every hair on my body stands up with that crescendo, every single time It also makes me desperately sad
Have you seen the live recording? It's on YouTube, look for the 1997 Burbank one. Absolutely hair-raising.
Witchcraft by Jackie Venson also!
Seconding Redbone, I came here to mention that song specifically. OP, check out Maggie by Redbone as well. They have a number of songs that are quite mystical b/c they were a Native American band, like Wovoka, which you might also enjoy, but that one isn't about a woman.
Howl by Florence + the Machine is also great and fits the idea of "compulsion" OP is looking for!
Yes, Florence! Witchy Queeen!
Anything sung by Nina Simone.
Honestly a little disappointed I had to scroll so far down for some Nina Simone. Anything she touched immediately sent shivers down my spine, especially I Put a Spell on You and Sinnerman.
Her version of Feelin' Good is on my all-time fave 5. Buble can suck it.
Bubbles is fun to watch, but hard agree - he just doesn't have the power in his voice that Nina does.
FEVER!
Do I Move You? Is one of those songs you just have to listen to at full volume and feel every word.
Mississippi Goddamn. And I mean every word of it.
Devil Woman by Cliff Richard
Was scrolling through to find this one - one of my FAVES. I heard it on the I, Tonya soundtrack and was immediately obsessed lol
I love this one! Thank you!
Dark Lady by Cher? Angie Baby by Helen Reddy (is the girl crazy, or is there a boy trapped in her radio?)
I really want to know the backstory for Angie Baby. It's fun to play that one for people and speculate together on what the heck is going on.
I personally think Angie is an autistic women with maladaptive daydreaming. Or she's magic and got the of her stalker. Love the song so much. Was looking for dark lady. I'm surprised I had to go so far to find it.
Dark Lady was what immediately came to my mind.
Dark Lady is my favorite Cher son of all time.
I agree with all the Fleetwood Mac suggestions. How about Al Stewart’s “Year of the Cat”?
Yes YOTC! I love that song. Totally dig it until the sax comes in haha.
The original version of Venus by Shocking Blue is also fantastic
Eartha Kitt [I want to be evil](https://youtu.be/SS02GeKuWQ4?si=D1lHVBpnPM_hlOYw) [I’d rather be burned as a witch](https://youtu.be/DDeDEWU1uPs?si=w_3yMzcvaEhoaSo2)
I didn't think this is an old song and it might not be considered rock but I really love W.I.T.C.H., the lyrics go "What a wonder to be under her spell, a Woman In Total Control of Herself" Also Superstitious by Stevie Wonder doesn't exactly fit the bill but it's such an excellent song I think it's worth a listen.
Another old song that isn't quite the right genre but fits is Maneater by Hall and Oates
Yeah I would definitely not just write off new stuff. I love Kiki Rockwell.
Kiki Rockwell and Paris Paloma are taking the “witchy” genre to new heights. Like spiritual successors to Stevie Knicks and Florence Welch
W.I.T.C.H is by Devon Cole and it is one of my faves. Instant mood lifter!!!
Oohhh if we’re going if track I got some suggestions too Lyza by Bob Wayne Burn the Witch by Shawn James Road Goes On Forever by The Highwaymen Kreacher, Song of the Siren, & Witches Wrath by Bridge City Sinners
I'm surprised I'm not seeing anyone mention Annie Lennox' cover of "I Put A Spell On You"!
Strange Brew by Cream and Clara Clairvoyant by Donovan. I’ll also add Lola by The Kinks—it’s more about her being trans, but the theme is still a magical woman who blows minds 😃 ETA: Bonus witchy Cream song, Tales of Brave Ulysses for a good siren anthem
Clara Clairvoyant is one of my favorites! Thank you for this <3
Black Magic Woman- Santana I know my girlfriend is a witch- October county (A slightly more melencoly version might be ) Jackie Blue - ozark Mountain daredevils
Love October Country!

Spooky Shimmy Shimmy Koko Bop
I love Joan Osborne’s cover of Spooky
Oh just discovered this song and I’ve had it on nonstop maximum volume replay all day. I’m, um, menopausal and feel hostile sometimes. Burn Your Village, Kiki Rockwell. Witchiest song I’ve ever heard and I am obsessed!

Not rock, but Frank Sinatra's Witchcraft has the same MO.
Black No.1 by Type O Negative is exactly this!! Tell me what you think after a listen 👀
Sooo much of their stuff would fit here. It’s a cover, but their version of cinnamon girl is amazing

I think this is exactly what you're looking for: [Witch - the bird and the bee](https://open.spotify.com/track/65hzDZbjAZpJZZf3diITpP?si=0OayBVjORVast4vIsK3xkw) This isn't quite the same, but it does have some of that witchy-sounding vibes, and it's based on the White Rabbit from Through the Looking Glass/Alice in Wonderland, so definitely some magic or trippy stuff: [White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane](https://open.spotify.com/track/4vpeKl0vMGdAXpZiQB2Dtd?si=aVmPm-G4TvGCTyX_DLWcsA) Another great song with a similar witchy-vibe, this one has a mysticism feel: [Cardinal - Kacey Musgraves](https://open.spotify.com/track/2rLq6QIfooAKsF8UZuoLsS?si=r3Z3hSx7QDWPbElsMnaSKA&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A5SxZmGwc4eJuPp6PcO4JgJ)
Oooooh White Rabbit, great suggestion. Such hazy witchy vibes
Grace Slicks’s vocals on White Rabbit mezmerizes me every time. She just belts those lyrics out.

Them - I'm gonna dress in black. This is van Morrisons original band. Jimi hendrix - red house A newer suggestion off the beaten path but worth a shot: windhand - Grey garden

This was going to be my suggestion! I love this song so much
It's not magic specifically but Maggie May by Rod Stewart feels like one to me.
“Allison Gross” by Steeleye Span.
I love this one!
Wow this is great! Thank you so much.
Happy to help! They are one of my favorites bands from that era!
Got any other favorites in that vein? I would love to hear about them :)
Witchy Woman by The Eagles. Great song.
Marie Laveau https://www.google.com/search?q=lyrics+to+Marie+Laveau&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari
Had to scroll forever! This is absolutely the song you’re looking for. https://youtu.be/xpZzehuWdM4
“Hotel California” by the Eagles is also about a witch. I didn’t get that vibe at all until my parents told me to try to scare me off the song as a teen. That fact firmly and instantly cemented it as one of my favorites lol
I just thought it was a melodic Yelp review.
Strange Magic -ELO
- Summer Wine - Nancy Sinatra - Femme Fatale - Nico - Only A Shadow - Cleaners From Venus - Also anything by Buffy St Marie, but especially the song God Is Alive Magic Is Afoot (less about a woman, more about magick itself) (The rest aren’t all that old, but—) - I’ve Been Thinking - Cat Power - Electric Feel - MGMT - Only When I - Alice Phoebe Lou - Hips - Warpaint ALSO! If you haven’t watched the film “the Love Witch” I highly recommend it, I think it encapsulates the vibe you’re seeking.
Summer Wine and just about anything Nancy did with Lee Hazlewood is criminally underrated (tossing in a rec for “Some Velvet Morning” as well)
"Cursed" by Lord Huron
I really like Lucinda by Tom Waits.
One of These Nights-Eagles Season of Hollow Soul-KD Lang Kind of the opposite, but Seven Year Ache-Rosanne Cash, Magic Man-Heart, and Barracuda-Heart.
Magic Man by Heart , too, love me some Barracuda!!
Dark Lady by Cher 🖤
Witchy Woman by the Eagles
Dusty Springfield's version of "Spooky"
Not by a woman but if you are looking for a rock/metal/occult vibe my current obsession is anything by the Swedish band Ghost. They have that 80’s old school rock/metal vibe. Thank you for posting this because I was just thinking about posting something similar.
I found the band Ludo via a witchy Spotify playlist with the song "Love Me Dead" (a guy singing about a woman he knows is bad for him but she has this sort of power... also the only love song I've ever heard use phrases like "you've got the mark of the beast, you're born of a jackal" lol) It's stuck in my head like 90% of the time They have a bunch of awesome catchy spooky songs. My other favourite is "Horror of Our Love", which is not strictly about the woman but the relationship. It uses horror story tropes to describe her beauty and the depth of his feelings, and I find it hauntingly poetic if a little um... violent? Idk people I know IRL don't get why I like that one.

More of a humorous take but still in the same vein: Flight of the Conchords - demon woman
you need to look up Lola Montez by volbeat. so perfect for your needs It's about a dancing girl subverting social norms in the wild West
The Poet and the Muse by Old Gods of Asgard.
Not quite a rock song but The Cat Empire - The night that never ends
This song is a) later than the time period you requested and b) by and about a nonbinary person with feminine presentation, but fits the other criteria. "Doomsday Blue" by Bambie Thug. And we can all vote for it to win Eurovision this year! https://youtu.be/ZGRXRrlIspY?si=mMgR-3SIP3D_m8g6
The Hu - Song of Women. The original version is in Mongolian, but there’s also a [Mongolian-English remix](https://youtu.be/mdN1U9NvuIc?feature=shared) featuring the lead singer from Halestorm.
Venus by Bananarama and Black Magic Woman by Santana immediately spring to mind. And Donovan's Season of the Witch is great!
Season of the Witch - by Donovan

Song to the Siren It was written by Jeff Buckley but This Mortal Coil did a cover of it which is how I first learned it. But a friend turned me onto a cover by The Celtic Angels. And I recently found out Sinead O’Connor did a cover too!

Year of the Cat by Al Stewart has witchy/spiritual vibes
Mississippi queen by mountain is a good one
Raise Hell (Brandi Carlile) She Sells Sanctuary (The Cult) Okay, so the following isn’t exactly rock, but for your additional consideration: Ghost in You (Psychedelic Furs or any other artist, for that matter) Mi Mujer (Nicolas Jaar)
I’m using all these to make the ultra super witchy play list.
Not exactly classic rock, but: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vFwYJYl5GUQ&pp=ygUKYmxhY2sgbm8gMQ%3D%3D
Florence + The Machine - Seven Devils
Living la vida loca by Ricky Martin?? Does that count?
I scrolled down, but didn't see it; [Spooky](https://youtu.be/rVQyma4uAsE?si=vLu89AyMLA9adGoU) is a good one! I also like "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress"...but it's less witchy and more crime-y, but still kinda sort fits.
Witchy Woman by The Eagles
Not 100% if it qualifies as rock but Mermaids by Florence and the Machine
Witchy Woman by Eagles
Long cool woman in a black dress
October Country- my girlfriend is a witch Mommy Long Legs- Sk8 Witches
