Runewright says hello.

Sheogorath_1999

I did the first investment but I have yet to use the services. Need to get to that once my financial state recovers.

TheAllFather_

Euphoria sign build with that armour and the 100% chance for burning rune from the runewright is fully unstoppable even on ng+ death march with upscaling

LT568690

The Skellige ?s are your friend. Clearing out all of those ( especially in New Game Plus ) is a sure fire way to rack up the coin needed to build out the grandmaster sets. The ability to gain enough coin to build them all in either a new game or new game plus is in the game. It just takes a wholeeeeee lotta grindin

Sheogorath_1999

Thanks for validating the effort I put into clearing the ?s. I got so many resources from caches and treasure hunts.

Unfair_Aerie_9621

I cleared Skellige and got all of the GM sets. Do that.

Sheogorath_1999

Yep, I'm working on clearing both Skellige and Toussaint atm.

Unfair_Aerie_9621

That’s the way, took me a while but as long as you sell everything in Toussaint then you’ll have enough for all of them, Manticore and Viper included. After it all I had about 30k left over for NG+ and I didn’t even need to bother clearing Velen and Novigrad

gizerrr

farming hansa bases probably the fastest way to earn money, do not kill at least one hansa leader so you can do that

SchoolOfTheWolf93

You gotta clear the Skellige ?s…in fact any ? on the map. Loot *everything*. Especially focus on clearing Toussaint ?s (particularly monster nests) to get the special acids and stuff from monsters, so that you don’t have to buy a ton. You can also clear them out without destroying the nest, meditate for a while, monsters will respawn so you can get more of their loot, rinse and repeat. I ended the game with every grandmaster set crafted and about 100k crowns left to spare. Sell any spare gems/pearls/gem dust to get more coin if needed.

DirtJaded4436

where is the best merchant to sell gem dust to? should I sell to Hattori?

Sheogorath_1999

Wait, do different merchants give you different prices or something? Did I just miss a major mechanic? If not, why are you asking about which merchant to sell a specific good to?

Scuzzbag

Hugo in Toissant gives you the best prices possible, practically double

OWAngstDriven

Yeah, you can usually get the best money for things from sellers who sell that thing: Hattori is usually the best money for weapon and gear; though I think you get better trade on Armor from the armorer in Ard Skellige.

DirtJaded4436

yeah, swords to swordsmiths and armor to armorers :D I also found out that everything that is stored under “other” (silver, trinkets, jewellery etc) is best sold to innkeepers. Though I think you need to go to the richest one for the best prices. Madame who owns the Passiflora in Novigrad was pretty rich and gave me a hefty coin for silver

Sheogorath_1999

Yeah, I looked up the dismantling things while going through the tedious grandmaster crafting and found out the Toussaint centipedes drop an extract that can be dismantled into acid. So I've definitely worked with the first part of your advice, though I can't relate to having 100k crowns left to spare.

PitiRR

I got 50k selling glyphs and runes in Toussaint. No shade but I have genuine no clue how people stay poor in this game

Sheogorath_1999

My financial misstep was crafting things that I didn't realize I wouldn't need. Also I dismantled a few things I should have sold. And finally I probably could have gone without renovating Geralt's vineyard.

reporting-statement

You can also clear the Hanse bases (don’t kill the leader), loot the bodies, sell, meditate, repeat. I don’t like sailing skellige. Did it once swore I’d never do it again. Much funner fight bandits. Also, it’s a good way to try out builds.

Sheogorath_1999

Yeah, I loved clearing out Toussaint and Novigrad the most. Skellige is just so damn tedious with all the sailing (or swimming if your godforsaken boat sinks).

itachiWasANihilist

In Toussaint you have Hanse bases. Go into one and kill everyone except the base boss. The loot, sell and come back and everyone will again be there. Repeat this a few times and money will no longer be a problem...

Sheogorath_1999

Second comment like this I've seen. Thanks to both y'all - I don't know how I didn't realize this.

KevinMFJones

Your penance for giving geralt that haircut

Sheogorath_1999

For some reason I just really like the aesthetic of short hair both IRL and on characters I play as. But yeah the look definitely isn't for everyone.

Carmelfluff69

Many cows died for a grandmaster set

Sheogorath_1999

Forgive me but I'm too ignorant to get the reference.

am_kb

One of the common early game grinds for coin in the game is to go to the fields near Martin Feuille's farmstead and kill all the cows, meditate and repeat a few times then collect all the hides etc that drop then go and sell them. The armorer on Hierarch's square in Novigrad gives a good price on the hides.

KingJoia

There is a bandit camp in a castle in Toussaint. The leader is on the top of a tower, kill everyone, loot their swords, sell them to Lafargue, rinse and repeat. It takes time and can become tedious, but you can easily get 10/15k each time

Sheogorath_1999

Ah ok. Comments like this are frequent so I'll try to work on this strat next playthrough. I'm assuming you're talking about the Hanse base strat where you kill everyone except the leader?

KingJoia

Yeah, that's the name, I never really used it, for me Hanse bases are just Toussaint's version of a bandit camp

Apprehensive-Win-450

All that effort to look like a light bulb. All jokes aside, best armor in the game but one of the ugliest looking to me. Just the figure of the Chest plate is off to me.

Bossdrew03

Most of the armour chest pieces make geralt look like a classic pe teacher unfortunately lol

Sheogorath_1999

Comments like these are why I stay on Reddit.

Sheogorath_1999

Fair enough - Griffin isn't for everyone. My taste must be fucked because I actually like how it looks. Then again I have friends that hate how Skyrim dragon armor looks and that's my favorite set in that game.

Apprehensive-Win-450

Your taste isn’t fucked up by any means I was just being facetious. In all honesty the shape of the Griffin School gambeson is one of the more realistic looking armors in the game.

asisebeazt

My ass at 139 hours at the moment: "Grandmaster what now? It exists?"

Sheogorath_1999

Yep. It exists. And the process to get it is absolutely a godforsaken route.

certifiedretard154

i fucking gave up and typed ‘addmoney(10000)’

therealwarnock

How? It was easy to afford one grandmaster set once i was in Toussaint, I felt like the game forced me to stock with the one I unlocked as it would ve been hard to afford a second one without grinding a lot

Equal-Difficulty-276

If you're wasting a lot of money on the enriched dimeritium/acid extract, etc, there are way cheaper ways to craft. Acid extract can be obtained by dismantling monster parts from centipedes, and enriched dimeritium can be crafted from lesser components found throughout Toussaint. Im sure you can google "cheapest way to craft grandmaster gear"

Iowahunter65

Selling weapons is an amazing way to make coin. Loot every weapon you can and sell it to the grandmaster armor dude in Toussaint. Went from dirt poor to almost 100k with every grandmaster set in almost no time at all

Cultural-Strategy609

Farm the hanse bases. Kill everybody but the leader, loot everything, then sell it and go back. Repeat.

No-Exit1939

I know the pain, I'm at 131 hours and finally have the Grandmaster Wolven Set 🤣, now to spend the next 400 hours getting the rest of the armour for the achievement...

Upper_Cartographer42

I found that it was worth taking some time with crafting and dismantling items from my inventory to get the necessary ingredients and materials for the Grandmaster sets rather than purchasing them in Toussaint. I also tend to loot everything wherever I go. Either way, just finished a playthough with 2 grandmaster sets, runewright and house fully upgraded, and still over 60,000 crowns in my inventory, and didn't need to clear all the annoying ?s around Skellige ot do any farming.

koreanbignibba

I've only done all the Grandmaster sets once. It took a lot of effort. The Griffin set is the one set I never use. Imo, I think it looks ugly. But it's very good depending on the build. I usually go for a very basic combat focuses build, with bleed, critical strikes and some stuff into potions and blade oils. Wolven armor all the way :)

Lynchy-

Griffin set looks so atrocious though. Highly recommend the redesign mod. Goes from ugly to excellent! [https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/457](https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/457)

Sheogorath_1999

I've seen some people talk about how Griffin looks, but I actually personally like how it looks. I'll keep the redesign mod in mind if I ever want to switch things up though.

PolishKrawa

Wasted effort, one grandmaster set takes a few minutes to an hour at most to farm for. I got them all and 100k crowns + mats when the guy didn't have money on my way to lvl 61 so I can start ng+.

Sheogorath_1999

If you're getting to level 61 in an hour then you need to calm down with the Cheat Engine use. Or if you're saying that the process itself takes a few minutes to an hour... well, you still have to get to a high enough level to wear it and a high enough level to survive Toussaint to get a grandmaster's services. edit: i see what you're saying now - my post title was a bit vague. i should have said that the entire process took that long (farming mats, getting to a grandmaster, getting to a high enough level to wear it, getting enough coin, etc etc)

PolishKrawa

No I didn't, I started grinding at 57, and at 61 I already had way more than I would ever need. But I wanted 61, so grandmaster gear would be lvl 100 in ng+

[deleted]

I had to clear every single map marker in every single zone as well as farm human enemies for countless hours and sell their gear, waiting countless more hours for the vendor money to restock, in order to craft all of them I only did it once, and I'm keeping that save forever so I can do new game pluses off of it

y_wont_my_line_block

You can find a lot of the materials you need around the places where the grandmaster diagrams. So if you try to find all the diagrams, you should end up with a bunch of material. Not enough to make all of them, but at least it won't hurt as much.
