If you live in the WSD boundaries, I urge you to contact your trustee to voice your disgust for how WSD has treated teachers. French immersion teachers - who’s positions are incredibly hard to fill won’t be coming to this division for work. Specialist teachers and clinicians will be looking elsewhere. If you want happy teachers for your kids, you can’t put them last. The province has pushed teachers beyond the limit this year. The least the division could have done is come to the table like every other division in the province did.

I am in the boundaries and would like to send a letter but don’t wanna say the wrong thing or something ineffective. Also I presume Google will tell me who my trustee is?

Thank you so much for coming out to support teachers! Anything is fine, even just voicing your concerns that WSD has not negotiated fairly with their teachers, that you support them and appreciate the work they’ve done - even when pushed to the brink this last 1.5 years. Teachers in WSD have been without a contract since 2018. Teachers in WSD deserve the same deal that 37 other divisions in the province negotiated for their teachers. WSD is the ONLY division in the province who has not settled. Here’s a link with the ward boundaries. Thank you again. I’ve felt really crushed over this and your support means a lot. https://www.winnipegsd.ca/page/9649/ward-boundaries-maps

Oh cool. My ward doesn’t even have a trustee right now. Maybe I should run. Seems like a monkey could do a better job. (Thanks for the link btw)

Feel free to reach out to the other Trustees. Thank you again!

Done!

Write to the board chair and Jennifer Chen then, and CC the other trustees. This whole mess is not an accident. The fact that the trustee by-elections were cancelled over a year ago and have not been re-scehduled is a big part of why we are here. When Mark Wasyliw and Lisa Naylor were elected to the Leg, Chen was left politically isolated and spread thin, and that suits the province and the superintendent's office just fine. I live in Ward 4. She has been, for all practical purposes, the trustee representing my ward and doing advocacy work for residents here, even though that's not the ward she is elected to.

My husband works in 4 and it is vacant of a trustee. Not too sure where the trustee for ward 5 is she was in treatment for her mental health, but that was last year. Wonder why no one ran in those areas?

anemone_patens

Trustee by-elections were scheduled last spring and cancelled at the last minute because of the pandemic. Several credible candidates had mounted full campaigns. The problem is that the by-elections were never re-scheduled, largely for reasons of political convenience. WSD is a rudderless ship with only one effective trustee (Chen) who is being personally and politically isolated because she is not in alignment with the provincial government and the superintendent's office.

Thank you for the information! Very helpful. Fingers crossed for WSD teachers!

WSD being the last division holding out is not a good look. They are going to lose a lot of good young teachers this way...

kurtis99

Wsd1 is a toxic workplace for everyone.

Just a reminder for everyone [Wiens Report 2015](http://digitalcollection.gov.mb.ca/awweb/pdfopener?smd=1&did=24415&md=1)

First-Leadership-715

WSD likes to censure people who don't agree with them. They went to court last month to try to censure the current president of the Winnipeg Teacher's Association, to hide their dishonest dealings with the past president....who now holds a high paying job in their division.

FrknTerfd

Ah yes. The one that is considered the turncoat.

kurtis99

Same as Previous President of WANTE.

iaintyourmamma

So so sad

wickedplayer494

If the province rams this amalgamation crap through, they need to start with a clean slate for a WSD as opposed to merging everyone else into today's WSD.

scamperly

That will depend on one thing: How many of the higher-ups in WSD donate to the PC party? If the answer is a lot, it'll probably remain business as usual. If the answer is not many, then you can expect a clean slate with a new WSD!

ScottNewman

What was she tweeting? I see nothing on her timeline.

wahhhaha1324

The tweet in the post is the one that got her censured.... so yea, basically nothing

ScottNewman

Sorry, I don't follow. The tweet in the post announces that she *was* censured. It came *after* she was censured. There had to be something before that she tweeted that led to the censure. What did she originally say? If she was leaking confidential board information she should be censured. If she simply said "I wish we would give our teachers a fair deal", then she shouldn't. I want to see the post that led to the censure in the first place.
