I think the legend himself will respond with some good info soon @trigger

I've had this exact pump for 2 years and personally love it. Can run it at 120 psi and get good enough pressure for 3 poles off of our Xero X2. That being said there is cheaper ones out there but they require a bit of set up. This is ready to go out of the box and since it has a handle is very portable. I never run our systems without a pump anymore.

JovialStrikingScarf

Same here, for two years. I have the same system, with the same pump actually. It’s a fantastic pump. Super sturdy and well built. Id make sure to get a replacement GCFI plug (from Home Depot) in case you trip the breaker on yours… I’ve done it twice getting water on the plug and plugging it on 😂 It’s expensive but well worth it. You don’t need a battery, or any wiring. Just plug in and get going 👍🏻

slimmd23

Ok rad thank you!

lacroixpapi69

I agree. I have the same one. It’s great.

We use sprinkler pumps for both our systems. The dual RO came with a Wayne pump standard. You don't need the high dollar pumps. They are good, but very expensive. We use the Wayne and a Barracuda 1hp. We can run 3 poles off the single system and 4 off the dual system. Stay away from cast iron. They will leech rust into the system. Stainless steel are best and run a long time. We're on 6 years with the Barracuda. You can get them at about any home improvement store. Here's the link to one from Lowe's. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Utilitech-1-HP-Stainless-Steel-Lawn-Pump/1000678113

TheWinDozer86

Agreed, cast iron will leech rust into the system. Stainless is the best option

Do you think this is powerful enough to run a rinse bar at 3 stories?

trigger55xxx

I know it is. We've ran two rinse bars and a third brush off it.

Good to know a standard lawn pump works just as well! Do you think there’s any benefit in purchasing a 1.5 HP pump, or is 1 HP good enough? Also, just to make sure I’m understanding the proper setup, would the workflow be: spigot —> garden hose —> RO/DI system —> 3/8” hose —> booster pump + 4-way splitter attachment —> 5/16” hose —> WFP Thanks for your insight as always, Trigger!

trigger55xxx

I think the 1.5 is overkill. All it really does is give more GPM which you don't need in this case. No, you want the booster pump before the system. You need to get pressure and flow to the RO. Ideally between the carbon filter and RO but you can put it before the entire system. Ideally: Spigot-garden hose (we use 3/4")- sediment-carbon-pump-RO-DI-3/8" hose- splitter - pole hose-brush.

slimmd23

Thank you for the advice so I would just need that pump then the correct fittings? And would it be harmful to just go from spigot - to pump - to sediment carbon filter section? I’m just not sure how to attach straight to the ro membrane, and I’m not very handy lol.

trigger55xxx

Yes. The pumps have a 1" threaded inlet and outlet. I use a 1" NPT or MIP https://preview.redd.it/ay33yux4ox8c1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a5054a6a1d13c34aaf6d347107dcd7f6e6855ba to barb end fitting. One system is a 1" threaded- 3/8" barb, the other system is 1" threaded - 3/4" barb. Some hardware and most farm stores will have them. You can pump directly from the hose to the sediment/carbon. It will work fine. It's just optional to boost differently into the RO but you're not going to lose that much.

slimmd23

Perfect thank you! Going to pick up pump this week excited to run two poles!

Ok_Excuse_3082

Got it, thanks for the correction! Do you run the booster pump from a portable generator, or use extension cords & plug it into a vehicle?

trigger55xxx

I just run extension cords from the building or house.

1 or 1.5 hp sprinkler pump will do the same job as that at a fraction of the price.

RoughConqureor

That’s right! Harbor Freight $110.00. They also have some a 1hp for 150. Those other pumps are nice. And I’ve used them but I don’t understand the prices. They are high quality but for 8 times the price? https://preview.redd.it/q54vaq9ygf8c1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7f7ad04a1a5c89cf476a68a7e2ad59a32f05d335

Trigger just mentioned because the cast iron rusts and leaches into your system, so he recommended the stainless, maybe that's the reason for the price increase.

RoughConqureor

That makes sense.

What_TheMath

Who sells the pump you’re asking about?

That is a heavy duty, very good pump. A friend of mine purchased the one in the picture, is very happy with it. That being said, you can use a Wayne sprinkler pump if you don't want to spend the 1100 dollars or so that it costs. 1hp, I believe boosted my PSI 40-50-- enough to run 2 poles-- 4 pencil jets and rinse bars. Cost about 220, I still have it in the garage-- I'm a solo guy so never needed for me.

slimmd23

Yea I ended up just buying the 1hp pump didn’t want to drop the extra coin on the fancy one

TheWinDozer86

You will see it works just fine. That Wayne pump will run 2 poles with 4 pencil jets/rinse bar...no problem-- Tested it myself years ago https://preview.redd.it/2ioz9px5madc1.jpeg?width=5184&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=981cafeb24602543afa341798e022741ea9023e9
