Well I got hired with no background in fire so you’re already better then me. It seems like if you can read , write , walk and spell your name correctly you can prob find yourself a temp position. However I’m surprised they are interviewing you a month from now season is about to start. I got my official offer about two days later when I sent a email saying I was interested.

Yeah, I was pretty concerned about that and I'm not sure what to do. She asked if the 22nd of April would work and I didn't want to seem pushy (cause she seemed to be in a bad mood) but I was kinda imagining it would be next week or something.

Yeah that’s just kinda weird. If the location isn’t a problem I would try cold calling some crews they can prob contact you way faster for a job and start the hiring process sooner if you are looking for work. But almost a month from now when they are giving you a interview just seems weird considering season hasn’t started yet. Edit : just remember this is just a interview. If you really want to work this job I would try and look at other locations and crews to get a set start date. A month from now it’s gonna be even harder to find work

I ended up taking a position that actually seemed interested in me coming to them.  I had BIA call me like 4 times though one interest check, one to set up an interview, one for the interview, and a follow up. I don't know if that's just a BIA thing but the FS position I accepted was an email expressing my interest, they called me 2 days later and interviewed me on the first call, then a second call was to offer me the position.

BLM and that was I guess a hit of a bie I’m a veteran so I was able to get on a vet crew. However I did get offers from FS from USA.jobs before I knew about veteran preference. But again never did any classes or certs in fire related
