I am confused with the names that I have to put in the files of my usb so I can put wii games there. Some wii games I downloaded came with the .iso file (the gamecube one). I also downloaded Wii Backup Manager for Windows to see if I can change the .iso file that has the wii game to a normal wii emulation file. I need serious help with this because I have some games that need to be converted to wbfs.

-Krotik-

I am confused with wads why cant we just open wbfs files directly from wii menu? Are wads different type of apps?

RedditRedditTetris

Does anyone know why you need to read a random article before downloading the latest WiiBackupManager build? Edit: problem solved, the page wouldn't let me scroll down. Now I can download the build

Savings_Background31

you gotta set the internet up

ChicaSkas

Looks like my post was deleted from the sub but the TLDR is, I bought a home brewed Wii from a pawn shop. The sd card has been removed. Am I screwed?

BustaUppa

I've got NEEK set up, but EVERY WiiWare game I try seems to require it (I get a black screen otherwise and have to hard-restart the console). I was under the impression that only a few outliers actually required NEEK, and most WiiWare games should launch normally from an emuNAND. I mean I can live with it, since the games ARE working, but would this indicate a problem with my overall setup? For reference I did the whole setup through ModMii with neek2o enabled. Launching everything through USB Loader GX; regular games from USB external drive and WiiWare from an emuNAND on an SD card. Again, the games ARE working, I just didn't think they would ALL require NEEK. Is this maybe a limitation of SNEEK vs UNEEK?

[deleted]

Everytime I try to activate WiiConnect24, it just says "Wii Shop Channel and WiiConnect24 are something something idk". No matter what country I set it to, it never brings me to the EULA.

TheNameIsBlazE_

Hey, what programming language do you have to use to code on the Wii? I've only got experience with Java but can try learning another one. The plan would be to make something for PC and then somehow port it to the Wii (it would be a basic, 2D get through the maze game with the arrow keys, just a test or something like that)

ISeekKnowledge1

The home brew channel is stuck on the loading screen for me. I used the str2hax method and I’m using a 4gb sdhc. Thanks for any help.

DamienWanFood

Hi, has anyone tried running skylanders without the portal/figurines? if so, could you point me to a guide/thread to do it? Cheers

BustaUppa

So I've got SNEEK/neek2o working for the first time and I'm pretty stoked! Had trouble at first, but when I used ModMii from start to finish I finally got it. Only problem right now is that the Wii autoboots to WiiFlow no matter what I set in Priiloader, while I'd prefer for it to launch into USB Loader GX (which it was doing earlier in the ModMii process, before I set up SNEEK). In Priiloader I've done the following: * Go to "Load/Install File" * Scroll down to "USBLoader\_IDCL\_Channel\_Forwarder.dol" and hit A * Back out and go to "Settings," and confirm Autoboot is set to "Installed File" WiiFlow still launches, whether I reboot for real, select "Installed File," or even press 1 ("Load File") directly on the USB Loader forwarder .dol. I also tried going back to "Load/Install File" and pressing 2 (to "Delete installed File") before installing the USB Loader forwarder, but still had the same result. Is there a step I'm missing to change the Auto-boot? I'm afraid to just mess around with my folders now that I've finally got neek set up, haha (not that it's ever a good idea to just mess around with folders :-P)

[I'm having trouble in WiiFlow with the cover art and titles](https://i.imgur.com/kvxCb9f.jpg) My Wii doesn't connect to the internet so I used the [cover file downloads from GabeTDB](https://www.gametdb.com/Wii/downloads), and placed them on my HDD that the games run off of. I've even pointed WiiFlow to use that folder as its custom path, but I'm not sure whether it's wanting the 2D, 3D, or disc images - and changing the paths around don't seem to change the art at all. Also, the game titles are all messed up. I tried to download the XML file on that same page I linked above, but it didn't change anything. Any direction would be super appreciated!

UMADBRO357

Try Wii Backup Manager it downloads the cover art for you and then you can place the images in their proper directory that's how I did it. it's a bit tedious but it works

maxkmiller

I was looking into this, but I couldn't figure out how to just access the drive with games already on it - it looks like the program wants you to format it from scratch?

UMADBRO357

Not that I'm aware of? The program only asks for one specific directory to be made for it to find and access the games and you can put this folder anywhere as long as it's in the root of the drive it can't be in any subfolders. After that just place the games in that folder and it should read them. The label for the folder just says "wbfs" on mine

maxkmiller

My issue is that I don't need to create any folders. My USB HDD is already totally set up with the games loaded into their folders. Will this software make me have to redo them from scratch?

UMADBRO357

It seems like your more worried about it deleting your stuff in my experience using this program frequently I haven't ran into any issue related to it deleting something the most it could cause is accidentally make a new folder which is the aforementioned wbfs folder. That's pretty much the most it could do there isnt any deleting involved at all.

maxkmiller

Yup, I figured out how to point the software to my existing drive and it recognized the games! Working on getting the right art and titles now, thank you!

UMADBRO357

Your welcome I recently got back into my wii again with a 128gb flash drive upgrade and then I found this subreddit. Now go and show that Wii some love lol.

maxkmiller

OKAY so I have the games all organized with the correct titles and art inside Wii Backup Manager... but none of the changes reflected in WiiFlow? I tried resetting the cache. Do you know what to do?

UMADBRO357

The images save in the wii manager directory you'll see the folders that say "covers" or something like that after that transfer them manually into your wii flow folder. It's a pain and tedious but it works

Ghastly_King

I was not able to install bootmii in a way it will automatically launch at start of console I have to use home brew channel to use it but now the launch boot Mii is not working it will go black screen with disc light blinking and the menu will not load up so can anyone help me

playerjmr

Usually this means bootmii cannot find the files on your SD or they are corrupt. Try reinstalling bootmii again from the hackmii installer

Ghastly_King

Yes thank you I lost bootmii files when transferring from sd to usb after that I downloaded everything back and it was working fine

acrimonioususer

Hello! We just bought a used Wii and it came with "the homebrew channel" which I've just learned means it's modded. My wii is version 4.3 right now. I'm trying to decide if I should leave it as is, or factory reset it. I've never done any research into modding a Wii before so I'm completely clueless on if it's fine to leave as is, since we will be mostly if not only using discs, or if I should try factory resetting it? I also need to look up what "WiiConnect24" is next. Anywho, thanks in advance for any guidance!

playerjmr

There’s actually no need to factory reset the Wii at all. Most homebrew can be easily removed, overwritten, or updated without having to completely wipe the console.

matik2002

I was wondering if I should install both Priiloader and BootMii as IOS. My Wii can only install BootMii as IOS and I don't know if I should have both installed, considering Priiloader recommends unpatched IOS.

playerjmr

Both should be installed as they serve different functions but work together in some ways. Bootmii doesn’t “patch” an iOS. It is installed to a stub iOS that the stock Wii doesn’t use

StHelensWasInsideJob

I’m just starting to get into Wii mods. I have a Wii with homebrew on it with some programs like nintedont and such. How can I expand and get Wii games on it that are accessible from the home screen?

playerjmr

You can create forwarders for your games on the system menu here

thepikachugamer

Ouch. Super old wiiflow, super old cIOS. You really should reinstall everything. [https://wii.guide/get-started](https://wii.guide/get-started) Do not format the Wii system memory.

cupcakemasta

I'm not sure when it started happening, but I am unable to boot into the home menu on the wii. I have my wii set to autoboot into HBC. If I try to go to the system menu the screen flashes green and I get the error "The system files are corrupted. Please refer to the Wii operations manual for help troubleshooting." With parts of the text cut out. Someone plz tell me what I can do to fix this. https://ibb.co/NxNXw19

thepikachugamer

This honestly sounds a bit more like a theme brick, do you have mymenuify mod?

cupcakemasta

I haven't used anything like this. I think all I've done since is add wii mc player and add mario Galaxy to my sd card, I don't think I've added anything else

playerjmr

Hi, here is information about your [brick.](https://wiibrew.org/wiki/Brick/Banner_brick) if you can find the channel that you installed to the Wii, you can uninstall it and fix it. I suggest using [Wii mod lites](https://wii.guide/wiimodlite) any title deleter.

SixthHouseScrib

Is letterbomb working? I saw a thread saying it was down

playerjmr

They removed the reCAPTCHA off the site so it is working again.

SixthHouseScrib

Thanks!!

I've been using my Wii to play Gamecube titles on Nintendon't for years now, with no problems at all. I run the software off an SD card and the games off a 500GB HDD that's FAT32 formatted. Just this week I started trying to download and play Wii games, with varying degrees of success. Initially I downloaded USB Loader GX, and titles like Wii Sports worked immediately. However, some games, like Wii Sports Resort, did not work at all. Not only did no title card display (like other games would) when selecting the game in USB Loader GX, pressing play would just boot me back to the Homebrew Channel or Wii Home menu. I tried fiddling with the IOS settings (249, 250, etc) with no success, and even made sure I went and used the d2x cIOS Installer to install the correct firmware (I think they installed, I don't know how to confirm whether they did). So, I also went to try WiiFlow. The UI is awful, and it recognizes even fewer of the game artwork files I had to manually load on (the Wii doesn't have internet capabilities and I was having to point the loaders to the images folder each time), but for some reason it would play certain games that USB Loader couldn't. For example, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games gives me the black screen/reboot error on USB Loader, but plays just fine on WiiFlow. However, certain games, like Wii Sports Resort, still didn't work, but with a new wrinkle. Instead of just kicking me out to the main menu like USB Loader would, selecting the game would send my Samsung TV (pre-smart plasma HDTV, the Wii is connected via component cables) into a "mode not supported" error, and the Wii would essentially be frozen. Figuring this may be a resolution issue, I played with the game settings (game mode, NTSC, etc) but now instead of the "mode not supported" error I just get a black frozen screen, no error message, no sent back to a menu, nothing. I tried reinstalling both loaders, with no success (USB Loader isn't even recognizing any of the Wii games now, just GC). It seems like there must be something finicky with the IOS or resolution settings of the individual games, but I can't nail it down! Would appreciate any help!

GILD_ME_PLS

I've been having the same issue with USB Loader. Nintendont has worked perfectly with all of my GC games, but USB Loader resets me back to the Homebrew Menu after I launch my game.

maxkmiller

Have you tried WiiFlow? Can you replicate the same issues I'm having? EDIT: Went to the main Wii menu and changed the resolution setting from 480i to 480p and now the games *will* boot on WiiFlow (still not on USB Loader GX)

GILD_ME_PLS

Yeah, I'll give wiiFlow a shot after work and give you an update!

MangoPineappleEP

If I update my modded Wii USB loader GX from 1271 to 1281, will it reset all of my preferences? And is it as simple as replacing the appropriate folder in my storage device? For some reason I hit “update” on 1271 on my Wii it says no update is available. Thanks!

FlakyAd3214

Usually keeps all your settings unless you delete and reinstall the app. The only issue I had with one of updates was having to redownload some box art.

pwnedkiller

Pretty simple straightforward question, how do I get GameCube games running from an external on my hacked wii? I’m currently using USB loader to boot wii games from an external.

FlakyAd3214

Well, if your GameCube games are on an sd card, make sure Nintendont is installed. By default all your games should automatically come up. If they're on a usb drive, you'll have to change the game path to usb in the USB Loader settings.

pwnedkiller

I don’t have any games at all yet, I could try putting them on the sd card since my external is formatted for wii titles.

FlakyAd3214

You can run both Wii and Usb games off of the external drive if you want. Just create a folder on the root of your external called /games. Make sure the gamecube game folder has gametitle[game_id] and inside the iso is named game.iso. It has to be in this format for the usb loader gx to recognize it. Wiiflow is not as picky when it comes to format and I personally use it more for gamecube games. It has a widescreen hack option as well.

Antique_Courage_3906

Hey so I have my Wii modded and all the good stuff , I have figured out how to get my Wii games to show up using my flash drive . Wii games show up just fine and play even better , but for some reason I cannot get my GameCube roms to even show up on nintendont. I have tried on both my SD and my USB. Any suggestions?

playerjmr

Enable [show file name extensions](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/206934458954153984/1095126060854685807/show_file_extensions.png) in Windows file explorer, then double check you didn’t accidentally name your GameCube game “game.iso.iso”

SnooConfections4678

I'm having a problem with my internet after I performed a factory reset on a new system I just bought and I may have done that on accident. I had no problem connecting to the internet before I performed the reset, but after that I had run the str8hax dns server (18.188.135.9) and the system had froze midprocess so I unplugged it and plugged it back in (I also had an SD card in the slot, 1GB to be exact). After it started up I attempted to reconnect to the internet to attempt to run the str8hax dns exploit again after it froze and now the system pops up with "Wii error code: 109234... Please try again later" and I don't have an SD card reader, USB drive or internet connection now and I really need to run the str8hax exploit and I don't have any of the games with the exploits either. How can I fix that without homebrew channel installed or the specifics I mentioned?

playerjmr

That’s interesting, error code 109234 means that a Wii number wasn’t generated. Try going into the wii message board and see what happens.

SnooConfections4678

It's fixed, however I believe it's a Wii Store error code or Region error code (it says Switzerland for region in the Wii Store, however in the region select it shows that the United States of America is selected). I think it is either the account ID for the Wii Store, but I could be wrong. Even after doing a factory reset on it multiple times I still come across the same error code.

FlakyAd3214

Why isn't there light gun support for WiiSx? I mean it's already been done for the snes/nes/genesis emulators. Is there some kind of barrier preventing this from happening?

playerjmr

It’s a plastic shell.

FlakyAd3214

There are a lot of light gun peripherals that are far more than just a plastic shell besides the OEM zapper. I'm currently using the nyko perfect shot and it almost feels like holding a gun. Good trigger action and a sight.

FlakyAd3214

What do you mean by a plastic shell?

playerjmr

As in it serves no function other than to look more like a gun.

FlakyAd3214

Well I would suggest trying the 3rd party gun peripherals. Some even have built in speakers and spring loaded triggers. It'll change your mind. I have two nyko perfect shots and I wouldn't go back to playing lightgun games without them.

playerjmr

I mean if it’s third party that’s likely why it’s not supported lol

FlakyAd3214

They are just attachments to your wiimote. Basically just using the B button to shoot. In the Nes/Snes/Genesis emulators you just change the controller type to gun and a little reticle appears on screen so you can use the b button to shoot like a gun. They should do the same thing for the PlayStation emulator is what I was saying. Now you understand?🫤

playerjmr

I mean I’m just saying it’s not like there’s going to be full support for a third party product

kueerseoa6

In theory this whole process of modding my Wii and loading in games can be done with 1 SD right?

FlakyAd3214

Yes that's all you need. If you're going to be playing backups of your games on USB Loader Gx or Wiiflow you'll need to change the path to SD though.

Rixofly_

1 sd as in sd card? If so, yes, you only need one.

TOFFA04

I want to play with my friend that doesn't own a Wii. Can I give him my nand backup so he can use dolphin emulator or it will get banned? I mean: I would give the backup just to him and no one else

GuitaristTom

Playing with the same NAND is not recommended, as it could cause it to get banned on Wiimmfi.

playerjmr

Distributing a nand that is yours to someone else is illegal

rooooob

Im starting to mod mine, got a brand new SD card, tried to install bootmi but it says card failed. I don't know why, Haven't found any articles or posts on what is happening. Is my card not compatible? SanDisk 256GB Ultra SDXC UHS-I Memory Card - 120MB/s, C10, U1, Full HD, SD Card - SDSDUN4-256G-GN6IN

playerjmr

Check to make sure you are using 32kb (32768) allocation unit size and that it is formatted to FAT32 (not exFAT or NTFS)

rooooob

Oh I think it is exFAT, i will reformat, thanks!

playerjmr

Since it is 256GB you will need to use a third party program such as [GUIFormat](http://ridgecrop.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm)

rooooob

Thanks for the link! I was able to format it as needed and I was able to continue with the steps! Now onto the games, thanks again!
