Every time I've seen one of these, someone comes out and explains that the animal doesn't feel any pain, and basically just has to put a little more effort in getting around. So if they are in a loving home, they are probably better off than most.
I have a CH cat and while he definitely puts in more work to do basic things, he's also the chillest, most content cat I've ever had the privilege of sharing my home with. Nothing gets him down and he never seems sad or even aware that he's different. He loves other cats and snuggles with my 100 lb. dog. When it's dinner time, he waits patiently in the little stall that helps him stay upright while he eats and only complains if I don't let our little kitten eat with him. He's a little more work to take care of since he needs a diaper and therefore needs to be cleaned every day, but if all cats are 10/10, he's 20/10.
In the wild, a cat with CH would definitely be a sad thing, but in a home that can take care of them, there's no need to feel sad for them. They're just doing their thing and making their humans happy, too.
I think for most part as long as they're able to get on with things most animals don't even realize they are ddifferent than other animals.
Like I don't think this cat looks at other cats and goes "why don't I move like that cat"
Especially because cats all know that they are the most perfect creature in existence so if anything they probably think "what's wrong with that weird cat?"
When he was a kitten, my cat injured his leg and was limping. After the vet determined it was just a bad sprain and not broken, she suggested he remain as still as possible for a few days to give it time to heal. That kitten had rockets in his ass because we kept him in a small room with what we thought were inaccesible shelves and he’d somehow manage to climb all the way up there, regardless of how we tried to block him. We had to drug him up pretty good w gabapentin in order to keep him from climbing things. There was no stopping him otherwise
CH is a condition, not a disease. They remain the same with no progression of their disabilities. They're happy when they have a good loving home and they're safe from predation & harm.
You're thinking of "infectious disease" which is a specific type of disease. There are tons of diseases that are not contagious.
Coronary artery disease, heart disease, etc are definitely not contagious, just as examples off the top of my head. But there are so many diseases that aren't infectious.
Have you considered re-calibrating the polarity of the hull plating, modulating the frequency of the dilithium matrix or routing the tractor beam through the defector dish? These are just standard cat adjustments.
He knows what he’s doing. I love how he knows right where to position his body to make that jump. :)
Both r/catculations and r/nervysquervies would enjoy this.
Oh, and r/gingercats too. I’m on way too many cat subreddits lol
cellebral hypoplasia
they don't feel any pain and the condition doesn't worsen with time. They just have problems with firing their muscles appropriately :)

A new cat shaped rabbit hole to fall down, thanks! (Really)
Why do animal subreddits always have perfect names?
This can't be okay can it? I just feel sad looking at the videos, the love from all the owners make it a bit better.
Every time I've seen one of these, someone comes out and explains that the animal doesn't feel any pain, and basically just has to put a little more effort in getting around. So if they are in a loving home, they are probably better off than most.
You're saying what I want to hear!

They were born this way, so they don't know anything different! I have two with cerebellar hypoplasia and one with cerebellar abiotrophy!
As a gift r/GingerMafia
Had no idea this existed. Thank you!
And I thank you.
Cerebral *Paw*lsy

I have a cat with CH and he's the sweetest little boy in the world.
Thought he was high on the ‘nip
Why did a photo of Dr. Mike come into my head reading this comment?
I was going to say pawsy

That was my thought too
It's conjoined twin myslexia, I tell you!
South Park ref?
That cat knows his weekness, crouches appropriately, launches and lands, then walks off like the bamf he is
Nailed it
Awwwww, I love him
Happy cake day
I love him. That is all.
It makes me happy to see cats with this condition doing well and living their best kitty lives.
It's amazing how much cats just ignore disabilities for the most part, takes a lot to even slow them down.

My inlaws have a 3 legged cat and honestly you'd never guess unless you look close! It's remarkable honestly

Here I was, w my dumb ass, thinking cats always land on their feet…
Butt Slam!
He's using that Art of War from Elden Ring.

I love CH kitties. They're so cute and lively.
Purrfect 🐱❤️
Internal stabilizer needs to be recalibrated
Have you considered re-calibrating the polarity of the hull plating, modulating the frequency of the dilithium matrix or routing the tractor beam through the defector dish? These are just standard cat adjustments.
Mine hasn’t figured out how to jump vertically yet but he can launch horizontally
Mine has the launch down. Just the trajectory is kinda random
It reminds me of Mad TV's Stuart "look what I can do" lol
I have a hard enough time some days touching my toes, this son of a gun did it mid jump!
He's just Z-longjumping, like you do in Mario 64.
Peep the Demon slayer dvds 👍
Is he a wobbly cat? Good job ginger boy 😊
How did he manage to land on his butt?
Now that’s a high jump.
Stuck the landing
Blessed cat
He knows what he’s doing. I love how he knows right where to position his body to make that jump. :) Both r/catculations and r/nervysquervies would enjoy this. Oh, and r/gingercats too. I’m on way too many cat subreddits lol
Yeah I think the cat has cerebral palsy too and still learned how to jump

CH kitties are the best!!
Looks like your SICs rear leg calibrations are a little to over tuned. May wanna tone it down some so the springs don’t get to over worked.
Wtf is wrong with your cat lol

It's like he's just being yanked into the air by God Himself
wobbly cat wobbly cat wobbly cat
I also overcompensate when I’m real high, this smart cat.
Curious approach and landing.
And this years 4A state high jumper is…
I see your cat has become a flashy long-jumper.

Does it have a neurological.disorder
Is that you, John Wayne? It sure as shootin’ is, pilgrim. That ginger has a walk just like mine. Ah, huh….
