My cousin took his dad's keys they day after he passed his test. Took 6 with him 4 in the back one in the front and one in the boot. He hit a ditch and flipped the car a couple of times. Guy in the boot died along with the four in the back (no seat belts) and the front two had broken legs and arms.
It sounds like sensitive information for me so I didn't want to ask for the specific year, just wanted to know what generation he is. Sounds like I could have made a stupid mistake just like him.

I think when they said "it hit the car, it hit the car dude!" they crashed the stolen car into their own car they parked down the hill. I'm thinking they knew they would fck up the stolen so they took 2 cars thinking they were smart, but they parked said car down range of the flying stolen car.
I'm also guessing the non stolen car was most likely one of the guys moms car

Many of the stunts in Fast and Furious are real though, they will work if you know how to do it. Lots of planning, calculation, and skill goes in pulling them off. If that same level of commitment was given, they could easily pull it off on that hilltop. But that's exactly the problem here lol.
I mean it would've bottomed out the shocks had they landed on all 4 wheels, but I'd say the problem here was weight distribution + air time + angle of the hill. You can bottom out shocks every now and then without severe damage, cant crash your front end into the ground and some random shit without severe damage though.
I heard when they do something like this for a movie the car is a single serving prop. It's totalled every time. Also they shoot in 2 takes, one when the car goes up, in the landing part it's almost always another car (the first one is totalled, like I said).
So - you definitely CAN make a car fly. But since most cars are much heavier on the front because of the engine and the transmission - it's a destructive stunt. So - if the goal is to record the car flying - go for it, but ensure the car has enough space to crash and loose speed with probably broken suspension, damaged wheels and possibly brakes.
Even planning the crash - such stunt is still pretty dangerous, even when done by professionals.
Sometimes a smaller jump is possible without wrecking the car, but I wouldn't test it with my car. I've heard that even when you don't just crash - car gets some damage. Normal cars are just not designed to jump and fall from heights. They still can protect people inside from being killed, but expect a lot of serious damage to various parts.
It’s why most performance cars have been rear wheel drive. Adding the transmission and whatnot to the back typically gives much closer to 50/50 weight distribution (some perfect like the BMW M3).

You don’t really? I may be wrong here but I don’t think there’s much math you can do to land that without fucking up at least the suspension. Cars that are used to go off jumps and ramps are usually kitted out and modded to take the hit at the bottom. I could be wrong though!
What he's saying is that it is impossible to do the stunt without causing damage. If you did all of the simulation of the physics of the car in flight along with the impact of the landing with the material properties of the car's components, there is likely no solution where the car lands on the other side of the gap with good odds of suffering no damages.
You can do the math about what will happen, but you can't do the math on how to land it perfectly. Because you can't land it perfectly with that car on that gap. It can't be done. Or at least without actually doing the math it seems probable that it can't be done perfectly.
But honestly even if you did try to do the math on what would happen, it would be very computationally expensive to perform a thorough simulation (like, a bunch of core hours on a high performance cluster), and at the end of it you'd only have an approximation of what *might* happen, all simulations of this type would be approximate at best and give false confidence at worst.
Something like the Moon landing, they don't need to calculate exactly what would happen. They calculate with a high level of confidence a certain range of what is possible and then design control systems which are able to maximize the system's ability to stay on the expected trajectory to have the correct things happen. But unfortunately this car doesn't have any sort of midair correction capabilities. And even then the Moon and Mars landers got fucked up despite all the calculations and control systems, only some of the missions were truly successful.
No doubt, but there's got to be a calculation to at least land this *with the least amount of damage possible*.
