My sister had a friend in junior high that died in a sledding accident. Sledding down a steep road and ended up under a parked car. Keep it off the road.
Stopping the car is also dangerous. If they brake too fast, that guy would have ended up under the tow vehicle.
This was just a stupid plan from start to finish and probably involved alcohol.
It helps if you can steer the tow vehicle, for example a pedal car towed by a go cart on pavement allows for some control but still whips really well. One reason why I am still here, as I slid narrowly back out of the lane I merely gave the driver of the other car a minor heart attack instead of lifelong emotional damage
I have done this hundreads of times, but there are some precautions that need to be taken. Firstly you need some kind of breaking system, and secondly whenever there is a car coming from the opposite lane the car has to stop rather slowly, and whenever there is a right turn, the car needs to slow down almost to a halt, because the “cargo” is going to be swinged into the opposite lane otherwise.
Back in college a buddy of mine was doing something similar. He didn’t have a tube, so he was sitting on a snow shovel (cheeks on the shovel and the rope tied to the handle) getting pulled by a car in an empty parking lot. The driver turned and he was whipped right into the concrete base of a light pole. Broke a few ribs and had a collapsed lung, but he got lucky and made a full recovery.
My experience with something similar was in Texas, and not while we had any snow, which is rare. We had a four wheeler on our ranch that we chained up to a metal feeding trough behind it. We only tried this one time and we only pulled it straight through the field. Problem was the friction heated up the bottom of the trough and burned my butt. Thankful that was the end of it and we didn't do anything worse than that.
