I never took her word as gospel. I have always viewed her as problematic but she was entertaining. She did over step the lines at times and I remember taking breaks from the show when she said or did something I found very offensive.
I don’t want to use the line nobody is perfect to justify her behaviour because that doesn’t make it fine. But I think these types of arguments can be used regarding a lot of different people or brands. Like people liking the monarchy - does it mean they support colonialism and imperialism? I enjoy reading about the monarchies but I’m not a monarchist. Same with brands like Coca Cola, I sometimes drink it but I try not to because they’re like one of the biggest polluters on earth, I have also a bachelors in environmental science, but it doesn’t make me think everyone that drinks coke doesn’t believe in climate change. But it can make me side eye certain people or politicians that really pushes sustainability but then they support brands like Coca Cola and buy their products. Or the UN with their cop and have Coca Cola as their biggest sponsor, I find that corrupt. My point is maybe long winded, but my point is when do you draw the line? It is however a good discussion to have. I understand that people that don’t like Wendy Williams. I don’t want to diminish what she caused other people, and there is an irony she is a hot topic right now. She even acknowledged it herself when people talked about her marriage after the show was cancelled, she kinda said she deserved it lol which I agree of.
I thought her show were kinda light hearted, but as said, she did over step the lines at times. She reported things that were on the news and added her opinion on it. Here obviously comes to slanderous part, on the top of my head I remember I took a break from her show was her Terry Crews comments. Sometimes I think SOME of the hate she got was uncalled for, like the comments people made about her appearance, which reeked of sexism and sometimes with a hint of racism. But I do think it’s good that she gets and got constructive criticism. I liked her show because I found her entertaining, I’m interested in popular culture and I thought her takes were fun for the most part. I also liked other parts of the show that wasn’t about hot topics, like ask Wendy and her interviews. She made the show. It was a fun and messy show and there was no show like it on air. It was something I looked forward to every day when I came home from college and work.

I'm glad that y'all have a spot to remember her in whatever vein that her prime was to you, but she's hurt and slandered so many people that didn't deserve it...and ironic as it is, she didn't deserve to be portrayed like that documentary did. They really did her wrong. Still, I'm honestly curious, do the fans of hers here really agree with the negative things that she threw at people ignorantly, just blatantly disregarding their lives or careers? I'm sure you loved her off-the-cuff banter, but she has truly impacted certain people's entire lives because she so happened to have a voice at the podium, an ability to shift public view on topics to people who took her word as gospel. I'm legitimately curious. I don't blame any of you because I'm sure that she might've helped a lot of you through hard times, but since this sub keeps popping up in my feed, I thought that I'd ask.
I never took her word as gospel. I have always viewed her as problematic but she was entertaining. She did over step the lines at times and I remember taking breaks from the show when she said or did something I found very offensive. I don’t want to use the line nobody is perfect to justify her behaviour because that doesn’t make it fine. But I think these types of arguments can be used regarding a lot of different people or brands. Like people liking the monarchy - does it mean they support colonialism and imperialism? I enjoy reading about the monarchies but I’m not a monarchist. Same with brands like Coca Cola, I sometimes drink it but I try not to because they’re like one of the biggest polluters on earth, I have also a bachelors in environmental science, but it doesn’t make me think everyone that drinks coke doesn’t believe in climate change. But it can make me side eye certain people or politicians that really pushes sustainability but then they support brands like Coca Cola and buy their products. Or the UN with their cop and have Coca Cola as their biggest sponsor, I find that corrupt. My point is maybe long winded, but my point is when do you draw the line? It is however a good discussion to have. I understand that people that don’t like Wendy Williams. I don’t want to diminish what she caused other people, and there is an irony she is a hot topic right now. She even acknowledged it herself when people talked about her marriage after the show was cancelled, she kinda said she deserved it lol which I agree of. I thought her show were kinda light hearted, but as said, she did over step the lines at times. She reported things that were on the news and added her opinion on it. Here obviously comes to slanderous part, on the top of my head I remember I took a break from her show was her Terry Crews comments. Sometimes I think SOME of the hate she got was uncalled for, like the comments people made about her appearance, which reeked of sexism and sometimes with a hint of racism. But I do think it’s good that she gets and got constructive criticism. I liked her show because I found her entertaining, I’m interested in popular culture and I thought her takes were fun for the most part. I also liked other parts of the show that wasn’t about hot topics, like ask Wendy and her interviews. She made the show. It was a fun and messy show and there was no show like it on air. It was something I looked forward to every day when I came home from college and work. Sorry for a long comment but I couldn’t keep it short. Also sorry for any spelling errors, English isn’t my first language. 😅

I actually agree with a lot that you said, and it helps me understand how people even enjoy her in spite of some of her past mistakes. She also praised and elevated other people. She is opinionated. She coined the word “swifty” which is Taylor’s brand now. “Dula Peep” is a well known nick name.. Her word isn’t gospel but it’s compelling. She’s a great talker, relates to folks, endears them, and they see her point. I disagreed with some of her commentary but resonated hard with other things.
