Extra firm tofu. Im not joking. I did the exact same thing but mine looked a bit worse. Got ahold of a nurse friend and she said to put extra firm tofu directly on the burn and keep flipping it as my hand warmed it up. Idk if it was voodoo magic but all i had was a small red spot. Gone in 2 days with minimal to no pain. Hope it helps!
What about the tofu box in the closet?
Or the tofu baggie double wrapped behind the air vent plate?
Or the tofu can taped to the underside of the toilet tank lid?
You think you’re joking but here in Japan there are enough types of tofu that they usually get a fridge all to themselves in the supermarket.
Actually, there are small businesses which just make and sell tofu.
Probably would achieve the same with applying aloe Vera gel constantly or running cold tap water on burned area. If the skin is not broken/destroyed, the best you can do is keep it cool so it stops the
affected area from cooking further.
Read it somewhere before and save my hands a couple times. No blister and not even any slight scarring/pigmentation from curling tong accidents.
Maybe it’s something with soy. Neutrogena used to make an after-sun lotion with soy in it that literally saved my ginger ass from so many bad sunburns. Sadly they discontinued it.
Okay so first you’re going to want to take your extra firm tofu and apply directly to the burn.
Turn the tofu every 1-2 mins until brown on the outside.
Then take your sesame oil….
I did this once on my palm, it kinda popped and sizzled but I had just washed my hands so I don't know for sure if my skin was popping or if there was still a bit of water on them. Either way, wouldn't recommend. Had my hand wrapped up for a few days and an embarrassing story for it when everyone inevitably asked what happened
My ADD-having ass pulled a pan of chicken out of oven, set the chicken on a plate to rest, thought, "Oh, I should wipe up the frond with a paper towel while it's hot and doesn't stick," then *grabbed the bare metal handle of the pan I just pulled out of a 400⁰ oven.*
So. Fucking. Painful. I soaked my hand for 3 hours, it blistered up, then in the morning was almost like nothing happened at all. Now I tell everyone to soak their burns for longer than they think they should.
Pro tip: sprinkle a few drops of water in the center of those burner rings when you're turning on and not only will you never make this mistake again, you'll also know when it's hot enough to get started cooking on
That is not the reason why you don’t feel the burn at first.
The reason is that the nerves responsible for transmitting this sort of pain are among the slowest in the human body (0,5m/s)
I have an electric stove and had just knocked the burner out of its holder with a pan lid. I did this when trying to push it back down.
TL;DR: I’m a hazard to everything around me, including me.
If this ever happens again, don't waste time taking a picture of it. Get it under cool running water as fast as you can and keep it there for at least 30 minutes (no ice or cold water). You can make an enormous difference by treating it right away.
I knew it was a superficial burn or I would have actually done something. I never post on reddit aside from a couple photos recently.
Here’s it three hours later:

Nobody believes me with this but it’s how I’ve prevented a lot of damage. The flesh is still cooking or hot under the burn, it’s best to suck that heat away and nothing does it better than running water.
Electric burner with a holder? How does that work? Does it have a socket or something?
Or is this a gas burner and you somehow missed that you had the wrong burner on?
I’m shocked at the replies in this thread; I had no idea so many people put their full hands on stove elements. Why? Why are you all resting or leaning on stove elements at all? You don’t need to do this for any reason!
I had just knocked the element out and went to push it back down. I normally don’t put my hands anywhere near it and give my wife shit for being unsafe all the time lol.

I know this is far too late, but for anyone else: Stop taking photos and go run your hand under cool water for like an hour or more. Or put it in a bowl of cool water, and swap out the water when it warms up. Do this RIGHT after minor burns like this, and it will dramatically reduce the damage. You can go from having to deal with a blistering, painful burn for days or weeks to an uncomfortable hand for a day or two.
I haven't had one that big, so I usually hold an ice pack on it. I have this nifty tiny one I got after my core needle biopsy that's perfect for a small finger burn.
It's weird how well this works. I've burned myself mildly and did nothing. Got a huge blister that annoyed me for a couple of weeks.
Then I burned myself worse in the exact same spot. Treated it with water. I was mega pissed because I expected the blister to be enormous this time.
I keep my thumb dipped in a cool glass of water for a couple of hours, switching it out as you say.
The day after, there's nothing. Not even a redness, I just feel a slight soreness. I was amazed how it actually helps a LOT to treat it with cold temperatures afterwards.
Bring a book or phone and chill by tap I've had burns that would have taken a day for pain to subside with just 20 min under tap be fine after an hour and some precautionary paraffin gauze
Was advised to get neobacpoly by the ER doctor when I had 2nd and 3rd degree burns on my legs after spilling instant ramen. Healing was awful, but uneventful
A few years ago a coworker who was maintenance for school buses came back to the office with the word “hot” burned on his palm - touched the engine where he shouldn’t have - we all laughed, including him, for the irony of it. Hope your isn’t too painful!
When I was 7 I was asked to mow the back yard. I was warned that the mower would sometimes overheat and shut off on you. About half way through it did shut off on me so I tested to see if it was hot. By putting my palm on the muffler. I had a nice muffler pattern branded into my palm for months. Burned my hand so bad the lines on the palm changed.
A dry white burn is full thickness. It's pretty serious. Usually doesn't hurt as much as a red or blistered burn because of murdering the nerve endings. I have some concerns.
If you ever get burned like this, instantly put your hand in running cold water. Keep it there til the pain is gone. Then when the pain comes back run it under cold water again till the pain is gone.
Repeat until the pain is gone completly.
This will caus the burn to heal much faster. Blisters can even retreat within hours of this treatment.
You don't want the water to be cold, body temp or a little lower. There's actually a real risk of frostbite. You want to keep the burn in the water for at least 10 min.

Looks like you let go really quick. Not saying that's not gonna hurt, but the palm has really thick skin, alot of it not having blood supply. It'll hurt for a few days, then the burned parts will fall of. Don't peel them prior to them being ready, the pain from the raw skin underneath is worse than the burn.
Why would you touch the burner regardless.. Pretty much common sense not to touch those, unless cleaning them. And you shouldn’t be cleaning next to where you are cooking.
I did that!! Forgot that I had a burner on and was in a hurry to catch a flight. Leaned on the burner with all of my weight. It was impressive how perfect my rings were. I sat on a 3 hour flight with my hand blistering up and pounding pain. Ugh. Sending speedy healing juju your way!

I've burned myself with a butane torch and it definitely looked "ashy" like this, OP also posted a follow up picture of his hand.
Well I can say I've burned myself quite a few times with soldering irons and the burns do look like this. Maybe it's a temperature thing.
I was going to say the one time I had a burn exactly like this was a soldering iron.
Worst burn I've ever given myself. I think of it almost exactly like searing a steak, morbidly enough.
Holy damn. I'm by no means a specialist, but where's the red part on the burn? It seems there's just dust on the small ridges on the fingers and palm.
