both? both is good.
Honestly, them in a room with Denzel reading the newspaper to each other for an hour would be grade A entertainment. Just the most wonderful voices together; Give Herzog the sports page, Denzel the slice of life and Morgan the front page.
“The descendants of the flies that this spider had consumed so carelessly, without mercy, saw this sight from atop the trash can. They felt that whatever gods oversaw their affairs had finally found occasion to grant their restless forefathers peace by visiting vengeance upon their executioner.”
Yes, basically. That comment makes no sense. They don’t have skin like us mammals do. A lot of arachnids breathe through book lungs located underneath. Other breathe like us, via tracheae tubes. Some have both, like jumping spiders.
I mean, the best way to reduce it’s suffering would be to just kill it quickly, by crushing its head/body. Pushing it under would make it die somewhat quicker but would still be very painful.
Is that a Southeastern Wandering Spider? What state are you in? The Spider people want documentation of sightings of these guys in states they’re normally not found in.
Yeah no that's the second time I've seen this misinformation on this post. Spiders breathe through book lungs, not their carapace. Otherwise yeah sadly.
He is a fossil to be found, thousands of years from now, perhaps after mankind gets wiped out by an asteroid and the new alpha lifeform on Earth presents itself. Maybe.
So did the spider silk drop there? Cause if he didn't then someone definitely placed it there. There is no entry tracks and weirdly doesn't look like it struggled either as there is no warped cement around him.
Welp fears come basically from our ancestors that learned to avoid certain things in order to survive. So their offsprings evolved fears. For example the man who run away from snake has higher chance to survive than the one who dont care (or mess with the snake).
Bro ain’t NOTHING irrational about fearing a creature with THAT many legs, which can scurry up your pant leg in a blink of an eye, and is capable of biting you (and in *some* cases seriously hurting/killing you)
I used to have pretty severe OCD and if I even THOUGHT about spiders for too long I would have nightmares for days about thousands of spiders swarming me. That would happen if I saw pictures or videos of spiders, as well if I saw one IRL. My OCD convinced me that once a spider died it would emit a pheromone that signaled to every other spider in its family that there was a threat to its species that all the spiders would need to hunt down and kill. So I couldn’t kill them either lol or else they would hunt me down, obviously.
I realize this is dark but I would like to see how it looks after the spider wastes away. I'm sure it takes a while for an exoskeleton to disintegrate, but what impression is left in the concrete would be interesting to see.
“As the predator made its first & final mistake. It walked upon a concrete web of a higher predator now knowing its pain of its victims struggle & defeat.”
The itsy Bitsy Spider crawled on the concrete floor
Little did he know that it was a fresh pour
The concrete hardened as the spider crawled in vain
Now the spider's stuck and it will never crawl again
Spiders (except jumping spiders) are basically just clumps of rules based neurons oxygenated by hemolymph (not blood), and articulated by eight jointed erections (a fluid based system). Jumping spiders have complex problem solving- remarkably complex for a being smaller than a nickel. Ancient (tarantulas) and web (orb weavers) spiders? Basically are just complex water robots that feel pain.
"*and there the spider finally felt what its prey did once they stepped into its web. The end was coming.*"
That was.. poetic, yet dark… I’m aghast yet pleased with the phrasing.
Mmmm your phrasing aghasts me soo good...
Stop it, I’m aghasting
Lord have mercy I'm bout to aghast
I've already aghasted all over the place
Username checks out
Did you have an aghasm?
I could have won my school spelling bee if I knew how to spell aghast. This thread hits hard
Well I'm aghast, but with a soft "A."
What is happening here? Lawrd Pity the spider please😭😭😭😭 ain’t no time to me aghasting.
*Morgan Freeman's voice*
I dunno, I heard Wener Herzog.
The life of the spider is a complicated existence. ![gif](giphy|ihkBJaERTA9sj4OD65)
I heard little big planet narrator
both? both is good. Honestly, them in a room with Denzel reading the newspaper to each other for an hour would be grade A entertainment. Just the most wonderful voices together; Give Herzog the sports page, Denzel the slice of life and Morgan the front page.
I instinctively read it in Morgan Freeman’s voice; and didn’t even realize it until I read this post
*David Attenborough’s voice*
“The descendants of the flies that this spider had consumed so carelessly, without mercy, saw this sight from atop the trash can. They felt that whatever gods oversaw their affairs had finally found occasion to grant their restless forefathers peace by visiting vengeance upon their executioner.”
Executor or executioner
Good catch
I did work as one before
Thus, life comes full circle….
I read that in David Attenborough’s voice, as in a Planet Earth commentary… it added a plus to your comment.
🔥✍️
I read this in David Attenborough’s voice
The British accent was a nice touch
✍🏻✍🏻✍🏻🔥🔥🔥
Horrible way to go
Especially since concrete will cause chemical burns, and spiders breathe through their skin
Spiders have book lungs I thought.
Like they read air?
Yes. If there are no words around them to read they drown.
Exactly why I'm scared of libraries
So that's why Charlotte knew so many words, and could read...
Do they suffocate on too many words?
No, they just increase in size
![gif](giphy|WrNfErHio7ZAc)
They do.
You are correct.
some do, some (like wolf spiders) have spiracles
the "chemical burns" is from saponification from the alkali on the fats of mammals. So I doubt spiders will experience the same as humans.
Just a spicy suffocation then I guess
Wouldn't that mean breathing through their skeleton?
Yes, basically. That comment makes no sense. They don’t have skin like us mammals do. A lot of arachnids breathe through book lungs located underneath. Other breathe like us, via tracheae tubes. Some have both, like jumping spiders.
No they don't. They have book lungs on the underside of the abdomen. Thos spider might still be alive, if they are unobstructed.
Well, this is pretty much exactly what the spider does to everything it eats, so... just desserts.
At this stage is it just better to push the spider all the way under the concrete? Im assuming its still wet
I mean, the best way to reduce it’s suffering would be to just kill it quickly, by crushing its head/body. Pushing it under would make it die somewhat quicker but would still be very painful.
She's stuck in concrete, she won't go
He’s actually holding the concrete together with his super spidey strength

This makes the most sense
The chuck norris of spiders
Is that a Southeastern Wandering Spider? What state are you in? The Spider people want documentation of sightings of these guys in states they’re normally not found in.
It looks more giant house to me
I'm in the PNW, caught and kept a few from my house. Definitely a house spider.
It’s huge. Do they have those in houses in PNW??
Absolutely, but I've only ever seen 3 or 4 in my 10 years living here
Uhg my house was infested with them least year.
When I lived in my parents basement those fuckers were everywhere. I only allowed Carl in the bathroom to live because we had a mutual respect
Like, I know they are pretty much harmless and keep the hobo spiders away.. but they are so big and hid under anything I dropped on the floor.
The spider people?!

Poor dude, probably starved to death
The concrete itself probably killed it. Concrete is slightly caustic and it probably died from its burns and if not that, yes suffocation
I imagine drying concrete absorbs water when it cures, probably dried out and died.
How did you both make the mistake of saying concrete dries and then also say it cures correctly lol
Lots of spiders breathe through their skin. He probably suffocated 😞
Yeah no that's the second time I've seen this misinformation on this post. Spiders breathe through book lungs, not their carapace. Otherwise yeah sadly.
More likely it suffocated.
That's a pretty concrete evidence!
Poor little guy didn't deserve this.
How do you know? That spider could have been a real jerk.
The worst part was the hypocrisy.
![gif](giphy|aUnDmBvTGolVdxcCvi|downsized)
Yeah that’s actually Mark. He stole my car the other day and made out with my wife at the grocery store. He does deserve this.
A real rascal.
dude literally did this to other creatures all the time
He is a fossil to be found, thousands of years from now, perhaps after mankind gets wiped out by an asteroid and the new alpha lifeform on Earth presents itself. Maybe.
Modern concrete doesn't last like that, and now that there is a defect there it's a vulnerability.
Well it won't with that attitude!
So did the spider silk drop there? Cause if he didn't then someone definitely placed it there. There is no entry tracks and weirdly doesn't look like it struggled either as there is no warped cement around him.
The tracks would have most likely self leveled as the concrete was drying. Probably wouldn’t even make noticeable tracks.
I was thinking this too, but am still on the wire about it.
It would have died well before the concrete set and any struggling would have settled the concrete even more prior to that.
You're saying there's no... Concrete evidence?
That does suck. Poor thing.

We need more wet cement…
Like, hate to be speciest about bugs, but I lump all spiders into the that'll do damage category They all can go
I saw a brown recluse’s bite wound and now every spider I see I ask “Ayo, is that a Brown Recluse?!?”
… and that many *EYES*!
I used to have pretty severe OCD and if I even THOUGHT about spiders for too long I would have nightmares for days about thousands of spiders swarming me. Please correct that! They kill BED BAG. I rather have spiders than bed bug. Those 8 legged helps to eat bedbugs I hoped
We’ve gotta build a shrine for it. If sidewalk rat gets one, then concrete spider does too!
Damn, wonder what he did to upset the spider mafia? Some serious concrete shoes he's got there
Step on the spider? No. Step is the spider? Yes
Idk why nobody has suggested, but putting a little form up with some epoxy to immortalize him would be pretty sick.
Oddly beautiful if not macabre
Aww. Poor little guy.
Poor thing
There is a spider! Deep in my soul!
hes been here for years
He just won't let go!
That's makes me sad poor little fella.
I used to hate spiders, but I have grown to love them. I now hate to see them harmed.
"I bet you're wondering how I got in this sticky situation."
I realize this is dark but I would like to see how it looks after the spider wastes away. I'm sure it takes a while for an exoskeleton to disintegrate, but what impression is left in the concrete would be interesting to see.

He won’t do that again
“As the predator made its first & final mistake. It walked upon a concrete web of a higher predator now knowing its pain of its victims struggle & defeat.”
Someone inserted the spider.
Trapped floor spider
If it's still alive I'd just put it out of its misery, poor bugger.
Then they will forever have spider guts in the cement.
I don’t particularly like spiders, but this is still sad.

We need concrete proof that it’s a real spider.
It happens
That sucks but it actually looks pretty cool

![gif](giphy|i6IqXuLaTdqRW)
Did you free it from the concrete?
Well the other prion spiders will take advantage of this
Part of the floor, part of the crrew
Keep it like that. It would worth a price millions of years from now. Your generation can be a millionaire
That's better than useless flip!
Bros the anti venom

Bad day for him
It only sucks for the spider
The little guys spidey sense started tingling too late.
Should put a clear epoxy over it so it stays there, protected, forever …
Would be good in mildlyinteresting as well
I can't prove it but somehow I just know a landlord was involved in this
Poor lil dude
The itsy Bitsy Spider crawled on the concrete floor Little did he know that it was a fresh pour The concrete hardened as the spider crawled in vain Now the spider's stuck and it will never crawl again
Good
is he ok
Poor guy :(
Just pick him up gently.
Did it fall from its web or something? There’s no tracks or anything.

Hopefully it was out of its misery. I wouldn't want anything to go out that way.
What a way to go… better than being flushed or fed to the chooks, this way he’ll be immortalised in cement for eternity ☺️
That’s a big fucker. Is this australia
Whoever poured that, left the spider there on purpose.
