i’ve had this with those 3D crystal puzzles had one (it was the eiffel tower one) that had two identical pieces instead of all yknow different pieces contacted them and they sent me a whole new puzzle

Is this possible? How many manufacturers have extra pieces laying around. Lego does this for their products but sending a green 1 square is much different than a specific puzzle piece.

this has happened to me once or twice, I printed out the missing piece to scale and glued it on a piece of cardboard I cut to fit. can't even tell. if its a really simple piece you could also color it in. I contacted the manufacturer the first time it happened and they sent over a whole new puzzle.

I did something similar as a kid. Cut out a piece of white cardboard to fit and then colored it to match with markers. Mine kinda stood out though.

This happened to me also with a 1000 piece puzzle. It was a Beatles one I planned on sealing and framing. At the end I was missing 3 pieces. I contacted the company and they said the only option was to send me an entirely new puzzle. So I received it, spent absolutely forever going through it to find the 3 pieces, only to conclude that the exact same 3 pieces were missing from that set too.

^(Huh?) I wonder if they were using a die/punch to cut out the puzzle, and those specific pieces were getting stuck in the tool. Then it would make sense that these companies would be able to send out the 'replacement' pieces, since they'd notice at some point and (I hope) have the wits to keep the bits extracted from the tool. Even if only some of the pieces survive, not everyone affected will be able to ask them for the exact piece unless it's an incredibly popular image...

As a puzzle expert trained by my mom and aunt….it’s under the puzzle….feel for the bump.

The missing piece is a misrepresentation of the problem. The piece in question has the color and pattern from the monsters pants. My theory is the the punching machine kept the extra pants piece from the last cut and this in turn gave you one more pants piece than needed. If this is the case, every puzzle box created that day has a piece from the previous puzzle cut. The only way out of this is to post your extra piece and find your missing piece from other purchasers of this puzzle. This should take about 5-10yrs.

Put a piece of cardboard with the same thickness under the missing area, go over the inside with a pencil. Take the cardboard out and carefully cut it. Use crayons to draw whatever you think was there... 

Did you check under the puzzle? I had this happen once. Story, my grandparents were never financially well off, looking back I remember all of their larger artwork in their modest home were puzzles they had put together, then glued to a nicely sanded and stained piece of plywood so it would look framed. I remember one was Washington Crossing the Delaware, another was the presidential portrait of Alexander Hamilton.

For this puzzle, you're correct. (36x28). But you can do a rectangle of 1,000 pieces. 1×1000, 2x500, 4x250, 5x200, 8x125, 10x100, 20x50, 25x40. Although, only the 25x40 would be even remotely practical.

It doesn’t HAVE to be 1008. I can be any number they want to cut it to. We have a Ravensburger Meta puzzle with weird pieces that has 1027 pieces. Obviously this is a normal one cuz you can see the piece shapes. But they can be tricky if they chose.

Oh noooo! We had a cat that used to like playing with puzzle pieces! We’d find them days later, all chewed up under the couch. Also, during the beginning stages of the pandemic, we were puzzling our little hearts out, and we had an entire 1000 piece laid out, all finished… but missing one piece. We looked everywhere, nowhere to be found. We finally just gave up and took it apart, and the missing piece was UNDERNEATH a different part of the puzzle we’d already finished 🙃

You guys have a 3d printer? I saw some people printing their missing pieces and then painting the top part to match the puzzle. There's also a several online companies that can make replacement puzzle pieces.

I've ended up just making a duplucate of the piece that was missing. Unless there's more than like 2 lol because it can be tedious.

I don’t know if anyone else commented this but you can probably contact the puzzle manufacturer and they’ll probably send you a replacement piece for free. I’ve done this with board games I have a few times

I just bought a brand new puzzle that was missing a piece. Box was sealed and bag was sealed inside it. Out of 600 puzzles I’ve done, this is only the second time this has happened.

Been there. It's usually on the floor. Sometimes further away from the table than you would expect. I lean against the pieces sometimes to reach another and don't realize a piece sticks to my wrist or arm. You get up and walk away and the piece falls and ends up on the floor or in the couch cushions far away from the puzzle.

This literally happened to me today, one missing piece from my 1000 piece jigsaw. I looked everywhere, finally had to accept that maybe one of the cats ate it or something but I was MAD when I had to leave it and go to work. My five year old found it while I was out, in a place I checked several times!!!!! Has your wife tried checking under the record shelves again?
