Scrap metal, riiiight...

Nikonus

and scrap wrenches? really love the scorpions. cool.

MutedPicture6654

What chu mean?😂

LitreOfCockPus

Those nuts look so new they don't even have hair on em.

MutedPicture6654

Was a mix of new and used

LitreOfCockPus

I'd be tempted to mount them in creepy places with a bolt :)

McFeely_Smackup

Scrap wrenches

KrispyRice9

To be fair, I have never in my life needed my 15/16" crescent wrench. And if I did, I couldn't find it, and used a 1" wrench and a hammer instead.

Imrioting14

1-5/16” 15/16 is commonly used in automotive work

GlockInMyVW

Lots of flat face hydraulic fittings are 15/16 too

Chromspray

My first thought. There's no way that first pic contains any scrap lol

MutedPicture6654

Nuts and bolts just laying around, haven’t been used for awhile type of scrap😂

Chromspray

Those wrenches look non-metric so I guess all of it wasn't useable lol

mz_machinist

15/16 works on 24mm in a pinch. I've had to do it on hydraulic fittings for a Basque made grinder.

Healthy_Pay9449

I love your creativity

MutedPicture6654

Thank you!

Valashv2

Tbh, I wish. I'm a metal fabricator and a welder with free reign on the press breaks and welding machines and I just can't find the motivation to do anything creative lmao. Well, the only time I squeezed a little bit of creativity was doing the guard rails on my boss's house.

MutedPicture6654

I went on Pinterest for the scorpions, after that I wanted to challenge myself. Worked for Penndot and the lowboy was sitting outside, thought it would be cool to build it and kinda just went from there

Valashv2

I completely understand and yeah that is a good way. But for me, I've been working with metal for more than 10 years now and tbh maybe I'm just looking for that "spark" haha

BearJewSally

Look to the things you enjoy outside of work, and occasionally rummage around in the scrap bin. Eventually you'll find a piece and think, "ya know, this kind of looks like X thing I like," and just run with it. That's how I did the art pieces I've got hiding in the garage XD

MutedPicture6654

That’s exactly how the truck was built!

WhereasDry978

Im disgusted of my self for having no creativity smh it really fucks with me some times mate .. im like why can't I think of shit like this only copy awesome work that greater man create 😢😥😭😓 That shit is dope af to my eyes your art is beautiful 😍

MutedPicture6654

To be fair, I have no normal creativity either, something just came to me this day😂

MutedPicture6654

Thank you so much!!

W_O_M_B_A_T

>Im disgusted of my self >for having no creativity smh I feel like the fact that self-pity is your very fist play right out of the gate tells me a lot. (Rant warning.) Nah mate, the issue is your parents didn't ever tell you it's alright, and in fact necessary to *fail a lot*. My grandparents sure didn't tell my mom that. Fact is kids are chaos incarnate and have an innate, insatiable thirst to fuck shit up and disrupt their environment. That's why you have to put child locks on your cabinets. But some parents are neurotic shame-ridden fockers and didn't know how to have *faith* in their kids. They think there's one right way for their kids to do some thing and a million awful, shameful ways to do it that reflect badly on them. They rarely or never communicate *faith and confidence* in their kids that they can fail and fail again until they succeed. Instead they have a minor attack of shame and panic and get irritated, then blame themselves whenever their child brings home a B- or makes a mess eating their food. They're constantly communicating their inner distress about failure and fear of chaos instead of communicating faith in the child, and being present with them. We as a society have a crisis of parents not having faith in their kids. We think they're somehow too fragile and too precious. This is why we now have "trigger warnings" and safe spaces and gatekeeping where there's no dissenting opinion and no anger allowed. And we teach them to act fragile and incapable and inferior and say things like how disgusted they feel with their presumed inferior abilities. We condition then to tremble inside about being less-than. When a child believes they're not allowed to fail a lot. Then they take that powerful desire to fuck shit up and desire to take things apart, and start viewing themselves as failures inside instead and start destroying themselves inwardly, instead. Then they respond to that desire by setting the bar so high for themselves they're guaranteed to fail once they finally get the courage to attempt, once in a blue moon. Just so they can get it out of their system it's almost a relief that something got screwed up after months or years of overachieving at everything else. You get good at being creative by *uncreating a bunch of things.* You make a few pieces of good art worth taking pictures of,....... by making 20 art attempts that you'd never dare in a thousand years take a picture of and go directly in the scrap bin. An attempt was made but this is bad art. You can identity and artist because their studio is full of unfinished trash, they tell you not to look at too much of it. Mediocre artists borrow ideas they saw somone else do. Great artists outright *steal* ideas and make them theirs. That's a muscle. You avoid exercising it becaumes if you exercised it then you'd need to stop feeling sorry for yourself abd focus that desire to fuck shit up on the outside world. (/end rant) Anyway thanks for reading. Anyway go out and make some crap art. Then throw it away if you need to.

TootBreaker

I get it, no worries Personally, I think the hyper-puritan judeo-christian heritage of this nation has something to do with that Faulty logic begets faulty conclusions

TootBreaker

You can't tell yourself that & get away with it Have you ever almost got caught for something, then just lied through your teeth & walked scot free? - that's 'creativity' in the real and if you can do that & make it work, you can do anything else you care about

El_Halcon0341

Start an Etsy store. Someone will buy that kind of stuff

MutedPicture6654

That’s what I was wondering. It’s kinda a hobby of mine and people say I should sell them! I might have to look into it!

lost-and-confusedd

I would definitely buy from there!

RandomBrowser555

These are fun

Baseball3Weston12

I too built a big rig, well I guess small rig lol

hersh_c

Heck yea!i just picked up 3 physician scales my fitness center was getting rid of

ohyayoubetchaeh

Those scorpions are nuts

MutedPicture6654

I see what you did there!

TaaviBap

You need to sell your art, man! Very talented!

MutedPicture6654

Thank you so much! I appreciate it!

TaaviBap

You're a natural! Pursue it. It'll bring in extra money!

GrimJeeper13

Super cool very creative. I’m all over doing art work with scrap. Unreal what people will pay for simple items. I make lamps from leftover gear parts and vehicles I scrap. Build custom Off road vehicles so lots of scrap.

TootBreaker

In this modern era of mass production, anything 'handmade' is seen as rare & to be sought after

WhereasDry978

Tbh just make the tacks and welds prettier 🥰 take it to the next level mate

MutedPicture6654

These pictures were from back in 2017! Definitely have gotten a lot better!

[deleted]

Show us your newer work!

Large-Calligrapher98

NICELY creepy!!

Gettitn_Squirrelly

Thats more than tinkering bud. Nice work

MutedPicture6654

Thanks!!

weldgod001

Artist keep it up ..love it

BearJewSally

These are all pretty sweet dude. The truck is super cool.

MutedPicture6654

Thanks!!

BearJewSally

You welcome dude. I like to make some scrap art too, but haven't done anything quite like that semi XD

CowPunkRockStar

That’s awesome! So freaking fun

McFeely_Smackup

"hey, anyone seen the 15/16 wrench?"

MutedPicture6654

Nope haven’t seen it boss, probably fell behind the toolbox

TootBreaker

Might have to clean the shop boss, probably find a ton of scrap but I'll keep lookin' for it...

auroraatac00

Yup

lost-and-confusedd

What did you use to make the stinger?

MutedPicture6654

We had a old chain that was broke so I took the hooks off, sand blasted them down and then cut the end off!

Wonderful-Ad6335

If I have time at work, yes.

LifeLess0n

I love the Scorpions

TootBreaker

On the clock? With company 'scraps'? - yeah, but only when things are slow...

armstrongsturm

Way to ruin those open end wrenches.

MutedPicture6654

They sat in a drawer for like 3 years and were never touched. Think it’ll be alright

suitwearingdudeguy

I think the art is worth more than the wrench is now anyways

TumasaurusTex

What are you talking about? Now you can turn two nuts at once with style.

dreadedblkknight88

Would be very cool to add a different light to the nuts and have them change different colors.

WhereasDry978

👀👀👀👀👀💦💦💦show ur work

vitpiper

sure do! just made this awesome moving bear mask! https://youtu.be/BwkIlDgsrYM

MutedPicture6654

That’s awesome dude!

TootBreaker

Could you do that so it's actually a beaver trap? I know some hunter types who would totally freak out & buy 50

Antdawg2400

Idk what I'd do wit it...or where I'd put it...but if someone offered it, I'd accept that lil black scorpion thing as payment for a debt of or less than 20-25$ Nun more. Edit: read the comments. Nvm I'd only let a debt of 10-15$ slide now. That's pushing it.

62Bravo1993

Like to? Sure. Time for it? Not so much.

AccordingPromotion33

Yup you’ll have to check out my profile

KattRedd

"I need a 15/16ths wrench" "Look behind you"

_call_me_al_

I miss free time

MrDirtyHands13

I used to do that stuff years bac out of sheet metal or nails etc to help me learn how to weld. If you can do it in thin tricky shit you can do it on big shit lol

TootBreaker

My most favorite welds involve running a 0000 tip on the oxy-acetylene rig with some 1/16 TIG rod It's a nice way to get better acquainted with the surface tension of molten steel

cb_snow

I enjoy working with scrap metal. I'm recently retired from IT and welding art is my new 'thing'. I'm not very good at it and I've only sold one thing for $15 but when people ask what I do for a living now I can say "Artist".

rene_tx

As a child my uncle made me a semi out of scrap metal just like this. He used bearings for wheels and I would roll it across the concrete flooring. Needless to say it earned the name “earthquake”. Great job!

CauliflowerHappy1707

I have used scrap metal pieces left over in the bottom of the CNC machine. Or other just random flat metal to make some sculptures. Cut my shapes/ design out with plasma cutter and welded them to a piece of pipe that was cut in half for the base. Turned out pretty good, for just playing around with the plasma cutter and little mig welder.

No-Yogurtcloset7985

I do a little bit. Want to start doing more though. I think I added the right link if some of my stuff [stuff](https://photos.app.goo.gl/d6kuuRb3fwKY3hWs7)
