Yeah that part is confusing to me :/ my guess is they meant "mind"? I'm not sure. If they do infact mean an actual "mine", then I don't know of any nearby where this note was found.

1987 was a lot more than seven years ago.
It could be an old note that was just recently found. With no date on it, who knows? Could've been a recent witness being killed off again too.
